I came here because my usual dentist has been pushing for a couple crowns and root canal and I needed a second opinion. My consultation with Dr Talmood went smooth and she didn’t think I would need the treatment my other dentist had suggested. She instead suggested 4 filling replacements on my lower right to start with, since I had cold sensitivity on that side and my fillings were like 15 years old and started to shrink (metal). I have to mention that I have a terrible fear of dentists. It goes way back to when I was a kid. I was so afraid of losing baby teeth that I wouldn’t pull it out and I would end up at the dentist, who was not nice at all but he was the only one in my little town. I went through many traumatic extractions. Also, as a kid, I loved to chew on candies and as a result, I always had cavities. A lot of my teeth have that ugly metal filling. I went through a few painful fillings as well. All of these past experiences came up when it was time to replace the fillings with Dr Talmood. I got myself very worked up and anxious. Just the thought of doing four at once seemed like the worst idea I could’ve think of. When the time came to numb me with a topical first then the needle, I was very much freaked out. Dr Talmood saw how stressed I was and tried to calm me down by telling me some of her own childhood dental experiences. Hers were worst than mine, but what really helped me trust her at that moment, was that she said that because of her bad experiences, she decided to become a dentist herself, because she knew that there had to be a better way of treating patients. Now that’s something I could relate to. I worked as a phlebotomist for a few years and knowing that most people had a fear to needles, I always tried to be as gentle and painless as I could. Dr Talmood took her time with me. She gave me some tea and when she was injecting the anesthesia, she did so slowly. This helped a lot. After applying the anesthetic, Dr waited some time to  make sure I was completely  numb  before continuing (10-15 min). My filling replacements (4) were painless from that point forward. She used amalgam as the filler and did an excellent job. I didn’t feel like she took a long time, considering I was still a little nervous. She took maybe 45 min to an hour? It was hard to keep track of time. After everything was done, she gave me some after care instructions and that was it. So I highly recommend this dentist to anyone who has fear or even anyone that wants things done right. She’s a perfectionist and she truly cares for her patients.
