Absolutely love Dr. Dung and his team, very knowledgeable, friendly and attentive to my children and us as parents. One of my twins has tongue thrust and her jaw is lower, thus causing a gap on her front teeth. Dr. Dung didn’t rush to put on the braces for my twin, instead he taught her how to exercise her tongue and makes her wear braces to correct the root of the problem first. Very appreciative of Dr. Dung and everyone in his office.

David Dung’s office is located in the Pan Am building, but they do not validate for parking inside the pan am parking structure!!! Instead, park in the same parking lot as Blockbuster. On the left of Blockbuster, there are five numbered stalls (numbered 1-5, duh) where you can park for free. With a local friendly personality, Dr. Dung is so personable and nice, but you can tell he’s a professional who knows what he’s doing. The office is clean, homely, and comfortable. Don’t expect shiny tile flooring or professional paintings on the wall. I come to Dr. Dung for braces. I was offered the option between traditional metal or ceramic braces. I chose the ceramic ones (the tiles on your teeth are clear, and if you choose clear rubberbands, then your braces are much less noticeable). They cost more, but since I didn’t get started until I was 18, I was pretty self conscious and it was important to me to not have a mouth full of metal. Upon starting the procedure, Dr. Dung takes wax molds of your teeth as well as many pictures. I’ve had my braces for over a year now, and I can’t believe how different my teeth look! If you’re thinking of braces, no matter how old, try asking your dentist to write you a referral for a free consultation. I thought I would never get used to the idea of getting braces and that I’d look so horrible with them, but a year has passed by so quickly and I’m so happy knowing my results will last for a lifetime.

Wouldn’t trust my teeth with any other orthodontist. I got braces when I was in middle school, and instead of just slapping em on a kid and sending him on his way, Dr. Dung explained to me the process and objectives of the procedures. Over the next couple years, I’d go in and actually enjoy the appointments. There was very little pain or discomfort, and the staff is extremely welcoming. My daughter has been a patient of Dr Dung’s for the past three years. She just got her braces off last week (after 22 months) and we couldn’t be happier with the process and results! His office staff are great – professional and friendly. They are understanding with the busy schedules most families have these days. They also have an office in Aiea so we could always find a day and time that worked for us. They are very clear about the payment and options available, too. Dr Dung is very good at patient care. He does not pressure potential patients to agree to a certain time frame or payment plan (a few of my friends have visited his office for a consultation and they were impressed with his knowledge and professional and friendly demeanor. Other orthodontists they had visited pressured them to sign up and start a payment plan ASAP which made them uncomfortable. Three of them have already decided to join Dr. Dung’s practice). The entire office is very good with children, understanding of their limitations (as children) but not treating them like babies – hence my daughter felt part of the process. She wasn’t too crazy about having braces 😉 but we all agree the end result was worth it ! If you are looking for an orthodontist, make an appointment with Dr Dung’s office and see if it is a good fit 😉

We are traveling from the mainland and our daughter had some ortho work on her braces 2 weeks before our vacation started. Long story…to the short version, her teeth shifted (as they were supposed to) but it caused the upper left wiring (back molars) to poke out and was tearing up the inside of her cheek.We still have a week here and a person can only live on smoothies for so long. I did a google to find an ortho near by (plus with already great reviews) and we found Dr. David Dung. I called, they were very nice and willing to see her right away. So off we went and Dr. Dung redid her wiring and put new bands and then trimmed the jagged end. He even came out to talk with me directly and in the end, wished us well for the rest of our vacation. Dr. Dung has treated two of my children as well as myself. My daughter went with traditional braces, and a couple of years later, my son and I decided to try Invisalign. When treatment began, he gave each of us new Braun electric toothbrushes, with a wireless monitor and orthodontic heads. He explained that it was important to keep teeth as clean as possible so that there wouldn’t be stains or other residue on our tooth enamel when he removed brackets or attachments at the end of treatment. My son’s Invisalign treatment went well, but my teeth wouldn’t align quite right. As it turns out, Invisalign sometimes does not work out, which was a risk that Dr. Dung mentioned at the outset. Regardless, he decided to re-treat me with clear ceramic braces at no additional cost. It worked out well and after they were installed, I realized and felt that they were just as inconspicuous as Invisalign. If I had to do it over again, I would have just gone this route from the beginning for my son and myself. In these and other ways, it became clear that Dr. Dung’s goal was to make sure his patients are happy and satisfied with his care. Throughout our time there, his staff also reflected the same values, and were enjoyable to talk with as well. I’m very happy with our results, and glad that I chose Dr. Dung for our orthodontic care.
