I am a long-time patient of Dr. Gordon’s. I live a few miles from the Wisconsin border, and it’s not always easy or convenient for me to go downtown to see a dentist. But that was my thinking before the Big Dental Debacle. You see, about 8 years ago I had an emergency dental problem and foolishly thought I could see a dentist out where I live. What a fiasco that turned out to be! I discovered I had a bone infection in the front of my mouth, necessitating extensive dental work. Well, the local dentist wasn’t sure what was wrong or what to do to correct it (neither he nor any of the other local dentists he spoke with understood that the bone was infected!!!). He consulted with a local dental surgeon, as well as two other dentists from the area, and even sent me to see a specialist. They all talked about maybe giving me a bridge, and whether they should take out one tooth or if more would be better, and on and on, but no one was sure exactly what to do. Meanwhile, I was taking pain pills and not getting any help. Honestly, it was pretty scary that none of them could agree on what I needed. I quickly realized I needed to see Dr. Gordon. He had been my dentist for several years when I worked downtown, but after I retired I felt I was too far away to go downtown a few times a year for cleanings, etc.. But I called Sheri and got in to see Dr. Gordon immediately. The problem turned out to be even worse than I could have guessed, leading to the removal of several teeth as well as the diseased bone; then bone replacement and, eventually, dental implants. But as soon as Dr. Gordon spoke with me and examined my mouth, he knew what course to take. He then consulted with a dental surgeon nearby with respect to the surgery I would need. Dr. Gordon and the surgeon laid out a plan and determined everything that was required to bring my mouth back into good health. It was a long process before I received my final implants, but I was kept informed every step of the way, and felt comfortable knowing I had the best dentist in the business working on me. I never felt for a moment that either of the doctors was uncertain of what course of action to take or what was going to happen next. Dr. Gordon is an easy going guy who genuinely likes his patients and LOVES what he does. He does, indeed, have a state-of-the-art office, and some very cool gadgets. If you ask, he’s happy to show you some of them! I have never had to wonder how a procedure would be performed and never had to ask him to explain why a certain procedure was necessary. These are things that Dr. Gordon explains to his patients before he does anything. Oh, and he’s great at giving those sometimes horrible numbing shots. I hate shots, but feel next to nothing from his. As for his staff, Sheri and Kyle are the greatest. Sheri is always there to make sure you get an appointment when you need it, understand the charges for your procedure, and gets your claim in to the insurance company almost before you walk out the door! She’s awesome. And Kyle, the hygienist, is kind, sweet and is without question the best hygienist I’ve ever gone to. And during my old search for a suburban dentist as good as Dr. Gordon, I’ve sadly seen quite a few. To sum it all up, I’m a Dr. Gordon devotee at this point. I make the trek to Chicago on the train – about 2 hours each way – and don’t complain about it. Well, maybe to my husband. But I would never consider going to another dentist, and am grateful that Dr. Gordon will most likely outlive me. I’d hate to go through the nightmare of trying to find another dentist to replace him! Oh, and one other thing. I receive compliments all the time about what a beautiful smile I have. Why, thank you – yes I do!
