(…) I have required a couple of major procedures and he fully explained the procedure to me in advance, and the office staff ran it through my insurance to find my out of pocket cost, so I could be completely informed in both areas before deciding whether to proceed. On the day of my procedures, he was extremely gentle and concerned about my comfort, stopping often to see how I was doing and proceeding carefully. I have been completely satisfied with the quality of his work and have never had any problem. His staff is equally as professional, friendly, and always willing to help. They remind me of my small-town childhood dentist office.
Lastly, Dr. Buchan goes above and beyond the call of duty. Recently, my son had a tooth injury during a weekend sporting event and, although Dr. Buchan was dealing with his own family crisis that Saturday, he made time to attend to my son’s needs. He was able to x-ray and determine the extent of the injury and provide orthodontic advice until we could get in to see our orthodontist that following Monday. Dr. Buchan is genuinely dedicated to his profession and to the best care of his patients.

I’m so glad I switched to Dr. Buchan. On my initial visit, he gave me a very thorough exam, looking at all the little details pertaining to my teeth and Xrays. I was pleased to get a solution to the chronic pain I’ve been having between a couple of my molars that my other dentist kept glossing over. I also love my new hygienist Danika(sp?). She does a thorough job, didn’t judge me for my tartar build-up (ha!), and is very enjoyable to talk with when her cleaning instruments aren’t in my mouth that is. 🙂

(…) I must say, Dr. Buchan did not disappoint. I found him to be very personable, detailed, honest, caring, and actually had a great sense of humor, which was quite reassuring. He utilizes up to date technology, and actually gives the Novocain time to numb your teeth before the drill starts whirling. That is important. He put a crown on one of my teeth and I must say it was the smoothest and least discomfort I have ever had with crowns. And his front office staff is great! So 5 stars for Dr. Buchan for sure!

I can truthfully say, it doesn’t get better than Dr. Buchan and his staff! Dr. Buchan will never recommend anything that is not needed. If you hesitate to get an anesthetic needle, have no fear, you don’t even feel it. We, a family of five, have been Dr. Buchan ‘s patients since he graduated from dental school sometime in the 1990’s. I have recommended new patients and they all have thanked me for the recommendation. He is a blessing. As I said, DR. DAVE AND STAFF ARE THE BEST!

Went to Dr. Buchan for the first time yesterday, and had a really great experience. The office staff were all highly professional and very friendly (they make you feel like part of the family). I switched from another local dental group, which was a smart move. I got much more information from Dr. Buchan and the hygienist than I ever did at the other place, and was more specifically directed toward treatments that were appropriate for me. The other place had me in treatments that aren’t really necessary, and this office gave me the details to understand my options as well as what’s appropriate for my situation. Anyhow, I’ll never go to another dentist.

Dr. Buchan is outstanding! I had visited his office for a second opinion on multiple cavities I was told needed work by another dentists office. Dr. Buchan’s opinion was that only a few of the said teeth needed to dealt with more quickly and the other teeth will not need as dramatic or expensive work as stated by the previous dental office. He gave me a straight forward answer and kept my best interests in front instead of giving me a more dramatic diagnosis like my previous dentistry office. I really appreciated his authenticity and professionalism in the matter. Something that is rare to find, when most people are concerned with just making more money from you! Besides the actual service, Dr. Buchan himself is a joy to work with. He has a great upbeat attitude and you can tell he has a genuine passion for his work and keeping his clients happy, which is very refreshing in the dental industry! Cannot express enough my appreciation, admiration & respect for Dr Buchan & his staff. Clinically skilled & sound. Let’s be honest we live in an amazing area & there are lots of dentists who are well trained & can do these procedures. Dr Buchan is right up there too notch with them! What truly makes Dr Buchan & his staff stand out is their compassion & integrity. From the minute you walk in the office you feel safe & cared for. I realize very quickly why you get this feel from the office when I met Dr Buchan. A man of skill in what he does, yes… but moreover honest, caring & compassionate. Doesn’t try to sell you on things that as a patient you don’t really know if you need or not. (…) I walk in and there are three genuinely beaming employees at the front desk. Not creepy beaming, just nice people. My hygienist, Collette, couldn’t have been nicer or done a better job. Then the Dr came in and he was great as well. We talked a bit and decided to get some damaged filling replaced. Zero pressure from him. He just showed them to me and I decided. The next week, he was great. He went to great lengths to make sure I was comfortable and felt no pain. With no anesthetic, he replaced the cavities and I had zero discomfort. So far, so good. I can recommend this office.

Dr. Dave Buchan was born and raised in south Orange County. After some traumatic childhood dental experiences, he was drawn to pursuing a dental career from a very early age when his San Clemente dentist helped transform his fears into a passion to help people. Dr. Buchan pursued this passion at UCLA for his undergrad & dental degrees. He is constantly taking courses in Restorative, Implant & Cosmetic Dentistry to keep up to date with the rapid advances in dental care. Dr. Buchan is committed to providing the highest quality of care to his patients. He has enjoyed serving the San Clemente community by coaching youth sports, being active in his local church and helping low-income families with dental care. He & his family have also considered it a privilege to have traveled to Papua New Guinea, El Salvador, Belize, and Mexico to provide dentistry in remote areas where no dental care has been available.
