Dr. Klien (Orthodontist) has an office in Lake Oswego and Tualatin. So happy with Dr.Klien and his staff. Patient, caring, gentle, thorough, experienced and honest. All my kids will eventually be patients. I highly recommend him! He listens and gives you all the options and allows you to make the decision on what YOU feel is the best treatment for your child.  When we first came to Dr. Klien I had just seen an orthodontist that used fear tactics to persuade me to get braces for my then 10 year old.  Luckily we found Dr. Klien who discussed the pros and cons of starting braces early.  He was honest and I immediately trusted his knowledge and experience.  Dr. Klien also teaches at OHSU.  He is easy to talk to, down to earth and the kids love him.  I love his staff too.  Great folks!

Excellent and honest doctor! Took my child to see him for consultation on braces and because part of his gum is receding because of his cross bite. He recommended not doing braces but trying something more conservative to start. He said if I really wanted my son to have braces he would recommend someone else because he wasn’t the guy that was just going to take my money. He said down the road he will need them but we could do other things now to help rather than braces now and braces later. Needless to say we went the conservative route and had a couple teeth pulled by our dentist and in 6 weeks his bite has improved dramatically!  Stand up guy and all his staff is very nice. Haven’t had to wait either!

Dr Klein and his whole staff are warm and welcoming. His work with both of my kids has been outstanding and he is very good about explaining options and being honest with parents about procedures that may or may not be needed.

A WORD FROM YOUR DOCTOR

Dr. Klein was born and raised in Oregon and attended Lake Oswego public schools, graduating from Lakeridge High School in 1974. He attended college at the University of the Pacific, earned his D.D.S. from Northwestern University, and his Certificate of Orthodontics and M.S.D. from University of Washington. Dr. Doug's personal interests include spending time with his wife, Debbie and their three daughters. He loves all outdoor activities, especially bicycling, fly fishing, and snow skiing. Dr. Doug likes tinkering with vintage automobiles and enjoys an occasional vintage car race. He also enjoys photography and traveling. Dr. Paul Klein began the practice in 1954. In 1969, while Doug was still in junior high, Dr. Paul Klein and another local orthodontist invented AlastiK ligature ties. These are small colored elastics used to attach orthodontic arch wires to each brace. This was a simple, ingenious step in the evolution of modern orthodontics and has had a huge impact worldwide. Anywhere you happen to be traveling in the world, if you see someone with braces and colored rubber bands, you are seeing the end result of an idea that originated in our office. While growing up, Dr. Doug spent summers and after school hours working in the office doing pretty much everything from janitorial duties to assisting with patients. Along the way, it seemed clear to him that he would follow in his father's footsteps in the profession of orthodontics. In 1983, Dr. Doug joined his father in the Lake Oswego office where they enjoyed working side-by-side for 15 years until Dr. Paul retired in 1998. Dr Doug also opened an office in Tualatin in 1983. Klein Orthodontics has been involved in orthodontic treatment longer than any other family run office in the State of Oregon.
