Hi, I usually am not a typical person to write reviews upon anything but, after my most recent appointment with, Dr. Karey Matthews I feel as I should. I went into Attentive Dental Care in Morristown, NJ on Feb 1, 2020, to get my wisdom teeth removed. I’ve heard stories from close friends/relatives on how much pain, suffering, discomfort, and time it would take to not only get the teeth removed…But also, the recovery of the procedure. Well my case, was extremely different. Very Very Well! I entered the waiting room, sat down for a couple of minutes, went in, and in not even 30 minutes, Dr. Matthews extracted the wisdom teeth as well as filled a cavity. I had zero pain throughout the operation as well as having little to no pain over the course of its healing. He is very knowledgeable, fast, & takes his time. Little note, he priorities you as long as you need, which is something I rarely see. Needless to say, Dr. Matthews easily is the best dentist, I have ever been to.

Everyone from the front of the office to DDS Matthews is wonderful, kind and accommodating. What makes getting treated at Attentive Dental Care different than many of my other experiences I’ve had with dentists (I have moved around a lot) First, DDS Matthews keeps me well informed in what treatment plan we will go with and why. Taking the time to explain options, steps and timelines. He also treats conservatively with careful purpose. Meaning, there have been times when we could have gone the bigger dental work way, increased fees, etc-But he wants to do what is best to treat, save your teeth, gums, jaw etc. How wonderful not to feel like someone is treating you to get more money, but treating you to give you the best results. DDS Matthews wants to give you great results without always having to be the most expensive option! Amazing! And he has been right every time. No issues. I also appreciate the kindness of the whole staff, who are friendly, nice and seem truly interested in their patients. I have been going to DDS Matthews for 4+ years now and I still feel just as good about my decision to be a patient there as I have day 1.

I regularly travel for work. I make it a point to see Dr Matthews when I’m in the area because I trust him. As stated by other reviewers, Dr Matthews is a caring dentist who makes conservative recommendations with the patient’s best interest as his priority. He takes the time to explain why he wants to pursue a course of action and does so in a manner that doesn’t feel like *sales* — but instead feels like collaboration for treatment. All work I’ve had done by Dr Matthews has held up beautifully, so I feel I’ve gotten my money’s worth… and more: because Dr Matthews treats you like a person. I like his staff, his office is very clean; I even like the magazine offerings and office music! 🙂 Where else can you get your teeth cleaned while reliving your high school connections to Depeche Mode, Brian McKnight, or Tears for Fears?! Ok, what I’m trying to say is: you should totally come here!

Absolutely no pain, he was so caring and kind during my entire visit, putting me at ease during the whole experience. The Doctor himself was so compassionate and caring, spending quality time to speak with me after my cleaning. I never ever book my next appointments in advance, but I already booked my next 6 month cleaning. I have had anxiety my entire life going to the dentist and today that all went away! Dr. Karey Matthews (Attentive Dental Care in Morristown, NJ) has been one of the most wonderful “finds” in a long time! Received a mailing about his practice here in my town, I decided to give him a try since he accepted my insurance (which many other dentists do not). Office was clean, comfy and bright, staff was lovely and helpful, and Dr. Matthews himself, in addition to his impressive resume, top-notch dental training and background, is a gentle, caring, extremely competent dentist. He is also one of the nicest, most interesting and kind-hearted people I have had the pleasure to meet. Now I will keep up my dental regimen (which had fallen by the wayside over the past couple years due to no dental insurance and a general fear of dentists) because I found a great dentist. Dr.karey is my families favorite dentist. He is kind and genuine. He is phenomenal with my 4 young kids which is hard to do. He also takes care of my elderly mother and is very gently with her. He is willing to work with you if necessary whatever the situation may be. My mom has had serious financial struggles and he has helped find a way for her to get care and helped us find an affordable insurance to protect her. He also always asks about her out of concern when I come in with my children. He really cares. I have been going to him since he started here and would never go to anyone else. He’s the man!! Went in to get four wisdom teeth removed. Surgery was painless and Dr Matthews did an excellent job. The healing process went well, no problems there. 2 weeks after the wisdom teeth removal I went back for a root canal and again it was painless and everything went accordingly. Great dental work would reccomend to anybody who needs oral surgery.

I have been to 4 dentist my entire life. Of all the dentists I had, this young man, Dr. Matthews takes the cake. He made me a partial denture, awe man, it fits so perfect after all these years of wearing an uncomfortable one. He is a fine gentleman and super smart with a great Southern Hospitality. The staff are very amazing, professional and nice. Don’t take his niceness for granted or get him twisted. I don’t know even really know where to begin, it was such a positive experience! We had arrived to an appointment scheduled for my wife Krystal and son Michael, admittedly nervous because it was my son’s very first dental appointment. After a shockingly enjoyable 30-40 minute visit, we left the modern yet warm office of Attentive Dental Care. Holding hands with my wife and I, my son bounced up and down as we walked the hall towards the exit of the building. Before stepping a foot outside of the doors Michael stopped us in our tracks to look directly into my eyes and ask “Daddy, can we pleeeaaassse come back again tomorrow?” Need I say more?!? Dr. Karey Matthews and his staff were the best with me and my 5 year-old daughter. My daughter had some cavities and we went to a dentist specialized in kids. This other dentist insisted I should put my daughter to sleep (with a colleague/anesthesiologist she works with at the office) to get all work done so my daughter would not be upset. That option was really extreme and unsafe for a 5 year-old, in addition to very expensive because insurance would not cover it. I consulted with Dr. Matthews and he was super gentle and caring, and was able to fix the cavities while my daughter was at ease and calmed. I highly recommend Dr. Matthews for dental care; and any parent not too be afraid of taking little kids to the dentist and look for options. Even when kids are afraid at first does not mean putting them under full anesthesia should be the first and only option to get dental work done.

My 3-year-old daughter and I had our first dental checkups/teeth cleanings at Attentive Dental Care, and we could not be more pleased or happier there!!! Dr. Matthews and his staff are truly some of the kindest, most knowledgeable and friendly dental professionals I’ve ever met. Our dental hygienist was INCREDIBLE with my daughter, making her feel so welcome, safe and happy from the time we arrived to the time we left. Dr. Matthews took a lot of time to discuss my TMJ issues with me as well, explaining to me what it is and how I can resolve the issues at home with easy TMJ exercises (most dentists I’ve seen will just tell you to get an expensive mouth guard…but he took the time to offer other helpful methods of TMJ resolution, too). I cannot say enough good things about Attentive Dental Care. Super kid-friendly and just friendly in general!

Its staff at the reception is professional and attentive. The are prompt in meeting your needs, helping you set up your appointments and would work with your availability. Hygienists are superb, they are well experienced in the field. And let me not get started about Dr. Matthews, He can work on your teeth having his eyes closed, And he will win an award for doing the best job. His personality, professionalism, knowledge would give you instant confidence in wanting to be his patient. My personal experience with them was remarkable as was my wife’s. I had my wisdom tooth pulled out, and 4 days later I was feeling a swelling (just freaking out for nothing). After calling up the dentist, they schedule me in immediately to see the doctor. It turned out to be nothing. To sum it up in one word the name of this practice says it all “attentive” Do yourself a favor, make an appointment today.

Needless to say, I was absolutely terrified of dentists, like panic attack terrified and it didn’t help that I didn’t have insurance for many of those years. And the fact that I knew I had some major work to be done allowed me to put it off for years until it finally got to the point, that I needed to not only get my teeth fixed but also face my fears. I’m sure my story isn’t toooooo uncommon, although 13 years is a bit pathetic but I find that people just tend to be scared of the dentist. So as a 40 year old man I walked into the office like a big baby and told Dr. Matthews my fears and he assured me I would feel nothing. His natural calm demeanor actually made me believe him and what do you know? I felt absolutely nothing! This includes many fillings and sadly a few extractions. Let me repeat myself, I felt nothing! An extraction without gas?? I didn’t buy it, I thought there’s no way NOT to feel pain while a molar or 3 were being ripped (wrong word) out of my mouth. But the good doctor promised I wouldn’t feel anything and rest assured I didn’t feel a thing! That was yesterday, since then I’ve taken 1 pain pill and have not experienced any discomfort since. As an added bonus, his front desk staff is equally as nice and calming and the office itself is a clean, well lite place that’s just naturally soothing. Moral or the story: take car of your teeth, brush 2-3 times a day and floss blah blah blah. I went to see Dr. Matthews and the rest of his staff after avoiding the dentist for several years. From the front desk to the hygienist, German, I initially saw, they made me feel comfortable and gave me the attention I needed to get my oral care back on track. Beyond their positive and accomodating attitude, most importantly, they did fantastic work. Between the tooth I needed pulled, and the deep cleaning I received, I am not afraid of looking at my teeth and gums for the first time in years. I am also extremely happy with the work Dr. Matthews did with my tooth extraction. It was quick and, most importantly, painless. I didn’t even need to take ibuprofen within 12 hours of the appointment, he did such a good job. When I had a question about my recovery, I received a call back promptly. If you don’t like shots, this is your place! Dr. Matthews offers a unique experience. He is gentle, thorough, and his work is amazing. I came to Dr. Matthews with a fear of dentists and a large dental problem. I have been seeing Dr. Matthews for more than 2 years now and I wouldn’t think of going anywhere else. His solution to my problem left me with a healthy tooth, a better smile, and a trust in his practice. Just this week, I had a little chip come off a tooth. I was able to get into see him the same day and he fixed it on the spot. He needed to give a little novocaine, but I didn’t feel the shot at all! His office staff is also pleasant and caring, they are easy to talk to and provide all the necessary information about costs that you need to know before a procedure. I always schedule my cleanings in advance, but I often need to change them last minute and the staff is very accommodating.
