My experience with Dr. Akhavan has been nothing but positive. She takes great strides to be upfront and honest about my teeth, gums, and related areas. Her staff (Jocelyn & Margherita) is also incredibly patient & professional making the visit to the dentist less dreadful. I used to travel out of state for my dental appointments but I truly feel that I have found a great local dentist.

It is with great pleasure that I write this review for Dr. Azadeh Akhavan. She is the person solely responsible for me smiling confidently without using my hands to cover my teeth. I came to Dr. Akhavan because I had some problems with the results of my previous dentist’s work. After enduring 8 implants and dozen crowns, nothing was feeling or looking right. Dr. Akhavan did a thorough examination and found major problems such as residues of cements still under my gums, my bite was completely off, inferior molds and materials that were used also aesthetically lots to be corrected and there were still few issues that were causing traps for bacteria. It took about a year to correct everything, but throughout these sessions she was always helpful, always on time, very courteous, knowledgeable, great work ethics with a gentle touch and amazingly patient with all my questions. In few occasions, she also conducted extra research and consultations with other dentists and specialists to come up with best solution for me which it felt very assuring. For example, after my implants I had developed a great pain in my left jaw, although not her specialty, but Dr. Akhavan consulted with few specialists and came up with solutions that has worked and saved me from that awful pain that I had for more than 2 years. To me it is a matter of night and day how my teeth looked and felt before and after visiting Dr. Akhavan. I have recommended her to my colleagues at the office and everyone who has visited her feels and share my sentiments. I must also thank her very friendly and understanding staff. They went beyond their way to assist dealing and explaining my case to the insurance company.

Doctor Akhavan is a very professional and kind person. She was always very explicit with me about the procedure she is about to take, never pushed to sell and always told me about the different options I had if any. She also often does research about what is new out there and updates her recommendations and equipement to be current. I would definitely recommend her.

It was such pleasing experience going to Dr. Akhavan’s office. From checking-in and all the way to the end. I’m the typical type to get nervous at the dentist, however that was not the case here. More importantly, Dr. Akhavan was very helpful and took the time to explain everything to me. The assistant was also nice and caring throughout! Definitely recommend.

Have been a patient of Dr. Akhavan for two years. Her professional approach and that of her staff, Valerie and Jakima is of the highest quality. Recently completed an Invisalign regimen and the visits were on-time, efficient, and organized. They got me through the entire process in a more than timely fashion and the results are incredible. Would not hesitate to recommend Dr. Akhavan, Valerie, and Jakima for all your dental needs.

visited many dentists in my lifetime, but Dr. Akhavan was the most patient and knowledgeable of them all. The office and staff are wonderful and Dr. Akhavan took her time to explain everything i need to know about my teeth, jaw, tongue etc. I did not even feel that I was getting my teeth cleaned because she is very gentle and she definitely has magic hands. She takes her work very seriously and does not push anything on you that you do not need. Prior to Dr. Akhavan I was told that I have a few cavities which turned out to be false. I totally trust her judgement and she cares about what is best for the patient and is very honest. Most importantly I left really feeling that my teeth and mouth are healthy. This is the last dentist I will ever see! Thank you doc!

I had a crown pop off soon after moving to New York recently. I called a different dental clinic at first and just got a funny feeling after getting the run around about fees. I decided to cancel my appointment there and keep looking, and I was so lucky that I did! Margherita helped me get an appointment that fit into my work schedule and also explained how much it would cost if my insurance wouldn’t cover it but also that she thought she could get that part worked out.Dr. Akhavan went through all of my current & past X-rays with me to explain why I should really wear my night guard (the grinding effects show up in the X-rays at the roots of your teeth!!) and also helped adjust it so that it would be more comfortable (something my prior dentist didn’t offer to do…) She also re-cemented my crown and made sure it was seated correctly. A few weeks later, I managed to pop off a different crown (!!), and Margherita helped me get another appointment. I decided to get my biannual cleaning done at the same time, and Dr. Akhavan did a really careful exam to make sure that everything else looked okay. We all had a good laugh over my crown-loss tendencies, and I promised not to eat any more jelly beans. I really like how their office uses different communication methods (like Margherita is totally cool about helping schedule appointments & answering questions via email, which helps because I work in an open-plan office so calls are hard to take.) I also think it’s neat that I get so much time with the dentist herself – what a luxury!
