Dr. Duchan will bend over backwards to make you happy and make you feel comfortable. His office is retro, his machines are old but well kept and he does everything himself. Remember that dental hygienist who tried to do your filling at the last chain you went to? No dental hygienist here, Dr. Duchane cleans your teeth, processes your insurance and answers the phone himself. I get more than my money’s worth at his office.

All I can say is wow, what a great dentist. You cannot find another dentist like Dr. Duchan in this entire area! I am a long time patient and will not go anywhere else for my teeth. Dr. Duchan even seen me on Sunday for a dental emergency. Who does that? He really cares for his patients and does not charge for services you do not need. Old school dentist with experience, common sense and excellent patient care. I referred my husband and daughter here and they both love him. Can’t say enough good things about Dr. Duchan. 🙂 10 stars

Dr Duchan is vigilant about his continuing education, so don’t let his charmingly retro office fool you. He stays up on the current dental practices and suggests treatments that are conservative and budget sensitive. You’ll never feel like you’re being cheated or taken advantage of. He is friendly and always remembers the details of my family life, which feels special too. Excellent dentist.

I wrote a 4-star review for Dr. Duchan a couple of years ago, based on cleanings (and I reserve 5-star ratings for outstanding businesses). Now I have to up it to five stars. I lost a huge filling that comprised much of a molar, and was fearing root canal, crown, etc. In a one hour appointment, without Novocaine, Dr Duchan crafted a new resin filling that is so much better looking. He spent a lot of time ensuring that it was just right. And the cost, after insurance, is a pittance. He’s very personable, and I much prefer his plain office to that of my previous dentist with high falutin’ technology. Dr. Duchan’s philosophy is to preserve natural tooth whenever possible. I like that.

Dr. Duchan is amazing. My teeth feel so good after my cleaning, and they instantly looked 5x more white. He was very good at explaining exactly what he was looking for as he was examining my teeth, which was great because I’ve never had a dentist do that before, I literally can’t recommend him enough!

Dr. Duchan was the first dentist that I have seen in over two years. The previous one told me that I needed a root canal, but I never had the work done because of the cost. I since moved and needed a new dentist and found Dr. Duchan here on Yelp. I read the reviews and felt that he would be a great fit for me since I was a little nervous. I told him about the root canal that was supposed to be done, and he did my cleaning and x-rays and said he would “look over everything to see what needed to be done.” After reviewing my x-rays, he told me that I would probably only need a filling, but he wasn’t sure until he got in there. I came back for the follow-up appointment and he ended up only needing to fill the cavity and it cost me a $25 co-pay! A far cry from the $1000+ I was ultimately expecting. I’m a college student and try to save as much as possible. Everything was great and when I move back home about three hours away, I might come see him still because of how great and easy to work with he was. A great dentist and a great person, I look forward to going to the dentist now and I have never been able to say that.

Dr. Duchan has been my family’s dentist for 15 plus years, and in that time I have never met a smarter and more honest professional.  The quality of his work is consistently excellent, and he is always thoughtful and kind.  If you want a dentist who you can always count on to put your interests before his own, Bruce Duchan DDS is the one!

Moved to the area in October and wanted a dentist that was closer. Went today for the first visit, no wait and he said he does that so people enjoy coming to their appointment. So nice when most doctors cram their schedules to get more money. He did the booking of the appt, insurance phone call to verify coverage, and cleaning. Let my 2 year old sit on my lap the whole time and explained everything to him. He let him play with instruments and water and gave him a toy at the end. My son will be so excited now to see the dentist in the fall for the first time.

Bruce Duchan is awesome – I just went there for the first time today and he is honestly the best dentist I have ever been to. Most dentists today (in my experience) are crooks just looking to get rich – but Dr. Duchan was super cool, and he took his time with me. I am so excited that after searching for a dentist, I finally found one!! Bonus: The office has on-site parking, so no meters!!

I met Dr. Duchan at a health club, and decided to make the switch from our previous dentist to his office. First of all, I love the vintage decor. I don’t go to a dentist because of fancy flat screens which might compensate for in-room performance, I go because I’m confident in their ability to take care of my oral health needs and help me prevent further dental work. Dr. Duchan treats every patient with an immense amount of hospitality and provides clear help and healthful steps to avoid cavities and other such dental issues. Like Kelly A. said, Dr. Duchan takes his time, from the exam, to exploring and explaining payment options. I’ve never felt more comfortable or cared for than when at 911 S. Washington to visit Dr. Duchan. The on-site parking is truly ideal, especially in downtown Royal Oak, where parking is cheap but requires change (which I never have!).

I have been going to Dr. Duchan now for about 4 years. I have absolutely no complaints! I am thoroughly impressed that he is able to do everything all by himself (cleanings, x-rays, scheduling appointments, etc..). When I call to schedule an appointment he knows exactly who I am and knows my history off the top of his head. He is very personable and I actually look forward to my appointments! If you are looking for someone who truly cares about your well being and will always give you an honest opinion, he is the dentist for you!

Dr. Duchan is a great dentist and wonderful person. He is honest, friendly and makes you feel comfortable. He runs the no frills practice and always makes time if an emergency comes about. We travel from the other side of town and I have family who live out of state who always see him when they’re home.  I have recommended him to anyone who needs a dentist and will continue to do so.

I have been a patient of Dr. Duchan’s for a number of years. I used to be afraid of the dentist but I can honestly say that Dr. Duchan is one of the most knowledgeable, most patient dentists I have ever met. He is a one man show, so refreshing where dental offices have made me feel like a number and not a person. I never have to wait, he schedules one person at a time and gives each person the time and attention needed. I value his expertise and enjoy my time at the dentist now. One of a kind, they don’t make dentists like this any more and I mean that. Highly recommend

Dr. Duchan has been my dentist for almost 20 years, and it is my pleasure to leave this review about the care he has provided me, my husband, and our two children over the years. First, Dr. Duchan is a consummate professional. He is thorough, but does not pad his treatment with unnecessary and expensive procedures. While you are in the chair, he will patiently explain each step in advance, and make sure you are informed and comfortable before he proceeds. He does a great job at putting his patients, from toddlers to seniors, at ease, and is very gentle. Both of our children are completely at ease at their cleanings, and he had no problem modifying his approach to accommodate my daughter’s anxiety or my son’s special needs. On the rare occasion we have had dental emergencies, he has gone WAY out of his way to see us on extremely short notice. I cannot recommend Dr. Duchan too much. Do yourself a favor and make an appointment with him today!

Love Dr. Duchan, I found my forever dentist. Couldn’t ask for a nicer person or a more knowledgeable dentist. Old fashioned dentistry in a good way, the kind of dentist that you always knew existed somewhere….well, he does! Hometown dentist, warm welcoming office, one man show and very personable and caring. Goes the extra mile for each patient. Absolute perfection. Dr. Duchan is in the process of making me a Maryland bridge, which no other dentist even suggested, but is exactly what I wanted. Not only that but he is helping me complete this dental work before I need to leave the country. I so appreciate the time, attention and effort. My teeth look better than they have in years. Excellent bonding, excellent everything. If there were more stars than 5, I would give more. Thank you Dr. Duchan, I not only feel like I have found my new dentist, but my new friend. 🙂

Dr. Duchan has been our family dentist for years.  I’ve ignored dental insurance that would have been cheaper if he wasn’t in their network.  He has come in outside office hours to take care of emergency care.  He’s skilled and kind – he’s even dug up samples from his would-be suppliers when I or my kids hated a toothpaste flavor he was using!  I literally can’t recommend him enough.

Dr. Duchan is not just a dentist, hes a master at the art of dentistry. In a world where denitstry has been overtaken by overly ambitious and often greedy dentist who have a agenda to upsell and build up the biggest most cutting edge practice with as many dentists as possible Dr. Duchan stands out as a prime example of what the experience of going to the dentist should be. You wont find any glitz or glamour just the nicest man you ever met with a passion for what he does. Hes calm, gentle and a master of what he does. Dr. Duchan has done a number of filling for me that other dentists refused to even attempt and they all lasted me for years after the fact, but possibly most important of all is that going to see Dr.Duchan does not feel like a trip to the dentist, it feels like visiting a friend or family member and before you know it your time is up and your problem fixed.

Dr. Duchan was awesome. I had my first visit with him yesterday for a regular cleaning. He answered all my questions, took care of me and didn’t try to sell me on anything. He is a one-man show so like other people have said, he’s busy and there isn’t anything super fancy about the office but it’s cozy and clean. I highly recommend him.

I’ve been through at least five dentists and was questioning if there were any dentists out there looking after the interests of their customers rather than lining their own pockets. Some dentists invoiced for more money even after insurance had paid for the cleaning but not Dr. Duchan. Some dental offices have poor customer service with dental assistants/receptionists – but no need to complain, not giving them business is enough said. So believe me, it’s good that Dr. Duchan is a perfectionist who prefers to do things himself; he does have an assistant that works part-time but sparingly and good help is always hard to find. This is true of Dr. Duchan, who’s really good at what he does and holds no punches at telling you the truth about dentistry and maintaining healthy teeth. I’ve learned a lot just by asking questions and he’s a professional that I would highly recommend. For example, I was looking into orthodontic treatment and was given four references to call – glad I did because each had varying opinions and costs for the treatment; then I needed periodontal treatment, again Dr. Duchan gave references to check and in the end, I was happy with my selections because it was the best fit and big thanks to Dr. Duchan. If you’re like me, who care about professionalism, creating value for customers and courteous to others then go see Dr. Duchan. I would like to see him stay in business so I can keep going, but don’t everybody go at once, then I can’t make an appt! 🙂 Thanks for reading my review.

Awesome Dentist!! Actually cares about teeth… Will give you more than enough information about The Who, what, where and how with your teeth and dental hygiene… Another reviewer states he is like that one uncle you love lol this is true! He is a one man band so have patience and he will give you everything you need. Also FREE Parking is located on the side and rear of building.

Let me tell you what. I was afraid to go to the dentist as a young adult, but I started going to Dr. Duchan back in 2001 and have been with him ever since. He is super attentive and you would be hard pressed to find a dentist who cares more. Dr. Duchan is a perfectionist and he dedicates his time to each of his patients. I have never felt rushed and he understands that dental care is of the utmost importance. Case and point, I had a dental emergency on Labor Day of 2018. He did not bat an eye. He saw me on Labor Day. That is care and service. I highly recommend Dr. Duchan to anyone.

Dr. Duchan became my dentist a few years ago when i had a dental emergency. Before this, I was still going to my old dentist in Clinton Twp., who i love! Problem was, i live in Huntington Woods now and getting out to Clinton Twp. for appointments were pretty difficult. So here’s what happened, somehow i bit down on my front bottom tooth and hit it just right. It was SO loose, i thought it was going to fall out! i was headed to Vegas the next day and was so scared something was going to happen to my tooth. My boyfriend called Dr. Duchan (he’s been his dentist forever) and although he was closed that day, he agreed to meet me there and check out my dental emergency. Dr. Duchan was SO nice, thorough and really took his time to make sure everything was done perfectly. He had to bond my teeth together and then smooth it out. I have extremely sensitive teeth, and he was trying his hardest to make me as comfortable as possible. My tooth was fine for about a week or so, and then the bonding starting coming off. I called Dr. Duchan again, and he fit me right it. He used a different brand of bonding and did the whole procedure again. He remembered how sensitive my teeth are, and again was super careful to not cause me too much discomfort. After this bonding, it stayed on and lasted for almost 2 years. Just recently, it came off again, and he fit me right in (and again on his day off). I absolutely love Dr. Duchan. He is such a nice guy, and really does care about his work. He is an amazing dentist. His office is super low-key and nothing fancy, but it’s always super clean. Dr. Duchan also does the cleanings, answers phones, sets up the appointments, does the billings, etc. He does it all!!!!!!! What does that say about what kind of person he is……. down to earth!!!

I’m going to make this quick and I swear I’m going to take it easy on the tooth-related puns. Dr. Duchan is one of the most knowledgeable, professional and accommodating Dentists that I’ve ever come across. After a quick phone call and a few questions about my insurance, I had an appointment scheduled. I went in for a cleaning and was out of there before I could say “Root Canal.” I even learned a few things about the field of dentistry. I highly recommend you visit Dr. Duchan so you can stop fearing dentist visits. And if you don’t listen to my advice, well then I hope you get gingivitis, cause you deserve it.
