Dr. Halpern is an amazing dentist. I haven’t been to a dentist in a few years because of a bad experience and so I was a little nervous. He was super friendly, which eased my fears a lot. He was also super thorough. He explained everything that was going to happen to me step by step. (I had a tooth pulled) The procedure was quick, with An average amount of pain the next day. He even called to check on me a day after the procedure! 

My visit to Dr. Halpern’s office was fantastic! I am normally very anxious whenever I go to the dentist, but he has a very caring and reassuring manner. He addressed every one of my concerns very thoroughly, including showing me what areas I could improve on with my brushing. His staff is also top-notch. After a (very minor and understandable) clerical error, the staff wiped my bill and gave me my first visit with no charge, which was extremely generous of them. They made me feel like a welcome guest every moment I was there. I would strongly recommend seeing Dr. Halpern if you are searching for a dentist in Philly.

Dr Halpern is the best. I’ve been a patient for the past 10+ years for both regular dentist visits as well as other issues that came up (e.g. root canals) and have been very happy with the results. He is not only very competent in what he does, but he is also very transparent and thorough in explaining what needs to be done and providing options when available. He is very energetic and great sense of humor. I have taken my parents to him for some major dental work and they were also very satisfied.

Dear Dr Halpern & Staff, I just want to take this opportunity to extend a HUGE Thank You!! One year ago my journey began. For years I’ve been losing teeth due to low calcium. I’ve been to several dentists who in turn scared the living daylights out of me, as a result I never went back. Finally I stumbled across your office. It was as if I met GOD himself!! Not only that you restored my confidence, however you gave me a reason to SMILE again!! Embarrassing as it is to be a young woman with false teeth, you restored All hope! I now smile from ear to ear! As silly as it may sound, I am one of the few that have been embracing this weight gain. I must admit, in the beginning I couldn’t see the light in the tunnel. Special thanks to Danny who held my hand (literally) and walked me through the entire process. She also assured me that there will be a positive end result. I can write a book about this office and my Great experience! This has been by far the best dental experience ever! Oh, and only you and I know my secret (that’s how natural my teeth look). I’ve been suffering from toothache for the last few days and a friend recommended Alan Halpern for a pain free extraction. The guy is very friendly and carefully went through my options using the x-ray to show where the problem is and how it could either be repaired or extracted. He gave me a breakdown of cost as I have no dental insurance, I chose extraction, at $350, I’ve heard many higher quotes. It was tough going (my root gets thicker towrds the end), but completely painless. He wrote up a prescrition for pain meds, suggesting I only use it if need be as over the counter pain killers are usually strong enough. He noticed a couple of other minor issues, but didn’t dwell on those and focused on the reason I was there. As good as an experience as I could imagine for something so unpleasant.. 5*

Dr. Halpern has been my dentist for more than 5 years now.  He has helped me get my teeth back on track and healthy.  I have terrible teeth and have had to have many procedures including root canals, cavity fillings, extrations, and crown lengthening.  Dr. Halpern has taken care of me through all of this!  I had several terrible experiences with dentists and I went to see Dr. H. on a recommendation from a friend.  He was kind, non-judgmental, and extremely knowledgable.  I have NEVER looked back.  He has taken me in during an emergency when a tooth needed an emergency root canal.  I called the office and his wonderful office manager Donna told me to come in right away.  I was so grateful.  Also, Dr. H. does his own work, he has never farmed me out to anyone else for other procedures.  I am grateful to have him as my dentist and I look forward to many more years of healthy teeth.

I have been going to Dr. Halpern for year now. I not a person that like to go to the dentist and my husband goes to me. I figure i give him a try, he is very knowledge, funny and straight up! Dr. Halpern did alot of work on my mouth, i had gum diesease and he did that, fillings he goes did that, root canal he goes did that, put out a wisdom tooth and he did all of this year. I still have 2 more things to get done, but he make sure i was painless through the process! I recommend him to anyone!

Dr. Halpern and his entire staff are extremely knowledgeable and skilled in their various jobs, professional and fun people to deal with. When you’re having teeth worked on, not only is skilled professionalism important, but a good friendly laugh does make a difference, too.

Dr. Halpern is great!  He is a wonderful dentist and a perfectionist and I love that about him…the girls in the office are extremely nice…especially the receptionist, Donna.  Donna is always sweet and over the top nice; I always have a pleasent visit because of her….Thanks!!!!

After a few less than stellar experiences in the Philadelphia dental world, I was apprehensive to go back. Dr. Halpern and his staff quickly neutralized that apprehension with their friendly and skillful approach. I was ushered through the process with ease and feel silly for waiting so long to get my teeth in order. I’ve found my new dentist.

Well I must report that this guy’s consistently high rating here and at other sites is in fact justified. I was searching for a top-notch dentist after having some uncertainty about the work of some random dentist I went to to replace a filling that suddenly fell out. (I went in with no pain, I came out WITH pain…I believe it’s supposed to work the other way around) I decided on Dr. Halpern based solely on the high ratings, but still had to see for myself. The patient just before me was a doctor – I counted that as a good sign. When my turn comes, what I receive is the most thorough dental exam I’ve EVER had in my life! He found things that explained minor sensations I barely paid attention to as well as things I never would have suspected (which quite frankly were missed by others) And he explained EVERYTHING fully and clearly…which is something I wasn’t used to from dentists in the past. It is very obvious that he has a passion for what he does, his enthusiasm is contagious. If you’re one who gets nervous going to the dentist, his sense of humor and enjoyably empathetic demeanor will put you at ease the moment you meet him. If you’re one who worries about being judged for neglecting your pearlies…you’ll find none of that here. Except for the filling fix the previous week, I hadn’t seen a dentist for 7 years. (Don’t ever do that, by the way – trust me!) Dr. Halpern set me up on a multiple visit plan to get my grill back into top shape. Let me tell you this, and you may not believe me now but… you may actually LOOK FORWARD to going getting dental work if Halpern is doing it. Or at least be at ease with it. But let me caution you…..ZocDoc may indicate that a particular dentist accepts insurance from your carrier but it is your responsibility to double-check that he or she participates in your particular plan by contacting your carrier first. (website or phone). Being somewhat of an idiot, I unfortunately didn’t. After getting psyched about finding a dentist I could trust, I discover he’s out-of-network in my plan. I strongly considered paying the premium just so I could stay…just until the major work was done, but my annual out-of-network limit would have been blown after just 1 procedure and I still had 7 years of work to make up for. (He did, after learning of this offer to try to make arrangements to accommodate me….but I didn’t find this out until I had already started with and worked out a treatment plan with an in-network dentist. Had I only known earlier…) At least I went in to the network guy informed with what I learned from Dr Halpern and that helped immensely. One more thing, I found Donna, his office/billing person to be such a wonderful bundle of sweetness. I just love her…but I’d never tell her that.

Dr. Halpern is an amazing dentist. I have been a patient from the start of his practice in Center City. All of my dental visits have been excellent with absolutely no issues following any of the procedures which include regular cleanings, wisdom teeth extraction, root canal, implant, mouth guard and teeth whitening. I highly recommend Dr. Halpern for all dentistry needs. He expresses genuine concern for his patients, thoroughly explains all procedures, answers any questions and is a true professional dedicated to his craft. The office staff is outstanding and they all work well together. I trust you will have a great experience with Dr. Halpern and will look forward to your dental visits in the future.

I recently started going to Dr. Halpern because of a professional recommendation to him. I came to Dr. Halpern with a ‘food gap’, a problem from another dentist and the food gap was an area where food was getting stuck in between my teeth causing me discomfort and probably decay in the tooth. Dr. Halpern was incredibly understanding of why I wouldn’t go back to the dentist who created this problem and listened to my frustration. I have dental anxiety due to many upsetting dental experiences from dentists outside of the area and Dr. Halpern was reassuring and understanding of my apprehension. He suggested I take a prescription to help me relax while he replaced my crown. I felt much more relaxed when he replaced my crown, and I’m truly amazed that with both the temporary and permanent crowns, I don’t even know that they’re in my mouth, feels just like a normal tooth. He administers the Novacaine very slowly and gently so I really don’t even feel much of anything when he gives the injection. The office walls were recently painted a pretty sky periwinkle blue which is pretty to look at, they often play upbeat and fun music to help you relax. I love getting my dental goody bag! I’m so impressed by him, Dani- his assistant who is very sweet, she lets me hold her hand when I was nervous about the injection and she kindly massaged my arm to help me relax. Stephanie, the office manager is so kind, caring and worked with our dental discount plan to give us a good price. Dr. Halpern has returned my phone calls personally more than once and welcomes any questions regarding my dental care. It has taken me a long time to find a dentist who I really trust, am confident in and feel comfortable with. He does excellent work and is incredibly honest, funny and understanding. I recommend Dr. Halpern and his staff highly! He is excellent and they care about their patients!

This is the best Dentist I’ve ever seen. He explained everything I needed to have done and even explained how the teeth should be brushed. I love this Dentist office and will continue to have my Dentistry work done here. His staff are the nicest people you would want working on your teeth. I highly recommend this Dentist and give him and his staff 5 stars and higher for their service.

This morning offered some awesome news: I am a complete champion. I got a wisdom tooth pulled out at 9am with the aid of Novocaine. No laughing gas, no painkillers, just straight up tooth plucking. I was a little skeptical when I called asking for directions and Dr. Halpern himself answered the phone. Then, I walked into the 4th floor suite to find he shares an office space with an optometrist. Weird thing #2. Lastly, his office decor reminded me of the doctor’s office in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Muted beige colors abound with no real aesthetic clue pointing to the fact that we’re in the year 2009. Dr. Halpern is incredibly personable though, and he went over the procedure thoroughly and gave me a chance to ask questions. I really appreciated his confidence in his skill. He promised I wouldn’t have chipmunk cheeks and the pain would be minimal. I was in an out of there within 30 minutes and things went as he said they would. His secretary was out, so he did all the billing himself…he even entered my information in the computer. Finally he gave me a sheet to take home with care instructions. I should be all healed in no time and if I have any concerns, Dr. Halpern’s cell number is on the bottom of the sheet. He’s now my new dentist. If you want to “go under” or have a hankering for a painkiller scipt, Dr. Halpern isn’t your man. Painless procedure though.

From the ages of 3 to 27, I went to the same dentist, whom I adored. When I moved to Philly in my mid-20s, I continued to make the 1.5-hour trip back home every six months to see that same dentist for a few years. After tiring of this commute, I sought recommendations from friends. One of these recommendations was for Dr. Halpern, and I could not be happier that I made the switch over to him. He and his excellent staff treat their patients with care and are a joy to visit every six months. Seriously, has anyone ever said that about a dentist? Doubtful. As long as I live in Philly, I will always be a patient of Dr. Halpern’s (that is, until he retires!).

Went to see DrAlan Halogen for the first time on 6-11-19, It was the best experience I’ve ever had with a dentist, his office is very nice an clean an his staff  are great. Dr Halogen answered any question I had an being that I am not fond of going to the dentist he make me feel so relaxed.He also has a great sense of humor. Loved my experience, will recommend Dr Halpren to all my family an friends. He is now my dentist. He’s the  best.

Dr. Alan Halpern explained everything about my concerns and the treatment in great detail. I feel that Dr. Halpern is a very honest dentist after seeing a dentist that tried to charge me 3x the cost of the prices Dr. Alan charges. I would recommend Dr. Alan Halpern

For my initial consultation, I met with the hygenist/assistant who took my x-rays. Those were quick and painless. Dr. Halpern then did a full comprehensive exam, which I was surprised that he took the time to do so. He thoroughly examined everything, gave me better analogies (to hopefully get me to floss better) and answered all of my questions. I never felt rushed nor dismissed; he genuinely cared with what I had to say/express. I am glad I came here based on the reviews. I highly recommend Dr. Halpern!

Dr Halpern is a wonderful person and an even better dentist. He has been my dentist for many years and I trust him implicitly. No one loves going to the dentist, but with a doctor like Dr. Halpern you are never afraid to call him!

Absolutely fantastic experience. I have not been to a dentist in many years and was dreading the visit. Dr. Halpern and staff are very nice and explained all dental terminology in construction terms that I could comprehend. I’m actually looking forward to returning for my cleaning.
