I went to Dr Wong for a consultation and was very surprised with the time and care he took to make sure all my questions were answered. I never felt rushed during my office visit. He was recommended by my sister who takes my mom to see him. Talked to my sister later and we both agreed that Dr Wong while very professional also made you feel very comfortable. If you’re looking for a dentist, I would highly recommend him. Cute office with a welcoming staff too

I’ve been with Dr Wong for about 5 years now, and I’m very satisfied with his work. He’s very knowledgeable in dentistry. I recently introduced my wife to his practice and she also is very happy with Dr Wong. He explains everything very clearly and does not suggest any unnecessary procedures. I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a new dentist.

I used and app called zocdoc to find Dr. Wong.  I wanted to make sure my out of pocket family dental insurance was accepted.  I got an email during COVID that my dentist had sold the practice and they no longer accepted my insurance. It was time to find a new dentist.  My husband went first. It was easy to make the appointment and he is the worst patient. I figured if he did not complain I would go. He  came back and gave a thumbs up.  The office is clean and their covid safety measures are very through. With very little wait to see him and really accessible email and text communication. During my cleaning  I pointed out a problem area in my mouth and he did such a great job that I haven’t had any issues since. I made a follow up appointment to get  a chip fixed and he was fast and efficient. That same chip popped  out 6 weeks later he fixed no charge. I have decided he will be my family dentist for everyone old enough to go for as long as his practice will take my insurance which I hope will be a long time. We look forward to years of seeing Dr. Wong.

I have been going to Dr. Wong for a few years now. He is always kind, personable, knowledgeable, and professional. The service is always great and I appreciate Annie and her reminders! In a COVID-19 world, as someone who is at higher risk and vulnerable, I am extremely cautious of all my outings. I was overdue for my cleaning and also broke a filling that needed to be looked at and filled by Dr. Wong. At my appointment with Dr. Wong, I felt completely safe and at ease. The COVID-19 protocols in the office all aim to provide safety while maintaining great service. Prior to going inside for my appointment a temperature check was administered and gloves were provided to me. I felt completely safe and secure under Dr. Wong’s care. If you’re looking for dentist, he is one of the best!

Dr. Wong and his staff are amazing! They are so respectful of your time as a patient by making sure they are extremely efficient in every aspect of the booking and visit. I can feel that they really value the patients time. They also did a great job of COVID-19 mitigation with their attention to every detail in the office and their procedures. They do all the work, you just show up and will feel extremely comfortable with their setup. Dr. Wong is a great dentist and you can genuinely tell that everyone at the office enjoys working there. I would highly recommend them to anyone in the Bay Area!

I am one of those patients that had the same dentist from early childhood through my early 30’s when he retired. Needless to say, I was heartbroken and procrastinated finding a new dentist. After 7 years I finally saw a new dentist but wasn’t happy with the quality of service I received so I returned to procrastination, again, until I found Dr. Wong and his team. I can’t speak highly enough for this group! Dr. Wong is gentle, firm and very efficient. He leads you through your procedures and reduces anxiety for those of you who dread going to the dentist. Chiaki, the dental assistant, and Annie, the office manager, are both very friendly and helpful. I don’t plan on changing dentists again until Dr. Wong retires! 🙂

Dr. Wong and his team are simply the best. I, like many, neglected seeing a dentist for longer than I’m willing to admit. Dr. Wong made me feel comfortable and talked me through every step, from crowns to deep cleanings! When I chipped a molar, he offered to see me same day and do any repairs. For a big baby such as myself, his patience and gentle touch are much appreciated! His office has a great personal touch, too, including a Star Wars dental pun and a record player. You can truly see the care that Dr. Wong and his team put into their patients and practice.

Doctor Wong is the best dentist ever. The clinic is great, the staff are extremely helpful and professional and I wouldn’t go anywhere else. They explain everything in details, doctor Wong is just PERFECT, The work done was not easy given that I had lots of problems with my previously done root canals in Dubai and doctor Wong took excellent care of that with thorough treatments and care. Would definitely recommend to everyone.

I have nothing but positive things to say about my two years of experience with this practice. Dr. Wong is extremely knowledgeable and compassionate. Every time I’ve gone, he takes the time to explain everything in a way I understand. You can tell he really cares for his patients. His staff is very friendly and professional. Visiting Dr. W’s office was the ideal for new customers looking for a GREAT dentist. The concierge Alexa was friendly, and answered all my questions before my appointment. She was swift at calling me back to discuss what documents were needed to prepare, and luckily, most of these were sent over the phone—their process is really streamlined! I was seen immediately on 2/14/22—I expressed to Dr. W I had not been to the dentist in over 2 years (in part due to the pandemic). He started with X-Rays, and finished my appointment with a thorough cleaning. He even talked to me about being a candidate for Invisalign some time down the road. I scheduled my next 2 visits already. On a safety note- there was ample bottles of hand sanitizer available for their customers. The office was extraordinarily clean, well decorated and above all AMAZING to be in. If you are hesitant about visiting the dentist, Dr. W is your best bet! You won’t be disappointed!

When I came into Dr. Wong’s office with a mouthful of popcorn, Oreos and Cheetos bits between my half rotted out teeth after 10 years of abusing crystal meth, I was very happy with the professional and friendly staff. They did a fantastic job on my teeth cleaning. The ambience is relaxing and the acoustic guitar in the corner is a nice touch. I would totally recommend him to everyone (except my enemies, because I don’t like them) and I plan to have Dr. Wong as my “go to” dentist in the Bay Area. FYI, as a courtesy, make sure you clean your teeth as best as possible before going in.

Derek Wong is the best dentist I’ve ever had. He’s straightforward and no-nonsense in his work, but fun to talk to and puts you at ease. His whole staff is great, and always work with me when I have to inevitably reschedule my appointments. I recently had to move out of state, and it’ll be hard to find a dentist this good.

My visit with Dr. Wong was phenomenal. I had not been to see a dentist for some time, and anyone’s initial hesitation would be understood about finding a new dentist: I was impressed with the swift response and follow up by their concierge, who answered my questions and prepared me for the visit. Most of the paperwork was done electronically which made for a very efficient process for a new customer like myself. I met with Dr. Wong’s assistant, who took X Rays, and was very helpful. I received treatment for general cleaning and even scheduled my next visits in the coming weeks! I must say, during the pandemic, safety protocols were not a concern: hand sanitizer was available when needed. The atmosphere was so amazing- I felt like I was in a 5 star hotel lobby. Dr. Wong’s approach to helping new customers is top notch—he explains everything you need to know, and is really listens to your concerns about dental health. If you or someone you know is hesitant about finding a Dentist, you have to schedule with Dr. W. You will not be disappointed.

I’ve been going to Dr. Wongs office for a few years now. He is by far the best dentist I’ve ever had. When I moved to CA and was looking I picked his office because he had not only great reviews, but a picture of a funny Star Wars pun about teeth (I know what I’m about :p)…. Best decision I’ve ever made 🙂 He really cares about his patients and their well being. He’s not the type to convince you to do any procedures you don’t need either, which makes it so easy to just tell him when something is bothering you and get it looked at to have that peace of mind. He’ll just take a look, make an assesment, and if its nothing serious he’ll note to keep an eye on it and follow up at your next appt (and tell you to call him if it gets worse or is still bothering you before then). I was a little nervous at first to go to my first rescheduled appt during covid (I just wasn’t sure what it would be like). But then I realized Dr. Wong has never let me down before so I confirmed and went in. His covid safety measures are great, and I felt completely at ease on arrival. You get a survey on your phone before even coming in. Then on arrival (wearing a mask) you get gloves, and glasses, and he and his team are suited up had to toe. You keep your mask on till its time to start your cleaning. I think they also stagger the visits so there is very little cross over time between patients being in the office at the same (I’ve gone twice since covid and only seen another patient arrive just as I’m leaving). I recommend him to anyone looking for a great dentist! He and his team are wonderful My teeth are grateful!

I gave Dr. Wong 5 stars because on my very first appt I was a little nervous but as soon as I met Dr. Wong I became more comfortable. He is the worlds best dentist. I have got 2 teeth pulled out so far and dr Wong made sure i was ok and didn’t feel anything not even the needle and I hate needles. (This is not a joke!) Dr. Wong is One of the best dentist I have ever been to. My kids also love him and he has a very cool staff team and very clean office. Great doctor and great staff. The office is very unique and modern. Dr. Wong took his time with me and made my teeth look excellent. Answered all my questions. Dr.’s assistant, Eric, was helpful and attentive. The receptionist knew exactly who I was when I came. Overall, great experience. Will be back for my next cleaning.

My favorite dentist in San Mateo and quite an upgrade over my previous one: I get more choice and quality of work (e.g on crowns) is way better. Dr. Wong has great sense of humor and is very friendly & obviously good with people, I like personal touch to everything he does. I love classic rock music in a background and San Francisco office theme. Never been so happy to go to the dentist before Dr. Wong, happy to recommend him to anyone!

I first found Dr. Wong late 2018/early 2019, and even though I hadn’t been to a dentist in a few years, he made me feel very comfortable and welcoming during my initial visits. His office is very chill and he is very personable and charismatic. He remembers his patients and checks up with them. Even in recent months with the safety and cleaning changes, he still made my recent visit as normal as possible and it was a soothing reminder that not everything in life needs to change due to the pandemic. He’s a great dentist to work with.

I highly recommend Dr. Wong if you are looking for a dentist in the Bay Area.  From booking the appointment to having my teeth cleaned, the entire experience was positive.  Annie was extremely helpful and flexible with scheduling, as I had to reschedule multiple times due to work.  Once I arrived, both Dr. Wong and his assistant were extremely professional.  I sometimes get anxious at the dentist but they made the experience very comfortable.  Dr. Wong was very clear in explaining possible options for my teeth, without pressuring me into anything.  Again, I highly recommend this practice!

I had a great experience while visiting Dr. Wong, as he was very professional and very kind. Dr. Wong fully explained his process and procedures and let me know exactly what he was going to do, so no surprises! His office is very clean and his staff is very friendly. He also uses the latest in technology, such as digital x-rays, which emit extremely low radiation. Derek Wong & team is amazing! Up until 2 years ago I didn’t visit a dentist in years (not proud). Finally feeling brave enough to visit routinely was effortless, and the best part about it is feeling welcomed and genuinely cared for. I had a fair amount of necessary procedures, and I was thoroughly taken care of to my best interest. Anyways I have nothing bad to say, and my entire family can vouch as well.

Wanted to write a detailed review, but got a bit lazy. To summarize, staff at this clinic are professional, warm, helpful, and caring. Dr. Derek Wong was excellent helping me with deep cleaning. But what touched me the most were two things: 1) Dr. Wong was the only dentist in my experiences so far who took his time to provide explanations and education re: the scans of my teeth, gum, and bones; 2) he told me that he chose dentistry over primary care because he could spend more time with his patients and build relationships with them. Take away: “hmm now I know these reviews are legit” 😀 Ohhh and I felt very safe going there during COVID. They did above and beyond to practice precautions and protect everyone in there.
