PATIENT REVIEWS

Check out what some of our happy patients are saying about us:

★★★★★

I have been a patient of Dr. Aiken for at least the past 20 years.  From the receptionist to the dental hygenist to Dr. Aiken, the service has been supurb.  The appointments are easy to make.  I never have to wait to see either the dental hygenist or Dr. Aiken.  The team maintains exceptional professional standards.  My thanks to the entire team!

★★★★★

I’ve been going to Dr. Aiken for years and she and her staff have always been great. They are highly professional, friendly, and flexible about scheduling. They do all they can to make the office space and ambience pleasant and calm. But the very best part is Sunshine, the adorable certified therapy dog who i was invited to have curl up on my lap during my cleaning. I’ve felt comfortable going in during the pandemic and was happy to note there is a hepa air filter.

★★★★★

I’ve been going to Dr. Aiken’s office for several years now (since I moved to Boston). I’ve had regular cleanings, had my teeth whitened and also had several more serious procedures on two teeth that I broke over 20 years ago and that have needed follow-up care. The dental care is top notch, and so is everything else. They run on time — patients are not kept waiting. Karen, at the front desk, is great with figuring out different insurance issues. And when there’s an emergency (like when your cap breaks off on a weekend or holiday) they respond quickly and helpfully.

★★★★★

I have been going to Dr Aiken for over 16 years. She is the best in town, she has always been located in the Boston financial district. The office is very pleasant and extremely clean, the environment – relaxing with soft music, most of the equipment is new and with the most recent technologies. Dr Aiken is extremely gentle and professional, kind and knowledgeable of the most recent trends in the industry. She enjoys her work and it shows everywhere – including the small golden tooth on the key chain for her office. I have never had the feeling that I am visiting a dentist. Almost all procedures are painless. The feeling is more like visiting any administrative office. Everybody in her office is as professional as her, especially Karen, who does the billing, appointments and many other things. My entire family is having her as a dentist now, after trying a number of other places in the USA and a number of other countries, including Toronto, Canada. The most impressive thing, that I have never seen in any doctor’s office, is that you never have to wait for more than a few minutes when visiting her. She is very punctual for all appointments. There are no people in her waiting room, and a huge number of patients. She cares and follows up with phone calls after emergency issues, and sees her patients for emergencies on the same day.

★★★★★

If you’re looking for a dentist Downtown or in the FiDi, look no further. Meticulous attention to detail, flexible scheduling and a service dog in the office all make this a no-brainer. The doctor and staff are professional, friendly, approachable and thorough. They always seem to be running on time, which is amazing. Appointments take exactly as long as they say they will. I’ve had a cleaning and two fillings replaced. Fillings were painless, with just the right amount of Novocaine so that I felt nothing but it wore off in just a few hours. Be sure to pick up some Chapstick on the way out. So happy to have found them!

★★★★★

I have been a patient of Dr. Aiken for over 20 years now and would never consider another dentist. She has done multiple crowns for me over the years and every one has been a smooth and relatively painless experience. In addition her staff is professional, courteous and caring. Dr. Aiken’s dental assistants do a great job of performing cleanings, explaining the process and results. Dr. Aiken always does a follow up check on my teeth after the cleaning and asks about my family and friends. In short, if you want excellent professional dental care, seek no further!

★★★★★

Seriously, if you live in the Boston area and you need a dentist, check our Carol L. Aiken, DDS. I’ve been to maybe seven dentists in my life and her office is the best. Everyone who works there is super skilled and also friendly and considerate. Also everything is really high tech. And they do Saturday appointments one week a month. And they give you way better free chapstick than other dentist’s offices. Fig flavored. Ah, also, their office is one block from the Downtown Crossing subway station.

★★★★★

If you’re downtown and looking for a good dentist, call the office of Carol Aiken. She and her dental hygienist were both very thorough. Definitely the most thorough dental exam I’ve had in a long time, with both my teeth and mouth were thoroughly examinated. I paid privately, as I don’t have dental insurance, and the price was right for the level of care I received. You can certainly pay less elsewhere, but it likely won’t be as thorough. I also was given a box of high end teeth whitening treatments since I mentioned I found the office on Yelp, so that was really nice too. Credit cards (and FSA credit cards!) are accepted, so that made my visit really easy.

★★★★★

Smile on, Bostonians. Dr. Aiken’s practice is convenient, friendly, and just the right level of treatment for someone like me. I always leave feeling like she and her team care about my health, but are not pushing me to take on cosmetic procedures that I don’t need, or needlessly making me feel guilty about not flossing as much as I know I should (really, who does??). Most of all, I love having a reliable, affordable, kind dentist near my work who I can see at lunch if I have an emergency, in the morning before work for my bi-yearly cleaning, and call anytime to schedule an appointment. Definitely not giving up this dentist anytime soon – luckily, even with all the people who stick around, she still always has room for new patients. Win!

★★★★★

I have been a patient of Dr. Aiken for the past two years now. I cannot speak highly enough of her and her team. They have been flexible in scheduling, supportive and understanding of my needs. I feel completely comfortable with her entire staff and because of them I enjoy the dentist now! They are prompt and professional while I am there and I have never waited longer than ten minutes for my appointment. All of the work and cleanings I have gotten done are of the highest quality and I know Dr. Aiken truly prides herself in doing a thorough job. If you are looking for a new dentist I suggest Dr. Aiken!! I appreciate everything they have done for me over the past two years; and I know you will too!

★★★★★

Dr. Aiken is a wonderful dentist who has a professional, gentle, and calm approach, and a well-informed, downtown dental practice. All of her hygienists follow after her. I’m never chided for not flossing or not doing this or that, although, I’m definitely given full disclosure. She also has the latest doohickeys to provide as painless a visit as possible. I’ve been going to her for something like 7 years, and will continue to do so as long as I have teeth, which, thanks to her, should be a very long time.

★★★★★

Okay, just wrote my first review, and it was a scathing (but honest) one expressing total disappointment with my (now former) community health center, and so I need to cleanse my palate, channel positive energy, and rave about something good. No challenge to come up with somebody to write about in that light…. it would be my dentist and her staff. These women rock. Having read the first reviewer’s glowing assessment of Dr. Aiken, and being in need of a dentist since my last (great) dentist, Dr. Jon Ochab, moved to the ‘burbs, I called to see if Dr. A was taking new patients. To my amazement she had something available that very week, and her office then called me back to see if I wanted to take a slot even earlier which had just opened up. I jumped at the chance, and from that first cleaning/exam on, with every procedure and visit, I have only become more and more impressed with the whole staff, the way they treated me and interacted with me, the vibe in the office, the care… EVERYTHING. Beyond the things I NEEDed done, they also talked WITH me about teeth whitening (something I’ve been curious about), explained the regimen/products they use, and didn’t try to “sell” me on it. I made the decision that I wanted to have it done, had it done, and it made a big difference. Totally feel like I got results, and more than I paid for. Seriously, it’s all been great. My only hesitation about recommending them is that, if you’re all smart, you’ll all catch on, and sign on, and it will be hard for me to get an appointment in the future. But, so be it. I can’t keep a good thing to myself. Dr. Aiken, and her entire crew, are a good thing. If you need a dentist, pick up the phone and call, right now. Don’t put it off another day. Everybody deserves good dental care, and Dr. Aiken will provide it. So do this for yourself.

★★★★★

I researched dentists for about a week before I decided on Dr. Aiken due to the reviews on Yelp. I have been seeing the same dentist since I was 5 years old so I did not take this lightly. Let me tell you….I made the best Decision! Everyone should go to Dr. Aiken. Her staff is amazing and very professional. I actually like to go to the dentist now because I have so much fun there! Aside from all of that Dr. Aiken is very thorough and informed. She wants your teeth to look and feel their best. I would and will recommend this practice to everyone.

★★★★★

I’ve been a patient of Dr. Aiken’s for 6 years now, and obviously things are very different these days. The Dentist is one of the few places where you’re not only not able to wear a mask, but you are actively at an increased risk of spreading or getting something. Today, I had my cleaning, and was really blown away. The care for safety and cleanliness was extremely high. My temp was taken before I was allowed in. I was the only person there. There was new equipment to help limit the spread of things (like a vacuum device put near my mouth whenever spraying was a risk – not the suction tube they always use, but a larger, broader thing). Sterility was clear, but so was care for me as a human being (as always, though perhaps more critical these days). Also, usually, if something is found during a cleaning, most dentists ask you to schedule time to come back to take care of it. Dr. Aiken handled it on the spot, recognizing that it is not convenient to have to come in a second time, nor does it feel good knowing a problem in my teeth could be getting worse while I wait for her schedule to open up. I’ve had 2 dentists do that before, and minor, early-warning signs blew up into full-blown cavities (not to mention the additional time off of work I needed to take since I had to come back). Dr. Aiken has been and will be my favorite dentist. I trust her, I appreciate her staff, and I feel well-taken care.

★★★★★

I really can’t say enough about Dr. Aiken. Not only is she personable and genuinely interested in her patients’ well being, she’s extremely talented. She is, in a word, a perfectionist. A week or so ago she went to great lengths to fix two badly chipped front teeth that no less than four previous dentists failed to correct. As a result of her efforts I am now the proud owner of two cosmetically perfect front choppers. My smile hasn’t looked this good in fifteen years. Hats off to Dr. Aiken and her talented staff!

★★★★★

One of the most professional and courteous staff in the area. Great care every time. I would highly recommend establishing care at this practice if you are in the Boston area. I was with severe toothache and was seen the next day! I was very impressed with the friendliness, cleanliness and knowledge of the dentist and dental staff. Going to the dentist is not easy but they sure make it as comfortable as can be!

★★★★★

I have been a patient of Dr. Aiken for over 25 years.  I trust her explicitly.  She has always been conservative in her approach – in other words, I know that she would never recommend a dental treatment plan that was not necessary.  She maintains the highest of standards and is up to date with dental technology.  Her office staff is welcoming, her hygienists knowledgeable.  My son has been a patient for years and recently his wife became a patient as well.  I highly recommend Dr. Aiken.  She is the best.

★★★★★

I’m so glad my friend recommended Dr. Aiken when I was looking for a dentist in the area two years ago. Dr. Aiken and everyone in the office is so great. I have had a few fillings recently and each time she talks me through the procedure. I never feel like I’m being reprimanded for not flossing enough or something. She just gives me the facts and fixes any problems quickly. It doesn’t hurt that there’s an adorable dog in the office too! I highly recommend Dr. Aiken if you’re looking for a dentist. Her location is very central too. Dental work isn’t fun, but I don’t dread it anymore!

★★★★★

I have been going to Dr. Aiken for over a year now and have nothing but wonderful things to say. The whole office is so friendly, accommodating and professional. There is no greater testament to just how thoughtful and accommodating they are than my latest appointment. I had a spontaneous presentation come up, scheduled for soon after my appointment was scheduled for so I was panicked about making it in time. Not only did the front desk call me to let me know that they were running slow that morning but when I then expressed by time crunch they offered to move the appointment or to promise to be quick. They exceeded that promise. When I got in, they got me right in with no wait and Dr. Aiken herself handled my cleaning and my inspection all at once. Never have I had the actual dentist do the cleaning as well. They got me in and out the door in under 30 minutes so I had enough time to prep for my presentation. Who does that?! Oh and if that doesn’t sell you, she has the CUTEST therapy dog that can keep you company during your appointment if you hate the dentist as much as I do.

★★★★★

I went to Dr. Aiken for my first dental checkup in I can’t remember how many years-after writing them an e-mail they got in touch with me within twenty four hours to schedule an appointment. They worked with my admittedly crazy schedule (4 nights a week at a hospital) and kept in contact with me regarding my scheduled appointment well. After the Green Line ran late, I arrived at their office to be told that I didn’t have to be rescheduled that they could still see me, and after filling out a few pieces of the usual paperwork, I was speeded through a friendly, easy cleaning and full set of x-rays. What impressed me most was how the hygienists, office staff, and Dr. Aiken all work together seamlessly. The whole place is a well oiled machine. Dr. Aiken is friendly, and funny! She sat me down and went over the problems I was having in a comprehensive, understandable way. I didn’t get chided for not flossing (though she of course recommended that I floss more often as good dentists should!) and she hooked me up with a free whitening pen! I’m headed back next week to get some more work done and for the first time in my life, actually looking forward to visiting a dentist!

★★★★★

I spoke with Karen and made an appointment- Very simple and easy to do. When I arrived, Karen had checked in with my insurance and told me that even though the insurance company had told me that the visit would be 100% covered, in actuality they only cover 100% of what they decide is reasonable. The company (Cigna) said it was impossible to tell me what they deem reasonable! Karen was incredibly kind and understanding as she helped me understand my options. I ultimately decided not to risk the insurance charging me. When I have better insurance I will definitely see Dr Aiken. I highly highly recommend the customer service at Dr Aikens, though I cant speak to the dental work. The office staff are very caring and capable and make you feel comfortable. Five stars for Dr Aikens office, negative infinity stars for Cigna.

★★★★★

I was in town on business from NY and my temporary crown fell out while I was brushing my teeth at 10pm. What do you do at 10pm!? I called the office and left a message and received a call back by 6:45am with a compassionate voice on the other end who offered me an appointment option to fit me in that morning. There was great communication from the office and really caring questions about my pain level and if I had managed to save the temporary crown. When I arrived, Dr. Aiken came out into the waiting room to introduce herself and to shake my hand. I’ve never had THAT before. Next in line to greet me was the office therapy dog “Sunshine”… the most loving furball that could soothe any nervousness or fear. She sat on my lap and made sure I was okay. Dr. Aiken has a great bedside manner. She talks with you, not to you. She goes the extra mile to make sure the care she gives is the care you deserve. I found her and the staff to exude positive energy and the sincerest of care. Her actual work was great! And she explained everything she was doing… in understandable English. She broke down any barriers that can exist between doctor and patient and made sure that this was a shared effort to treat my issue. Thank you Dr. Aiken, your staff, and of course, Miss Sunshine too.

★★★★★

Candidly, I was quite apprehensive when my hometown and lifelong dentist retired several years ago- I was losing the only dentist I had ever known. However, I was incredibly fortunate- I became a patient at this practice due to the proximity to my office, and now I wish I had made the transition many years earlier. The entire team is knowledgeable, pleasant, respectful, and genuinely concerned about the patient’s health. I have experienced numerous cleanings and various procedures (fillings/ bonding) and all of these interactions were handled with the utmost professionalism and expertise. Pain management (more like elimination in my case) has been exceptional. Referrals for specialized treatment have been fantastic as well. This is a great practice and while I don’t often review on Yelp I wanted to take a few moments to share these accolades- they are that good! I’m lucky to have found them.

★★★★★

Dr Aiken is extremely knowledgeable and pleasant. She is thorough but will not recommend any superfluous (and costly) procedures. Her staff is super friendly as well. As someone who has had a mild fear of dentists (after years of orthodontics hell), she has made me feel very welcome and comfortable!

★★★★★

Dr. Aiken is a fantastic dentist. I have now moved away from Boston, and so I’ve had to change dentists; I don’t know if I will ever find one who is as smart, competent, caring, and careful as Dr. Aiken. Her approach, with me at least, was what she calls “minimally invasive dentistry,” which basically means that she takes care to avoid doing unnecessary procedures and surgeries. She calibrates what’s “necessary” carefully, taking account of your brushing habits and history, and lays out the pros and cons of your choices in a clear way. On each of my visits, she spent significantly more time with me than some other dentists, and explained things in a more substantive and thorough way. She also took the time to get to know me, and remembered what I was up to from visit to visit. She was sensitive to the issue of insurance, which I appreciated — I had dental insurance through work for part of the time that I was her patient, then didn’t and had to pay 100% out of pocket for part of the time, after I changed jobs, and she understood and took account of that. She is NOT a dentist who is trying to maximize revenue by signing you up for every procedure that could possibly be relevant to you (unless you want them). Plus, while I guess this is not directly relevant to how good of a job she is going to do in taking care of you, one time when I was her patient she and her staff had just come back from volunteering with Remote Area Medical, heading down to rural Appalachia to provide free dental care to people who need it. I think this is very admirable. This is the first time I have written a review on yelp.com. I haven’t been a big user of this site, but I did choose Dr. Aiken because of a review I read on the web somewhere (must have been some other site, because it was earlier than the first review now showing here). So, I thought the least I could do was leave another review singing her praises. BTW, her staff are also great. The hygenist who cleaned my teeth each time I went there really knew what she was doing. The office manager is exceptionally nice, and goes out of her way to be helpful. They’re all very professional and competent. Nobody wants to go to the dentist, but you have to go, so you really should try to find someone like Carol Aiken.
