I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Cheng – she is by far the best dentist I’ve ever had. My teeth are highly sensitive and prone to decay and breaking due to various factors (genetics, lack of dental insurance for 8 years, medications that cause severe dry mouth and speed up decay, some poor eating choices on my part, unconsciously grinding and jaw-clenching, receding and sensitive gums, past few years as a poor grad student, etc…). I have had negative experiences with a few dentists in the past, especially when they have made me feel bad about something out of my control or something I cannot afford. But not once has Dr. Cheng made me feel this way – she had me leaving from my first appt (evaluation and cleaning) feeling hopeful. She is very professional, understanding, patient, and caring which has been very comforting. She gave me control over my treatment plan and listened my preferences and concerns and also explained my insurance coverage and out of pocket expenses so I could go home with a full understanding and confidence about my situation. She is highly skilled, efficient, and gentle in her work and I feel lucky to have come across Dr. Cheng and her incredibly kind, professional, and helpful staff. Her office is clean, comfortable, and easy to access. I’ve never experienced a wait or an issue of any kind… I always leave feeling appreciated and well-cared for. Dr. Cheng provides quality care to her patients. I had an emergency situation where I was in so much dental pain. Best PAIN FREE DENTIST ever and I don’t say that lightly. I am truly a scary a– when it comes to going to the Dentist. I ALWAYS have a little of the “happy gas” before any procedure…even a simple cleaning but here I don’t even think about it. She has done everything from x-rays to cleanings to a dang Root Canal and when I tell you once she numbs you thats the last thing you feel…I MEAN THAT ! Fast, friendly and through. I love the ladies at the front desk, the billing is straightforward and easy…(no hidden fees or cost at the last minute), the office is very clean and they have extra processes in place for Covid19. I selfishly hesitated to even write this review because I wanted to keep her on the down low but my conscious overruled…that is how good this place really is.

Hi guys I visited Dr. HELLEN CHENG close to three weeks ago with alot of pain didn’t know what’s was going on with my root canal, but when I went to her office she checked me up took some xrays and found that I had root canal wrongly done and with infection which was done somewhere else outside US. She repeated the entire process of root canal and within few weeks all was well, she professionally did her job and I’m a proof because I’m the one who was in pain. Dr. Chen is excellent Dentist. She took my damaged tooth and put new slip dentrial tooth the same day, and the dentrial tooth work perfect for me! It is amazing! I could not believe it because several dentists I visited said it take a few week before new slip dentrial tooth can be placed. I used it for 6 months and then went back to make slightly adjustment. I had used a Smyrna area dentist prior to Dr. Cheng. Doctor Cheng is far more personally attentive ( she does the cleanings herself) and she does not push me to have unnecessary dental procedures. Plus her office fees are actually the amount contracted by my insurance-so no co-pays for my semi-annual checkups. If you want fancy chairs and decor, plus glossy full color ads, she is not the right dentist for you. So I hadn’t been to a dentist in over 10 years so I had rightfully anxious walking in to get my teeth deep cleaned. They had prescribed me something for my anxiety before coming in and although it was helpful, I was still pretty nervous. The lady checking me passes this info on to the dentist and she came in and helped talked my fears completely down. She was very transparent about everything that was happening and asked what scared me the most. She gave me options which helped me feel like I had some control. I ended up having to get some injections but she did them as gently as possible and talked me through them the whole time. I was advised to come back every 3 months to be be honest, I’m not too nervous about the next appointment now

I really like Dr. Cheng, she knows what she is doing. I like the fact that she does my cleaning instead of a hygienist. Today I had an emergency appointment because of a toothache. After examining and x-ray found out my wisdom tooth was cracked. She said it needed to come out but I didn’t know she would extract it the same day. I expressed that I was nervous and she made me feel real comfortable when she said I wouldn’t feel it and that she will have the tooth out in less than 10 minutes. To my surprise it was out in about 3 minutes…wow! She’s done other work on my teeth and always does a good job.

Dr. Helen Cheng has more than 25 years of experience in dentistry. She received her DDS and master's in oral medicine China and practiced several years before coming to the United States in 1992 and completing her post-doctoral training at the University of North Carolina. After numerous research publications, she moved on to the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine, where she received her American DMD in 2001. Dr. Cheng is committed to a kind and caring approach toward comprehensive dentistry. She is a believer in preventive care and total wellness through patient education. With her many years of basic dental science training and clinical experience, she provides high-quality work in cosmetic dentistry, root canal treatment, crown and bridge work, dentures, implants and extractions.
