Definitely worth trying this practice if you are looking for convenience, professionalism , thoroughness, detail oriented dentistry. My late husband and I owned 3 dental practices over 15 years ago. The best experience with a Dentist of my life. The natural fear of visiting a dentist were quickly put to rest as I met the Doctor and his staff. he could articulate with specificity what I was going to go through, what he was going to do and for what reason and his determination. The office is impeccable with proper cleaning and sanitation evident everywhere. The nurse actually turned on the water for me so I can wash my hands. All the staff including the doctor were very pleasant and welcoming and patiently guiding me through x-rays and preparing for the doctor. I actually have a follow up visit in a couple of weeks and I can’t wait.

Had a dental crisis that my previous dentist tried to cover up even after 4 post-op visits. I had been unable to sleep well or function for 3 weeks because of the pain from a procedure. Dr. Bauer was kind enough to see me as an emergency today and got rid of all the pain, treated me, and prescribed a future plan based on medical necessity. Very methodical, conscientious, and friendly care. Office had new equipment. Staff was super nice.

I never review anything simply because I believe the entire culture behind Yelp is super pretentious and full of whiney people, however upon seeing this office has such a mediocre score, I had to give my say. Let me just start off by saying this office is 100% LGBTQ-friendly. I am not kidding. I have been seeing Dr. Bauer for 2 years now. I began transitioning male-to-female a year after I began seeing him. He never once seemed confused or uncomfortable. In fact, he always asked me how my transition was going. Not with ignorance or even curiosity, but genuine sincerity and kindness. Like he actually cared to know of my progress and how much happier I am. I have never once felt awkward in that office. Dr. Bauer does not “upsell” any pitches to me, and I am never tackled with any bills. He makes his prices pretty clear, and if anything, he does nothing less than actually work with my insurance and code things so that I do not have a copay. This man genuinely seems to care for his patients and their oral health. You do not see this often, ESPECIALLY if you are LGBTQ. Dr. Bauer was my first dentist in the city, and he will be my children’s first dentist as well.

Loved this place. The staff was personal, friendly, informative and covered all the parts of a dental exam. They took the time to show me my x-rays and explain what they saw. They also provided me a detailed breakout of the costs would be for the fillings I needed in a follow-up apt. with insurance coverage. I also didn’t have to wait at all. And they had a dentist chair that gave you a massage. I would highly recommend this place to anyone.

Didn’t know it was possible to leave a dentist appointment more relaxed than when I walked in? People would probably be hard pressed to find a dental office that puts you that at ease. I’ve been more used to being subjected to the equivalent of medieval torture over the years. The paperwork process was also really easy thanks to ZocDoc. I guess the location could be a bit closer to the 4/5/6, but not that bad of a walk.

I had a crises. On a Saturday evening a porcelain cap covering one of my front teeth disintegrated – leaving me looking like Dracula. Monday was a national holiday. I rang the emergency line first thing Sunday morning. Within an hour my call was returned from Lana, the office manager. Dr.Bauer was away on vacation but the doctor covering would see me on Monday. I had an amazing experience today. I fell and fractured my tooth and needed a dentist fast. I live close by so I walked in for an appointment right after I called. Both Dr. Bauer and his assistant were extremely nice and friendly. I don’t know if I was delirious from the pain but I felt really comfortable sharing my thoughts with them. I got the procedure done an hour later and as a person who values punctuality, Dr. Bauer’s estimation on time length was very accurate. The location is also one of the best/coolest dentist offices that I’ve ever been to. There are iPads right by the chairs and you’re free to use them.

I was immediately put at ease by the dentist, foretold what would be done, and asked to relax and enter a state of mindfulness in a serene and aesthetically pleasing cubicle. He introduced me to his hygienist and then probed my teeth for defects. This was followed by the biannual cleaning which she meticulously performed with sure hands that gently worked over my gum lines as well as between teeth. Naturally, all precautions during this pandemic were in place and his staff was fully vaccinated. Earlier I had harbored misgivings about the visit but looking back now it was well worth it and unlike one I had experienced in some time. I will return in six months!

I know Dr. Bauer for over a decade and today I trusted him to extract my tooth #13. (The tooth has 3 roots) It was a relatively painless procedure making a way for an implant. He is expensive and accept only top top tier insurance, but you get what you pay for. Few hours after the procedure I got a call asking how was I feeing after tooth extraction. Quite impressive to me!!!

My partner and I have been seeing Dr Bauer for a few years now. He is kind gentle, caring and contentious. His office and staff are very professional and has one of the best hygienists in all of NYC. He gives me, sells me, pitches fluoride to me. I get it every time. You are going to the dentist to have healthy teeth. It is proven that fluoride, besides brushing, is one of the best things you can do to your teeth. He’s a dentist offering to sell you preventive treatment. So he gets called a thief for that??? Geez its not like he’s pushing opioids or a membership??!! If you don’t like the dentist experience but need to go anyway, of course you’ll be mad at the Dr. We are all human so mistakes happen. But to berate him for selling fluoride and call him misogynistic is appalling. Dr Bauer and his team are good for your teeth and good for you.

Cold winters are a great time to give back to others who help me by their reviews, I’m taking time to review Dr. Bauer so others may benefit. I have been seeing Dr. Bauer since just after he took over from the previous Dentist at the same location. Please bear with me because I’m covering many years of how great my experience has been with Dr. Bauer. As I’ve grown older, my teeth got worse and worse, requiring a substantial amount of work. I decided to try this new neighborhood Dentist, first, to have an assessment (sort of a meet & greet). After having a good vibe, I began with some smaller fixes to get a feeling of his demeanor and expertise. Every visit was very relaxing. Dr. Bauer actually takes precious time to explain every step of the way during any procedure to provide an understanding as to what he’s doing. My childhood Dentist typically took time out to explain only his bill to my Mother. I’ve had two other dentists as I moved to other areas and they never really took time to say much. While performing any procedure, small or large, Dr Bauer constantly inquires if I am feeling discomfort, which in itself, is very comforting. It shows care for the patient as he himself can’t feel one’s pain at any given moment. Upon designating Dr. Bauer as my ‘go to’ Dentist, I went further into the already established long term plan to install 10 implants over the course of time. Does one experience some discomfort during an implant procedure, yes, but anything you do involving major work of this kind will put you a little bit out of the normal healthy state of mind. Initially, I was dreading the pain of my first implant appointment. To my amazement, the process went so smoothly. As I left the chair for the office, Dr Bauer handed me some extra gauze and a prescription for 800 mg of Ibuprofen instead of the typical Oxycodone I was used too getting from others for major work performed. I do not like feeling discomfort or pain, so I questioned the prescription, but he assured me it would be fine. I filled the prescription and surprisingly only took the dosage twice because I really didn’t feel any pain. The cutting/drilling for 3 implants in a row was performed so well, there was no need to take any more Ibuprofen the next day. Each of the followups were the same. Other than the healing process, this was much ado about nothing. Dr Bauer made it a walk in the park! Now, in reference to wanting to write a review, to my dismay, I came across Yelp and became distressed after reading the typical negativity of some Yelp reviewers regarding Dr. Bauer, but it just seems to be par for the course with many Yelpsters for some reason. Therefore, I felt this place if any was where I’d share. When you have individuals like previous reviewers stating “…..every dentist I have seen in the last three years since has instantly noticed how bad that filling is.” tells me this is a Dentist hopper, because they go from one to another to another and are never satisfied no matter who it is. In other statements, “Everyone seems to agree that Dr. Bauer is a salesman.’ Maybe because he cares to inform you and urge you to do something so you can go to your grave with your original teeth and not have to get 10 implants like I had to. I grew up my first 5 years in Canada on Well water without the fluoride to provide added protection. No wonder I wound up with the implants. I never felt anything was an upsell, and I too, used to be in Sales. When Dr. Bauer explains the principles of ’cause and effect’ in reference to one’s teeth or oral hygiene, he addresses the pro-active measures one should exercise. After this, you have two choices, you either heed his warnings and professionalism or you look into your wallet and tell him I don’t want to spend money to take care of my teeth. Plain and simple. Don’t blame the Dentist for the latter! Then there’s “Based on my experience at least, he is also a bad dentist.” One knows a bad dentist in the 1st or 2nd visit. It was obvious this individual had seen Dr. Bauer many times before he just tired of him and needed to hop to the next one, and the next one and the next….. Sounds more like a ‘bad client/patient’. Don’t cut yourself short reading unjust negativity. A ‘bad dentist’ is a far cry from the likes of ‘My outstanding Dentist – Dr. Bauer’! Maybe I’ll bump into one of you during my next routine visit. The best dentist I have been to in 6 years. I had a problematic crown and Dr. Bauer replaced it in only 2 hours with the latest technology in their practice; I was able to eat dinner with that tooth the same night (usually you wait for your crown for 2 weeks if your dentist does not have the technology). I’m in the TV business and was frantic after I discovered I had cracked my tooth late on a Friday! I was lucky enough to do a little research and find Dr. Bauer – who not only saw me after hours to help me out before the weekend – in addition his private upscale office was convenient, had a great atmosphere, and I received excellent personalized service. To top that off, I learned that Dr. Bauer has state-of-the-art equipment and I would NOT need a temporary crown put in and to book a second appointment for my final replacement and more needles!! As you can imagine, to my EXTREME delight, I found out Dr. Bauer is one of those few dentists licensed and approved to have the actual machine in his office that makes your fitted crown right there for you. Let’s just say, I really lucked out discovering this place and now am a big fan and returning costumer. Thanks, Dr. Bauer!!
