My grandson has a mild intellectual disability as well as adjustment disorder with disturbance in emotion and in the past has had a difficult time (putting it mildly) with any type of medical/dental treatment.  I put off taking him to the dentist for 3-1/2 years because the last time he went was so terribly traumatic for him and the thought of putting him through another experience like that was awful. But I finally decided it was time to get his dental health in order so I made an appoappointment with Brevard Pediatric Dental Associates. ( his previous visits were with a dentist in Delaware) I was scared for him and he was frightfrightened so say the least.  We went in and were called back with Carol. She was amazing! She took the time to talk to Cameron for an hour developing a rapport and explaining everything to him on his level until he was comfortable and somewhat at ease.  She then took him to meet Kandy who also was amazing!  She as well took the  time to talk to him about things he is interested in and talked to him about x-rays and teeth cleaning until he was comfortable and then introduced him to Dr. Milo.  Again, Amazing!!.  In the end we were there for 2-1/2 hours but when he was done getting x-rays, his teeth cleaned and learning about dental health he left with a smile on his face,  no cavities,  and had made 3 new friends who he will willing and unafraid visit again in 6 months!  This is huge for Cameron.  I highly recommend this practice to anyone with young children whether they have special needs or not.  These folks are the best!
