Sounds strange to say… but one of the best experience I’ve had at a dentist. Went to replace an old filling. I wasn’t crazy to have a shot local anesthetic but ended up couldn’t hardly feel the pinch, Dr. Herbst has a wonderful light touch. Normally the worst part of this procedure for me would have been the smell from the drilling. But he positions the suction to remove the fumes so I couldn’t even smell the drilling at all. Wonderful…!

Dr. Herbst and Annette have been my dentist and hygienist for half of my life, and I am almost 65. Personable, professional, thorough and gentle. I consider myself LUCKY that they are part of my life. I’ve never had a bad experience in their offices. The offices are beautiful, clean, and they genuinely care about you. I can’t even fathom going to anyone else. Eons ago, I had only made a couple of visits to the doctor who previously owned this practice. It’s been SO long ago, that I don’t even remember his name. At some point, I was informed that someone else was taking over the practice, as my original dentist was going to retire. Deciding to stay was the best decision I’ve EVER made.

I am scared of dentists since I was a kid. Plus: my teeth are super sensitive. Needless to say, I HATE going to the dentists. Then came this practice. It starts with the best front desk/office managing staff there is. Next is Annette, she is second to none. Not only does she do an awesome job but it is always fun seeing here. Finally… Dr. Herbst. The most calm, explaining and caring dentist I have ever had. If you want not only a dentist who is phenomenal but also experience a nice environment then this has to be your place. I have been going to Dr. Herbst since he started work with Dr. Attra, the original owner of the place. I have been with Annette for as long as I can remember for my adult life. I was with Attra from the beginning and went to see Dr. Herbst when Dr. Attra retired. Dr. Herbst is pleasant and knowlegeable. My husband is now seeing him and Annette and he likes them very much. Kim is another long term member and she’s absolutely great. She’s very thorough with her job and makes you feel welcome as soon as you enter the door. My kind of place with my kind of people.

I been coming to this location for about 2 years now and the attention and care is amazing! The staff is very pleasant and friendly from the moment you walk into the office. The dental rooms themselves are truly fancy and give a luxury vibe! My last dentist experience with a different office was so unpleasant I quickly avoided any dentist as a whole. But my teeth couldn’t be neglected anymore, and I was aware I needed a few things worked on. Last week I search and read SO MANY REVIEWS, and naturally I pay close attention for the bad one, but Dr. Herbst office had nothing but great reviews. So I reach out to them and I instantly felt an ease with them, and made an appointment. I had my first appointment this morning, and before walking in I already knew how much I would be expected to pay. The transparency of serving and pricing was so comforting. The Staff is just all around welcoming, and professional. They knew what they were doing and they definitely enjoyed their job – I could tell by their energy at 8:30am in the morning! Dr. Walding was great and walked me through everything he was doing and what he would want to do next. I truly left his office understanding both the treatment and also the financial responsibility I have. I would definitely recommend this office to anyone, and even more to those that value costumer service from not only the staff but the Dentist.

I’m the biggest chicken of the dentist. From what I hear many are. The Dr. Is one of my customers and I found out he was a dentist. Long story short he was told my story by me and actually stayed and talked through things with me. I’ve been long overdue for this review, because I’ve been seeing Dr. Herbst for years with an “s” on the end of it, and his practice deserves every bit of the five stars I’ve assigned. Thanks to Edgar V.’s recommendation, I was able to find a dentist that I can not only tolerate, but (almost) like. I was never afraid of the dentist as a kid, but I had a really, really terrible experience when I was 18. Even though I was fully insured, I was so terrified I didn’t go back for more than four years. I saw another dentist for around a year and just wasn’t feeling it with her, so it was off to trusty Yelp I trotted. After confirming Dr. Herbst took my insurance, I walked in nervously but walked out a customer for life. From the front desk to the chair and back, everybody in this practice has a great attitude and is eminently personable. Kim is the office manager and keeps everything running like a Swiss watch. Annette is my hygenist, and remembers me from visit to visit. I feel like I’m actually being treated like a human being when she cleans my teeth because she’s very sensitive to any discomfort or pain I might be experiencing. Toni is Dr. Herbst’s dental assistant, and has totally held my hand when I had a needle all up in my mouth area. (Thanks, Toni.) Dr. Herbst is interested in keeping your teeth clean and healthy, and that’s what matters. My previous dentist kept pushing cosmetic procedures on me, but that isn’t what I was really interested in. I always feel comfortable enough to ask Dr. Herbst any questions I might have, and he asks his own key questions too. On top of everything, the premises are really nice. Each chair is outfitted with its own TV and headphones so you can watch (or listen, if your eyes are squeezed tightly shut like mine during your appointment) to whatever you choose. The procedure chair is also equipped with a massage function so ostensibly you could have the best root canal ever. At this most recent appointment, Dr. Herbst found a cavity, but it wasn’t exactly new–an old filling had broken and had exposed my poor tooth to the elements. He caught it early, thankfully, so it wasn’t particularly invasive. Though he doesn’t practice any form of sedation dentistry, Dr. Herbst is more than happy to prescribe a few anti-anxiety pills for me to take before my appointment, which makes everyone’s life easier. He took a picture of my tooth before and after so I could see exactly what he’d done, and let me know what my new filling should and shouldn’t feel like. From start to finish my new filling (including the wait for the Novocaine) took less than one hour. Now that’s respect for my time! Honestly, I can’t say enough good things about Dr. Herbst and his staff–and this is coming from the biggest dental coward ever. Even though I’ll still subconsciously give the idea of the dentist the side-eye, I won’t be afraid when I walk into the real-life office here.

It either takes a very good or bad experience to propel me to write a detailed review and in this case it is due to a very great one! As soon as I walked in the door the front desk girl, Kim, knew my name without having ever met me before, talk about customer service! I feel like I have been going here for years! Besides the great staff, the ambiance of the office is superb. From the front lobby down to the flat screen TV provided in each nook. Dr. Herbst was easy to talk to, knowledgeable and efficient. Going here was the most relaxing part of my day and that has never been said by me before while being in a doctor’s office. Yelp brought me to this place and I hope it does the same for others. I have been going to Dr. Herbst for over 40 years. It’s about 22 miles away so I have tried finding a closer dentist but I always end up coming back to Dr. Herbst. Everyone seems to pale in comparison. The quality of work and level of professionalism is above all else. Annett is the best dental hygienist that I’ve ever had. She doesn’t tear up your gums and my teeth look awesome when I leave there. She’s been there for at least 30 years. I would highly recommend this Dentist.

Dr. Herbst has been taking care of my gorgeous smile for almost 10 years now. Every time I go for my check-up, I am reminded why his practice has kept my business. It’s all about his and his team’s service, attention and competence. New office renovated. Seems lots bigger and they’ve installed some new gadgets like ceiling mounted TVs with headphones to use while getting cleaning/procedures done, digital x-rays and an electronic dental record. Overall, nice change and the staff seem happy which definitely transfers to me feeling comfortable and well taken care of while “in the chair.” Overall, I think Dr. Herbst and his team has it down for good dental care in Houston.

Dr. Walding and Dr. Herbst are both great. I have been going to their office for many years now and have been seen by both of them. I called today for an emergency visit since I had chipped a tooth last night and had an appointment with Dr. Walding in 3 hours. I’ve been going to Dr. Herbst for over 20 years and he and his staff have always provided excellent service. I’ve had routine cleanings, fillings, and other work done there. They do a great job explaining any issues you may have and how to resolve them without recommending services that you don’t need. I did Invisalign with Dr. Walding last year (2015) and he took the time to explain the whole process from start to finish and answer all my questions.The office atmosphere is pleasant and relaxing. They use email and text to make sure you get your appointment reminders and there are TVs with headphones during the appointment so you don’t get bored. My dental hygienist is awesome and I wouldn’t think of going anywhere else for my dental care.

I have been looking for a good dentist for a very very long time. I moved here from out of state, and was disappointed with the first dentist I had gone to. No one seemed to have met my expectations as good as my out-of-state doc. I had my second visit today, and I have to say, I am super happy about my choice! First off, the office is clean, and front desk ladies are pleasant and patient oriented! I didn’t have to wait for long, as the appointment took place exactly at the scheduled time. I had the choice to listen to music or watch TV while the doc was working on my teeth. Unlike my previous dentist, Dr Herbst literally showed to me on the screen which teeth had problems and what was a recommended plan of action. Throughout the process he told me what he is going to do, so that I knew what to expect. He is super nice to his colleagues, and most of his team members have been working with him for more than 10 years! I value his ethics and I’m happy I got to meet him!! Visiting from the UK, I had a very troublesome new crown and desperately needed help before flying on vacation. Luckily for me a colleague of Dr Herbst was able to see me at very short notice. On arrival I was seen by the dentists assistant who was lovely and put me right at ease, as I’m not a lover of dentists!! My mouth was was numbed by mouthwash, far less invasive than injection and after having an X-ray taken, the dentist arrived to file my crown down a little. I must say I was so impressed by the service I received, both the dentist and his assistant made me feel very relaxed and confident in their ability to help my situation. Their care and attention to detail meant that I was able to enjoy my holiday, with no dental pain to worry about. I would recommend this dentist without any hesitation.

Today was the second time I’ve seen Dr. Herbst for a cleaning. It’s really quite unbelievable… He’s booked about four weeks back, so you really have to plan ahead for just a cleaning. What is unbelievable is that you get there and you wait less than two minutes to go back and you’re out the door in about 30 minutes. The girls in his office are super friendly and very gentle. The only opinions I had towards dentists is that they’re bad news. I can’t blame my mom for always picking some mean dentists, I mean after all, Yelp didn’t exist when she decided I needed braces. At last! Another Yelper referred Dr. Herbst to me and I’m glad I checked them out. The front desk lady, Kim, is such a joy to talk to. She was very thorough with all my payments (yes, all because I had to make four visits in just a few months) and made sure that I understood how my insurance policy worked. This really helped because I hadn’t had much experience with adulthood and using insurance on my own. I’m a big kid now. My first visit was for a cleaning and I had Kathy. She was BEYOND nice and if you like good stories, you should see her. The majority of the time I was so caught up with listening to her that I forgot she was scrubbing down my teeth. I don’t know much about cleanings (yes, again, note my previous fear of visiting dentists), but I think she did a great job! She then referred me to Dr. Herbst who evaluated all the things I needed down to my teeth. Four visits later, I got all my yucky cavities filled and I will DEFINITELY start taking care of my teeth better. Both Dr. Herbst and his staff always made sure I wasn’t in any pain and I’m just really glad I went to them to get all that work done.
