Dr. Tate was very accommodating; he was able to schedule an appointment the same day I called regarding some tooth pain I was having. After an X-ray determined there was no infection he proceeded to investigate the source of the difficulty and after a few minor touches with the drill (totally pain free) I was able to leave within 45 minutes. Everyone in the office is extremely helpful and most professional.

What ever happened to the “Golden Rule”? I am here to tell you that it is alive and well at Kirkwood Family Dental. I have always been brought up to treat people the way you would want to be treated. (not to have to wait 2 months to get a tooth pulled which is infected). My situation was rather perplexing and Dr. Stahle suggested I go down and talk to the people at Kirkwood Family Dental (which happened to be in the same building). The staff was very friendly and very accommodating since I was a “walk-in” but they never turned me away. I got in to see the dentist in less than an hour! Talk about a great feeling! Once in the chair it was like a knew Dr. Tate all my life. The experience was very exceptional. Even though I have maxed out my dental insurance, the staff went the extra mile to check and see if I could get a discount, and I did! Wow what fast, professional, caring and great service I received. I have found an new home for all my dental needs, even though I live 75 miles away. I am very willing to travel these extra miles to go to a dentist who believes in the that forgotten “Golden Rule”. Kudos to all in your office. What a great group of people! Absolutely love Dr. Tate and his staff! This was my first visit and I was blown away with how friendly and helpful everyone was. Dr. Tate and his staff were very thorough, detailed and genuine. I’ve been going to the same dentist for over 20 years; however after visiting Kirkwood Family Denistry Dr. Tate will be my new dentist! I highly recommend his services!

Today was my second visit to Dr. Tate. His staff is so attentive and cheerful and I do believe he has the best dental assistant working for him in the St. Louis area…she knows what he wants and needs before he does! I had two crowns removed as the tooth was decaying beneath the crown and would you believe I almost dozed off in the chair while they were working?!? They are very attuned to patient comfort and very attentive to the detail in their work. Highly recommended.

I hadn’t been to the dentist in nearly 10 years, so I was terrified that I had a bunch of horrid cavities and all my teeth would need to be removed. My teeth went south with my last pregnancy even though I did everything I was supposed to do (that girl sucked the life out of me!). I was hesitant to go to the dentist at all, but I finally had dental insurance and I didn’t want to pay for something and not use it. I called around, and all the offices I spoke to couldn’t get me in for a simple cleaning/checkup for over three months. I knew I’d chicken-out by then, so I called around and came across Dr. Tate’s office. They could see me within the week. I was sold. I was very nervous, but the staff at Dr. Tate’s office is unbelievably caring and I honestly couldn’t ask for anything more. I did need a couple small filling, but nothing major. They worked with me to make sure I was comfortable and relaxed. I also needed my last two wisdom teeth removed. Let me tell you – this was a huge deal for me. They’d given me excruciating crying-and-won’t-get-out-of-bed pain for an entire year and then finally died or something because the pain had stopped. Dr. Tate said they’d be easy, but being the skeptical person I am, I refused. Dr. Tate’s office happily referred me to an oral surgeon and I put it off, terrified like my “Piglet” self. I went back in 6 months later for a cleaning and Dr. Tate told me again that they were simple extractions and he could do them. I caved, knowing I needed to buck-up and be the 26 year old grown-butt woman I am. So I went ahead and had Dr. Tate pull them out. I got in at 11:30. I was walking out, paid and everything, by noon. And that’s another thing I absolutely love about his office – we have never had to wait for more than five minutes for our appointments. He also is a very kid-friendly office. I cannot speak highly enough of Dr. Tate’s office. I will be sad when we move, but I may just have to schedule trips to see family around dental cleanings… yes I will miss Dr. Tate’s office that much. Plus, what is better than a dentist with a remarkable bedside manner, who sings while he works? Dr. Tate truly puts “whistle while you work” into action. I love his office so much that I grab business cards every time I’m in there and pin them on community bulletin boards and leave them on the break room tables at work.

What can I say? My kids now like to go to see the Dentist. When you have young ones like I do, ages 5 & 8; that’s pretty important. Dr. Tate is known as the painless dentist. At first I didn’t believe it, but when my daughter needed a filling she didn’t even know she got an injection! And it’s not just my kids, my husband even likes Dr. Tate- he had a chipped tooth in the front of his mouth that has been there since he was a kid- now he looks like Brad Pitt!! Thanks, Dr. Tate and your staff – you all are great!

Dr. Tate is hands down The Best Dentist, you could ever have! I went there for almost 15 years! I had a bad experience with a dentist who told me I had 14 cavities after never having any. When he (the bad dentist) worked on the first side with 3 or 4 “supposed” cavities, they told me one price when I scheduled the appt- and after he worked on me they told me $200 more than the original $150 was due?!?! A friend referred me to Dr. Tate and he only saw two cavities that needed attention by his standards. Not 8+ as the other Dr was trying to drill into. Everyone is SO nice! I have seen the same people working there most of my time there, so he must treat his workers as well as his patients! Oh! And the previous hygienist (at the bad dentist office) had chipped one of my front teeth in the spot where they always scrape a little harder, (I think we all have that one spot we know will be sore cause it’s just where the plaque tends to gather), and the shady older dentist only offered me a $3000 veneer where most of my real tooth would be sawed off!!!! I don’t have that kind of money, and even if I did I would never want to saw off a perfectly good tooth! Dr. Tate offered without me telling him about it, “Hey there’s a small chip in that bottom front tooth. You want me to buff it down a little to look better?” It’s not perfect up real close, but to the naked eye from a smiles distance it looks good as new!!! That made me feel sooo much better about myself! He is honest and fair even if you don’t have insurance. I have sent a few people to him that needed emergency work and had never gone to him before, and he saw them right away. One person didn’t have insurance but Dr. Tate’s office was very eager to help him in every way they could. His wife Sharon is as pleasant as can be- she makes paying $$$ pleasant:) And they were always very flexible with busy schedules. AND his office is decorated with his children and grandchildren’s artwork framed on the walls. Which I personally always thought was very delightful! The artwork was more entertaining than some dull offices “professional” art decor. AND!!!!! He whistles and sings while he works on you!!!! He’s not half bad:) His voice reminds me of my grandpas choir voice. He is always in a pleasant mood and very inviting! I only left when my insurance changed just recently. Money is tight so, I tried a new dentist. It was a nightmare!!!!! I am currently getting a list of dentists from my insurance company and his office staff offered to have him personally approve a few dentists for me. Which I thought was very sweet- above and beyond! I called them stressed about my situation, (still a bit shook up from the current nightmare dentist), and Tania offered to help me find another dentist! She was very caring and willing to help- even if I will not be seeing them! These are good people! A diamond in the rough of the dentistry world!!!

I never thought I could be pleased with a dentist visit, but stranger things have happened… If you use yelp, then you will save yourself from a lot of wasted time and disappointment, with that said, I found my dentist on yelp and could not be happier! I was able to fill out my new patient work from their website, which saved me time. I don’t think I waited a whole minute before they called my name. Once I was in the chair, they started right away…..There is a lot to be said for a doctor’s office that you do not have to wait…at all! I am not sure how they do it, but it was the most comfortable dentist experience ever; my mouth/lips did not feel weird after wards, because they were so gentle….more so than when I floss my own teeth! They explain everything they are doing, what they are looking for etc….although you are in and out in a timely manner, they do not rush. You get their full attention as if you were the only patient that day. I am actually looking forward to going back….

I was very impressed and completely satisfied with Dr. Tate and his office. The staff, Tonya and Adam, were warm and welcoming. Dr. Tate examined my teeth and gums thoroughly and explained clearly where there were problem spots and what I should do to combat them. I have no hesitation in recommending him and his office to others.

Shirley B. from Saint Louis, MO (Source: Yelp)

Dr. Tate was wonderful, he spent a whole hour with me, explaining my options and I never felt like I was just a number, he made me feel like a family member, truly! First time with Dr. Tate and been and have spent thousands on my teeth for the perfect smile, and never felt happy with the results. I know Dr. Tate knowledge and expertise will be my final trip for my perfect smile.

Brea M. from Saint Louis, MO  (Source: Yelp)

You know you are going to a great dentist when you like your trip here as much as you liked your last massage. Dr. Tate and his staff are wonderful to work with. From the time you walk in until the time that you leave you will feel like a valued customer and be treated with care. As the last reviewer mentioned, he will definitely be humming a tune and have a magic trick or two to show you. This guy is definitely a people person and great at what he does. I have been there 3 times so far and never even feel the injections. I live in the city but the drive is more than worth it. I believe I have found a life long friend for my teeth.

Carling F. from Saint Louis, MO (Source: Yelp)

I am SO lucky I found Dr. Tate. I just moved to the area, so finding a new dentist is always a challenge. Everyone I came into contact with was welcoming and helpful. No one tried to con me into unnecessary dental work, and when I asked about teeth whitening, they gave me straight forward information and didn’t try to put on the hard-sell. I’m a pretty anxious person, and Dr. Tate’s office put me right at ease. I’m so glad I’ve found my new dentist!

Ron G. from Saint Louis, MO (Source: Yelp)

Incredible first time experience.   Major complication with son’s dental condition  that could not be solved by two other respected providers.  Results would have caused severe speech problems for at least a month, if not two or three.   As last resort, we called local dentist and explained problem.  Dr. Tate made emergency appointment for son and saw him within two hours of the call.  One hour after that, the problem was solved and my son’s situation was resolved.  If it had been the work alone, this same review would have been written, but it gets better.  The doctor immediately created a friendship with my son by joking with him.  This established a much more relaxed and trusting visit.  As most other reviewers have stated, here is a man who enjoys his job and it shows in every visit.  Highly recommended on both a personality and effectiveness scale.  Thanks, Dr. Tate!

awesome, awesome, awesome. as good as it gets. dr tate and staff actually make going to the dentist a pretty good experience!!! they schedule patients so that you aren’t waiting forever to be seen and best of all, you can tell that dr. tate just wants you to have the best smile that you can and healthiest mouth possible. he doesnt suggest needless procedures just for billing purposes. LOVE THIS DENTIST!!!!

Kate B. from St Louis, MO (Source: Yelp)

I have always dreaded going to the dentist. It has always been a painful and uncomfortable experience. I recently visited Dr. Tate’s office and to my relief it was a great experience. It was completely pain free and I was totally at ease throughout the entire visit. I would recommend this office to anyone and everyone! Thank you Dr. Tate for taking away my fears and showing me that the dentist isn’t a scary place!

Howie F. from St Louis, MO (Source: Yelp)

Is anyone a fan of going to the dentist? I think my dentist is the only one who may enjoy it and I mean it because he loves his job! I know I loathe it, but Dr. Tate makes going to the dentist, well as good as it’s going to get. He prides himself on being pain-less and well he delivers. I’ve been to a lot of Dentists who shuffle in and look at your X-Rays and get out. I love paying all that money to just see the assistants. This guy loves his job, perhaps a little too much (especially for someone who has been doing dentistry for a long time)… He’s always singing and cracking jokes and in a good mood. He’s a freaking comedian. I was dating a girl a few years ago and she was telling me about her wacky dentist and how he sings and does magic…yep same guy. This office just opened and has all new equipment and has really nice attentive staff.

Jeri V. from Saint Louis, MO (Source: Yelp)

Dr Tate is very caring and kind. The shot for the anesthetic has always been painful in the past for me, but it was NOT painful at all with Dr Tate. He is very patient, explains what he is doing, and is concerned at all times that I was not experiencing any pain. Getting your teeth worked on is never really comfortable, but Dr Tate really does his best to make it pain free . I also like his sense of humor , he tells you funny stories which actually do make you feel more at ease. I also want to mention that his staff is very kind and friendly. Overall I am very happy with my visit and am so glad to have Dr Tate as my new dentist.

Kat V. from Chatsworth, CA (Source: Yelp)

On a previous visit, the staff detected that I had a dangerous but controllable condition. I am grateful that they found it. Had they not found it, I would have been in serious trouble. Thankfully, the condition is now being controlled and monitored by my general practitioner. I used to detest going to the dentist for fear of pain. But, Dr. Tate makes those fears go away. He is very caring & understanding in all aspects. His staff are equally kind and caring. I never have to wait long for my appointment. Sugar & loads of sugar are found nearby this office. Very tempting. There is more parking in back. Office is easy to get to.

Kate W. from Saint Louis, MO (Source: Yelp)

I have to confess that it had been WAY long since my last dentist appt, when I saw Dr. Tate. The same goes for my husband. We had been in that stage of our lives where we just couldn’t afford to go to the dentist. This year, we had to make it a priority. Dr. Tate is hilarious. I have never had such a great experience with a dentist. Who would EVER think someone would say they had a great experience at their dentist? I know I never expected to! I’ve always hated the dentist. My husband and I both come home with hilarious stories to tell each other when we go and we laugh and laugh and laugh. He is an absolute delight. We’ve already talked about how sad we will be when he retires, as Dr. Tate has definitely been a dentist for a few years. Besides his awesome personality, I have to say – I run my tongue over my filling all day – it’s so smooth!! So yes, in addition to being a pleasure to hang out with, he is a great dentist. Anyone that rated this dentist office with one star would have rated any other dentist with one star. Hey, guess what – dental work is expensive! I know, total shocker… it isn’t free! And Dr. Tate has to make a living, for goodness sake. You aren’t entitled to free dental work, you have to pay for it and it’s going to cost you. Welcome to the real world. When I couldn’t afford it the last few years of my life, I didn’t expect anyone to cut me any deals, I knew it was all on me. Also, your INSURANCE company decides how much you are going to pay – until then your dentist is just giving you a quote as to how much they THINK your insurance will cover. That’s not the dentist’s fault. Take some responsibility, people. P.S. added bonuses – zero wait time and pretty painless, other than a tiiiiiny bit of discomfort from the shot.

Sarah F. from Saint Louis, MO (Source: Yelp)

I had a lot of anxiety related to having to go to the dentist. My previous dentist had left me with several oral/dental issues, and I knew my teeth were bad. Dr. Tate was calm and explained everything that was going on clearly and efficiently. He was so friendly and you can tell he is genuinely concerned for his patients, and loves his job. I don’t think going to the dentist is ever something you really look forward to, but Dr. Tate makes it feel like going to see an old friend. He is the best dentist I’ve ever gone to.

Mandy M. from Saint Louis, MO (Source: Yelp)

We were searching for a dentist that was in-network for our insurance AND located in Kirkwood. I was so lucky to find the review for Dr. Tate on Yelp, which prompted me to make appointments right away due to the already good reviews. Dr. Tate is such a sweet grandpa-like man! Just like other reviews, he was humming a tune nearly the entire time, making funny comments and his staff genuinely also seemed to enjoy their work and were so very nice! The office is bright & fairly modern in the exam areas, and I really like that they have computers right there to show your x-rays right away. But sorry, no TVs like some of the other dentists in the area, but that’s OK with me. They do have music on speakers, though. The cleaning and exam were very thorough and I didn’t feel like the Dr. was rushing off to another patient – he took his time and talked to me and reviewed everything, making me feel like a valuable patient.
