Desert Dentistry is far and away the most well organized and comfortable dentists office I have ever been in. My wife referred me after a bad experience with my previous dentist, and I booked an appointment. After arriving, I was given a tour of the office and the sterilization areas (important for me, though they didn’t know that at the time). I was seated in a single patient suite, which was a nice change of pace. After speaking with the hygienist, I spoke with the doctor who was very understanding and knowledgeable with an excellent demeanor. In all, it was the most comfortable I have ever felt at a dentist office. I would recommend to anyone who asks.

The staff, dental assistants and dentists are wonderful, friendly, and professional!! I had to bring my newborn baby with me due to schedules. During my exam she got a little fussy. The front office staff jumped at the chance to watch her without any question, concern, or negativity. They were amazing and took her in the front with them with such ease (of course, they asked me first and, of course, they’re not a babysitting staff); they were so kind and supportive that I didn’t have any concern. I was/am very grateful to their staff for helping me make it through an appointment without having a new-mom breakdown. In addition to that experience, they were great on their dental work. They explained the purpose of each routine or examination, as well as what the result or review meant. They took their time to explain everything thoroughly and be sure I understood. I can’t recommend this place enough!

This has been my dentist now for the last 12 years or so and I have even referred some friends and they liked it too. It’s easy to beta appointment, I’ve had together couple of fillings and I’m a complete wimp for dental stuff and they were always patient and sweet. I won’t let anyone but Dr Mattern work on my teeth.

I have been going to Desert Dentistry for years and will never go anywhere else. They have always taken great care of me. I go in for cleanings every 6 months and it is always a pleasant experience. They remember my name every time I go in and its not just because I have an appointment at that time. Twice I have walked in with someone else at the same time and they remembered both our names separately. I truly believe this company cares deeply for their customers. A few years ago I had a tooth ache while in Payson and had to go to the office up there. They got me in right away (on a friday) and got me all fixed up. They had to stay late and wait for me and if it did bother them I would not have had a clue because they were professional and patient the whole time. They are very competitive with their pricing too. I have referred friends to them that got estimates from other companies and Desert Dentistry more than beat their competitors. Its nice not to pay an arm and leg for stuff insurance won’t cover. Thank you so much Desert Dentistry for everything you do! Myself and my family appreciates you!

Dr. Mattern was available for a weekend emergency repair of my front teeth when the crowns that another dentist placed came loose after only six months. The owners and staff are extremely pleasant, helpful, patient, and compassionate. Desert Dentistry made bearable a very stressful and inconvenient situation, resolved the issue, and even followed up the next day to ensure that all was well. I had issues with insurance coverage and Alysia went above and beyond to fix this problem for me. In the chair, each assistant and the hygienist were great! Literally every person on the staff is awesome. They take you on a tour of the facility the first time you are there, which I didn’t really understand but whatever. They use walkie-talkies and ear pieces to communicate so you don’t end up waiting around. They are HUGE on positive reinforcement, “oh I’m so proud of you” or “you’re doing good”. The have new tech and utilities thAt make procedures much easier. And they are totally informative with everything they do. AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME.

I had to cancel my Monday appointment and I had lost track of time so I had to leave a voice mail on the general voice mail box the Friday evening before. Approximately an hour before my scheduled Monday appointment I get a phone call to confirm the cancellation and the opportunity to reschedule. I wasn’t ready to schedule, but I promised the office I would call by end of day if not next day. The next day I called and thought it would be difficult to schedule two same-day appointments for the hygienist my partner and I see regularly. I got in that afternoon! The staff took both of us back at the same time. One of us was seen by the hygienist while the other took x-rays and met with the doctor. It’s multitasking and great service that I truly appreciate when it comes to a dentist office when dealing with somewhat high maintenance clients like ourselves. Desert Dentistry’s staff really shines and provides exceptional service – I am looking forward to my next visit 6 months from now!

I was about thirty minutes early for my appointment. I didn’t have anywhere to go so I decided that I would wait in the waiting room. However, I was greeted right away by the receptionist who offered me a water and a guided tour of the facility. Pretty impressed. All the staff was friendly. I had my X-rays done and my teeth cleaned. No cavities!! I was upset that I forgot my lip balm, because previous cleanings, I would open my mouth and tear my lip open because it would be dry, but guess what?? They had lip balm for me! Really convenient and flavorful too, like pineapple, or the clear lifesavers! They also gave me a goodie bag on my way out. I was pretty happy with my experience and I can’t wait to be back in 6 months. Haha.

I phoned Desert Dentistry on a Friday because I was in serious pain. The person who answered the phone was warm and she said they could see me that very day. When I arrived, I encountered a dentist’s office like none I’d seen before; the place is like a spa. Gentle music plays in the background, and a modern aesthetic lends to the soothing atmosphere. I met with Dr. T, and he impressed me as being competent, honest, and direct. My previous dentist seemed always to look for the most expensive procedures, but Dr. T took some time to rule out a simple filling before concluding that a root canal was necessary (no kidding, he seemed to genuinely hope for the filling and was disappointed that it would be more involved/expensive). Dr T was willing to do the root canal that day, but they were very busy, so I opted to schedule the root canal for the following week. The procedure itself went really well (I mean, it’s still a root canal and all); Dr. T and his assistant worked like a team, and I was out after 30 or 45 minutes. Later the next week Dr. T and Johnny prepped for the crown and set me up with a temporary; I’m currently waiting for delivery of the permanent (it takes two weeks, which is fine). Johnny’s temporary crown is very comfortable; he took a lot of time to make it just right, and he clearly took pride in his work. I have other dental work that needs to be done, and I’ll be returning to Desert Dentistry and Dr. T. for the remainder of it. I’ll ad that the office staff is friendly and capable!

It was a wonderful experience and I never thought I would say that about a dentist. Dr. Mattern is a most compassionate and caring person. I have been “hurt” by many dentists through the years and my visit to his office for a filling was a pleasant one…never imagined it could be such a positive experience. This is definitely the only dental office I will be visiting for any reason. I wish I had found him years ago as I would have avoided so much anxiety and pain. My husband, son and I have been going to Desert Dentistry for years. My husband, a couple of years ago had a lot of teeth extracted at the same time. The Staff was Awesome! They made sure he was comfortable and feeling good before and after the procedure. This was something very nerve racking for my husband but he felt good about the procedure because of the care and professionalism everyone showed, from the front desk all the way to the doctor’s, assistants and dental hygienist. When not working hard to perfect smiles in the Phoenix area, Dr. Mattern enjoys golf, travel and spending time with his wife, Sharon and four children.
