Long but worth it: Over the past 10 years I’ve grown a HUGE fear of the dentist. I avoided it for so long that my teeth were in terrible shape only at age 20. I know, it may sound childish, but it really took a toll on me every day physically & especially mentally. I could barely even think about sitting in a dentist office without getting anxious. I would even faint at times. I started to lose hope for myself. Dental on Central has helped me in countless ways and I would definitely recommend this place to anyone, especially with fear of the dentist like me. Even after just one phone call with the woman at the front desk made me feel safe. She spoke to me with sympathy and kindness in her voice, which is very important. Walking in, everyone was welcoming and friendly. I had a consultation and Dr. Herro made sure I felt comfortable. They even gave me a blanket when I laid on those scary chairs. & for the first time ever, I was relaxed. I felt like a friend was helping me, not some intimidating doctor. I finally got the courage to set up an appointment for oral surgery. Rosie and Terry, the planners for my payments and surgery date, were both extremely helpful. They were sweet and caring and didn’t look at me as just another patient, even though I was. Finally, the date of my surgery came and it went so smoothly. I asked for them to use anesthesia gas first so that I didn’t have to experience any sight of IV or any scary tools. I peacefully went to sleep within seconds as the other doctor talked me through everything. I woke up, obviously on drugs but as soon as I got home comfortably in bed with my boyfriend, I cried of joy. I felt so relieved. It was as if a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders. I feel more free. To think that for all these years of pain & torture, I finally found courage and just the right place to help me. I had an amazing experience and I can now say that I would willingly go back here, and I definitely will be recommending Dental on Central to people who suffer with extreme fear & anxiety. My experience at Dental on Central was the absolute best I’ve had in my life. Given my severe anxiety about going to the dentist, I was immediately given the opportunity to consult with Dr. Herro and the anesthesiologist to ensure I was as comfortable as possible during my procedure. When I had my work done, the anesthesiologist was incredible and I was able to have all of my dental work completed (by Dr. Herro, the oral surgeon and the endodontist) at one time. Very precautious which made me feel very safe during my visit! First, a staff member must get you prior to walking in the office to check in. When waiting for your hygienist they have the chairs spaced out six feet apart and limit the amount of patients waiting in the room. Once you are taken to the back, they make sure you wash your hands and rinse your mouth out with peroxide. During your appointment the hygienist wears layers of masks and wipes down surfaces as they are used! After I did not have to check out and was able to go on my merry way!

My son has cerebral palsy, n a wheelchair, and he has been going to Dr. Herro and his father for a few years, he usually has to have sedation for cleaning, x-rays and any other work he might need. Everyone there always treats him with kindness and makes him feel comfortable. Dr Herro always explains to us and our son what needs to be done, so o we understand He is the only person I know that gets excited about going to see the dentist. I’m using my wife’s google account to post my review, as I do not have one. I cannot say enough about this dental office! I feel so comfortable with Dr. Herro, and even though the location is nowhere near my residence, I continue to go here because of the amazing health professionals. The front staff is always friendly, but my hygienist Sherri is the one I am truly thankful for! I used to despise going to the dentist because of previous bad experiences, particularly when my teeth were being cleaned. Sherri took the time to listen to my concerns on my first visit, and she always remembers what bothers me and works around that, while still doing the job. She is professional but still maintains a wonderful sense of humor that puts me at ease. She isn’t like other hygienists I’ve had that ask a bunch of questions while your mouth is full and you can’t answer. Sherri just makes general conversation that I can listen to or nod at, and that makes the time go by quickly. She helps take my mind off the task at hand and is so attentive, checking on me and making sure I’m comfortable with the procedure she’s doing. It’s obvious she cares about her patients and that she is a true professional following all health and safety guidelines. I would recommend this office hands down. I’m not sure how many dentists or hygienists work here, but ask for Sherri as your hygienist and Dr. Herro as your dentist… you won’t regret it!

Best dental office ever!!! From the reception desk, financial manager, huge tiara to the dentists. Everyone so nice and professional. Found them as a referral from a different dental office. Needed a root canal, but due to severe anxiety my blood pressure was through the roof. So I was referred there because they can do sedation. However, they prescribed me a medication that allowed me to get root canal completed without any issues. Recently a crown popped off, and they gave me a same day appointment. Normally I would have stressed out all the way there, but for the first time in decades I felt perfectly comfortable.

Brought my other half in who is terrified on needles, doctors to the point of sobbing once he sits in the chair. He had a lot of things that needed to get done and we chose Dental on Central as they sedate patents and he needed to be. The whole staff was wonderful from Dr. Herro, Rosie, just the whole staff in general. they listened and went above and beyond. This was in December. My other half was so happy to get all the issues done. Fast forward 4 months later. Went back to Dental On Central for his checkup and I broke a tooth. I had Dr. J and Coco. All I have to say is WOW. they were absolutely wonderful. I walked in and was greeted with a smile as always and rosie came over. She was just wonderful to work with. So caring and personable. they do not push for getting things done that don’t need to get done for the money and go into detail with you what needs to be done and why and what does not and why. I was impressed on how much time that Coco and Dr. J spent with me on my visit. I never felt like a number, rushed or like Aspen Dental where there I felt like I was getting an estimate for my car. Dental on Central are wonderful. I am so happy that I found them and would highly recommend them to anyone. They cater to the special needs but if you don’t have any special needs or terrified of dentists, I would suggest going here still. Great team here and will be going to them for all my dental needs. I really wish I could give them more than 5 stars.

My daughter who is a minor is a patient at this facility. Most kids or adults for that matter really don’t like going to the dentist. My daughter actually looks forward to going as they all are very polite and positive, and extremely patient. They have a way of making you feel very comfortable and at ease with no anxiety. Dental on Central has been my dentist for about a year and a half now, so three regular checkups. I really like how fast and efficient they are from the moment you walk in the door. Their dental care has been exceptional, as well. The hygienists are fast but patient and always as gentle as they can be (given the circumstances 🙂 ). I like that they don’t always assume that drilling is the first course of action. I have a tooth that’s been on the edge of needing some work, but they put it on a watch and we just keep an eye on it. I like that approach. All in all, I really like the team.

This is the best dental office I have ever been to. I have debilitating dental anxiety and the staff is very patient and understanding to my needs. Dental on Central Phoenix office is a multi disciplinary practice specializing in special needs dentistry, sedation, and pediatrics. We offer a unified team approach to oral healthcare. Dr. Herro and the staff at Dental on Central are committed to helping their most vulnerable patients by providing anesthesia to calm their fears. Dr Herro is a general dentist, and is committed to helping his most vulnerable patients calm their fears and anxiety. He has focused an area of his practice on patients with special needs his entire career. A graduate of Creighton Dental School, he completed an oral surgery externship in San Francisco and studied IV Sedation at St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Patterson, New Jersey. Dr. Herro was a single recipient of the American Dental Society of Anesthesia Horace Wells Senior Student Award for outstanding service in Anesthesia in June 2005. Dr Herro has worked with his father, Dr Ellison Herro, an MD Anesthesiologist, for 15 years providing dental treatment while patients are under sedation or under general anesthesia. Dr. Herro is a Founding Member of the Arizona School of Dentistry & Oral Health, and one of their respected faculty members in the Special Care Clinic. He is a member of the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology, Special Care Dentistry Association, American Dental Association, and Arizona Dental Association.
