So it is not often you go to the dentist to spend an 1 1/2 hours in the chair to get a crown removed/replaced and never feel apprehensive or nervous. Dr. Parikh and staff do everything possible to make it a pleasant experience and I highly recommend them! The office is state fo the art and the staff is great. I have never enjoyed a dental visit as much as I did today. Dr. Parikh’s staff was so accommodating and friendly, and she was incredibly nice as well. I recently took my 3.5 year old daughter to see Dr. Parikh. This was her first dentist appointment, and I knew it needed to be a positive one if she was going to have a good feeling about future dentist appointments! My daughter loved it! Dr. Parikh and her staff made Zayne feel so comfortable letting her touch the tools and feel the electric brush on her finger. They were great! The office is clean and inviting. I would recommend this office for children and adults! Awesome!

I’ve been going to Dr. Parikh and her staff for almost 7 years, after the last dentist I went to kept messing up on a crown and not really listening to why it felt ill fitting and just told me I’d get used to it (I didn’t after a year) and I felt they were pushing unnecessary procedures at me. Dr. Parikh listened and fixed it and I’ve followed her advice ever since. I trust her knowledge and she’s always on top of the latest technology. Her staff is super friendly and on top of things. I’ve recommended her to several friends and they all have loved her. I send my kids to her as well. They’ve been very cautious with COVID precautions and making sure everyone is safe.

The staff at Bristles were super friendly and accommodating! I haven’t been to the dentist in a long time, and never got the “dentist lecture”. Taking all of those x-rays and dental photos are never fun, but I totally appreciated the dental assistant’s honesty when she prepared me with a “this is going to hurt” when I had to awkwardly hold one of those weird plastic things in my mouth during the photoshoot. Much better than “you’re going to feel a pinch”, which we all know is a lie! I felt comfortable and heard when I talked about my concerns, and was relieved at how much they took into consideration for my anxiety and other needs when scheduling to come back for other dental work.

My 3 children (11-13-15 yrs) had our first appointment today. I was amazed at how thorough the visit was. The office is very quiet and organized and the staff is very friendly. Dr. Parikh met with me to get basic background info while they started on my children. We all had a great experience and will definitely be back. Prices are affordable if you don’t have insurance and there are payment plan options available. We haven’t been in over 5 years but I’m sure more frequent visits are in our future!

My 8 year old son had scary/bad experiences at two separate dentists for dental work. He didn’t feel acknowledged as a person because his fears weren’t validated by whoever did work on him. I am so sad he was terrified and I couldn’t help him feel safe TWICE. Actually I’m still processing those feelings of helplessness and anger as a mother to a pediatric patient who couldn’t advocate for his fear and discomfort once mom wasn’t around. My son cried in my arms before his appointment at Bristles that day. It stirred up my own fear for his hurt feelings too. At the end of our visit with Dr. Shirley, my boys (brother came too) were so comfortable and at ease that they asked questions to Dr. Parikh directly, and walked around (to my dismay) the room and hallway with excitement and curiosity. I was explained in ways I could understand, the status and action plan recommend of my boys teeth. Even more wonderful, I was empowered to maintain the oral hygiene of my kiddos in all sorts of ways. No other dentist has taken the time to explain this before! The cherry on top of all of this was my 8 year old asked if that was his new dentist. I said yes, and he said, “YESSSS!” Here’s his artwork about it!

Visiting the Bristles Dentistry is always a comforting experience. The staff is very pleasant to work with and very courteous. There is a coffee bar and fridge with water to refresh yourself. The waiting area is very calm and my family loved the fact that there was a play area for our kids to play. I recently took my son for his routine check-up and found out that he has enamel hypoplasia on one of his adult molar. Well this molar ended up having a fairly large cavity despite having good dental hygiene. Dr. Parikh worked her magic and did an amazing job fixing his cavity with an inlay. Procedure took less then an hour and my baby came home super happy with a healthy and good looking tooth.

I am probably one of the hardest individuals to please, ever! I usually do all my research and when not happy. I usually exercise all rights to the fullest or rebuttal Not to mention I’m the most frugal individual I know. I went in skeptical with a mentality, that I would dislike the services. That the Dr. was just another dentist that I would probably never visit again. Contrary ! I was so impressed with Dr Shirley, she has the best bed manners I have ever experienced. She was very thorough and took the time to explained everything in details and what she recommended I needed. I knew upfront my procedure was cosmetic and was going to cost me a little fortune about 3000 for Vaneers. I hesitated because of the procedure itself, but we discussed my options and ultimately opted for the something less invasive. The procedure was done in one day and cost me a fraction of the initial quote. I was so please with my new smile which will last me a good 10 years to come… Dr Shirley and her staff are polite, sociable very professional and experts at what they do. I am pleased with the entire visits and services. I literally got my new two front teeth for Christmas! Since then I have referred my Husband, Daughter and Friends! Best dentist office I’ve ever been to! I’ve always had weak teeth so I’m no stranger to dental work, nevertheless, my anxiety about having any work done is still off the charts. We saw Dr. Parikh today for an issue with my son’s teeth (7 year old). I was concerned about fairly severe yellowing of two teeth but also concerned with Covid and my son’s temperament for the appointment. He hates the dentist and often can’t even make it through the needed x-rays. Tears and screams are common. Today was different. She addressed my son’s issue which was such a relief for me but what was more amazing was that my son was totally at ease during the entire appointment. No tears at all. Dr. Parikh was able to address the dental issue, take X-rays and get his teeth cleaned. I think her overall care and calmness put him at ease. The office is extremely clean and all the staff took great care to address any Covid concerns. We had a great experience!

Our entire family goes to Bristles Density and we love it. The staff in the front are always accommodating and kind. They offer coffee, flat water and flavored water. The waiting area looks like it’s out of a magazine with a small table and chair for a young child. The dental hygienist, Alma, is so gentle and communicates the process. Dr. Shirley Parikh was born and raised in Houston, Texas and is The University of Houston alumna. She loves the Bayou City and made Houston her forever home after graduating from Texas A&M Health Science Center, Baylor College of Dentistry in 2008. Dr. Parikh has been in practice for more than a decade and settled in the Rice Military neighborhood in 2012. She fell in love with dentistry as a career when she realized that it would fulfill all of her talents and passions. Science and an eye for design were key. You really need an eye for esthetics if you’re going into smile design. She is a Fellow in the Academy of General Dentistry and on her way to earning Mastership later this year. This means that she has taken thousands of hours over the required continuing education requirements and passed a stringent exam. She stays on the cutting edge in dentistry and whole body health. She is currently studying with Clinical Mastery Series to master her skills in smile design and pain management. She lives in the lovely Oak Forest neighborhood just a few miles from the practice. She believes in whole body health including nutrition, mental, emotional and spiritual well being. She is also a fan of podcasts, yoga and her Peloton. If she’s not talking “teeth”, on a treadmill or on her bike then she must be on a plane headed somewhere. She believes in family travel and their last trips include Vail, Banff National Park, Vancouver, Seattle and Disney World. Although, the family has halted travel since the Covid-19 Pandemic began. They are enjoying everything that quarantine has to offer. She took up baking and cooking during the pandemic and is enjoying her new hobby.
