Dr. Gattegno and his Dental Hygienist, Angela, were excellent! I was nervous to go to the dentist because it had been 2 years since my last dental exam. The dentist I went to prior was exaggerating the state of my mouth to charge more and once I found I was manipulated I was very turned off by dentists. I explained this to the Dr. and explained I was worried about my mouth and they assured me I was mostly fine. They explained everything clearly and were extremely professional. They also have a video playing at the end of the dentist bed of puppies. It’s a nice touch if you have dental anxiety!

Dr Gattegno has been my dentist for the last 10 years and I can honestly say he’s far and away the best dentist I’ve been to in New York . His office is very clean and all his equipment is modern and state-of-the art. I’ve gone to Dr Gattegno twice and both visits have been wonderful. My first visit was pre-covid and my second visit was during covid. I was hesitant to go with covid still going on but fortunately Dr Gattegno has made the office feel very safe. I noticed he had some sort of an air purifier as well as did temperature checks. They even provide an antiviral rinse before working on you. I’d highly recommend Dr Gattegno as he has show to be intelligent and trustworthy.

I appreciate that both times I’ve visited Dr. Gattegno’s office, I’ve had less than a ten minute wait time, even though I’ve arrived significantly early each time. I was out of my last routine cleaning appointment before I was even scheduled to arrive. I’ve been seen specifically by Dr. Gattegno, and he’s great at explaining what he’s doing as he’s working. While the office is quite small, nothing beats the convenience of having my time respected.

I had not been to the dentist in several years and found Dr. Gattegno on Smile GPS. I was so nervous for my appointment. However, I could not have been more pleased. Not only was everyone friendly and laid back, the hygienist that did my deep cleaning was excellent. I was visiting NYC and of all things began to experience tooth pain from a capped tooth shortly after I arrived. I had noticed in our Upper West Side neighborhood a dental office and made note of the phone number in case I needed it. Indeed I did need that number later and called on a Wednesday afternoon at 3pm. Dr. Gattegno answered the phone and was on his way into the office after attending a conference. He said he could meet me at 4:30pm. To make a 3-day long ordeal as concise as possible I’ll just say that Dr. Gattegno was incredibly generous with his availability and concerned about my well-being and comfort. He had sent my x-ray to my email, which I then emailed him back late on Thursday night in as I was in excruciating pain. He followed up with a response and his phone number to call immediately. I saw him again the next day and finally was on the road to enjoy the rest of my visit to New York. Hands down Dr. Gattegno would be my dentist of choice if I lived in New York City!

He is very thorough as well- I recently had a baby and had not been to see him in over a year and he took a number of x-rays just to make sure everything was OK. The office is clean and his staff is really nice. They took a lot of precautions given Covid. I have recommended him to a number of friends and family and couldn’t recommend him more, especially if you live in Manhattan!

I have dental insurance now for the first time in years (thank you, Affordable Care Act!) and my two previous experiences in NYC (done with Groupons) were less than pleasurable. I found Dr. Gattegno online and booked a cleaning. Was nervous going in… Google Reviews were good for Dr. Gattegno but there were some older Yelp reviews that had me worried. There were no hygienists for my visit so Dr. Gattegno did my cleaning as well. He was extremely kind, told me about some minor concerns he had, happily answered all of my questions, and overall it was a good experience. I already booked an appointment for my next cleaning where he said the hygienist will definitely be the one doing the cleaning the next time around. So hopefully whoever does that is as gentle as Dr. Gattegno. Some hygienists are really aggressive with no regard for human life so hopefully that isn’t the case here. Will update my review at that time if necessary.

For as long as i can remember i have despised going to the dentist, and anticipate leaving in agony while complaining like a naive infant. Dr. Dan Gattegno and his co-workers within his establishment blew my mind with how pleasant the overall experience was. Immediately upon entering i was greeted with a broad, welcoming smile which, already began to diminish my preordained feelings of panic. Shirley, the dental hygienist, was not only charming and friendly to further relax my worries, but did a phenomenal job cleaning; at no point did i feel pain. Not even a slight tingle. She was perfect and my teeth are sparkling. The atmosphere is flooded with aesthetically pleasing decorations to further distract one from the cleaning experience. Or, you can look Shirley in her eyes and admire her dedicated focus. Dr. Gattego was the perfect combination of colloquial and informative; he answered all of my questions, and if i needed further treatment i am certain that he would have completed any issues flawlessly. I have been a patient of Dr. Gattegno going on 30 years now. He and his staff have always been very helpful, thorough, informative and honest regarding best course of treatment and about what you really need and what you do not need. When I was interested in spending a lot of money on Zoom whitening some years back, Dr. Gattegno could have easily taken my money but instead said that my teeth were already white and that I did not need Zoom. If I wanted a boost I could try crest white strips. When I cracked a tooth he provided good advice and a referral to a great oral surgeon. During this time of covid when I was not going anywhere I trekked into Manhattan twice from Queens specifically to visit his office because I cannot imagine going to any other dentist.

Dr. G is the best dentist I have ever seen. I have dental anxiety, and going to the dentist is terribly nerve-wracking for me. Dr. G does not judge or make me feel nervous. For cavities, he makes sure I am extra numb and checks in and explains steps throughout the process. Cleanings are always great and thorough. I went to him with a concern about a chopped filling. He took a look, told me that it is fine and it is better to not mess with it, and we should just watch it. (Even though he would probably make money if he told me that work should be done.) He did not even charge me for the appointment. Dr. G is great. He is is patient and kind and as long as he is practicing, I will never go to a different dentist!
