Check out what some of our happy patients are saying about us:

★★★★★

I had a traumatic experience at a dentist visit as a kid that made me really averse to dental care. I can not recommend the wonderful people at Smiles by Rosie highly enough. The community of care-givers that Dr. Wagner has assembled through her practice provide a level of care and compassion to their patients that is,frankly, astonishing and unprecedented.

★★★★★

I have been going to Smiles by Rosie for a number of years and she is a great dentist. She always takes the time to explain the procedure she is working on. Her office staff is friendly and accommodating. She has a great manner with patients and I have never felt any discomfort in her chair. I highly recommend her dental practice.

★★★★★

Loved my first visit. Such a reparative experience from many years of dentists and hygienists not caring about my extremely sensitive teeth. The team here did an amazing job. I felt they were ethical in their recommendations (so often I feel dentists are interested in doing superfluous work in order to make a buck) and took the time to get to know me. I actually look forward to going back.

★★★★★

I came to Rosie with a few decades worth of severe, atypical dental needs. No other dentist would talk to me, at age 29, about full dentures… but Rosie would. She was happy to assess the situation objectively, talk with me about risks and benefits, and found me an oral surgeon who was willing to work with me. She did phenomenal care at every step of the process and made sure my needs came first. I also get to visit SBR as the parent of two young patients, and so I know Rosie’s pediatric skills are just as remarkable as her abilities with adult “difficult” patients (ahem, hello). My four year old has independent visits, complete with their choice of toothpaste flavor and the Moana soundtrack on Pandora. Rosie even has offered us the option of silver diamine fluoride instead of fillings for a couple small cavities on baby teeth, which means easier care and less anxiety for everyone. I cannot imagine going back to a conventional dental practice that isn’t consent-first. Every other dentist had better be taking notes.

★★★★★

First visit today and it was amazing! Wait time was less than 5 minutes. I got my X-rays done and a cleaning. Afsoon ( sorry if I misspelled) the dental hygienist was profession, kind, and did a fanatic job. She was very gentle and did a thorough cleaning. Dr. Wagner was very nice and also took her time looking at my teeth. Thank goodness I found a reliable dental place. The place I went to 6 months ago said I had 10 new cavities and that is without an X-ray. I did not believe them. Today I had my check up and basically Dr. Wagner said I have no new cavities and everything looks good. Also you get a heat pad for your neck during the cleaning, warm towels and spa rocks. It was cool!

This is my first Yelp review – Smiles By Rosie is that good. I’ve always had low-to-mild dentist anxiety – usually pretty manageable. The dentist I used for the better part of the last decade wore me down, though – appointments always went very long, procedures were drawn out and uncomfortable, I was always made to feel it was partially my fault (“your tongue is too big” was something he would constantly tell me, to provide clarity why the procedure was taking so long). Eye-rolls at my sensitive gagging reflex, and comments such as “patients tell me I don’t use enough Novocaine” were also instances that increased my anxiety a little and made me dread my appointments. I still wasn’t even actively looking for a change (lazy), but my wife then started going to Smiles By Rosie to appease her overwhelming anxiety, and I accompanied her to help her feel better as well. I could immediately tell I wanted to switch – the aesthetic of the office is so comforting. Natural light, lack of fluorescent light – that nerve-wracking feeling you get when you usually walk into a dental office that you don’t even realize doesn’t happen here. Immediately puts you at ease. From there, the lengths they go to keep you comfortable are astounding. I usually skip most of them – your choice of music, hot towel, aromatherapy – it’s unreal. All of the hygienists and dentists are extremely kind, and the way they speak to patients is such a welcome change – they tell you just what you need to know without lecturing, and are happy to provide more technical specifics if you want them (and they’ll skip them if you don’t). I honestly believe they will not pursue extra work such as fillings and such unless they really feel they need to – something else I always felt suspect at my last provider. During both cleanings and fillings, they constantly check to see if you are comfortable. Fillings don’t start until a series of small easy tests ensure you are completely numb. Different methods are used to make sure your jaw doesn’t ache from keeping your mouth open, and my awful gag reflex is never triggered. I am amazed when I hear “almost done” – procedures are so fast and seamless, and my last dentist would usually be just WARMING up by the time Rosie and her team are WRAPPING up. The office team is outstanding, too – I fire off whatever inane question I have at the moment, and I get an email back from Kelli super fast. I see that if there are any detractors people list here, it’s the long wait until you can get an appointment – it may in fact take some time, but it’s seriously a testament to how amazing the service is here. The fact that so many people want to bail on their usual dentist misery and not have to worry about it speaks for the reputation of Smiles By Rosie alone. We used to live in Malden, and the commute was convenient. We’re now practically in New Hampshire, and I don’t bat an eye at the +/- hour it now takes me to get there; totally worth it. I’m telling you – call them!

★★★★★

I used to hate going to the dentist, but now I almost look forward to it! Rosie is thorough and kind and I don’t feel like I’m being scared into unnecessary treatments, as some other dentists do. I love my hygienist too! She is gentle and quick and this last time I went the cleaning was even relaxing- I almost felt like I’d had a spa treatment! It’s a busy practice and you have to schedule far in advance, but it’s definitely worth it!

★★★★★

I had a really wonderful experience here. The staff was super friendly and professional and I left feeling educated and empowered about my dental care. I have a lot of anxiety when going to the dentist, and Dr. Rosie and her team really helped to make me feel at ease. I especially liked when Dr. Rosie took the time to go over my x rays with me. I had never had them explained in such detail and I really appreciate that it was important for her that I have the opportunity to understand and ask questions. Can’t wait to go back and follow up with my treatment plan. Thank you, Smiles by Rosie!

★★★★★

I was cautiously optimistic when I read on the Smiles by Rosie website: “No judgment. No lectures. You’ve never been to a dentist like this.” This turned out to be an understatement. Dr. Rosie and Erika were kind, attentive and patient with my questions. The cleaning was the most pleasant possible experience and Erika was very thoughtful. Dr. Rosie took the time to discuss various options for my dental work, as well as share the likely cost of some of the procedures. On top of all that, the office is well designed to be comfortable and relaxing. I never thought I’d like a dentist, but this place has won me over.

★★★★★

This is the best dentist office I have ever been to. Like most people, I absolutely hate going to the dentist and have had my share of painful experiences, upcharges, and slimy practices. Smiles by Rosie was a complete turnaround. Dr. Rosie was welcoming and comforting, and Erica, the assistant who took care of me, was incredibly patient, kind, and thorough. I was really impressed by how much effort this team makes to make the environment as comfortable as possible for the patients: everything from tea in the waiting room, to picking your music, to heated pillows…! Overall, I would not hesitate to travel back to the area to see either Dr. Rosie and Erica once again, it is definitely worth it.

★★★★★

First-time patient, and it could not have been a more pleasant experience. Everyone in the office is polite and friendly, very professional, and most accommodating. My technician was superb, and Dr. Rosie is the best. I hope to be a patient for years to come, and will highly recommend Smiles By Rosie to anyone looking for a great dental experience.

★★★★★

Dr. Wagner is wonderful. Her office is high tech and state of the art while also warm and welcoming. I love the xray “gun”. No time needed to sit and wait while they develop films! Best part of the visit – flavored toothpaste. Raspberry – yum! I love that this is a paperless office so it is clutter free. Everyone is professional and welcoming.

★★★★★

I recently moved and wanted to find a dentist in close proximity to my new apartment. After reading all of the reviews posted about Smiles By Rosie, I decided to visit the practice. I had chipped a front tooth and I wanted to have it checked. I was scheduled for an appointment immediately. Dr. Wagner was courteous and professional. She explained different options for treating the “chip”. She handled the procedure, which was painless. Dr. Wagner and her team also provided me with some valuable information about dental insurance. My entire experience was completely positive and I intend to become a permanent patient of the practice. Dr. Rosie rocks and so does the lavender color motif of the office.

★★★★★

This is my first Yelp post and I can’t think of a better reason to jump in. All the amazing reviews of Smiles By Rosie are spot on. For many years, I was all-things-dental phobic but had finally gotten better about it after I found a wonderful dentist 10 years ago. When he recently retired, I was not looking forward to going to a new dentist but I should have known that my old dentist would not have put his trust in anyone other than someone like Dr. Wagner. She and her team (Afsoun, Kelli, Angela) are remarkably considerate, professional, skilled, and warm. Beyond her skills as a dentist, she has an incredible “chairside manner”. Respectful, thorough, and able to explain things in terms I could understand. I also really appreciate the efforts Dr. Wagner has made with the space — it is welcoming and calming while being state-of-the-art; not always an easy combination to pull off. Lucky for everyone in our area that Dr. Wagner is here!

★★★★★

I didn’t know I could enjoy going to the dentist until trying Rosie’s office.  Her staff make scheduling and insurance simple.  They make you comfortable and try anything to help it there is discomfort. I didn’t know a cleaning could be so gentle, either!  The atmosphere is relaxing and pleasant and I think my favorite perk is the custom music mix in the treatment space. Dr. Rosie sets a new standard for medical offices.

★★★★★

Smiles by Rosie is perfect for people who want a low-stress dentist. I hadn’t been to the dentist in more than a decade, and I knew I needed some serious work thanks to a car accident. Anxiety plagued me because I was worried about being judged for my past mistakes. My teeth were in rough shape. I emailed many dentists before deciding on Smiles by Rosie. Dr. Wagner took the time to answer all of my questions about insurance, appointments, and my anxiety about going to the dentist. Other offices simply asked me to call or sign up for an appointment. Dr. Wagner instead did not pressure me into calling or committing but explained her philosophy. It still took me over a month and a half to schedule my appointment, and I was anxious when I walked in. However, the soothing purple walls, quick waiting time, and friendly staff put me at ease. Dr. Wagner is a sweet woman. She asked me what my dental goals were. When I explained that I wanted to smile without feeling hesitant and wanted to improve my oral health, she developed a plan for me. I have now had deep cleanings started, two teeth extracted, and a partial denture prepared. This is all in a matter of months. This is great office full of people who really care. They are always very specific about co-payments and insurance. It is nice to finally feel supported. I highly recommend them to anyone who has been lurking around these boards hoping to find a caring and supportive dentist. You will not be disappointed. My life has changed thanks to Dr. Wagner and Smiles by Rosie! & of course, who doesn’t want a heating wrap on the neck during work or to choose their own Pandora station (first visit I chose Frank Ocean and the second visit was all about some Mariah Carey holiday music).

★★★★★

Smiles by Rosie is WONDERFUL! Very relaxed, friendly and efficient office. My daughter’s former dentist office closed recently and we went to Smiles by Rosie and what a difference! She had always disliked going to the dentist. But after her first visit with Dr. Wagner, she bounced out of the office saying “this is the best dentist office ever!” which was such a relief! I am also a patient there. I had “blown off” the dentist for several years. They encouraged me to schedule and appointment without any judgment or lectures which was so nice. I have had a few procedures the past two months and I have to say they were mostly pain and anxiety free. They make a point of ensuring comfort for their patients. The office is also extremely organized and efficient. You receive several reminders about appointments. However not too many so as not to be annoying. They also are great about informing you of copays which is so helpful and there are no surprises. Huge thumbs up for Smiles by Rosie! If you live in the Somerville, Cambridge Boston area and are looking for a dentist…GO THERE!!

★★★★★

My first positive dental experience — ever! Haven’t been in a few years, but was given educational feedback for the first time. Was able to be involved in the exam, even learned how to take proper care of my mouth by watching the majority of the examination in my own mirror. I’ve never more comfortable in a dentist’s chair, already looking forward to my next visit.

★★★★★

Dr Rosie Wagner and her team are absolutely the best. They are true professionals and make you feel welcomed during your visit. I know many people are scared to go to the dentist. Definitely not here, trust me, you will feel great after your regular dental cleaning or check up. Definitely recommend . A+

★★★★★

Have been going to Smiles By Rosie for 2-3 years and their staff is great! Very friendly and positive! They make every effort to have you be relaxed and calm during your appointment. From aroma therapy, a hot neck towel, picking a playlist on pandora, and handing out a hot face towel at the end, this place is awesome!! Never had any of these treatments from other dentist’s offices I have been to. Will continue to come until I can’t…which is hopefully never!

★★★★★

I found Dr. Wagner more than two years ago after not being to a dentist for a quite a few years. When I first met her and saw how youthful she was, I immediately wondered about how experienced she could be… But, after experiencing her knowledge and skillful probing while diagnosing the actual cause and potential severity of of my condition, I felt progressively more secure. The problem ended up actually NOT being directly caused by an inflamed tooth, and the consult armed with the certainty that made it possible to verify that tonsillar cancer caused by HPV was actually causing the swelling in my tonsil. Two years after successful treatment and continued remission, I am still receiving the same skillful care and optimistic outlook towards successful dental care. I highly recommend Dr. Rosie, especially if you have had an unpleasant experience with a dentist before… Thanks Dr. Rosie!

★★★★★

Best dentist I’ve ever been to. Getting an appointment can get tricky, if you’re on the wait list. You have to be quick on the Reply button. However, I’ve made appointments up to 6 months out, and never experienced any issues with those, either. Hardly have to wait, I’m in the dentist chair within minutes of arriving. They’re always super courteous, accommodating and patient. It seems like their patient list has grown substantially, so it might get harder to get an appointment; but if you can get one, I can’t recommend this place enough.

★★★★★

The best! These guys are the best dental practice ever! I no longer liver in Somerville, but there is no question of going anywhere else. The care is up-to-date and I feel like I am getting the best recommendations. Also, the softer side of things is great — warm neck pillow, aromatherapy, and sometimes if there is time at the end of the appointment, a complimentary neck massage. They are friendly and kind and really care. Highly recommend!

★★★★★

I never review anything, but I think I’ve left reviews for Smiles by Rosie on every conceivable outlet available. I hate the dentist, I’m neurotic about my teeth, and I still don’t LOVE it, but let’s just say that Dr Wagner and her staff makes it as pleasant as a visit to the dentist is ever going to get. The website says, “no judgment” and they mean it, there is no judgment, just a genuine interest in getting you the best possible care. The office is set-up in such a way that it’s not that awful sterile white of a doctor’s office, it’s quiet, and the lighting is very soft. It’s the kind of place you’d take a nap in if it weren’t full of dental equipment. Your cleaning is done by hygienists who are gentle and genuinely interested in your health and soothing any anxiety you may have! The doctors are very soft-spoken, calming, and lovely. The option for nitrous oxide (“Laughing Gas”) exists for if/when you need to have work done and at any point, for cleaning or work, you are able to choose your own Pandora station! Every time I leave, I always comment on how nice everyone is and I’ve been a patient for just over two years now! There has been almost no staff turn over, with the exception of people going on to pursue more education in dentistry, which I think is a massive testimony to the work environment and Dr Wagner’s character. Seeing familiar faces there every time I go really helps with my anxiety. There is absolutely no judgment and, perhaps what I appreciate most is the focus on self-care and the conservative approach to dentistry. Too often dentists are keen to drill, poke, replace, crown, etc. and the conservative approach is so refreshing and much appreciated!!! Highly recommend Dr Wagner and everyone at Smiles by Rosie!

★★★★★

It really doesn’t get much better than this. I love Afsoun, my hygienist, who treats me like gold. She gives me a neck pillow, gives me an aromatherapy choice, provides hot stones, and lets me choose my flavor of toothpaste. She is such a wonderful person. I always enjoy our conversations. I told my friends at work that it is like a spa treatment. I leave feeling relaxed and never mind going to the dentist, something most people dread!

★★★★★

This is, hands down, the most organized, thoughtful, and thorough dental practice I’ve ever been to.  Rosie’s attention to detail is remarkable, and she even showed me the x-rays of my teeth while explaining to me what I was seeing, which I thought was very cool!  Erika did my cleaning, and again I was struck by the thoroughness – and it was very nice to told before each step what was going to be done.  There are so many nice touches here, including the warm neck pillow and getting to choose a Pandora station!  I didn’t know that a visit to the dentist could be so relaxing.  Everyone here is amazing at what they do, and the thought they put into keeping patients both physically and mentally comfortable throughout the visit ensures that I’ll be sticking with this dentist as long as I am in the area.

★★★★★

Absolutely the best dentist I have seen in my almost 40 years! Rosie is the best and her staff is great as well. They provide you a warm towel to clean your face and a warm neck pillow while waiting, they ask you what music you want to hear and the whole place is like a Zen centre. I totally love it and our son (2yrs old) loves them, too!

★★★★★

Dr. Rosie, Dr. Anna and the whole team at Smiles By Rosie are amazing. They take the time to explain every part of the process, not only the dental procedures but also how to plan the timing of treatments to maximize insurance benefits. In addition to being skilled professional, the extra touches during each visit are incredible – from choice in music to a hot towel to relax when it’s all over. I highly recommend Smiles By Rosie!

★★★★★

This place is as valuable as an honest car mechanic. I was anxious about my appointment after not having been to the dentist for a while, but the staff put me at ease. After I let them know about my apprehension, they even gave me a neck warmer to help me relax before my cleaning. Dr. Rosie herself is kind and compassionate, and was extremely helpful in answering all of my questions honestly. My previous dentist gave me tons of fillings and recommended braces to fix teeth that had migrated a little after I stopped wearing my retainer. I now wonder now if I even needed all the work he did on me (according to Dr. Rosie I didn’t need any fillings), and after Dr. Rosie told me that I didn’t need to do another round of braces, I’m sure he was just looking for a referral fee from the orthodontist.

★★★★★

This is a special dentist! Everyone is friendly and kind. It is a welcoming environment where every person goes out of their way to make you comfortable and happy…. from tea in the waiting room, to your choice of music during the exam, to sunglasses to keep the bright lights out of your eyes. On top of that, it’s great dentistry too!

★★★★★

By far the best experience at a dentist I have ever had. The entire staff was incredibly friendly, thoughtful, and attentive. They were knowledgeable and careful to do a good job, while being considerate of my needs and made sure I was comfortable. The building was welcoming and calming, and everything was organized and easy. I never thought I would look forward to going back too the dentist but I’m excited for my next appointment in 6 months. I was stressed trying to pick a dentist in the area with so many choices, but this one was close, easy to schedule, and covered by insurance and I’m so glad I stumbled onto this gem! Dr. Wagner and the entire staff are wonderful. Do yourself a favor and come here if you’re looking for a dentist. Best place ever.

★★★★★

We have not had as good an experience in a dentist’s office as this one in a very long time. Dr Rosie herself and her staff went out of their way to make my 25 year-old cognitively disabled daughter feel comfortable and relaxed. The procedure went swimmingly and they knew exactly what to do to control her anxiety and deal with a persistent case of gag reflex. We did not even had to resort to using nitrous oxide –which was the original plan. Our only disappointment is that my daughter lives too far from Dr Rosie’s office (Newton, no practical public transportation options) to change to her as a regular dentist, otherwise we’d switch in a heartbeat. When was the last time any of you out there felt genuinely happy after a dentist visit? We cannot recommend Smiles by Rosie highly enough.

★★★★★

WONDERFUL Dentist and WONDERFUL dental practice.  Everyone here is professional, pleasant, and attentive.  I have been to many dentists in the past, and this one is BY FAR my favorite.  I feel so lucky to have found them.  They have seemingly state of the art equipment, and a really keen sense of customer service.  I can not recommend them enough.  THANKS  Dr.ROSIE!, and Erika, and Kelli ! and x-ray technician who’s name I don’t recall.  You all make dental visits very gratifying.

★★★★★

It is a fabulous office with welcoming staff and I have never met a more friendly and easy to talk to dentist. I accompanied my partner there and after chatting with Dr. Wagner on the followup care plan, I made an appointment for myself! They really mean it on the judgement-free, no lecture byline. Without being negative, Dr. Wagner put together a treatment plan for someone who hadn’t been to a dentist in over a decade. I was truly impressed with the people skills as well as the technical.

★★★★★

I first visited Smiles By Rosie for a cleaning because I had a groupon, and I later returned for a filling. The first thing I noticed was how restful the atmosphere is–the lighting is gentle, the walls have pictures of flowers and animals, and the paper screens that divide the space give it the air of a spa. There’s tea in the waiting room, which isn’t cluttered with out-of-date magazines. I didn’t spend long in there, though, because I wasn’t kept waiting for more than a few minutes. Everyone was very gentle and non-judgmental. I haven’t had dental insurance in a very long time, so I tend to go a long time between cleanings and really only visit the dentist when I know there’s a problem, but no one condescended to me. When I came for the cavity filling, I was a little afraid of the pain because Novocaine doesn’t do anything for me, and I had bad experiences when I was younger with it. Rosie actually said that, because of the position of the cavity, I would probably be fine without any numbing or nitrous oxide. I was skeptical, but she assured me that if I felt anything, she would stop and give me something. She was right, though–I hardly felt anything, let alone pain! It was amazing, and I was able to walk out of there feeling entirely pain-free and numbness-free! I actually felt like I didn’t have anything done! I get the impression that all of the instruments are high tech, but not just for the sake of being cutting edge. I once went to a dentist who bragged about having some new laser or something, and I thought he sounded like he was repeating the sales pitch that had obviously worked on him. At Smiles By Rosie, the hand held x-ray machine and other instruments don’t feel like gratuitous gadgetry–they actually made the whole experience go by faster and more smoothly. I like the check in process and the reminder emails and texts (which are optional, but I found them helpful). Here’s something other reviews haven’t mentioned yet: Smiles By Rosie has no advertisements on the walls or at the check in desk. Most of the dentists I’ve visited in the past have had advertisements around the office, either posters or brochures, for cosmetic dentistry or braces or even just brands of dental products. It’s as annoying to me as reading through an issue of Cosmo. I’ve never really felt badly about my teeth–I had a tooth positioner at one point as a kid but never needed braces–but I think these sorts of ads would irritate me a lot if I felt self-conscious about my smile. But aside from making me feel vaguely bad about not having perfect teeth, ads for cosmetic dentistry give me the feeling that dentistry is more cosmetic than medical, which isn’t at all the impression I want to have when I’m going in for what I see as a medical procedure. Ads cheapen dentistry, and I didn’t realize how much I resented them until I went to Smiles By Rosie and felt the difference. I’ve also been to dentists who have posters about gingivitis, which gross me out but don’t really educate me the way having someone just explain what’s going on does (which Rosie does well). I suspect scare tactics probably don’t work to improve patients’ behavior, though I feel like someone who hangs posters about gum disease has their heart in the right place, or at least a better place than someone plastering ads for teeth whitening on the walls. Between the lack of ads and the very tasteful and relaxing atmosphere, I’d say Smiles By Rosie has the best environmental psychology of any dentist I’ve ever visited. If I stay in the Boston area when I graduate, I plan to continue to come here!
