Long time yelp reader, 1st time yelp reviewer. I can’t help but agree with the previous post here about wanting to give credit when due. Firstly, I want to say that I am pretty upset after coming here. YES PRETTY UPSET. Not because of the practice here, but because a year ago I went to a dentist not far from this location on Damen and Lawrence. I felt rushed there and it was not nearly as thorough as The Family Dental of Lincoln. I told the old dentist that I hadn’t been to the dentist in years. Yet they didn’t to take the time to go over my current state. That dentist didn’t even want to do my cleaning that day saying that the hygienist was too busy and we didn’t set aside time for it, but didn’t I schedule a new client appt???? I just felt he was not accommodating and I was being reasonable not demanding at all. I really felt as though they didn’t care.. I only bring up the previous visit because it set a precedent of my expectation going forward. Which have since changed completely after visit my new dentist here. Making an appointment was easy, the receptionist kindly called me back to let me know that a more ideal time that I asked for opened up. That was considerate. Working as a receptionist myself I understand the demand and pressure that comes with the job. However, you can tell the difference between people just doing their jobs and those who actually care about people. They absolutely care here. I walk in, everyone was kind and inviting. I fill out some paperwork and soon (5 minute wait) I am brought to the back and do not let appearances fool you. The office may be in an older strip mall, but unlike that other dental office that had spiffy floors and was easy to look at from the outside, The family Dental of Lincoln was equipped with higher end digital dental rads (xrays). Much appreciated because that saves time for the doctor to retake shots. Meaning they did not cut corners to provide, me, the patient comfort and ease. It is very clean, but cozy at the same time. Dr. Obeid was also very warm and inviting. His bedside manner was amazing, he is easy going and funny. He had my trust right from the start. I asked about my old silver fillings and if I should take them out to fill them with the newer materials available. He smiles, opens his mouth and shows me his silver fillings. He told me his dad did them when he was younger and he would only replace then if the space between the filling and the tooth ever got widen. What honestly, he didn’t push for me to get unnecessary procedures. He just said if I was bothered by the way that they looked or if they caused pain, there would be no reason to do anything to them. Hey if it isn’t broken, why fix it right?? To my surprise he did the cleaning himself!!! The last dentist, Tedford, didn’t even want their hygienist who offered to squeeze me in before lunch to do it… shows how much that guy cared, just wanted me to get billed didn’t care about my benefits being lost for the rest of the year since they had no appointments left for me to come back in for the cleaning. Speaking of which….. I had my wisdoms (just one side) taken out earlier this year and most of the coverage was used up at the time. The front office and Dr. Obeid worked with me to plan out my (siiiigh, newly found) cavities and a future wisdom tooth extraction. We planned out next years benefits and maximized what I had left this year…. I was over about 8-10 dollars, which is nothing for an out of pocket cost. Surprisingly they comped me and said not to worry if the amount wasn’t covered by my PPO. How nice, they did not have to do that but that was so much appreciated because it made me feel very well taken care of. Immediately after my cavities where taken out (10mins tops) I asked for their next available appointment because I was going home and making my roommate schedule it ASAP. Which she will once I get off the computer yelping… Thank you for such a great experience, taking a Saturday off to go to the dentist and actually enjoy the appointment. I even went to the Walgreens a block away and bought more floss… lol From the front desk to the assistant, who was AWESOME (I really wish I had gotten her name to give her credit) and of course to Dr. Obeid. Thank you for making a nightmare experience something to now look forward to.
