I’ve had a vastly different experience with Dr. Cohanim than the other reviewer. I had previously visited another orthodontist but didn’t feel like they listened to my concerns. At Smileworks, however, Dr Cohanim and his staff were very patient with me, listening carefully to my questions and talking through all my options. This has continually been the case throughout the past 9 months that I’ve been a patient (I’m doing invisalign braces treatment). What’s more, they’ve been super-flexible with me — I’m a business traveler, out of town almost all the time, and Dr Cohanim has gone out of his way to work with my schedule. Certainly, it’s no fun to wear braces as an adult, but I’m thankful that I’m going through this experience under the thoughtful and considerate care of Dr Cohanim.

Dr. Cohanim boasts an amazing portfolio with great success stories, including my own! He also has an extremely kind persona while being firm and professional. I also appreciate the way my own ideas and aesthetics were incorporated from the start. The minute changes and tweaks are what really refine your final look, and it truly seems like an art. Dr. Cohanim is truly a master in his field with many satisfied clients. Jessica and Patricia also provide great support for Dr. Cohanim. Communication with the office is prompt if not immediate. Jessica is a very kind and seems extremely proficient, a great support arm for Dr. Cohanim. Patrician works magic for the office, accommodating my completely inflexible work schedule. So as I carelessly knocked my brackets off, broke the hardware or lost my post-braces retainer, these two accommodated me promptly, with kindness, and a smile. As of this post I’m braces free and couldn’t be happier with the entire 2+ year experience, start to finish.

I have had par-exelence experience with Dr. Cohanim, so satisfactory so that I would fly each month from New York to Seattle just to see see him and then would return back to New York very same day. Trust me, spending 6 hours flying back and forth between New York and Seattle is not fun, but the time and money I have spent was worth every penny. Dr. Cohanim set a clear treatment goal and I have obtained more than satisfactory result. I would strongly recommend him as your orthodontist. Based on my specific treatment plan, I have carried invislighn and then switched to braces. The staff is super friendly, welcoming and approachable. They will work around your schedule. Just an update, I completed the orthognathic surgery part 3 months ago and it all work out great. It actually healed up a lot faster than I expected and I’ve experienced no complications whatsoever. The first week or so after surgery was a bit rough, but it’s surgery, so I was somewhat expecting it. It’s all downhill from here with only a few more months of invisalign. Dr Cohanim and his staff are excellent. My dentist recommended him and they are familiar with a lot of orthodontists in the area. I elected to go with Invisalign to correct my bite. I would give (and have given) anyone a referral to Dr. Cohanim. I was hooked from the first appointment when I walked in the door and found one of my favorite people sitting behind the desk (Patricia, formerly of Guy Roberts, DDS). Then Shanda and Jessica reaffirmed my feelings by being so friendly and professional. Finally, Dr. Cohanim clearly knows his stuff. He is very direct and not longwinded. Ok, his timeline guess for my care was off by a bit- but that is more a problem of my mouth than his estimate- lol. One HUGE star alone is for the fact that I think the longest I have ever had to wait for my appointment time was 5 minutes.This is very important for those with busy lives. One word if you are considering braces- GO! Plus the view out the windows while you’re in the chair are gorgeous.

I recently got my adult braces off and couldn’t be happier with the whole experience, from start to finish. Had I known it could go as smoothly as it did I probably wouldn’t have put it off so long! The number one reason I enjoyed the experience is because of everyone at Cohanim Smileworks. She does an incredible job of getting me in when needed at a time that works with my schedule. Jessica is so knowledgeable and helpful with everything she does during my visit. My daughter has been a patient of Dr. Cohanim for the past three years. Dr. Cohanim has a quiet, relaxed demeanor that my daughter appreciates. The staff is friendly and the office is modern and has lovely views of the city. The patient base seems to be primarily children and teens. In talking to other parents in the waiting room, this is very much the Bertschi, Bush, SCDS, and UCDS set which is somewhat amusing. The quality of care is excellent, and as a professor at the UW, I believe Dr. Cohanim is up on the latest techniques.

If you are looking for an orthodontist whose medical knowledge is encyclopedic, treats the whole person, and takes the time to be caring even while maintaining a very efficient office, then look no further than Dr. Robert Cohanim. Several years ago, I began Invisilign treatments with a dentist. In hindsight, I should have consulted with an orthodontist, but mid-way through a treatment program that was not working, a friend referred me to Dr. Robert Cohanim who turned out to be a pioneer of the Invisalign technology in the Seattle area. Notably, he is also an associate professor at the Orthodontic Department at the University of Washington Dental School. Dr. Cohanim is a busy specialist with a high case load, but you’d never know it from his bedside manner. He is generous with his time. His manner is quiet and confident and he pays great attention to detail. He welcomes questions and provides thorough and understandable answers. He offers best advice and treatment during every visit—for every issue. The Cohanim “Smileworks” office is smoothly run. The support staff have been employed with Dr. Cohanim for many years and work smoothly and effectively together as a team. The office manager, Patricia, is efficient and sets the tone for a welcome and inviting experience in the office. A sweet touch to the atmosphere are homemade chocolate chip cookies that sit on a plate next to the coffee.

I have been under the care of Dr. Cohanim and his wonderful staff for the past few years and cannot say enough positive things about my whole experience. From the moment I walked into the office, everyone put me at ease with their friendly smiles and genuinely caring demeanor. I was referred to Dr. Cohanim by my dentist for orthodontic treatment almost four years ago. I knew that I needed braces but had been putting it off. At my initial visit, Dr. Cohanim thoroughly explained the issues with my teeth, as well as, my treatment options. I found out that I needed to wear braces and have jaw surgery to correct my open bite. The thought of having surgery can make anyone feel frightened and overwhelmed, and at first I did feel this way. Dr. Cohanim was very understanding about my concerns and offered a non-surgical alternative. He explained the risks and benefits of both options. Dr. Cohanim took the time to patiently answer all of my questions and advise me about what would provide the best outcome for me. I never felt pressured to make a quick decision. I immediately sensed that Dr. Cohanim truly cared about what was best for me as a patient and that he had my best interests in mind. After much thought, I decided to move forward with jaw surgery. I asked which surgeon he would recommend and he suggested Dr. Feldman because of his expertise as a surgeon. They have treated many mutual patients, including his wonderful assistant Shanda. I decided to go to a consultation with Dr. Feldman as well as another maxillofacial surgeon in Seattle for a second opinion. After listening to both surgeons, I chose Dr. Feldman because both he and Dr. Cohanim instilled confidence in me. I had to wear braces for about one year and a half prior to my surgery and for a time after surgery. Although it is not the most enjoyable experience to wear braces as an adult, the end result far outweighs the temporary inconvenience. As my surgery date approached, I began feeling apprehensive and had a lot of questions and concerns. Dr. Cohanim walked me through the whole process with care and understanding. Shanda told me about her own experience and answered my myriad of questions. It was so helpful to talk with someone who had gone through surgery and I am so thankful that she shared her experience with me. Throughout my orthodontic treatment, everyone at Smileworks was absolutely wonderful to work with. The office is very organized and great about sending you appointment reminders and other important information. Patricia is the first person you see when you enter the office and she is a genuinely kind and friendly person. Shanda is a lovely person and fantastic at what she does. She is skilled and has such a gentle touch when adjusting your braces. Dr. Cohanim is excellent. He is an expert in his craft and I couldn’t have asked for a better doctor. He has fixed my bite and given me a great smile. Dr Cohanim and his wonderful staff have helped make my decision for orthodontic treatment and surgery one of the best decisions of my life. Two of my young children are a year into what will likely be years of treatment with Dr. Cohanim. I feel like they are in excellent hands. The staff is extremely professional. The office is comfortable, clean and open. Dr. Cohanim answered all of my questions and never seemed rushed. I appreciate that he’s a professor at the UW which means to me that he has the most current information about advances in his field. I’ve felt as though when there were options about treatment that the pros and cons were well explained so that I could make an informed decision for my kids. In contrast to a negative review below, in one case, Dr. Cohanim referred us to a (terrific) pediatric dentist for an extraction so that we could avoid general anesthesia with an oral surgeon.
