Dr. Layton is an excellent dentist. He is a graduate of Creighton University School of Dentistry and he uses the latest technology in the field to do top-quality dental work. In addition, he is very respectful and he listens to one’s concerns regarding dental treatment; he is happy to answer all of the patient’s questions and is always concerned with the patient’s comfort. Amber and all of the office staff also provide excellent service and help with appointments and insurance information in an efficient and friendly manner. Maddy, the dental hygienist, also provides excellent service with cleanings. She addresses the patient’s comfort and concerns, as well as offering advice regarding the maintenance of dental hygiene at home. I have been a patient of Dr. Layton’s for 2 years and I am very satisfied with the quality of healthcare service that I receive. I highly recommend Calavera Dental.

I have a bit of anxiety when it comes to many things in life, a trip to the dentist is on top of the list. In fact, because of a bad visit…many years ago…I haven’t been back. That dentist, like others I’ve seen previous, ridiculed me on my dental hygiene. Granted, I deserved it, but that, added on to the seemingly fun time they had poking my sensitive areas (in my gums) with their instruments, and the drills, and the lights, and the uncaring staffs…if I didn’t have a panic attack it’s because I was already passed out! After 8 years…yes, that’s right kids, 8 YEARS!!…I met Dr. Christopher Layton through one of his sons, and decided he would be the one to finally be allowed in my mouth. Stepping into his office was very comfortable: I was greeted by a wonderful staff, satisfied my bum on a plush leather sofa, and sipped on an ice-cold bottled water. After a short initial questionnaire (expected in any new visit), I was given a tour of the office, shown the bathroom, and then sat in a brand new examining chair. Looking at the TV in front of me, and my belly rumbling while watching the Cooking Channel, I asked to change the station – thinking I would get, at most, another crappy channel – and the assistant gave me the remote! I put it on CNN and I was in heaven! Maybe that’s my source of anxiety…CNN. After pleasant small talk with his assistant, Dr. Layton came in with his glorious smile, sat next to me and listened to my answers without judgement in his eyes, or condescension in his voice. He gave me a look over, and gave me an assessment that did NOT make me feel like I was 12 again (and in the corner). He gave me a simple cleaning, during which I started feeling uncomfortable (anxiety never gives me a break!!!), and he simply gave me a break for as long as I needed. After a few brief moments to collect myself, we continued and I had no more issues (I cleared it with the voices, this guy is OK). Oh, and the X-Rays were easy, comfortable, and very quick. Bottom line is: state-of-the-art equipment, GREAT staff, comfortable environment, and easy on the sensitive areas (in your mouth and mind).
Thank you Dr. Layton, you have found a patient for life. P.S. get better magazines, Reader’s Digest is great….when you’re 70 and feeling nostalgic, let’s get some OMNI, Rolling Stone, or National Geographic

Wow do I have a densest I can trust!! I totally hate going to the dentist!! Dr Layton has given me a trust that changed my thinking!! He has always made me feel comfortable and his staff are so nice and polite!! Dr Layton has always explained everything he does and his reasoning behind them which to me has always made sense. As far as pain, he seems to always keep the pain out of all repairs!! The most important!!!! Not only that, I had a crown put in by doctor Layton which after over a year cracked. Thought warranty was over, but Dr layton redid the crown and did not charge me a penny!! Told me he stands by his work and could not charge me!! Now how many dentists would do that!! Tell u what, if u want a good Christian dentistt u can trust, you just found him!! Hope you live close to Oceanside!! Well worth the trip!!

I cannot say enough about Dr. Christopher Layton and his staff. After hearing (from a pediatric dentist) that my 4 year old needed a TON of work done, I went for a second opinion to Dr. Layton and never looked back. Dr. Layton’s first concern was what MY concerns might be! Instead of trying to convience me to go to Children’s hospital and have my child put under anesthesia to do the dental work (and my kiddo is very compliant by the way) Dr. Layton did everything right in his office with nothing but a little numbing! No “happy gas” needed! He was so nice and gentle. The whole time my little boy was giving him the thumbs up! Dr. Layton was also able to do the work without the extensive treatment (i.e.,crowns) the other dentist insisted on. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!! My child now LOVES the dentist and asks almost daily when he can go back and see Dr. Layton! My family has found our new family dentist!

I am one of those who avoids dentists at all costs…so afraid of the needles, the drills, the pain, and the dentist’s condescending looks. I finally bit the bullet and went to Dr. Layton and a miracle occurred. He cured me of my fear of dentists.First, he didn’t ask me why it had been so long since I’d had my teeth cleaned- he was personable and upbeat with no condescending looks. Second, he had such a calming bedside manner-told me every step of the way what he was doing, so there was no great unknown. Third and most importantly…NO PAIN!!! He used a magic gel to numb me before the shots even happened. I felt nothing! I will never use another dentist. More importantly, I won’t avoid the dentist anymore! Thank you Dr. Layton!!

Let’s start with Amber, she’s amazing! She’s the first person you talk to/see when you call and come into the office. She’s sweet, personable and super helpful when scheduling appointments and answering questions about insurance. Dr Layton is a fantastic dentist, he’s Informative, gentle and professional. I hadn’t seen a Dentist in over 7 years, possibly 8 because of my huge fear of Dentist’s offices. My experience from the moment I walked in the door, to the chair, durning my exam and even the root canal was such a pleasant experience I was almost shocked. Dr. Layton is amazingly gentle and soft spoken, he works at your speed, not his. He is the most selfless Dentist I’ve ever met. He truly cares about you and your comfort. There is absolutely no judgment, no lecture about how your teeth have been taken care of, just understanding and kindness. And to top it all off his staff is outstanding! All of them are sweet, warm and welcoming. I’m looking forward to finally having my teeth taken care of.

I called Dr. Layton’s Office as a new patient for a dental emergency (broken tooth sustained today at lunch) and I was pleasantly surprised that I was worked in immediately. This is an absolutely great dental team. They are always on time and have recently upgraded all of their equipment. Had me in and out for a filling in 30 minutes. Checking back in nearly three years later, I can again testify to the excellence of Dr. Layton and his staff. This time it was a small “pinhole” cavity on one of my molars. It was down near the gum line and spotted during a routine cleaning. He had me in and out in less than an hour and there was no pain despite this issue being in a difficult-to-access location. More importantly, they spotted the problem while it was still very minor, allowing them to prevent serious decay.

I woke up very early one morning with a severe toothache and swelling on the side of my face.The last dentist I went to was a terrible experience.I remember a friend told me he had a great experience with Dr. Layton.I called his office at 8 am sharp the receptionist was very nice and understanding of my condition and made me an appointment for 8:30.when I showed up they took me immediately,After the exam they informed me I had an abscessed tooth.I was in so much pain I was ready for him to pull it,but Dr. Layton took the time to discuss the options and that he could easily fix my tooth and in the long run would be so much better for me.The procedure was timely pain free and the end result is fantastic.Dr. Layton`s Dental Practice is very Professional and I would recommend him to every one.

My new favorite dentist of all time! First let me say that I have never been to this office before, but I was leaving on vacation and had a bad tooth. I called and was happily seen the same day. I was referred to a specialist who I saw the next day and then back for finishing work the third day (scheduled during their lunch hour). Wow who does that is all I can say. Staff was fun, friendly and knowledgable. Dr. Layton was great. I’ve had a lot of issues with my teeth over the years and have seen many dental facilities and dentists and let me tell you, this office and staff are, by far, the best!

Since I was a young girl, I always loved going to the dentist. I’ve had some terrible experiences recently with other dentists, one of which should have his license revoked. HOWEVER, last week my 3.5 year old son and I walked through the doors to Dr. Layton’s office and the first thing I noticed was how clean and how fancy the leather couch was! My son immediately jumped on it, and Amy at the front desk welcomed us practically with open arms. I immediately knew that this was going to be a fantastic place. My son was going in for his first ever cleaning. He had had some major dental work done just 8 months prior after he cracked his front tooth at a neighbor’s house, so he wasn’t super stoked about going. I can say though that the staff, especially Dr. Layton, made him feel like he was at home. They turned on Nick Jr on the t.v. which totally made him feel at ease. He even gave the doctor a fist bump….so I knew all would be okay. The dental hygienist must have been a toddler whisperer because she was somehow able to clean each and every tooth like it was nothing. Meanwhile, they took me into another room and started working on me. Not once did my son cry out for me. Not. One. Time. And we were there for almost two hours. I have to say, Dr. Layton was awesome. He was thorough and kind and took very good care of both my son and I. His staff was warm and professional, and just fabulous! He definitely MUST add child dentistry to specialties. They were absolutely fantastic! Thank you for such a wonderful experience. Clearly, you’re doing something right because your staff is wonderful and you were a joy to sit for. I would highly, HIGHLY recommend this doctor for your cleaning needs. xx

Who wants to go to the dentist right!? My daughters first dentist visit was so easy and I didn’t have to be in the room(I peaked around the corner the whole time) dr Layton was gentle and easy with her and showed her proper hygiene. She keeps asking to go back. As for me I hadn’t been to the dentist in over 12 years. Yeah I know…… Horrible experiences make you stay away. First visit was scary for me. Dr Layton and his assistant made me feel comfortable. He told me he’s glad I came in and with a plan he’ll get me back on track. Never once did he criticize me for the state of my teeth. I had to get a root canal and crown. Scary for someone who yes never goes to the dentist. Dr Layton was very positive and took his time explaining what I would need and how it works. He went above and beyond to save my tooth that was causing discomfort. It’s been about a week since my temp crown and root canal and I’m in no pain anymore and everything he told me to expect happened. He’s super gentle and I will def be visiting his office again and referring my loved ones. Plus side my entire visit his assistant was very helpful and actually paying attention wanting to learn. Most assistants watch tv or text.

My husband is the biggest baby when it comes to going to the dentist. I did my research and found Dr. LAYTON. I am so happy I did. He is the best dentist. He put my husband at ease and we were so surprised that all he needed was a cleaning and a mouth piece to keep him from grinding his teeth at night. The grinding was causing the pain and now that it’s been a few months the pain has gone away. Another dentist quoted us thousands of dollars which I would have spent except that I felt something wasn’t right and getting a second opinion from an honest dentist was the smartest thing I ever did.

Dr. Layton is a great dentist, I actually travel from Imperial Beach for my checkups! (That’s how great he is!) First and absolutely foremost he is ethical and trustworthy. That is very difficult to find. I know that if I need work to get done, it is because it is a necessity and not because he wants to run my bill up. Awesome, right?! Secondly he and his staff are absolutely the best. Smiling, happy, they all love their work, dig their job and really do care about their patients. Awesome people!!! Third?! He does great, awesome work.
