I have gone to Dr. Applegate since she took over the practice of Dr. Sommer, and have been completely satisfied with the excellent work. From routine cleanings and checkups, to fillings and crowns, she and her staff have been extremely competent, friendly, courteous and efficient. I really can’t think of how she and her team could improve the quality of service they consistently provide. The facilities and service are outstanding, yet she provides good value, takes time to explain procedures, along with the pros and cons of options. The dental hygenists and assistants who work with her are also expert and friendly. I have no reservations about recommending Dr. Applegate.

I have been to many dentists. Dr. Dianne Applegate and her staff are wonderful. From the front desk staff, hygienists to Dr. Applegate they really make you feel welcome and try and get to know you. Dianne Applegate has been the most professional dentist I have ever had. I had a fear of my previous dentist until meeting Dr. Applegate. I have never had the quality of work that she provided. Extremely caring with the hands of an angel. Her touch was soft and flawless. You would not know when she was in your mouth. I’ve been a very satisfied patient of this practice for more than 25 years and was a little nervous when I heard Dr. Applegate was taking over a few years ago. Not to worry! From the warm, friendly and helpful front office staff, to the adept and professional technicians and Dr. Applegate’s gentle and proficient dentistry, I have been nothing but pleased with the care I’ve received. I broke a tooth late yesterday and they were able to work me in today for a full crown preparation and treat me with a temporary crown with which to go home. Now that is some fast and full service!

I moved to Portland, OR in 2001 and was referred to Dr. Sommers, DDS at that time. He has since retired and Dianne Applegate, DDS took over his practice. I have to admit I was a bit worried at first since I liked Dr. Sommers and his staff so well. However, it has been a couple of years now, and I am just as happy with Dr. Dianne Applegate and her staff. My hygenist is very gentle and I actually enjoy getting my teeth cleaned. Dr. Applegate is very friendly and also very gentle. I had to have some periodontal work done and their office referred me to a periodontist that is wonderful too. I never have to wait once I arrive, the office is very clean and it has always been a wonderful experience. I do not have dental insuarance and they have always been very accomodating as far as working with me to pay for my services. They are awsome!!!!!!!

I have been going to Dr. Applegate’s office since she took over the practice several years ago. When I heard my old dentist was retiring I was upset, but Dr. Applegate quickly won me over. Like most people I hate going to the dentist, but her office understood my fears and helped put me at ease. I had to have a cavity filled and was terrified, Dr. Applegate and her staff were patient, kind and considerate. I recently had a cleaning and the hygienist was great. She did a thorough job cleaning my teeth, I had a lot of plaque build up and she worked hard to get it all off. I did not feel rushed through the appointment like I have felt at other dentists. Great doctor, great staff, great location in SE Portland. I highly recommend this practice.

They’ll even text a reminder about your upcoming appointment which is so convenient compared with taking a call or listening to a voicemail message. Since I was 5 years old I’ve been a client at a great dentist. There has been a few different owners since then but it hasn’t changed their advantage on caring for their clients. They are very organized and keep all files updated with their clients and are always there to help to make sure your teeth are very healthy! Even though it’s a little bit of a drive for me to get to my dentist I still do it because they make it worth it. Having clean teeth is a nice feeling and they really do an excellent job, I highly recommend anyone that cares for their teeth as much as I do to go there. Dianne Applegate is the special hygienist now and she’s great at doing her job making sure your teeth are in good condition and your happy when you walk out. I think Dr. Applegate is great. When I first moved here, I went to a dentist near where I live and she wanted to put a cap or partial cap on practically every tooth with a filling and do a lot of cosmetic work and gave me an estimate of THOUSANDS. My insurance doesn’t cover dental, and I need to focus on the care of my teeth first, especially preventive care. My new doctor said her husband was going to a great, affordable dentist, and she recommended the dentist who had the practice before Dr. Applegate. He was affordable, kept an eye on things that might become a problem, fixed them before they DID become a problem, plus he was great with emergenices. Dr. Applegate took over his practice years ago, and seems to have the same philosphy. I’ve been going to her now for years and like her a lot. The hygienists are great too, as well as the people in the front office — they work with me to make things as affordable as possible. They also help me with the appearance of my teeth, but it’s when I ask.

Best dentist and staff ever!!!! These women are kind, gentle, laid back and professional. Dr. Applegate saved me thousands of dollars when I went to her for a second opinion. I was told I needed a root canal and instead Dianne saved my tooth and did it without pain. She also saved me from an extremely costly and painful “deep cleaning” procedure the hack I saw before her insisted I have done which she said was unnecessary. This has by far been my best dental experience, and I would recommend Dr. Applegate and her staff to anyone!

When our previous dentist retired and Dr. Applegate took over, we were pleased to receive the same great, professional service we had received in the past. Dr. Applegate is great and so is her crew of dental professionals. I went in to have my cleaning and due to circumstance sbeyond my control, had my 6 and 7-year-olds with me. They offered to give them their cleanings too, despite having no appointment. The were so great. They explained why it was so important to floss, and now my 6-year-old asks me to floss his teeth. My 7-year-old finally spends more than 2.2 seconds on his teeth, watching to make sure his 2-minute timer runs out before stopping. Pure magic! Thank you! Beth.

My son and I are lucky, but in the past 18 years we have only had one cavity between us. She and her staff have great chair side manor and state of the art technology. I would recommend Dr Applegate for families: the kids will love the treasures after their appointment and will be excited to return. After having avoided any sort of dental care for almost two years I decided that it was time to get my teeth looked at and cleaned. I had heard a very positive review of Dr Applegates practice from my father who had his wisdom teeth removed here. I was not disappointed. The location is nice, and easy to find. The building is clearly marked, but I did miss the parking in the back. I left a voicemail to make an appointment and they called me back in a very timely fashion. The front desk is polite and the ambient is very relaxed, professional and comfortable. At no point through my appointment did I feel uncomfortable, the entire process made me feel welcome and at ease. My teeth are noticeably cleaner and I was able to get some good advice on products for oral care. I highly recommend going to see Dr Applegate, she and her staff are very friendly, warm, knowledgeable and they make the drudgery and terror of going to a dentist a much more enjoyable experience. Our services are designed to maintain healthy teeth, improve overall oral wellness and provide beautiful smiles. Established in 2009. After many years of caring for his community, Dr. Ronald Sommer retired and chose Dr. Dianne Applegate to take great care of of his patients. Dr. Dianne Applegate is a 1987 graduate of Loma Linda University Dental School. She was awarded the Woman in Dentistry Award in 1987 for her Academic accomplishments, contributions to Student Leadership, participation in Missionary services, and Dental Externship with the US Coast Guard. Dr. Applegate has continued to complete extensive continuing education in all aspects of general, cosmetic, and implant dentistry. An avid traveler, she has visited many countries around the world. She adopted two children from China and has participated in several Missionary trips to Mexico, providing much needed dental care to the people there. Dr. Applegate has continued to be active in community leadership and volunteer organizations throughout her career. Recently she’s been providing free dental services through Multnomah County’s “Tooth Taxi” program for school-age children. Dr. Applegate lives in Northeast Portland with her two daughters. The oldest graduated from the University of San Francisco with a B.A. in Design; the youngest attends the University of Oregon. Dr.Applegate and her family enjoy participating in school events, mountain biking, sailing, swimming, skiing, hiking, and traveling.
