I had a crown fall of, and was scared to get it repaired due to COVID, but had no choice. I got an appointment, the day after I called the office. Dr. Langley and staff took every safety precaution, wearing masks and shields, and got me in and out of the office as quickly as possible. Everyone who works there are so kind and very professional.

I haven’t been to the dentist since before Covid pandemic caused everything to shut down and just got back to a cleaning and inspection of my mouth. In the meantime staff changed a little. I’ve been looking for a new dentist close to home in Capitol Hill and friends referred me to Langley Bowers, DDS when I lost a crown. They were fantastic. As a long-standing family practice, it’s a completely different feel from big box dentists. Dr. Langley Bowers came into his office at 8:30 PM to save my front teeth after a terrible accident in which I face planted into asphalt at high speed. Without his skill and expertise and compassion, I would be missing several front teeth. I am so very grateful to him. By far the best dentist and practice I’ve ever attended. The staff is friendly, accommodating, efficient and very knowledgeable. Larry’s never pressured us into medically unnecessary procedures and provides excellent referrals on short notice. I’ve only just met Langley, and not for anything beyond a routine cleaning, but I can still say that he inherited Larry’s excellent bedside manner. You never feel talked down to and you leave the practice (and irrelevantly, it’s a beautiful practice) with a smile you’re not afraid to shine at the world.

I have been looking for a good and trustworthy dentist since I moved to DC 5 years ago and I finally found it! The cleaning was the best I’ve had in a long, long time and Dr. Langley spent a lot of time examining me and suggesting treatment. The last dentist I went to suggested about $10,000 of procedures and I was aghast. Not Dr. Langley. And the office space is immaculate, the Covid prevention processes extensive, and the office art fun.

Dr, Bowers office called when they had a late cancellation, and so I had a cleaning and examination. The office procedures for everyone’s care are employed, both commonsense and the PPE that the technician (Ms. Keeton) wore to do my cleaning. Best dentist ever! I have been going to Doctor Bowers for years (12 or more) and I really appreciate how amazing everyone is, my hygienist Kanene especially. I love the office vibe which feels far more comfortable than your tradition “dentists office” and how kind everyone is. Going to the dentist can be no fun but these guys are 1000% best at everything including making you feel comfortable and valued as a patient. I found Dr. Bowers when I was in an emergency situation (turned out I needed a root canal) and got a very nice personal recommendation from someone in my ecowomen listserv. He was with me through that, coached me through finally getting my wisdom teeth extracted, and all in all just makes me good with personalized care and without trying to constantly ‘upsell’ me on cosmetic procedures. I went to Dr. Bowers for cosmetic dentistry. Dr. Bowers came up with a great plan within my budget and executed it perfectly. I am thrilled with how everything turned out. He answered all of my questions, explained the different options and gave a thoughtful recommendation. He always follows up via email and is very responsive. It’s very important to him that his patients are happy so he was constantly offering to tweak things to make sure I was satisfied. Even my periodontist was impressed with his work. The whole office especially his assistant Tracey is the best. I will recommend him to all of my family & friends!

I’ve been a customer of Larry’s nearly 30 years. I was terrified about doctors and took lousy care of my teeth when I was young. That caught up with me and I luckily found Larry. Decades and lots of dental work later, Larry has has helped me get over my fear of doctors with incredibly great care. Near Christmas several years ago, I was in New York and suddenly had a bad tooth ache. I called and the office was already going on holiday. Larry told me he would see me personally in the morning. I had decay under a crown and Larry took care of me personally. With no assistant because I needed it. Even though he was already on vacation. If there were 10 stars available, I’d give them to him.

I LOVE going to the dentist! Yep, hard to believe coming from someone who as a girl hid and cried and scratched on dental day. Upon entering the office in a charming row house on Capitol Hill one is greeted by delightful jazz, original art, and smiling faces! The entire upbeat staff is terrific! Lie back in your chair and savor the hand painted ceiling art, chat with the happy staff and relax! Rest assured that when Larry Bowers walks in you are in really good “hands”! For ten years I enjoyed their services and that was ten years ago! Yes, I left DC but do return for cleanings and check ups. If there should ever be any tooth issue I would be there in a heartbeat! On those rare occasions when I can’t get to DC and I step into another dental office for cleaning, never as good as at 711 E. Capitol, EVERY single person who has looked into my mouth expresses awe at the amazing work thus confirming what I already knew about the Bowers care. They are the BEST!

My appointment was for my biannual cleaning. My cleaning was a pleasure- great conversation – yes I was able to talk and converse between my scaling. I was given tips on using my electric toothbrush that I did not know and had not been shown in the past. I will start using the methods right away. My visits are always right on time – I have never waited beyond 2 to 3 minutes – for the room to be thoroughly cleaned in between clients. The office is taking all COVID precautions and I felt extremely comfortable during my visit. I requested information about some cosmetic work and was given a referral for Orthodontics. I am looking forward to my next visit with my hygienist.

My experience at Dr. Bowers office was amazing as it always is. I got there around 7 mins past my appointment time, the receptionist who is always very friendly gave me a mask since I had forgotten mine in the car. I waited no more than 3 mins when Dr. Bowers called me in and took care of my problem within 15 mins at the most and I was out of there, AND to no avail didn’t charge me which was kind as I haven’t been working and just started a new job. So I can only say great things about their office, high quality dentistry with high technology equipment which makes the service quicker and and at a high level of dental service delivery which allows the staff to provide the highest of quality dental care and always with a friendly face. One of the dental assistants Tracy is very friendly and always makes you feel welcomed and comfortable which means alot to me. 10 stars no questions asked. Dr. Bowers is the absolute best! I just moved to DC and had the strangest dental SOS–a small piece of apple caught in between my tooth and my gum. After googling the best dentists on Capitol Hill, I walked into his office–a very nice building on a row of houses straight down the front entrance of the Capitol building–and was greeted by his excellent staff. I can’t tell which was first that struck me: the beautiful decor of the office or Jess’s sweet-smiling demeanor. Promptly at 8, I sat down with Bowers himself and received thorough and comprehensive analysis of my concerns and past history. Examining my teeth and X-rays, he never talked down to me, but kept conversation to the point and made sure I understood each subsequent aspect of treatment. Tracy, his assistant, eased my nerves with her chummy conversation; to be fair, every person on the staff seemed nice, and the ceiling paintings and jazz soundtrack also did their part to keep anxiety at bay. Cindy cleaned me teeth to the point that I wasn’t embarrassed to smile in the mirror again. And then you leave with a bagful of party favors?Classy. Thanks y’all!

I unfortunately did not visit Dr. Bowers but I give him and his office five stars for transparency. I have TMJ and while Dr. Bowers is capable of evaluating, his office admitted he is not a specialist. I set-up an appointment and his office called me back saying they’d be happy to meet but would recommend I go to a specialist instead. They provided me with that doctor’s information. It saved me time and money not having to visit Dr. Bowers. Unlike other doctors I’ve been to who advertise themselves as specialists (Arlington Dental Excellence, for example) and make a referral to someone else, Dr. Bowers did not do that. Five stars.

As other reviews mentioned, you do pay upfront after each visit, but they submit the paperwork to insurance for you, and reimbursement has always been very fast.
