I have been a patient here for two years….. And I can honestly say I have never been to a more professional, clean, or honest dentist in my life!!! Dr. Mark is amazing!!! He is brilliant. My teeth have never looked better! On a scale of 1-10…. I would give Dr. Mark and his team 1,000. Nobody enjoys the dentist office, but I can say that I actually enjoy going because I know my results are going to be amazing, and pain free. I would VERY STRONGLY RECOMMEND AVENUE OF THE ARTS DENTAL….. THEY ARE SIMPLY THE BEST!
★★★★★
Just visited Dr. Mark recently for my teeth extraction. I was late due to train delayed but he was nice to wait for me. I was nervous since it has been years since I got my teeth done. But I was most impressed with how quick and gentle he worked on me. I didn’t feel any pain during the process! Moreover, I mentioned that I am a student and he also helped me out. Will recommend this place.
★★★★★
Friendly, efficient, and helpful experience overall from my greeting at reception to my x-rays and cleaning (for which Dr. Mark completed the latter in its entirety, and offered extremely useful insights on how to combat my receding gumline using an electric toothbrush). Recommended without reservation to anyone seeking a dentist in the Center City area.
★★★★★
Dr. Mark Hoang is a truly remarkable dentist, who I would recommend to anyone. I have seen him for a cleaning, root canal, filling, and extraction. Time and time again, I was impressed by how gifted he is. What distinguishes Dr. Mark is the superior quality of service he provides. He skillfully integrates the science and art of dentistry. Dr. Mark is very detail-oriented, and this is one profession that it pays to work with a perfectionist! Another outstanding trait was the amount of time he devoted to me – to make sure everything was as gentle as possible, to provide education on the procedures and materials used, and to patiently answer my many questions. It was so refreshing to understand what was being done, why, and how the techniques are superior to dental work I’ve had done in the past. The staff members are also very kind, competent, and professional. If you are looking for an anxiety-free, top of the line dental experience, Avenue of the Arts Dental is the place to go!
★★★★★
Dr. Mark Hoàng has been taking care of my teeth since 2009. I was always afraid of dentists since I had bad experience at a young age. After seeing doctor Mark that changed. He is extremely awesome when it comes to needles and extractions (wisdom tooth extracted). I’ve been following him since then. You won’t be disappointed.
★★★★★
Extremely pleased with the end result of an implant that replaced a root canal. The implant feels like a real tooth, totally natural. Every visit was fast and efficient, and I appreciated NOT being sold on tooth whitening or other treatments, like happens in some other dentist offices. I chose Dr. Mark and Avenue of the Arts Dental because of Yelp reviews, and after seeing a couple other dentists. He did the best job of showing me the nature of the problem, and a fantastic job of fixing it. It did cost a bit more than a dentist with a much fancier office wanted to charge, but I’m not paying for interior decor.
★★★★★
Nice place nice people. But that is not the reason for the 5-star. If you have issues with dentist pain, Dr. Mark’s place is your place. I have extreme anxiety about dentists and dental pain. Soft teeth, many fillings, many dentists. Dr. Mark was the first time I did not feel any pain. I don’t even know how many needles he used for Novocaine. Let me say that again: I don’t even know how many needles he used for Novocaine! He repaired a chipped front tooth (I thought I needed a veneer) and repaired a cracked molar (second crack, thought I needed at least a crown, or possibly a root canal) and the adjoining decay. He was not overtly chatty, which is fine by me as I’d rather have their true personality at work than a trumped-up glee that belies the pain ahead. He was instead professional and focused (but still friendly), using a bunch of gadgets that allowed me and my jaw to relax as the fillings were done, and he was quick and efficient with the drill. No burnt bone smell from over-drilling that happens ALL THE TIME with other dentists. Even as a new patient, filling out forms included, I was in and out in one hour. If you have issues with dentist pain, Dr. Mark’s place is your place.
★★★★★
Dr. Mark is fantastic a real perfectionist and very meticulous (showing great attention to detail; very careful and precise) which is great when it comes to your teeth! The staff is fantastic as well. They really work hard to make your visit as effortless and comfortable as possible. They also work to squeeze you in when you get an unexpected ouch or maybe just had a new baby or your hours changed at work. Best dentist I have ever been to hands down!
★★★★★
The people are kind and professional but always have a moment to ask about your day. They are very considerate to your needs, understanding, willing to answer questions, efficient and the work they do is amazing. I’m sad they don’t have weekend hours anymore but they are an amazing practice well worth the trip to see them.
★★★★★
Great doctor and staff with late hours on Monday. I agree with other reviewers that Dr. Hoang isn’t the most chatty, but I appreciated that–I hate when dentists are asking you a ton of questions while checking your teeth. He and his staff were very polite and nice to talk with before and after the exam. As for the office, it was immaculate and very modern–I was incredibly impressed (and not sure why some reviewers said it was run down and dark). They even had a TV screen in front of the dental chair with Planet Earth playing. All in all, a great experience. Thanks!

I just moved to San Francisco from Philly, but have always gone back to my parent’s home in Minnesota to have our family dentist provide my oral care. I have always enjoyed the dentist and never wanted to become one of those people who hated the dentist because of a negative experience. That being said, I was forced to visit the dentist today because my permanent, lower retainer came unglued from my lower incisor last night while flossing. In addition to re-securing my retainer, my mouth was overdue for a cleaning. I called a lot of dentists and orthodontists shopping for rates and nobody could give me a firm quote. I called Avenue of the Arts Dentistry and was helped by Jennifer on the phone. She was so kind and helpful and promised to get me a firm quote as soon as her boss arrived. The cleaning with ex rays was $100 and the repair was $50. Other places were going to charge me between $90-180 for the repair alone. Another place wouldn’t do their $125 cleaning unless I also got ex rays which would cost an additional $125. All of a sudden I was going to spend $250 plus $90-180. However, Jennifer promised everything could be done for $150. I was a little skeptical that they would try to sell me extras once I was there but I knew I could deal with the annoyance if that came up. I got to the office and Jennifer was so friendly. Isaiah, Dr. Mark’s assistant, introduced himself right away. We talked about how much we all love Philly, I filled out my forms, and they ushered me right back. Isaiah took my ex rays and Dr. Mark arrived immediately after. I could tell the two had a rhythm with their process because they didn’t even have to communicate much to repair my retainer. I could go on and on about how meticulous and gentle Dr. Mark was but I’ll let you discover that for yourself. Dr. Mark cleaned my teeth and taught me some new things about oral care that I will implement moving forward. He explained that sensitivity is normal around 25-30 due to age, and he never tried to sell me anything or try to convince me that extra things needed to be done. I left the office paying exactly what I was quoted. When I move back to Philly in a couple years, I look forward to knowing I have a dentist here that I trust!
★★★★★
I LOVE this dentist! Honestly, visits to the dentist always give me anxiety, but the kindness and professionalism at this office makes the trip so much better. Everyone is so friendly…from the beautiful front desk reception, to the dental assistants, to Dr. Mark. Dr. Mark truly cares about your oral health and explains EVERYTHING, as well as giving follow-up care. He never belittles you or makes you feel bad about any problem you may have and that is truly a relief. Give this office a shot, trust me, you won’t be dissappointed!
★★★★★
Absolutely gorgeous office and all brand new top of the line equipment. And Dr. Mark is very careful and explains everything. Some dentists work 3 patients at a time, but Dr. Mark gave me all his attention and answered every question. This dentist is up with the latest techniques- how about a 3D complete mouth X-ray? And his prices are quite reasonable (I’m retired and have to watch my costs.) I’ve got to say that going to a dentist isn’t my favorite passtime, but if you have to go, Avenue of the Arts Dental is definately worth considering. Thanks Dr. Mark, see you in 6 months!
★★★★★
Dr Hoang is amazing. He is not one of those silly chatty dentists who try to carry on a conversation with both hands and three tools in your mouth. In fact, he does very little in the way of unnecessary small talk but he is rather charming, nonetheless. He managed to do a cleaning on me without blood, tears or any of the other nightmares I associate with a dentist. Pain-free, if you can imagine. Moreover, he filled three cavities in less than 45 minutes and again, NO PAIN! He is incredibly attuned to his patients and very calm and friendly. So glad I took a chance!
★★★★★
Nice office. I am not a BIG FAN of the dentist but my visit wasn’t bad at all…. no pain. got both my wisdom tooth out on the left side. Dr. Mark was great… better than all my previous dentist. didn’t felt like a rush… clean office. everything about my visit was explained to me clearly, knew exactly what was going on with my visit. I would definitely recommend this dentist. emm….. two wisdom tooth down…. two more to go….
★★★★★
I had a great experience with this dentist. I went because I got a card in the mail advertising free exams and x-rays for new patients and the office is close to my house. When I got there the staff was friendly and efficient. The dental tech was very nice and chatted with me after doing my X-Rays while I waited a few minutes for the dentist. He did the cleaning and the exams. He was INCREDIBLY gentle with the cleaning and it felt like he did a great job. Like mentioned in another review, he cleaned my teeth a bunch of different ways, including an ultra-sonic scraper thing that made my teeth feel really clean (though it was somewhat uncomfortable while he was doing it because it sounded just like a dental drill — I was on edge that something was going to hurt the whole time — nothing did though). Then he went over my x-rays with me, showing me where a couple potential problem areas in my enamel were that we would revisit in a year, and pointing out where I had a small need for a filling. He did the filling in the same visit and it was completely painless. In the past I’ve experienced a lot of pain with novacaine needles in my gums, but he put just a tiny bit in, waited a minute, and then did the rest of the novacaine and I swear I didn’t feel a thing. He did a great job and I was there, total, under an hour. The exams and X-Rays were free with the deal and the cleaning was $90. The filling I thought was reasonable — $180. Overall this was a fantastic experience — I would recommend Dr. Mark to anyone.

I am a “Frequent” patient of Dr. Mark Hoang, DMD…allow me to start by stating, in reference to the clinic, it’s on a major artery, which is broad (Bainbridge) Street to be exact…surrounded by many eateries, walking distance to Center City. inside the clinic is very modern, not to mention, extremely clean..the aura of the clinic is always positive. jennifer (receptionist) is always upbeat & pleasing, very informative, ….then their’s the dental hygienist, who’s pretty much quiet and low keyed, not to mention a good heart… now, we have Dr. Mark….didn’t know what to think of him at the very beginning, we tend to think ALL dentists are EVIL..especially, with those PLIERS (instruments) they use for EXTRACTIONS…The more, I would visit for my appointments, the more comfortable I had become….not to mention Dr. Mark personality, which is : Conservative / Diligent / and mostly Attentive… to what he is doing. Thus far, my procedures have included: Extractions / Root Canals / & Fillings (more to come) ….. I am always “Pleased” with the Services / Professionalism I am rendered…A dental office was much needed in my immediate area, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND anyone, YOUNG & OLD….. you will NOT be disappointed..May Dr. Mark & his Staff, be BLESSED!!!! I truly hope the office is standing for years to come, as I know it will be. Mucho Gracious !! Guys Besos!!!
★★★★★
I was very impressed with Dr. Mark’s excellent service. I was a little nervous at first because it had been a while since I had been to the Dentist and I know how uncomfortable dentist visits can be. However, during the cleaning he was very gentle and careful, which almost made me think there must not be much cleaning going on but when I looked in the mirror I was amazed. My teeth look bright, healthy, and clean. Definitely recommended!
★★★★★
I don’t usually post reviews of any kind of medical office, but I felt like I had to after my visit today! I’ve been to a lot of dentists and needed a lot of work done over the years, and this time in particular I was having a really hard time getting numb. Dr. Mark was really patient, and checked multiple times and did several doses until I was able to be as comfortable as possible. I was profusely apologizing (because I was taking up a lot of time) and he was so reassuring and never encouraged me to just ‘deal with the discomfort.’ I’m really happy this is my new office!
★★★★★
First off, let me just say that this place is the best IN THE WORLD. The staff is incredible, and the service is out of this planet. Second, I USED to be terrified of the dentist! When I say terrified, I mean TERRIFIED! I hadn’t been to a dentist in 6 years! Gross I know… Imagine when I heard I had to get two root canals! Long story short, I STRONGLY RECOMMEND this place “AVENUE OF THE ARTS DENTAL” to anyone who needs a dentist. The doctor was awesome, made me feel comfortable and safe. I didn’t even feel a thing! Everyone there starting with the receptionist, who is a sweetheart, to the dental assistants are completely professionals and awesome. I can’t stress it enough if you need a dentist, this is the place!
★★★★★
I would highly reccomend Dr. Mark to everyone i know. It’s been years since i’ve seen a dentist, so i needed a-lot of work done. He took his time and expained what needed to be done and why and made me feel very comfortable. I had a root canal, extractions and fillings and will be getting braces next. The staff is also welcoming and and courtious. Overall i had a great experience and am proud to call him my dentist.
★★★★★
So happy I came to this practice! I have severe anxiety regarding dental procedures and Dr. Hoang put me totally at ease. Very comfortable office, great staff. There is even a TV with nature videos playing which is very relaxing. Dr Hoang explains everything before he does it and really takes the time to talk with you. If you suffer from any fear or anxiety about going to the dentist this is the place for you!
★★★★★
State of the art practice! I have never been this glad to have found a dental office. I have called a couple other offices in Philly, but this office provided me with the best option that I was looking for. The staff were incredibly nice, and I left the office thinking that I want to come here for the rest of my life and my children’s life.
★★★★★
I underwent a root canal procedure with Dr. Hoang and the procedure went super smoothly and pretty much painlessly. He clearly knew exactly what he was doing and I couldn’t be happier with how it went. His staff was also super friendly and helped me feel very comfortable. I definitely recommend this dental practice!
★★★★★
I was impressed! The office is clean and modern, with comfortable furniture in the waiting room. I waited for about 15 minutes before being brought back, which I don’t think is unreasonable. I went in for a routine cleaning and exam. They shot x-rays, which are entirely digital. Then Dr. Mark came in, reviewed the x-rays with me and did the cleaning himself. The cleaning was painless. All in all – the staff was friendly, everything in the office was very clean, and they succeed in making their patients comfortable.
★★★★★
I very rarely write reviews, but I felt compelled to after the excellent service I’ve received from Dr. Mark and his team. I had some restorative work done last year and it turned out wonderfully! Dr. Mark really listened and worked with me to make sure my smile looked perfect. His prices were totally reasonable and worth every penny! Recently, I had a dental emergency and I was able to get an appointment the same day. The whole staff was extremely wonderful and helpful! And Dr. Mark was awesome and told me exactly what was going on and what his next steps would be. Oh and I’ve never had an issue with pain at all during any visit, which has never happened to me before. Thank you Avenue of the Arts Dental!!
★★★★★
Sorry this review is long overdue! I had a botched crown from another dentist in Philadelphia about 2 years earlier. The crown was too large and placed incorrectly. It popped and split in half (without even eating!) like 2 days later. The dentist that headed the practice fixed it for free and apologized. Then about 2 years later the post broke and it fell out. He said I would need an implant (which I could not afford). I tried some other dentist in Philly and he said the same but gave me a higher quote. Then…..DR. MARK FIXED IT!! for like $700!!! I couldn’t believe it! He actually reinforced the post and gave me a new crown! Implants are like $3000 – $4000 (it was my front tooth). My old dentist’s assistants would gossip and flake out and forget stuff while working on me. At Ave of Arts they are soooo nice and polite and talk calmly to you! They have the nature channel playing on a tv for you to watch in the booth/room. Thank You for saving me so much money and time!
★★★★★
Great place, modern, clean, and most of all friendly staff. They have texts to confirm appointments. I was never really a fan of of going to get a dentist since I had a traumatic root canal therapy done when I was younger, but I didn’t have one bad experience with Dr. Mark’s at all. Overall, I had a great experience!!
★★★★★
I love coming here. The entire staff is friendly and helpful, and everyone seems to really enjoy their job. Jennifer, at the front desk, always has a smile on and makes me feel remembered and appreciated every time I come to the office. The dental assistants, as well, are very sweet and always make me feel comfortable and taken care of. Of course, Dr. Mark – he’s very calming and attentive, and he communicates well: he always makes sure I know exactly what’s going with my dental health, from explaining my X-Rays to me, to talking with me about my diet, to responding to any concerns of mine about future dental needs, wisdom tooth growth, etc. I especially appreciate the big screen TVs playing episodes of Planet Earth!
★★★★★
I have always been terrified of the dentist and my anxiety goes through the roof. Everyone here was so nice, patient and understanding. I soon relaxed and the Dr took great care of me.He told me what I needed to have done but never pushed me into anything. He and the staff were amazing and even though I have moved 4 hours north I still travel here when I can to get work done. (I stay with family in the area) I don’t know what I would have done without them!
★★★★★
It’s funny about reviews, everyone always wants to complain those are easy ones to find… When most people are pleased they just go about their day and never say a word. I have so many great things to say about this place where do I start?!. I just left the office and was very pleased as always- but I always forget to write my review! I was just so happy today I was not going to let another day go by without writing one. Because best believe if I was mutilated or just plain butchered?… I would have run to write my review and screamed “bloody murder” at the top of my lungs!!!! -Anyway- I get to write a happy review and scream “It doesn’t get any better then this!!!” instead. Now I must tell you how wonderful this place is! I want to shout it from the highest mountain top! First off its a major blessing that it is just around the corner- the staff is small but they pack an incredible punch! The entire team is great but Jen (reception) is a sweetheart and Dr. Mark is a painstakingly meticulous artist. That’s right I said artist! He wields that drill like a paint brush! I needed a significant amount of work done (I think 12 cavities, 4 wisdom extractions and 2 crowns) my teeth are a bit on the damaged side -beautiful- but damaged. He wanted to save every single one and keep them gorgeous! -Oh yea he only does white fillings my favorite! Man am I in heaven. He also pulled all of my wisdom teeth like a pro- no sweat. I feel great when I leave and smile all the way home and call my mom and tell her how great they did (she loves my teeth). They even work with your insurance and do whatever it takes to help you! I wasn’t sure exactly what my insurance covered and which plan I should upgrade to, Jen (the receptionist) OFFERED to have me bring in all the paperwork and figure out what was best and save me the most money she said something along the lines of “I know insurance and how it works let me look it over for you to make sure you get the best deal out of it and as much covered as possible sometimes upgrading lowers other benefits that you might need just because you upgrade that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s better…insurance companies find ways to even it all out and your insurance is good, let me just compare them to be sure”…. (Now that was extremely loosely quoted but you get the gist). I had always thought get the most expensive coverage get everything covered Jen taught me something new that day. Turns out she was right my insurance was just fine! Ah… Duh absolute no brainer this place is the best you can’t get any better than that! Another day Jen and I were talking about the off and on rain that day I said I didn’t have an umbrella but if it started raining I’d just have to run home, I laughed she didn’t instead she offered me her extra umbrella incase that were to happen- what a doll Jen always has your back. Bottom line after all that happy rambling?… They care! They care about your pockets, they care about your comfort, and most importantly…? They care about your teeth! (Probably more than some of you do!) But don’t worry Dr. Mark will make you appreciate those pearly whites and have you do what’s best for them. And in response to K.W.’s review I too was surprised Dr. mark cleaned my teeth. But hey why not have an expert do it all?! He learns every nook and cranny of your teeth I loved him cleaning them he makes sure they are perfect! Ok Ok Ok I don’t want to sound like a total crazy stalking psycho! (I know too late!) Just go visit and experience someone treating your teeth like a work of art (at least mine were lol). I finally found a home and it feels great! He fixed other dental nightmares from other dentists who either didn’t care or were just subpar. Cant thank him enough for that. Thanks Dr. Mark!
★★★★★
I am super impressed by Dr. Mark and his staff. For one, the interior of the office and patient rooms is stellar. It’s clean, modern, beautiful. Everyone was very professional and courteous, greeted me warmly (despite the fact that I ran considerably late, because the people at the parking garage took out the wrong car!), and they saw me shortly after I filled out all the paperwork. I went in for a routine cleaning, exam and x-rays. Dr. Mark did an exceptional job cleaning my teeth, and since I keep my teeth very very clean on a regular basis, really says something. I’ve been to dentists to have a regular teeth cleaning and have walked out knowing I could have done a better job, despite the fact I am not a professional and don’t have access to the same equipment. Not so here. I was also impressed by the fact that Dr. Mark advised me to simply have a filling in my upper wisdom tooth, as opposed to surgically extracting my wisdom teeth. Little known fact but dentists (and doctors…and veterinarians) get kickbacks from referrals…he could have made a lot more money by referring me to an oral surgeon whom he has an “association” with, but he did the honest and moral thing and said that I really didn’t need it…just gave me some advice on how to better clean and access my wisdom teeth as well as saying I just needed a simple filling. He saved me a whole lot of time, money and future issues. He’s a rare breed. I think most dentists and doctors learn to gouge you the way car mechanics do. I’ve been to several dentists and oral surgeons over the years who advised the wisdom tooth extraction, but at one point it would have been complicated and very costly. I’m honestly surprised anyone gave him anything less than 5 stars. Dr. Mark and his office staff deserve 10!

My wife and I had a Groupon here and used it today. Not having dental insurance, this seemed like the cheapest way to get a cleaning, x-rays, etc. Our biggest concern with using the Groupon was that they’d try to sell us extras, like whitening treatment, etc. Nothing of the sort happened. We got some advice on flossing more (no big surprise there), and were encouraged to make another appointment 6 months later. Would highly recommend! PS I won the bet with my wife over whose teeth the dentist would compliment more 🙂
★★★★★
I would highly recommend Dr. Mark and Avenue of the Arts Dental office! Dr. Mark is a great dentist, and his office staff is top notch as well. The office is always clean & well kept, and the practice uses all new technology. Also the scheduling is done very well so I’ve never waited for more than 5 minutes to see the doctor!
★★★★★
Dr. Mark has done an incredible job on my teeth. It’s virtually pain free. I got a root canal, crown, and 3 tooth extracted thus far. And I’m getting my braces next. He’s very detail and thorough during the process. He constantly checked with me whether it hurts or not. He explained to me what’s he gonna do and showed me the after through the computer x ray. He and his entire staffs are extremely friendly. For years, I’ve had very bad teeth and I was never comfortable enough to go see a dentist. But I totally feel comfortable here. Dr. Mark’s office is also very clean and relaxing. Thank you so much for giving a smile that I’ve always wanted to have. I’d highly recommend him to all of my family and friends.
