My children (7 and 10) had a routine cleaning and check-up with Dr. Powell today. However, it was anything but routine. I was very impressed starting from the moment we walked through the door. The office staff was waiting for us as we entered and introduced themselves immediately to the children and myself. Then, we were quickly shown around the office, patient rooms, and digital X-ray machines. The children’s nerves were quickly calmed while they were getting comfortable with their surroundings and friendly staff. Asia gently took each of the children’s X-rays and photos, then Brian the dental hygienist took over and cleaned their teeth. Brian was very friendly and talkative to the children, he was gentle, yet cleaned their teeth very well. Brian was very knowledgable and insightful on remineralizing and achieving a healthy mouth naturally. Lastly, Dr. Powell came in and checked the children’s teeth and mouth, he was very nice and made the children comfortable. His exam was thorough and talked to us about different techniques and possible exercises the children can do for a healthier mouth overall and lasting into their future. They also believe that diet plays a big part in the health of the mouth as well as the body, this is the type of dentist we have been searching for. A like minded, holistic dentist who is wonderful with the children and the staff is top notch and very professional. What a great experience. Everyone is so nice and helpful. Brian, he is at the front desk, is just a young man, but so very professional and he goes out of his way to make the office special. He asked me several times if I wanted something to drink and if I was comfortable. Terry… she helps Dr. Powell during the procedures. She is fantastic. One of the nicest ladies ever. She’s always happy and her fun personality is contagious. I always look forward to seeing her there. Dr. Powell, where do I start??? He is amazing! He knows his stuff, and is so nice and humble. I had gone to 2 other places and decided not to do it there didn’t have a good vibe. I drove from Los Angeles to Palmdale as a referral. I am glad I made the right choice! State of the art equipment and staff were awesome. Dr powell is Amazing! I had no pain nor discomfort, he was smooth during the entire procedure. Very thorough with everything. He explained what he would do safe my tooth as opposed to getting a crown. They have Bose headphones and play music of your choice so awesome. I’ve been to Woodland Hills, West LA Stevenson Ranch and nothing Like Dr Powell office. They are super clean and equipment is state of the art. I am going back again to get more work done. i highly recommend Dr Powell!

I am absolutely terrified of the dentist. I will literally have SEVERE anxiety before my appointment. I cry uncontrollably during my entire exam. I suffer SEVERE anxiety over my teeth – my biggest fear is losing them because both my mom and dad had dentures in their 30’s. Sadly, I have experienced horrible times with my HMO dentist at Elite Dentist in Lancaster. They will tell you that you need treatment that you do not need and they will rudely push treatments on you for the money. Having tooth pain for some months, my daughter found Dr. Powell through a friend. My daughter insisted that I go to him for a check-up. Sadly, it turns out that Dr. Powell did not accept my HMO plan. Determined not to be treated by my HMO dentist, I paid cash for my x-ray, teeth cleaning, and my deep cleaning with Dr. Powell. Every dime I spent was well worth it. Unfortunately I can’t do my open enrollment until October but the day I get that open date, I will be changing my dentist to Dr. Powell. Until then, I have to have an abases done by my dentist at Elite Dental. They had no idea that I saw Dr. Powell prior to having to be forced to see them again for the abscess. My HMO dentist told me that I need four Root Canals done and a Deep Cleaning. When they told me this, I told them that I paid cash for a Deep Cleaning two weeks prior with Dr. Powell and that I would not need another one. The Dentist, after trying to push on me that I needed another one became very upset with me when I told him I did not want it. He began to treat me badly and was very rude towards me and the receptionist treated me the same way. I left their dental office feeling so upset and angry. I immediately closed up again and just felt so much fear of having to go back to them for the surgery on the abscess that I cancelled my appointment I made with them. I was angry that after paying Dr. Powell for my deep cleaning only two weeks prior, that Elite Dentist would try to push another deep cleaning on me for the money. Dr. Powell and his staff are so incredibly kind. The dental office is immaculate, there is fresh coffee while you wait, the staff is INCREDIBLY caring, and if you suffer with anxiety about the dentist – suffer no more. The staff at the dentist office is SO incredibly kind and professional. With all the upcoming holidays approaching, I am MOST excited about the month of October for my Open Enrollment. If you have Delta Care through your employer and if you can upgrade to Delta Dental, I would highly recommend you do so. It will cost you a little more but the dental care you receive for paying a bit more is incredible. If I would have known this years ago, I never would have signed up through Delta Care and would have chosen Delta Dental. If you for some reason can’t upgrade, I highly recommend that if you have Delta Care that you go and get two or three different opinions regarding any care you are told that you need because you may not need the treatment at all. If you can upgrade during the upcoming enrollment, I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Powell for your dental care. I promise you – you will not be dissatisfied. When I walked into Dr. Powell’s office, I was so shaken up. By the time I left, all anxiety was gone and when I had to go back for my deep cleaning (My second appointment) I went willingly and did not have to be dragged by my daughter. I felt very little anxiety when I arrived. When I got in the chair, all anxiety was lifted. I am so grateful for Dr. Powell and his staff for their kindness towards me during my visits.

Today was my first day coming to Dr. Powell and I have nothing but positive reviews. As soon as I walked in the door I was greeted and was given a tour of the whole office and they show how up to date the doctor is on dentistry. The lady brought me to the room and asked me if I needed anything because they are all about making sure the patients are comfortable. Then the hygienist came, he did a great job and I meet the doctor who also checked my teeth. And the best part is, is when I left my teeth weren’t sore. Every time I left my old dentist my teeth were always sore. So overall the place was clean and the staff was very friendly.

I had an excellent experience at Dr. Powell’s office, Exceptional Dentistry. I’m here from out of state to visit family and he was able to see me during my short time here. Dr. Powell is SO amazing! Everyone in the office and the hygienists are so kind and caring. They really listen and care about their patients. Melissa is both my and my husband’s hygienist and she is so sweet and personable, she makes it fun to have your teeth cleaned. Dr. Powell’s very thorough care contained an extensive X-ray with a full 3D skull scan that found my deviated septum. He suggested I seek a referral to an ENT from my primary care doctor. This led me to receive a septoplasty which has helped me sleep so much better, completely stopped my night clenching that had been a problem for about 5 years, and reduced my migraines. I spent nearly $400 at a dentist in Arizona to create an occlusal guard to protect my teeth during my night clenching. No dentist nor doctor thought to scan my nose to reduce (or alleviate) the symptoms I had had for years. Dr. Powell talked briefly about the route we could take for night clenching, but stated that I should first see an ENT. He could have provided me with extensive and expensive care immediately, however, he suggested I exhaust other corrective efforts, first, to rule out the other issues. Dr. Powell is very patient-centric and not concerned about making a dollar. He and his entire staff are concerned with your oral health and it is very evident. Additionally, they keep all the files on the computer so you never have to fill out papers – everything is by computer – and even provide hot chocolate and water bottles in the waiting room. Also, the magazines are all current! Dr. Powell and his staff are a top notch dental office and a great find in Palmdale. I feel so blessed to have found them.

Not only does he make sure that he is the most up to date with dental techniques, but he also ensures they are all the most current with patient comfort and care. They often go to conferences as a complete team. That commitment to patient care is what makes this office stand out over any I have been to before. Dr.Powell is the dentist you look forward to visiting , for you know they really care about your health. Dr. Powell believes in technology that makes your life easier. You begin by updating your profile on a laptop- you don’t rewrite the same info on paper. The waiting room is comfortable with water or tea. The dental technician takes your blood pressure and checks your info on another computer the updates your x-rays digitally on a huge screen so you can check as well. If you need any procedure, there are warm blankets, music , top of the line methods that will be explained to your satisfaction. I am really serious- this place is great!

Excellent work from routine preventative care to CERC crowns. My wife and sons have been patients of Dr. Powell for over 20 years. Very impressed with several emergency visits for my sons where younger where Dr Powell opened his office on weekends to care for a chipped or impacted tooth. This is my favorite dentist ever! I didn’t go to the dentist for years because the hygienist or dentist would hurt me and make me scared to go back, but Dr Powell and his hygienist, Brian, are soooo gentle and friendly! I go to all of my scheduled appointments now and I don’t get nervous anymore when I need to get something bigger than a cleaning & check-up. The other day I went for a crown. They offer so much to make me comfortable and the dental assistants are very friendly and accommodating. I came here to have my teeth cleaned, and wow! This office is amazing! Everyone was incredibly friendly, and happy. I loved my hygienist she made me feel like I was talking with an old friend. And there is a lot of cool stuff that, I’ve never even heard of a dentist doing. I also got my gums lasered! That’s right, I said laser. (Did u know a dentists could do that?) Dr. Powell was super nice too, and I feel like he explained things really well. Everything is really clean and looks updated. And I have to be honest, and say I don’t understand why or how anyone is even complaining about their insurance and billing with this office. This office is worth EVERY PENNY even if it comes out of my pocket. And I’ve never been excited to go to the dentist, but now I can’t wait until my next appointment! I’ve already told my family about them because they truly are a wonderful dental office. If you don’t go here you are missing out.

I am a person who dreads the dentist’s office. This was my first time at Exceptional Dentistry, and I’m NOT dreading my next appointment! The atmosphere from the start was amazing and not expected. Sure, the reserved front parking spot was nice, but when you are offered a comfort list with items from a blanket and pillow to aromatherapy, you forget you are at the dentist. Every person I interacted with was so welcoming and nice. They understood my goals for the visit and made sure I was comfortable the entire time. If you are a person who dreads the dentist, Exceptional Dentistry is for you. They do everything they can and then some to make sure you are as comfortable as possible. Always a pleasant experience, when I finally do come in, and believe me, it’s a lot of making, breaking and rescheduling appt’s. But in all seriousness, Dr. Powell’s office is always clean, and in order, and there are plenty of refreshments to drink, and Trident gum to chew on while you wait. They’re always having awesome giveaways, such as iPads, movie tickets, etc., which makes coming to the dentist more fun than it already is. Their equipment and technology is unparalleled to anything that I have seen in any other dental offices, they can take x-rays while you wait in the chair, they do same day procedures, where at other places it may take several office visits. They offer amenities such as cold water to drink (in the dentist chair, that is), warm blankets to cover you, iPod’s (with your favorite type of music, or preference), or movie glasses (I haven’t tried those yet, but yes, they’re also on their amenities menu), all while having work done to your mouth, all to make you as comfortable as possible. So enough about all the wonderful things this dental practice has to offer, on to the staff. I was recommended this wonderful establishment from a friend, and his wife happens to be a receptionist at this office, he name is Tootie, she is very professional, caring and sweet, and truly cares about the patients needs, and is always there to help. Brian, he is amazing!! I recently had one of those dreadful deep cleanings, where they need to numb your mouth to clean the teeth? Well, Brian gave me a topic numbing medicine, and besides it tasting bitter, and horrible… the combination of the topical numbing ointment, and Brian’s soft caring touch, I did not feel a thing. He even worked around my braces, and I did not get my braces with Dr. Powell, which I should have, but that was not a problem for a professional like Brian, he was able to past them, and clean my teeth. The only issue I do have is that, every time I go in there, I end up buying something. Keep in mind, they don’t try to sell it to me, but just like those awesome advertising companies, they put things out where you can see it, ask about it. For example, I saw the Sonic Care toothbrush, sitting on the shelf in the procedure room, this on my first visit, and I asked Brian about it, and he told me all about it, so I bought it on my first visit. I don’t regret that purchase one bit, I use it all the time, and I can get brush head replacements super cheap at Costco. The last time I went in, I saw that they had a water floss thingy, also on a shelf, in the procedure room, I have been thinking about getting one, and me having braces, and it being super difficult to floss with standard floss, I decided to buy it, great investment for my teeth. The only issue being is that, I spend extra money, but it is worth, and you’ll get it at a better deal than other department stores, and as I mentioned before, it’s for a good investment on your teeth. Overall a wonderful place!!

Today I visited Dr. Powell’s office to get a porcelain Cerec onlay. My experience was far beyond what I expected!! They go above and beyond to make their patients feel comfortable!! They offered me a blanket (that was in a blanket warmer!!), gave me an iPod to listen too (you get to pick what genre of music), gave me Tylenol beforehand (to make me more comfortable during), and Dr. Powell even puts vitamin E oil on your lips so yours lips don’t get dry during the procedure ( I hate when that happens!!). All in all Dr. Powell is a great dentist and far surpassed my expectations of going to the Dentist. I would definitely recommend him to any of my friends and family!

If you’re a patient like myself, then you will definitely appreciate the extra mile this office is willing to go to make your experience exceptional. They really live up to the name! The staff is clean, organized & professional. I learned that the doctor and the staff do yearly training to keep themselves up to date. This definitely shows in their work. I had my 4-year-old retainers rust (from another dentist) and I was given an emergency appointment for impressions of new retainers right away (I didn’t want my teeth to shift). Oh and last but not least, they have a comfort menu. I am glad to have switched to this dentistry. I recommend it to others who want to have a great experience at the dentist’s office.

I had a 2hr procedure that under other circmstances could be considered uncomfortable. But Dr. Powell gave great numbing, administered slowly, and provided Bose headphones with a hand held controller. He explains everything and you never feel rushed. And when I was done, I was given a card, which I didnt open until I got home. How nice, it said I was the VIP of the day, and included a $10 card to Coldstones. NICE!! I just love the level of comfort and friendliness at Dr. Powells.

Dr Powell’s office is a very family friendly environment that welcomes you with open arms. The people who work there really make sure you receive the best treatment that fits you. They connect with you on a personal level and make you feel like part of a family. I’ve been going to Dr Powell’s for many years since I was young. I was a shy kid but he made it easier with having very friendly staff that make you feel comfortable when your in the chair. Even though a hygienist might come and go through out the years, there is always another one who is eager to help you and make you feel at home with a wonderful personality. They are very flexible when it comes to making your next appointment. They make sure they remind you ahead of time so you don’t miss your appointment. I have been going to Dr. Powell for about 7 years now following the retirement of Dr. Richards. I have been very satisfied by Dr. Powell’s expertise and his use of the most advance dental technology available. I had 45 year old mercury fillings and over a couple visits he replaced them all with porcelain. I eventually had all my old gold crowns replaced as well. Crowns are made right in his office using a highly technical computerized milling machine and you get the crown set the day you go in for your visit….No More Temporary’s…the office staff is great, their new Hygienist, April, is fantastic. I would recommend Dr. Powell to everybody!

Everyone here is so kind! The comment a couple down about being overpriced and quick to charge…..you may want to check with your insurance to see what they cover. The dental office has set prices for everything, so it might just be that your insurance isn’t as good as you thought it was. I always call before I have any work done and Toody will do her best to let me know how much of it I will need to pay out of pocket. Call ahead if you are that worried!
This office has the top notch technology, which makes the visit pain free and easy! I am so pleased with my dental hygienists, that they inspired me to go back to school to get my degree as well. I highly recommend Dr. Powell and his colleagues to anyone in the AV searching for a new dental office!

Before going to Exceptional Dentistry I had been to 4 other dental offices and they all said I have to pull out my tooth, which the first dental office neglected to tell me had a cavity. They were all wrong, not one of them including one I went to down in Santa Clarita suggested a root canal to save it, But Exceptional Dentistry saved my tooth and it was priced reasonably, compared to the thousands of dollars I was quoted at the other dental offices. The work that they did for me after running around to all these other dentist was awesome. People should do through research and call and bug their insurance companies on what is covered and who is in network or out of network prior to having any work done , it’s your responsibility as well.

Beware of this place!!! They will say that your cleanings are covered by insurance and then charge over 400 dollars. They will say the insurance coverage was quoted wrong to them so guess who gets to pay. IT’S YOU! They also waited until my husband had his appointment 2 weeks later so the could bill us for both. How crooked is that. Stay away and save yourself a lot of money.

I’ve been going here the last couple years, and they really do a great job. I have had a couple teeth fixed and they are perfect. Now I come and get a cleaning every six months by the hygienist. All the technology is top notch, and Dr. Powell takes the time to make sure you understand about what’s going on, and has no problem with questions. Dr Powell and the staff are great! This dental office has left me amazed. I didn’t know it was possible for a dental office to be this nice, clean and they actually take their time with each and every patient. As soon as my foot is their office I’m greeted by the receptionist by my name. Our wait is no more than 20 minutes. It’s such a big difference to other dental offices we have been to. He played little league, pony league baseball and worked at his Dad's business, Green Pastures Dairy on Division St. in Lancaster. He then did his undergraduate studies at the University of the Pacific. He earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery at Loma Linda University. He began his practice in Quartz Hill in 1989 and then moved to our current location in 2001. He is married to his high school sweetheart, and they are raising their 5 children here in the Antelope Valley where they are surrounded by family and life long friends. Dr. Powell enjoys hiking, camping and lots of other outdoor activities that allow him and his Family to take advantage of all that the desert and state have to offer.
