My mom has been going to Dr. Lum for years and always raved about him and how I should go see him.  I, on the other hand, had not seen a dentist in over ten years.  Dentists just freak me out. Well, it finally caught up with me because my face was swollen like a grapefruit and it was on fire. If I could I would have knocked the tooth out of my mouth just like Tom Hanks did in Cast Away.   Dr. Lum treated me well and didn’t make me feel bad at all for waiting so long. He was very friendly and professional.  More importantly he got me out of pain.  I ended up needing the dreaded root canal.  But, that went smoothly and during the whole process he was always checking up on me to see if I was doing okay.  Afterwards, I got a white cap over the tooth.  I now have a check up coming up.  I hope I don’t have anymore to do, but if I do, then I’m glad I have Dr. Lum to do it because I trust him.   I’m very happy with Dr. Lum because he seems to genuinely care and he doesn’t freak me out.

I’ve had many dentists throughout my life and Dr. Lum is by far the best! I’ve been going to him for about 5 years now and he always does a thorough job at cleaning my teeth. Not only is he very detailed in his cleanings and dental procedures, he’s also very personable which is a great quality to have with all your patients. Dr Lum has been my dentist for several years now and I am very happy with his services. Dr Lum is very meticulous, friendly, professional, efficient and proactive. Over the years he’s done a variety of services on me, and all of them worked out flawlessly. In the beginning, he even fixed a tooth that my previous dentist screwed up and more or less gave up on. Dr Lum restored it in no time and since then I have no problem with that tooth. I couldn’t believe it. That experience taught me the difference between a good and a bad dentist. Dr. Lum has been taking care of my teeth since Dr. Stromfeld retired. Recently I chipped two different teeth in the space of about 3 weeks. Dr. Lum quickly fit me in his schedule and painlessly repaired both teeth. They look better than they did before I chipped them! Dr. Robert Lum did the checkup and the cleanup, not someone under him, I appreciated it. The office is very modern, clean and not open which I like. I hate seeing other people and being looked at by other during treatment. They have small areas for each patient. The only negative was that it took 40 minutes to get started but otherwise, it was good. I would recommend and will come back. Also, I didn’t feel any pressure on anything like few other dentist where they try to charge you for many additional treatments.

I was just checking out some restaurants and was curious to see what the reviews were for my dentist.  I was surprised to see that there weren’t any.  So cool, I get to be the first.   I usually don’t do reviews, but he deserves my time for a good review, and this review is long overdue.  I’ve been seeing Dr. Lum for a few years, and he his by far the best dentist that I have seen.   My very first visit was an emergency,  I was having a toothache, and they got me in the very same day I called and treated me.   I walked out feeling good.  Dr.  Lum is friendly, patient, and professional.  But, most of all, I trust Dr. Lum.  I’ve had a lot of dental work in the past and some bad experiences at other offices.  This office is the place to be if you want someone that cares and who does a great job.

I’ve had private and franchise type dentists in the past for quite some time. Most were good and some were quite lackluster and even disappointing – making you feel like a number on a conveyor belt. Dr Lum’s office takes dental care to a whole new level. I actually felt like I was the only patient they had – from scheduling, to reminders, to – most importantly – the care I received in the chair. Dr Lum takes considerable time explaining everything that’s going on and all the options and takes care to make sure you’re comfortable asking obvious questions. A better bedside manner I have not seen. I switched from my franchise about a year ago and had a fine cleaning and check up but recently went in for a sore tooth that needed a crown. From the big screen relaxing waterfall and sunset visuals on the wall, to the attention to detail making sure that my bite was exact (just amazing), that my pain was controlled (there was none BTW), to the small touches during spit/rinse – this was a five-star experience all around. The offices are immaculate welcoming and modern as is the equipment. Mary Ann is an angel at the front desk and did her best to accommodate my travel schedule so i wouldn’t have to be in pain for weeks. I can’t say enough about this office and this is coming from someone who likes to write restaurant reviews but never even thought of writing about my dentist – ever. Kudos, bravo and hats off!!

What do you do when when your trusted long-time dentist (and personal friend) has decided to retire? Fortunately, my old dentist was able to recommend Dr. Robert Lum, someone who would continue the same high standards and positive experiences. He and his staff are friendly, accommodating, professional and highly competent. A few years ago I moved from the San Jose area to Sonoma County in the North Bay, but I continue to drive to San Jose to see Dr. Lum for dental work. It is worth the two-hundred mile round trip. In the fall of 2015 I had a friend who was suffering from multiple dental problems. He had been raised in a remote rural area of Mexico where basic services are so limited that he had never seen a dentist. Dr. Lum was the best possible choice to be his first dentist. He was kind and patient as he explained each step of each procedure. Dr. Robert Lum is an excellent dentist. Many of us rely on him for our continued dental health and friendly smiles. He is down-to-earth and easy to talk to. I strongly recommend Dr Robert Lum.

My wife and I and my mother and father have been going to Dr. Lum since the time he opened an office in San Jose. They are fantastic! Knowledgeable, Friendly, Super Clean office and facility. We have never had a mistake with our Insurance provider using his office, so they obviously know how to manage the administrative part as well. I trust this practice because my former dentist (family friend) was willing to move his patients to Dr. Lum … and my former dentist was incredibly and extremely particular about his dentistry and his patients so he would not forward his patients here unless he really trusted and saw his work first hand.
