Dr. Rod Zimmerman (Dr. Z) and his son Dr. Frank have given me wonderful care for some very serious dental work and treatment. Catering to cowards is why I first saw Dr. Z many many years ago and it is the reason I am currently willing to drive from an hour away. I am seriously afraid of dental work, and they and their staff treat me with much care and compassion. They put me at ease and make sure I am comfortable in all respects. They do excellent work and the staff is superb. I highly recommend this wonderful team. I would give them 10 stars if I could!

Very happy with Dr. Z and his staff. I never liked going to the dentist and hadn’t for a while so some of my teeth were  in rough shape. One of my back teeth almost should have been pulled but Dr. Z was able to save the tooth and put a crown on it. He is very good at what he does. I moved from the Mandarin area to the White House area of town. I make the further drive because it’s worth it.

Dr Zimmerman is and has been my dentist going on 30 years. He caters to Cowards, I know because that’s me. I had such bad dentists while growing up, as a child all they did was pull teeth. I went to Dr Z office and that changed my life. A Smile shows confidence. Dr Z fixed my teeth for me and was willing work with on payment plan back in 1990. He could have made money off of me by grinding down teeth and putting in bridges but he Didn’t. He recommended braces to pull teeth straight and move forward. This not only decrease the gaps between my teeth, it allowed room for my bottom wisdom teeth. I live in Fleming Island and I drive to Dr Z because he is a GREAT dentist, he has never hurt me, and he is Honest. If your afraid of the dentist, Dr Zimmerman is the dentist you need. He has a great staff too.

Dr. Zimmerman has a lot of wisdom and experience. I recommend whatever you may need done from a cleaning to extraction he is the gentleman to get I done. very friendly and makes you feel very comfortable. Dr.Z with his son have been the best experience I have ever had at a dentist office my 30years on this earth. I will definitely go back if I ever need dental work or another tooth pulled again. Very impressed to get my tooth extracted on a Saturday which is Halloween and didn’t have a problem with coming in the same day. I highly recommend!!!

I did get a call from Dr. Z on a Saturday afternoon several weekends ago, apologizing about the miscommunication and problematic appointment notification system put in place, which failed when my six-month cleaning was approaching in late February. He invited me to reschedule my cleaning with him, which I did and came in the following Friday. The cleaning was quick (less than an hour) and I was able to get on with my Friday afternoon. In this situation, I appreciate the fact that Dr. Z and his staff stepped up, admitted they had problems and did what they did to correct them and make good for me. We’re all human and mistakes will be made at times, so I’ve revised my rating to five stars and chalk this up to human error. And I did get my six-month appointment reminder by email the week after I scheduled it. 🙂 ORIGINAL REVIEW: I’ve been going to Dr. Zimmerman’s office since 1997 when I moved to Jacksonville. During my last cleaning in late 2020, I got a very hard-core press from Dr. Z and the new hygienist to begin a series of “deep cleanings,” which struck me as odd since I’d never had a problem with my teeth or a cavity in my life and my cleanings were pretty much standard yawn sessions. After my cleaning I signed up for my regular 6-month interval appointment, which was supposed to be 2/22/21. For this appointment, I never got a reminder call, email or text, which are their normal ways of confirming your appointment. When I called the office that morning to see what was going on, about 8 a.m., I got an answering machine, which again struck me as odd since it was a Monday morning. No one ever called me back from my message, and it’s a week later. I don’t see any indication online — via their outdated social media or their website — that they are closed, but I can’t help but wonder if that hard-core press to begin deep cleanings was a last-ditch effort to earn some business and stay open. Anyway, I’m looking for a new dentist now. I wish they had been honest and communicated with some transparency, whether they’re open or not.

My experience with both long and short visits have been pleasant and comforting when getting dental work from Dr Zimmerman. There is something to be said when you have a personal one on one relationship between patient and caregiver that small over night institutions don’t provide. This has allowed me to have confidence in my treatment and knowing the recommendations the DMD provides is best and most necessary for my path to a healthy mouth. I would recommend Dr. Zimmermans office to not only those who have had a bad experience in the past but to those who are seeking to begin a new treatment plan with someone who is excellent at what they do and really enjoys to build relations with clients!

Dr. Zimmerman is a fantastic dentist and person. I have serious white coat syndrome, it can be pretty stressful for me going to the dentist. Dr. Z was conscience of this and worked with me. Now, I have absolutely no apprehension when visiting the dentist, because I know I have a great one! I can’t say enough nice stuff about the staff, super friendly and knowledgeable. Thank you!!!! Dr. Zimmerman fixed teeth I thought were too far gone. Do not hesitate – make an appointment, you’ll fell a whole lot better.

I had a terrible fear of the dentist until I met Dr. Z and his caring staff. I’ve been a patient for over 10 years and actually look forward to my visits. I’ve no doubt they sincerely care about my health and comfort. I’m always treated like family. They make every effort to put you at ease and make sure your experience is as pleasant and painless as possible. Sit back in a massaging chair and listen to music, watch tv and relax while they go to work. Dr. Z is always up on the latest technologies and techniques and provides the highest level of care. Look no further for a dentist!

I have been a patient nearly 20 years with Dr Zimmerman along with my husband and four children. He has always been THE most honest dentist with my family. He is definitely as gentle as can be when either my husband and I have had any procedures like cavities & root canals. We can’t imagine going anywhere else. His staff is friendly & helpful. An amazing dentist!! I called Dr Zimmerman on a Sunday in alot of pain. Despite being a weekend and dealing with ongoing office renovations, Dr Z saw me immediately and didn’t rush; he took his time checking everything and explained in detail the issues found, how they developed and what my options were. He did everything possible to ensure my comfort over the following weeks. To speak to his dedication – During this time, the city was closing offices due to a hurricane passing through. While Dr Zimmerman didn’t ask his staff to do so, he came into the office during the hurricane to care for a patient and gave out his cell # so we could reach him in case of emergency or if the pain escalated. At no time did I feel as though I was going through this alone. I had a good amount of dental work done and probably wasn’t the most pleasant patient at times, but everyone in his office went above and beyond to be patient, kind and reassuring. I used to go to a local corporate ran dental office with a revolving door of new dentists each time I went in. After seeing Dr Zimmerman, going to the dentist no longer has to be a negative experience. Thank you Smile Resort for treating me so well!

I highly recommend A smile resort by Dr. Rod Zimmerman. Dr. Zimmerman and his staff are very well educated, polite and professional. I was in and out and educated on care and follow up procedure. Dr. Z at A Smile Resort will be the only dentist working on me and my family.
