I have never been to a dentist before. Honesty felt very embarrassed and nervous to go. As I open the door to doctor Shalman’s office I was greeted with nothing but smiles and happiness. I was taken step by step what to expect and what they were going to do. Everyone was super nice. I got an x-ray of my mouth and a cleaning. While getting the x-ray and my cleaning they made sure I was comfortable throughout the whole process. From asking me what type of music I would like to listen to and seeing if I was okay during. When my cleaning was done I shocked. I never knew all the build up and yellow would disappear. I honestly thought I would go my whole life with my teeth like that. I couldn’t stop laughing and touching my teeth. The where literally squeaky clean. I was just amazed. Again I couldn’t stop touching my teeth lol Before leaving I was even given a little gift bag! Dr Shalman was very patient in explaining the state of my wisdom tooth and why it was in pain. When I didn’t understand something, he used his camera tool to give me a visualization of my tooth. During my wisdom tooth extraction, he explained everything to me from beginning to end and made sure I was properly numbed. His office staff are super friendly and empathetic, and environment is super fun and creative. It was a great fun to be in his office!

I had such a great experience with Dr. Shalman and his staff. From the moment I walked in, I could feel their warmth and it put me right at ease. I really appreciated all of the little touches of the office like a cute little gift bag when leaving and the Nespresso machine. What I was most impressed by, however, was the transparency. While taking x-rays, they set it up so the images pop up in front of you and show you what percentage of your mouth has been completed. The doctor then walked me through each one of my slides. What a great experience! I just got back from my first appointment with Dr. Shalman and it was such a pleasant experience. From the second I walked in I was greeted by a warm smile from Dr. Shalman and his wife Marina which made me feel extremely comfortable. Dr. Alex Shalman is “hands-down” the best dentist in NYC. From the moment you walk into the office- you know you have been transformed to a new kind of dentistry. As a kid, my visit to the dentist was less than good. Cue 3 hour waiting periods without seeing the dentist for more than 3 minutes. That could not be more different than the reality it is to work with Dr. Alex. The doctor greets you at the door with a hug and a kiss. He makes you feel welcome and then you are immersed in the gorgeous atmosphere that is his office. His staff is so lovely and attentive. Then, you get to the really great part which is the actual service. You get to watch your Netflix of choice as he takes meticulous care of you. I went in for a teeth whitening and it was a divine experience. I cannot believe I would say such a thing about an experience with a dentist! But- with Dr. Alex- it’s easy to say such great things. I came Across Dr. Shalman from Instagram 🙂 and I am sooo Happy I found him! For many, going to the dentist can be so annoying and painful that they don’t even get their bi annual checkups. I went in for a cleaning and a set of X-rays and I couldn’t be more pleased! Dr. Shalman was super gentle, which is very important to me since I can be the biggest baby, and have super low pain tolerance. He made me feel very at ease and talked me through everything he was doing. One thing I really liked is that he wasn’t rushed, he literally took 5 minutes with one tooth, made sure he didn’t move to the next until that one was sparkly clean. His assistant Christine is extremely sweet and professional. She was able to accommodate me even with my insane schedule, also reminded me of my appointment the day before. My name is Dr. Alex Shalman, and I am a cosmetic dentist in New York City and New Jersey. I am also a fifth generation dentist. Since my great, great grandmother finished dental school in 1917 to become one of the first female dentists in Moscow, Russia, my family has been practicing dentistry for nearly 100 years. I am the first male dentist. I am obsessed with aesthetic and reconstructive dentistry, and I specialize in designing beautiful, healthy smiles with innovative technology. My desire for knowledge and belief in constant and never-ending improvement has led me to meet and learn cutting edge dentistry from some of the most prominent dental professionals in the world. My involvement in the dental community includes teaching at my alma mater NYUCD, advising the NYU Aesthetics Society and Participating in the University Relations committee in the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry.
