After several consults with orthodontists and dentists, lot’s of time and money spent on braces and a great deal of frustration from getting a lot of “no we can’t do that….it won’t work” or “yes we can do that” only to be told after braces were installed that they could not, I found DR. Eric Ballou. He took the time to understand what I wanted and after 2 office consults, we came to an agreement that he could do what I needed done and so the work began. So, right after I had my braces taken off, I found Dr. Ballou who put me in Invisalign and after 4 trays, we achieved the restructuring necessary to move to the cosmetic dentistry part. He completed that in one sitting and I was fitted for my retainers that same day as well. I am ELATED to say, he was able to do what no one else was willing or capable of doing and my smile looks amazing all thanks to his patience and ability to think beyond the box and beyond the nay sayers. I cannot say enough about Dr. Ballou. He is truly amazing as is his friendly staff. Thank you, thank you, thank you Dr. Ballou!!! Oh and he also does both ortho and dentistry so you don’t have to shuffle around town for separate appointments. Simply AWESOME!!!

I brought my, soon to be 100 yr old, mother in to see Dr Ballou. She had broken off her canine tooth and hated to smile showing an ugly gap plus its ragged edge scratched her inner lip. She was visiting from NH for only 2 wks. She did not want her tooth extracted, too much pain. Dr Ballou assessed her situation and came up with the perfect quick plan. We returned in 2 days, after a complete 3 hr procedure she left with her perfect smile intact. She said the “only” discomfort she felt was flossing isn’t this amazing. I am new to Boise and have become his new patient due to the caring treatment shown my mother. She’s not afraid to return for a check up! Dr Ballou’s staff reflects his gentle kind ways. Dr. Ballou is the best. Not only is he a really nice guy, but visiting his office is like jumping forward in time!! He has some many new technologies and digital capabilities that I had never even heard of. I had no idea that it was possible to get a crown completely done in one day. I had a front tooth that had been cracked. I hated the way it looked. He told me that he could make it look brand new again that same day! The best part about it was that it was the same price as if I would have gone to another dentist who would have sent a mold off to some lab, leaving me with a temporary crown for a week or so. I’m 61 and have seen a LOT of dentists. I have been a patient here for 2-3 years. Most companies (including health professionals) live up to my low expectations. I have been pleasantly surprised on virtually every visit. The state of the art equipment (for crowns, etc.) the professional scheduling (when it is your turn THEY are on time) and mostly the professional, knowledgeable people who are clearly concerned about my OVERALL dental health are the reason I keep going back. Knowledge and gentle. I had an absurd fear of going to the dentist for years due to some traumatic symptoms devious dental work. I avoided it until I couldn’t anymore. They got me in and got my immediate need taken care of and for the first time visiting a dentist I wasn’t in pain during the visit. I kept scheduling appointments to finish a treatment plan and for the first time in many years my teeth don’t hurt. No more swollen gums, abscesses, pain when eating. They present you with clear plans and if you need to alter it they work with you so you are comfortable. I now scheduled twice yearly cleanings and am not embarrassed to go in. I am just going to start scheduling my husband to go in as he also fears the dentist. 100% recommended. I just saw Dr. Ballou today for the first time. Coming from somebody who has spent years at the dentist, and has probably spent over $25,000 on his mouth, I must say that this dental office was the most modern, up to date and most efficient that I’ve been to. They do everything in-house from crowns, veneers to implants which meant I didn’t have to return for a subsequent visit. It literally took him one hour to complete all of my work (crown and fillling) which in the past would have taken a week. I left with my permanent crown and it fits perfectly. Dr. Ballou made me feel very comfortable and explained everything to me in detail. He was able to answer all of my questions. I’m looking forward to returning to have a couple of more things done in addition to a couple of implants. I wouldn’t go anywhere else to have an implant done after being in their office.

When I arrived, I was promptly greeted by Joan, she shook my hand and I got started on my paperwork. f you want a top notch dental office this is the place to be! They were very efficient in getting me in quickly, I did not have to wait long for a new patient appointment. Dr. Eric Ballou is friendly, knowledgeable and professional. He has excellent bedside manner and puts all your fears at ease the minute he walks in the room. I came into the office because I needed a filling replaced but ended up needing a crown instead. I recently had another crown placed on a different tooth and had several problems with it. I was a bit skeptical of having crown placed on my tooth but Dr. Ballou explained how my tooth would benefit from having a crown placed and explained the whole process throughout treatment. He is also is very detail oriented and made sure that my crown was perfect before permanently cementing it. A WORD FROM YOUR DOCTOR
Dr. Eric Ballou is a highly skilled and experienced general dentist providing patients with comprehensive general and cosmetic care at Lake Harbor Dental in Boise. With several years of advanced training, Dr. Ballou focuses on CAD/CAM Digital Dentistry with Cerec 3D and Galileos 3D imaging for implant planning. When dentists in southeast Idaho purchase Cerec technology from Patterson, Dr Ballou goes to their office and trains the staff and doctors how to use the equipment. He also teaches a course to doctors and assistants in called Cerec Efficiency. He has been a Mentor for cerecdoctors.com in Scottsdale, AZ for several years and attends courses there regularly in both teaching and learning capacities. Dr. Ballou graduated with his undergraduate degree in Medical Biology from the University of Utah, before completing his dental degree at Virginia Commonwealth University School of Dentistry, where he was the Vice President of his class. He received certification for Invisalign in dental school and has since continued with orthodontic courses and certification. After completing many successful cases, Dr. Ballou was selected as a Preferred Provider for Invisalign. He has also volunteered his time and dental services to those in need through the Wise MOM Project and recently in the Dominican Republic with the G3 foundation. Dr. Ballou is married with 5 children, and enjoys golf, hunting, camping and spending time with his family.
