After having several bad dental experiences that I won’t give any energy to, I am Happy to say that I have found a wonderful dental team at the office of Dr. Cynthia Cheung. Dr Cynthia is my primary and Dr. Sun did dental surgery on me with minimal discomfort. The office staff is friendly and professional. I am so Happy to have my dental services with them. I am in Excellent hands!

I could not be more pleased with Dr. Cheung and his staff. He has done several root canals for me. His manner is calming and friendly. He takes the time necessary to provide optimal treatment. Dr. Cheung made himself accessible following treatment if I had any questions or problems. The best part was that I experienced no pain following treatment that wasn’t covered by tylenol. I highly recommend Dr. Cheungi!

I have been seeing Dr. Cynthia and Dr. Joyce for several years, and highly recommend this practice in Westwood.  Their office is clean, modern, and welcoming for a dental office!  The staff is courteous and friendly.  I like the underground parking in their building since parking in this neighborhood can be difficult.  Note that you have to pay for this parking, as they no longer validate. I recently had a crown replaced and they were able to squeeze me into their busy schedule quickly for the initial visit.  For those of you who cannot get away during the week, they are open several Saturday’s during the month.

Rarely do I give 5 stars and even more rare that its for s dental office. But its a new year so new perspective. Let me tell you I HATED the dentist, I mean truly detested to the point of I won’t brush my teeth the day of just so my dentist has to smell the funk. Years of horrible experiences at different places throughout childhood developed this hate. But this place REALLY changed decades of resentment in 45 mins!I showed up about 8 mins late to my appointment. No hassle no smart ass remarks the receptionist simply let me check in electronically and I had a seat. I was seated for all but 3 mins when a friendly dental assistant escorted me back to my room. Immediately I was impressed. Not only was everything so clean and well organized but they had a nifty adjustable flat screen for my viewing pleasure. The dental assistant promptly took my x-rays apologizing for any pain or discomfort (which I didn’t experience) and then asked what I wld like to watch from the selection of DVD’s. While I waited for the dentist I enjoyed Scrubs. Shortly after the intro song the dentist came in introduced herself and pulled up my xrays on that nifty lil flat screen. She informatively broke down what the hell I was looking at in a very easy to understand way. I’ve never had such a clear explanation of what was going on in my mouth in such detail. I was impressed and not at all overwhelmed. She then proceeded to do a cleaning as I watched my show. 20 mins later I had beautiful white teeth that were once ridden with plaque buildup. It was amazing! And super fast above all else. And mind you I haven’t been to a dentist in years so there was quite a bit of cleaning to do!Everything was handled so promptly and courteously I was super impressed and to top it off they gave me a goodie bag filled with a toothbrush, floss, toothpaste and some ChapStick. Fuck they are amazing and I can’t wait to come back! You ladies are amazing thanks you sincerely for such a memorable experience I never thought I could feel this way about a dentist xoxoxoxo

I’m so beyond sad that Dr. Cynthia Cheung and Dr. Joyce no longer accept my insurance.  I had my first appointment (cleaning and x-rays) with a new dentist, and it just did not compare.  Cynthia and her team are amazing.  From the minute you walk in, the staff is warm and welcoming.  I’m a total wimp when it comes to the dentist, and they really go above and beyond to make sure you’re as comfortable as can be.  They are also very gentle, which helps to put me at ease. They have Hulu and Netflix ready to go, so you can watch whatever you’d like during your cleaning.  Thanks for everything Dr. Cheung, Dr. Joyce, and company!  I will miss everyone so much!

Been going to see Dr. Cheung for over a decade, when it was just Dr. Cheung. There’s a reason why her office is always booked solid in an area where dental offices are everywhere. Her office blew up so fast. She and Dr. Joyce are awesome people (trustworthy and genuine) and great dentists. I’ve moved away from the Westside, but continue to come back. I also saw Dr. Arias for the first time recently and he’s also great and informative. His personality is also very pleasant. I hate my drive, but it’s so worth it to be seen by anyone on her great team.

Like my fear of the dark as a child, my fear of the dentist is finally starting to go away. Thanks to Dr. Cheung’s office! I thought I’d posted a review on this previously, but apparently I was mistaken, so this is a long time in coming. I’ve been coming for the past several years and can honestly say that I love my dental office. I could never say that before and for a period of about 7 years during college and afterwards, I didn’t go see the dentist because I just hated the thought of it. When I finally mustered up the courage to find a new dentist, I looked around and found this one. It’s been an absolute revelation and I wouldn’t go anywhere else. If there are any cons to this place, it’d be the location smack dab in traffic congested West LA and that they don’t validate parking. But everything else more than makes up for these negatives. Dr. Cheung has always been great and the hygienist Nancy is amaze-balls. I literally can sit down in the chair and be at peace knowing that the cleaning is going to be gentle and about as painless as can be. Everybody should be so lucky! Note: The Hulu tv monitors are awesome too. Helps to take your mind off of the procedure! I can’t speak to more intensive procedures, but my experience with the general dentistry so far has been magical.

A friend of mine told me to go to her after I was in the quest to find a dentist in LA because a lot of them are shady.   Dr. Cheung is by far the best dentist in town that I’ve encountered. And I’m not exaggerating this statement. One thing I LOVE about her and her staff is that they’re all HONEST! You can trust them, and they won’t do unnecessary things to your teeth just to make an extra buck.   Scheduling an appointment was easy as 1-2-3, and the friendly staff is always willing to work with you. She also currently with technology in her procedures i.e. digital imaging x-rays. You can also watch DVD’s/TV shows while they work on you.  If you need a dentist in the LA area, you NEED to go to her.  And this is an unbiased review.  Look at all her other 88 positive reviews. And I am NOT related to her at all.  I also inquired about invisalign and she told I had two options, and she felt that the cheaper option would best suit me. That in itself speaks a lot.  It’s hard to come by honest health care professionals who genuinely love her profession. This also goes for everyone of her staff members.

I really liked my experience here. Got an appointment the same day. They squeezed me in and I still didn’t have to wait in the lobby or anything. I got in quick, they took x-rays, (only xrays of a specific wisdom tooth, not full xrays), and Dr. Cheung examined me herself. I was in and out quickly but the visit felt thorough. Only 50 bucks for everything – I don’t have dental insurance either. She gave me a great recommendation for an oral surgeon also since their oral surgeon was unavailable quickly. Clean office. Helpful staff. Even called me and stored my jacket when I forgot it in the office. Thanks!

Yay, another cavity free visit to my favorite dentist! I can’t stop raving about how awesome she is. And this is coming from someone who avoided going to the dentist like the plague. Dr Cheung is super cool, nice and knowledgeable. She cleaned my teeth with no pain, while my daughter sat next to me watching “Monsters vs Aliens”. A child friendly office? I like! After my cleaning, she gave me free toothbrush, toothpaste and floss. Good stuff.I highly recommend her to anyone in need of a good dentist. She’ll make your visit fly by painlessly.

Dr. Cheung is a caring and talented dentist! I always dreaded going to the dentist before I saw her. She is gentle and very thorough in the exams and always makes great care recommendations. Her office is clean and very zen. I also love that each patient chair has its own DVD and TV screen so you are distracted while the exam and cleaning is going on.

Let me just say right off the bat: BEST DENTAL OFFICE EVER!!Here’s why:It really doesn’t get any better than Dr. Cheung’s practice.  I don’t think there are enough words to explain how fantastic Dr. Cheung and her staff are. I’m so glad she decided to become a dentist, her dental practice should be a model for all aspiring dentists out there.  Here I’ve always received the best, most thorough services of any dentist I’ve been to and had things explained to me in terms I could understand.  The cleanings and x-rays alone are worth the trip, just amazing!  Great part is how gentle any procedure is, you don’t feel like they’re repeatedly jamming their fingers and instruments in your mouth like other dentists.  All of the technology used looks like the newest state-of-the-art dental technology out there, pretty cool.I love being able to watch an episode of Everybody Loves Raymond with headphones and laugh while sitting in the dentist chair of all places.  Check-in is always easy and I don’t wait long.  You’re made to feel welcomed by the staff and they’re always smiling and sympathetic to your fear of being there. And the rooms feel private but not claustrophobic, I must say actually great lighting too.  I was told I don’t need to remove my wisdom teeth even though I was worried about keeping them. She even showed me with the x-ray how my nerves were too close and she was worried about damaging them by unnecessarily removing the wisdom teeth, and that we’d just monitor the teeth. So far 3 years later and still have my wisdom teeth and happy.Everyone is so kind, professional and caring. The office esthetics are gorgeous and modern. Parking is a sinch in the garage downstairs and it’s validated. Everything with insurance was taken care of and I never got any surprises in the mail. I love the engraved free toothbrushes!  More than anything, you can tell this place actually cares about dentistry and strives to be the best, I appreciate that kind of thing in a business. So stop stressing it, you’re in great hands there.  Just make the appointment and never hate going to the dentist again.

I am one of those people who have lots of teeth issues. TONS!  Dr. Cheung is my dentist and she always puts me at ease regardless of my ridiculous tooth problem.  (Wisdom teeth pullings, crown replacements, routine cleanings/x-rays, mouth guard).  She has restored my faith into dentistry!  I used to avoid dentists like the plague because i dreaded the treatments.  Now – no matter how big or small my tooth problem is, I never stress out about it because when I visit Dr. Cheung, she always handles it with great care and ease.Yes – it can take a while to get an appointment but if you are patient enought to land one and stick to it – i say it’s worth it. 100%!  I’ve had emergency situations where they have fit me into their busy schedules right away, too.

I usually like to dissent with the majority when I see so many positive reviews, so I went into Dr. Cynthia’s office with an extra critical eye. However, from my first visit, I was very impressed. My dentist was Dr. Joyce. She is fantastic! Her warm personality makes you feel right at home in “the chair”. If someone dislikes Dr. Joyce, they are crazy and I will punch them in the face… hopefully dislodging some teeth… so that they have to go back to Dr. Joyce and give her a second chance.Just to keep it real… I should be honest and disclose that I almost wrote 4 star review, because they were training a dental assistant, aka “shaky hands”, during my wisdom tooth extraction, but decided against it. Sure she jabbed my mouth with the suction as if gold were lodged within my gums, but I didn’t experience any real pain during or after the extraction. In fact, I had to ask them to stop for a second, because I couldn’t stop laughing at an episode of “Big Bang Theory” that I was watching overhead. Oh that Sheldon is hilarious. If you are that assistant, I forgive you. 🙂 Everyone is nervous when they’re the newbie. But please… stop trying to suck the oral mucosa out of my mouth!!!The rest of the staff is very professional. Maybe a little quiet and shy… but you’re there to get your teeth cleaned… not to attend a punch social. Just make sure you ask them for a Sugar Free Dental Lollipop after your cleaning. They taste like some peculiar mixture of sweet herbs, but after a few minutes you find yourself enjoying the taste. One additional note… Don’t expect to get the cheapest price.  You can definitely get excellent dental care at a more affordable price. However, if you are the type of person that enjoys a little nicer service and doesn’t mind paying more, this will be perfect for you.

Yes, the rumors are true. You may have heard it on the street and said, “No way!” But it happened…it really happened.Moonshine Joey drank so much, he had to go to the dentist…the dentist. He had such a bad hangover, he had to visit Cynthia Cheung’s office…not cool.Well, it wasn’t tight. Not at all…the hangover that is…But Dr. Cheung’s office was. I came in under an emergency type call and they didn’t charge me anything! While I was waiting in the chair, they asked me, “What do you want to watch? The Hills? Entourage? etc?” I said “Entourage” and they turned on the LCD overhanging the chair and handed me some headphones. I was like, “Oh damn son. This is mad nice.”Then a attractive and sweet Asian girl came over and solved my issue. I was like, “Oh damn. Thank you qualified and sexy Asian dentist…that’s real

I might have just found my new dentist for life.  Finding a good specialist in anything is like finding a good boyfriend, you gotta go through all the pain of experiencing the bad ones before you find a good one.  It’s true what they say, Dr. Cheung is great!  She is so nice and sweet, actually makes me feel like she cares about me and not just my wallet *tears*.  It’s so refreshing when a dentist actually says no you don’t need to do something and “we don’t need to do anything to that right now but we’ll keep an eye on it”, etc.  Her prices are very reasonable and I didn’t get a heart attack when I got the quotes/bills.  Her office assistant Katrina is also really sweet and tries to accommodate you with scheduling.  I like that her office is geared to utilize technology as opposed to the dentists of the dark ages.Dr. Cheung is super popular though so good luck making an appointment with her.  =)

Before I begin my review, it’s helpful to know that I’m extremely dental phobic — to the degree that I regularly cry while getting a cleaning, and it has nothing to do with pain (nor am I regularly a crier). In the past, my patient records have been plastered with stickers warning would-be caregivers that they were dealing with an “extremely sensitive patient.” But that’s all in the past now, because I discovered Dr. Cheung.First of all, her office is the chicest and most high tech dental office I’ve ever encountered — in life or on TV. The waiting room is equipped with a check-in computer and a personal coffee machine (which I’ve yet to try out, as there’s never any wait!), and the appointment rooms have screens above the chairs where you can view your X-rays digitally, peek inside your mouth to explore an explanation with a tiny video cam, or enjoy an episode of “The Office” or “Entourage” while your teeth are being scrubbed. The wood floors, tastefully decorated interiors, and gadgetry put me a bit more at ease, but meeting Dr. Cheung cinched the deal. She’s normal, natural, friendly, smart, and competent. She communicates well, explains what’s going on, and puts the patient at ease. Plus, I’ve never had smoother-flowing cleanings or less discomfort while in the chair. And she’s quick! I’m done before I know it — and before I expect it.I actually look *forward* to going to the dentist for the first time in my life. And *that* is nothing short of amazing. Thanks, Dr. Cheung!

I can’t say a whole lot that hasn’t already been said, but I notice that most everyone here has written about Dr. Cheung herself. I will describe my experience with Dr. Gorelik, with whom I had a root canal and partial crown done. She and her assistant, Ana, were very attentive and genuinely concerned about my comfort. The procedure was entirely painless. Dr. Gorelik is exceptional in both her professionalism and her compassion for people who would rather be locked in a cage with rabid pit bulls than face a dentist’s drill. Ana was excellent too, always keeping pace with Dr. Gorelik and keeping me from jumping out of my seat when she set out the extra-large needles. As a whole, the office and its staff are remarkable. Apart from the clean, modern facility equipped with DVD players and regularly re-stocked magazines, what stands out is the attention from everyone in the office, from Katrina, the friendly receptionist, to the dentists and their assistants. Even though I’m sure they see hundreds of patients a month, their attention and concern made me feel like I was their only customer; that’s a rare quality these days, but it’s alive and well here.I wouldn’t hesitate to refer anyone to Dr. Cheung’s office. 5 stars, all the way.

I love Cynthia Cheung’s office and wouldn’t consider too many other options. Her staff are all very friendly and they never try and do a scare/sell on stuff you don’t need. Plus, you can watch a TV show on their screens in front of you while they do their work! It makes the whole process of going to the dentist a little more relaxing. One small downside: Parking in the connected lot is not validated, so I’d recommend street parking or public transportation if you can swing it, and give yourself some extra time to account for that.

(…) I love this dental office! The facility is extremely clean and very modern – I love that I can watch TV while getting work done in my mouth. The staff is super friendly and helpful and the doctors are very knowledgeable and kind.  I found out about this place when I was in college, and I have never been to a better dental office! I cannot remember who worked on my teeth, as I haven’t been here in years, but I recently recommended them to my boyfriend and he is so glad he tried them out! He had his own dentist for years, but now he tells me that he’s relieved that he never feels pain in his mouth anymore! He saw Dr. Arias and aside from his long wait from his introductory visit, he has nothing but positive things to say about his entire experience there. He even came home with a Cynthia Cheung-branded toothbrush AND chapstick (fawwwwncy!). He’s never going back to his dentist again and he is eager to refer his friends here, too! I am so glad I found this place and that I’ve been able to share the joys of my dental experiences with confidence with others because they really do a fantastic job making your smile healthier and brighter. People seem to fear going to the dentist, but I can’t see why that is because I have such qualified, professional, and kind doctors working on my smile! It’s super easy to find on Westwood, and there’s validated parking available underground. They accept Delta Dental PPO, which makes a major difference in the costs of their services, so you really don’t need to break the bank for the quality of your experience here.

I want to give a 5 star shout out for this dental practice. It is efficient, state of the art, friendly and I am more than HAPPY and incredibly satisfied with the skill level and personal experience I had. I saw Dr. Joyce and her talented and kind assistant Girselda yesterday. I didn’t have ANY pain whatsoever, and got to watch an entire episode of a new tv show I’ve been wanting to watch. I got a cavity filled, the beginning of a crown, and fitted for a night guard. When you are talking about your teeth…Your smile… One of the first thing that people see when they meet you….choose your dentist carefully. I am over the moon I found The Dr. Cynthia Cheung Dental practice and I was blessed with Dr. Joyce.

I’m someone who HATES going to the dentist. So much so that I went 5 years between checkups. Thanks to my experience at Dr. Cheung’s, I now go every 6 months. Dr. Cheung and her staff are incredible. It’s painless. There is no scraping, no crying and you get to watch TV while they work. The office is very modern, everyone is super friendly – explaining what they are doing and telling you your teeth are amazing. As a cavity-free patient – I can’t say enough about Dr. Cheung. She worked with my insurance so I didn’t have to pay a dime and you even get a full-sized toothbrush when you leave – none of those cheap ones that other dentists give you. If Dr. Cheung were a commercial, she’d be recommended by 4 out of 5 dentists. And the 5th dentist probably wasn’t a dentist in the first place

The working environment is clean and professional al. The staff is attentive and informative. I am glad I found this place because I am a customer for life now! The tv’s and headphones are such a big help, I almost laughed while watching The Office season 5. They allow you to pick your own dvds. And then they send you home with a free toothbrush and toothpaste. Great experience…see you in 6 months!

I came here from all the amazing reviews that this practice gets and I have to say, everything said before me is RIGHT! I really enjoy coming here for my basic routine teeth cleaning and check-up.  The clerks are very organized and friendly and the dentist/hygienist are thorough, friendly and very helpful with any questions you may have.  I’ve had Dr. Joyce and Dr. Cheung both help me before and they are both awesome!  Very kind and knowledgable about teeth related questions. The atmosphere is also great here.  The office is clean and organized and the lobby even offers water/juice/magazines for patients who are waiting.  The best thing here is that while you get your teeth cleaned (or other things), they allow you to choose some DVDs to watch so you are entertained.  I also really appreciate that this office has up to date gadgets and x-ray machines that make the whole process seamless and efficient. Have been coming here for a least 2 years and will continue to come as long as they take my insurance!

I will start by saying this is the first review I have EVER written!  These 5 stars have been MORE than earned..  I will keep it quick but also want people to know…  I am from out of state and visiting LA for 3 weeks – last week I got a TERRIBLE infection in my mouth/teeth for some reason.. I mean BAD!!  Couldn’t take the pain after 3 days of it getting worse, I had no idea who to call so I 100% went by reviews and Cynthia’s reviews were amazing and 146 of them :)..  So I went for it and made the call on Saturday morning at 8:15 AM, the office was great on the phone, took me in @ 9:00 AM, did what needed to be done, prescribed antibiotics, reasonably priced, and I was on my way..  They were FANTASTIC!..  BTW now it’s Tues and I’m feeling much better 🙂I have never in my LIFE gone to a DR by their reviews, EVER!  Very pleasantly surprised..  Thanks You ALL so much for being so GREAT!

Like most, I HATED going to see the dentist.  That changed when I come to Dr. Cheung’s office.  The office is run more like a day spa, in that they really try and make their patients comfortable throughout the process.  It starts with a clean and welcoming waiting room and continues with the TVs they provide while you’re in the dentist’s chair.  The staff is all very friendly and they treat you like your time is important…that’s a HUGE thing to me when dealing with a doctor.  All around it has been the best experience I’ve had with a Dentist’s Office and 5 stars can’t even adequately describe how much I recommend Dr. Cheung’s office!

You know that feeling after you get your teeth cleaned, where you run your tongue between your teeth and you get this giddy feeling, because saliva is actually going THROUGH your teeth, due to the fact that (*gasp!*) there’s actually NO plaque there??I don’t know about you, but that feeling is freaking addicting.  And apparently, getting my teeth cleaned by Dr. Cheung is my drug.I’ve been to Dr. Cheung’s place 4 times already over the past year.  In fact, I just had a cleaning today!I don’t know how she does it, but I’m pretty sure that Dr. Cheung probably laces her dental tools with some kind of unknown drug.  Otherwise, somebody tell me why I never feel ANY pain or discomfort???I had made the arrangement really late, so I got the 4:30PM appointment today.  After a whole friggin day of work at the office.  So when Dr. Cheung goes, “What would you like to watch?” and rattled off a bunch of different shows.  And I’m like,”Uhhh…duuurrrhh…umm…what would YOU recommend?”  Hahahahah…what an idiot.  She just looked at me and started grinning, too nice to say, “Seriously…what the hell’s wrong with you, you fool?” and instead was all nice and smiled and said, “Well, it’s okay.  You can just listen to the music.”So she looks at my teeth and starts grinning again.
Let me stop here that I have TERRIBLE flossing habits.  Seriously…I think I have floss in my bathroom back when Reagan was the president and it was cool to wear your clothes backwards at school…So she looks at my teeth and goes, “Hey, not bad!  Hmm…I’d say that it’s 5% better than last time!!”  which of course, makes me start laughing my head off because you could tell that she’s being really kind, because if I was her, I’d probably thinking, “Wow…an increase from 1% to 6%.  This kid’s gonna be the end of my career…”So, anyways, after some (undeserving) nice words from Dr. Cheung, she promptly started cleaning my teeth.  And there’s no TV show or headphones to distract me: I hear ever note piping through the ceiling; I hear the high-pitched noise of the water-shooter/plaque-destroyer in her hand.  And I never felt ANY pain.  Not even the slightest scratch or the tiniest nick.  Seriously…at one time, I was actually just starting at the light bulbs in the ceiling, wondering to myself what kind of pixelation they must have.  Yeah…that’s how utterly non-eventful and pain-free the cleaning was.  Dr. Cheung’s really friendly to her patients and a great conversation can be bounced around with her.Similar to what Ace said below…I’m staying with Dr. Cheung until I die!  Good God, she’s going to hate me.  I can just imagine myself at 75 years old and being partly senile and asking her to clean my dentures, because I’m addicted to the feeling of clean teeth…

If anyone is more qualified to critique a dentist it would be me: 3+ (silver) fillings, 2 root canals, all 4 wisdom teeth removed while (completely) conscious and under anesthetic, and crown work.I’m genetically predisposed to avoiding the dentist because I am genetically predisposed to receiving some sort of disappointing news about my teeth. Pigs most have started flying somewhere because I actually left Dr. Cheungs office without being stabbed multiple times with a 4-inch needle.I was due for a cleaning and needed my crown to be fixed (it cracked in the center). Thinking I was going to leave several hours later, drooling with half my face numb, I was pleasantly surprised when I left with no additional work necessary. “That’s it? Nothing needs to be pulled, stabbed, drilled, extracted, tweezed, etc?!” “You’re good to go. That’s it. No cavities.” I guess my $100 SuperSonic toothbrush actually does work…Her check up and cleaning process is indeed comprehensive. State of the art, up to date equipment is used to analyze your teeth and she’s thoughtful enough to explain what is going on in your mouth. It doesn’t look like anyone else who reviewed her had the decency to mention she plays a DVD for you while she works. I didn’t feel comfortable watching Entourage in front of her – too caustic. Anyone who chooses Everybody Loves Raymond would probably need to front the extra $$$ for laughing gas since that show is anything but comedic. And her FRIENDS DVD is completely scratched. Apparently it’s a popular choice so the damn thing froze on me midway through. I am an avid FRIENDS fan and I have not missed a single episode but alas Dr. Cheung worked her voodoo magic and it was an episode I have never seen. Here is the catch though, I challenge any one of you to laugh out loud while someone is poking your gums with a pick. I have a self proclaimed obnoxious cackle so it took every fiber of my being to restrain myself.Other notes worth mentioning:-Complimentary beverages-Automated self check in process (although it is a bit invasive having others in the waiting room look over your shoulder as you’re ticking off whether you have Herpes)-Validated parking which is unheard of in L.A.-Free toothbrush and floss!

I found out about this dental office from Yelp! but waited a year or so until I actually made an appointment. In the time since, perhaps a half-dozen of my friends have gone and milked the referral gifts. Ha.In the year-and-a-half since my unpleasant dealings with Dr. Campbell’s office in Culver City, I decided to finally pay Dr. Cheung’s office a visit. I made the appointment on a Monday and was seen on Wednesday. The office is very brightly lit and has a welcoming atmosphere. I arrived with perhaps 5 minutes to spare before my 10 am appointment. In this time, I managed to fill out some information on a computer and help myself to a complimentary bottle of water. The hygienist who led me to the room where I’d be examined was very friendly and personable, I regret that I cannot remember her name. She took some x-rays, all the while keeping up the banter. I got to pick out a DVD to watch during the visit (I picked 30 Rock — it was awesome) and settled into the chair. Dr. Kuske entered the room a little while later. We talked briefly about my dental history and then she did something novel. She showed me the x-rays, then she took some digital photographs of my mouth and then, this is the key part, WE WENT OVER THEM TOGETHER. This might not seem like a big deal, but it reached the gold-standard of doctor-patient interaction. She explained things that I didn’t understand and walked me through what all of the images meant and how the exam/cleaning would deal with whatever issues were apparent.I was given an overall clean bill of oral health (need to work on flossing…) and left to enjoy 30 Rock for a good 20+ minutes. I was permitted to keep watching during the visit. This was a surprisingly pleasant experience. I was surprised to have maintained my composure while watching Tracy Morgan’s silliness. After Dr. Kuske finished the cleaning, I wasn’t in any appreciable amount of discomfort. The assistant took care of the polishing etc. while I began (but did not finish) a third episode of the show. The billing was painless — no co-pay for UCLA students! — and the staff in the front office was very friendly. I was given a bag with a new toothbrush, floss, and Colgate Total toothpaste that I carried with me for the rest of the day. This dental office is really something else. Everyone is courteous and welcoming, the actual space is accessible and non-threatening, and the service is excellent. While it may not make me wish that dental visits occurred more frequently, I can say that my next appointment will definitely be at this office.

I will admit that I found went to this doctor purely based on their reputation on Yelp. Crazy right? Well, I can only say that I am extremely satisfied with Dr. Cheung’s dental work. I went in for a teeth cleaning and she is very thorough in explanation of every procedure she goes through and doesn’t not look at her watch when you start asking too many questions. She has the latest technology, digital x-rays, live video cams, and even offers DVDs to watch during your cleaning. Also, she actually does the cleaning herself and is very cheerful. Many dentists push that off to an assistant these days.Office is extremely clean, organized, and comfortable. Reception even offers coffee juice water.

Just got back from here and the visit went really smooth.  Check in was a breeze at the computer.  I barely waited a minute before they took be back for my cleaning.  I have never been to such a high-tech dentist and I found myself transfixed by the flat screen in front of me.  They took a full set of x-rays which was trying, given my tendency to gag.  Kudos to them for being patient.  After the x-rays were taken (like 16 of them or something!) Dr. Cheung came in.  She was friendly and thoroughly explained what she was looking at/for on each x-ray.  This was a first in all my years of going to the dentist.  It was also cool to be able to see the x-rays on the tv monitor as they were being taken.  Next she used some type of fancy camera thing to take pictures of the inside of my mouth (fillings etc) and again explained what she was looking for. The cleaning finally began and it was quick and painless.  Her high tech tool makes an  unpleasant high pitched noise in your head, but that’s out of her control.  To top off all the high tech fanciness in the office, she lets you watch tv during the cleaning.  They offered me a bunch of TV shows including: The Office, Seinfeld, Friends, Entourage, Scrubs.  I thought watching tv was a bit odd, but once I heard the high pitched noise from whatever that machine is, I was glad to have headphones on.  The entire staff from the receptionist, hygienist, to the Dr. herself were really nice.  There’s also a parking lot under the building and they validate.

My boyfriend went to Dr. Cheung after having issues with accounting over at Miracle Smile. He thinks this is the best dentist office EVER!He has been for a teeth cleaning and had a couple of cavities filled. Loves the videos that you can watch while they are working on your teeth(although he doesn’t recommend watching comedies-he watched Curb Your Enthusiasm and almost choked when he was laughing). Also, after meeting her the first time and explaining why he switched dentists, Dr. Cheung wrote him a card, which we received a few days later, hoping that he has a better experience at her office and thanked him for coming in.True service that you don’t see much of anymore.I’d give her more stars if I could!

I never thought I would be giving a five star review to a dentist, but she certainly deserves it.  You arrive to a modern, immaculate office.  The waiting area is stocked with reading materials as well as a mini fridge with water and juice, topped with an espresso machine.  You check in and fill out all of your information on a terminal, complete with a tablet for e-signature (no more hand cramps from filling out a bunch of paper forms!)Then they bring you to your seat, equipped with a computer terminal so you can watch your x-rays appear as they are taken.  I’ve never had my x-rays taken digitally and I must say it’s far less painful than those individual bitewings.  Dr. Cheung goes through each and every x-ray and explains everything thoroughly.  You get your choice of television programs to watch while she completes the cleaning.I’ve never had a cavity, don’t have problems with my teeth, and have trouble getting away from work during the day, so I rarely make it to the dentist at all.  However, I’ll be sure to visit her more often.I’m sending my roommate and all of my coworkers to her now.  Thank you Dr. Cheung!
