Alone and scared. That’s how I use to feel about going to the dentist. At least until I started coming to Dr. Urban’s office. I grew up in the time before “Friendly Dentists” and had awful childhood experiences of visiting the dentist. This fear had never gone away and it has always been extremely traumatic for me to even MAKE a dentist appointment. But, because of Dr. Urban and his wonderful staff, I have conquered my fear and am regularly back in the dentist chair for cleanings, checkups, and treatments, I definitely recommend this office. Thank you, thank you, thank you! An added plus: If you are like me and maybe just a bit apprehensive about a particular dreaded procedure there is the option of choosing to have a little “assistance” (Nitrous Oxide or an oral medication) to help calm your jitters.

I was very hesitant to go during Covid 19. The staff was so polite to accommodate me and reassure me. Elise called and told me we have temperature checks and covered seats, hand sanitizer. I felt completely safe and at ease. Wearing the mask was no problem for me. Checking my temp again before I sat down put me at ease as well. Overall. Very safe environment and felt completely safe given the current pandemic.

Dr. Urban is one of the nicest people I have ever met and the BEST dentist! He is a very personable person and really takes the time to get to know you and treat you like you were his own family. The staff is wonderful, I have been seen by all of the hygienists and I would recommend any of them! Not to mention the office is beautiful, clean, and neat. If you have work that needs to be done the “movie goggles” are great! What way to take your mind off of things. I have never felt (well, not quite) excited to go to the dentist before!

Everytime I go to this office I am more convinced about the reason why. Bonnie has been there forever and always makes sure I schedule an appointment. I just love Jaime. She takes care of me fast. I feel like I am visiting old friends when I go. This is one of the most efficient offices I have ever seen and believe me I have seen many. Of course the most important part is Dr. Urban. I was a patient of Dr. Urban for several years. It took me a long time to find a dentist that was fair on pricing and provided good bedside manner so I was sad when I heard he retired. I wish him the best. The new dentist’s that took over are very similar to Dr. Urban. There is a father and a daughter that are both licensed. I worked with the father, Dr. Carlos and he was great. We built some rapport, he shared some knowledge about dentistry (and life) and he listened to my needs as a patient. They still have the same, sweet staff along with some new folks. One of Dr. Carlos’ other daughters works as an assistant and she was great to work with too. I had a crown put in and she followed up with a phone call the next day to see how I was feeling. Truly a family atmosphere in the office. Highly recommended.

Simply the best dentist I have ever had! Dr. Urban is incredibly knowledgeable, extremely approachable, and has a terrific bedside manner. He is a true professional. Most people have bad things to say about their dentist, I actually enjoy seeing mine. In addition, the staff is amazing. They are some of the nicest, most caring people I’ve ever met. I am very skeptical around dentists since most of them want to up-sell you. I found SouthCoast Dental and have been happy for the last two years. Dr. Compean and his staff are the best in the business. I am always treated with respect and feel very comfortable. Each time I go for a cleaning the hygienist is extremely thorough and detail oriented. I wanted a cosmetic change. I wanted to have two crowns changed. Dr. Compean and the staff made the process easy and hassle free. They can get temporary crowns in a few days and permanent crowns in a couple weeks. They do an outstanding job mapping the teeth and color matching the crowns. The staff in the office took care of all the insurance details and provide accurate pricing for crowns. My family and I will continue to see Dr. Compean and his staff.

I had an excellent dentist who is also a high school friend but when I started working in Cerritos I broke a tooth and needed a dentist quickly. Lucked out and picked Dr Urban. This is my second visit to Dr. Douglas’s office and I couldn’t be more pleased with the decision I made to see them for the care of my smile. A friend referred me after an ATV accident where my teeth needed repair. Dr. Douglas saw me on short notice and took excellent and gentle care of me. Google: Can I change it to SIX stars ? ‘cuz they’re hitting it on all six cylindars, WOW ! this place is a DREAM – right from the forms you fill out, not ridiculous, with asking useless info, impossible to fill out, and up front with everything – no surprises, they let you know UP FRONT what the charges will be, even with the different options… they work with you to get the most benefit out of your insurance, instead of trying to stick it to you – the office staff is super friendly, but not phony friendly – even the younger assistants are compassionate, which is rare these days – the girls up front are super cool – LOVE THIS PLACE !

I was in search of a new Dentist and dread having to begin the process of doing a history check on the few candidates I’d selected. Added to this process is the COVID-19 pandemic which brought on another level of anxiety. I’d placed a call to Cerritos South Coast Dental to inquire as to what COVID-19 procedures/ practices they have in place to protect visitors/clients. All of my concerns disappeared after speaking with Elise she was soooooooooooooooo nice, informative, and professional. My experience got even better upon visiting the office. The office deco and lighting give a warm, calm, friendly welcoming vibe which mirrors each staff member I interacted with. Dr. Mary, Denise, Elise, Terri and one more person (sorry I can’t remember her name) You are the TRUE definition of AWESOME & GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE !!!. Spending time in the dentist chair is not my idea of fun… I’m a 17 year old dancer and I do not like sitting still for long periods of time. Upon my first visit I was welcomed by Dr. Urban’s friendly staff. I was told they would be with me in just a moment. Getting ready for a wait, I was pleasantly surprised when I was called in almost immediately. I was there to have my teeth cleaned and get some Xrays. Their equipment is very up to date compared to other dentists I’ve visited. I know having Xrays done isn’t a big deal for most people, but I don’t like it because the “thing” they always put in my mouth cuts my mouth, but not here!!! As I said I don’t like sitting still and before I knew it, my teeth were sparkly clean!!! Dr. Urban was funny and easy to talk with. I liked him. All in all it was the best dental experience I’ve had. YOU should come visit this dentist!

Have no fear with Dr. Urban! Dr. Urban is one of the most gentle dentists I have ever encountered. A visit to the dentist used to be very traumatic for me. My knuckles would be white from clinching my fists and I had anxiety attacks. After seeing him a few times I am now a very calm patient. I use an ipod if I am nervous (yes they have them there). I watched a movie with the goggles on one my longer visits. I just love the office! Everyone there is so nice and I feel as though I am in good hands when I walk in the door. I am so glad that I found him. I want everyone to know what great office this is!

I’ve been a customer since 2011. Dr. Urban has always been amazing! I’ve since had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Mary Compean and she carries her professionalism and talent just as well. Dr Urban and his staff’s priority are to make a connection with you as a human being. Can I give 10 stars? Dr. Urban and his staff are beyond amazing. I usually see Lilly for my hygiene appointments and she is a blast! We literally laugh the entire time. I’ve been a patient of Dr. Urban’s for a long long time. Why? Because he and his staff are just the best. He and his staff are great communicators and comforters. When you arrive at his conveniently located office you are greeted by his office staff and a very nice and calming waiting room. After a lifetime of ice tea and sodas my teeth have been stained and darkened. I’ve wanted to whiten up teeth for a long time. Doc Urban gave me a solution. I started on the at-home Venus Whitening Pro System. My first appointment was to create the teeth trays for the whitening system. Yes, it’s not the most pleasant task, but most of the dentist’s tasks in the chair are not pleasant to me. The metal trays that contain the hardening material is a chalky goo that needs to sit on your teeth for only about 30 seconds, but it does seem like 45 minutes. A couple of days later my teeth trays were ready. At that appointment the doc’s hygienist showed me the how to use the trays and the whitening liquid. She measured my current color of my teeth and discussed with me the goal of how much my teeth would whiten. That night I used the trays. It was easy to use the trays and the liquid. I woke up the next morning with a wow. My teeth were noticeably whiter. Years of ice tea and soda stains were quickly being removed. Thanks Doc! I’ve been using the system for a few days now and what a difference it has made.

Cerritos Southcoast Dental was established in 1983. We take pride in the fact we have improved the smiles of our patients and developed many long term friendships with their families. After many years in dentistry, I still love what I do. I continue to keep up on the latest in dentistry by attending seminars, dental study clubs and courses. My wife and I love hiking and traveling. We have 3 wonderful children and we feel blessed. I always look forward to unwinding on Fridays on the golf course.
