Over the past few decades, I have tried EVERYTHING available to help me manage my chronic headaches and night time clenching. I began researching the internet where I found some very compelling you tube videos regarding this issue (TMD). Could I have found REAL help in Dr Sutter?! I quickly called his office and after speaking with him on the phone; I made the decision to make an appointment and travel from San Francisco to his office located in Eugene. I am very pleased with my results. Many of my symptoms have greatly diminished and I no longer wake up with headaches!!! I highly recommend Dr. Ben Sutter and his amazing staff.

My experience at For Beautiful Smiles was very positive. Everyone in the office was warm & kind. They made every effort to reach out to my insurance & explain the coverage to me. They were able to take care of my broken tooth right away. I have a lot of dental anxiety, & I felt about as comfortable as I could here.

My first visit and consult went great! They think I’m a candidate! He said he of course can’t guarantee a pain free result but will sure try! My first treatment is scheduled for February 8th! Wish it wasn’t so far away but atleast I’m finally getting somewhere with answers! I love the doctor and staff he sat and talked with me for two hours I finally felt I’ve got a doctor who listened to me and truly wants to help me!

I don’t usually leave reviews but felt that I had such a phenomenal experience with Dr. Sutter and his staff that I just really needed to. I really let my teeth go over the years. I’d tell myself that I was going to go back and life happened. I was busy with work then my grand kids came along. I’ve also been a lifelong smoker and had been told I had periodontal disease. After battling cancer my teeth seemed to get worse and after being five years cancer free, I finally decided to go and see Dr. Sutter based on a recommendation from a friend. To say I was embarrassed about my teeth is an understatement and I dreaded having them looked at and was afraid of what they might say. When I first walked in I felt so at ease and comfortable. The lady sitting at the front greeted me right away and I was given a tour of their lovely office by their hygienist Denise. She explained how they sterilized all their equipment and showed me their up to date digital dental equipment. This has always been a concern for me because of my history with radiation treatments. I received a detailed tooth examination, and the great thing about it is with their digital x rays, the image is blown up right there in front of you immediately so that you can see exactly what they are showing you. Dr. Sutter really took his time explaining the treatment I would need. I left feeling so much better about the outlook of my teeth and never felt judged or harped on. I could tell they really wanted to help me. The first two visits following my initial visit consisted of a deep cleaning which I have to tell you was the most thorough and gentle cleaning I’ve ever had, and I have gum disease!!! My mouth felt so much better. Last week, after going years with no back teeth I finally received my top and bottom partial dentures that I have been waiting so long to get. They fit so well and and it feels good to finally be able to chew again. If I had known what a wonderful experience going back to the dentist would have been, I would never have waited. I’m just so grateful and appreciative at how I’ve been treated at Dr. Sutter’s office and give him my highest recommendation. I have recommended him to all my friends and neighbors!!!

Dr. Sutter and his team are absolutely amazing! They all truly care about their patients. I drive about five and a half hours each way for my appointments with Dr. Sutter. Tonight he personally called me to let me know how bad the weather is in Eugene right now so we could reschedule. That is a great guy right there. I highly recommend going to him.

The best dentist ever! I’d give Dr. Sutter a million stars, but unfortunately, the most this review will allow is five. Let me explain…… I’ve always had pretty teeth. It would have been hard not to, considering my father was an orthodontist. But that doesn’t mean that my teeth were without problems. Mine was what was called an “extraction case”; four permanent bicuspids were pulled to allow more room for the teeth without crowding. I knew when my braces came off that something wasn’t right…… it felt like I had to force my jaw back as far as possible to bring my teeth together. That posed a huge dilemma…… how does one tell one’s father, (who truly believes that he has done the perfect job to create the perfect “bite” for me), that something is just not right? Well, one doesn’t. So I dismissed all thought of it from my mind and proceeded to grow up and forge ahead with life. I managed to get to the age of forty before I could no longer ignore the ever growing pain in my jaw. By this time, my dad was treating many adult patients with what he described as “Temporal Mandibular Joint Disorder” or TMJ. This gave me the opening I needed to tell him I was experiencing that pain in my jaw as well. Then came another year and a half of wearing braces to “open” my bite. This treatment did give me some hope and some relief, but I was still very aware that something just wasn’t right. But, once again I forged ahead with life……. As my jaw pain continued to worsen, I began having excruciating migraine headaches, causing my mind to not function well and my interior design career to suffer. Then neck pain and incredible shoulder muscle tightness were next. I began going to the chiropractor on a regular basis. He said he would make me better, but in reality, those visits only temporarily gave me some relief. From there I tried acupuncture, again with no lasting pain relief. All these visits to professionals were adding up financially. Next, due to the tightness in my jaw muscles, tinnitus set in, to the point that I thought at first I might loose my mind. My quest to alleviate the tinnitus led me to a clinic who sold me a very expensive “white noise” device to wear in my ear which was intended to distract me from that constant awful ringing going on in my head. They also put me on a prescription tranquilizer, Xanax, which was supposed to lower anxiety, which in turn would turn down the volume of my tinnitus. After being drugged and told to wear a device that looks like a hearing aid, I concluded that the tinnitus was not the worst thing in the world. Being drugged and dopey was not an option, the ringing being the lesser of the two evils. So on I forged….. Then one day my dentist told me about a dentist in Portland who claimed he could “fix” my jaw disorder. I went to see him and began treatments, which consisted of grinding bits and places off of my teeth with the premise that he could get my teeth to fit together better. After a few sessions, I lost hope with this process, as I began to worry that I would be paying this man large sums of money only to end up with stubs for teeth, and still be in pain. What next, I wondered…. And that was when I told myself that I really was going to have to live with this… this awful pain, constant headaches, muscle tightness, and tinnitus. After all, there are people with much worse problems, right? But wait, what’s this? I began having dizzy spells. I searched the Internet and began wondering if perhaps I had Meniere’s Disease, a condition caused by an imbalance in the inner ear, and can become quite debilitating. So I went to my doctor, and sure enough, after an MRI of my head revealed no cause for the dizziness, I was diagnosed with Meniere’s disease. This time I was given a prescription for Valium. Nice drug, but I don’t want to live a drugged life. I asked for a referral and sought out an ear, nose and throat doctor for a second opinion. Good news was that it wasn’t Meniere’s Disease at all. It turns out it was one more symptom caused by my teeth. By this time, I had hit the age of retirement, and I gratefully hung up my designer’s hat. Without the stress of a career, I can say that the dizziness subsided all on it’s own. Yay! Okay, without the stress in my life, I talked myself into living with my pain once again. I had been living with it since I was fourteen, and now I was 64 years old, a nice even 50 years of jaw pain survival. Another year went by, and one day, I yawned and heard and felt a very bizarre snap in my head. Something had just snapped loose in my jaw! Moving it started causing huge grinding sounds in my ear. Just when I had convinced myself nothing would get any worse. I had a long talk with myself and realized I owed it to myself to not give up. So I grabbed my iPad and opened my mind to the idea that there could still be someone out there in this world who could help me. That’s when I found the most brilliant man who had conceived the most brilliant approach to TMJ. Watching Dr. Ben Sutter on You Tube, as he interviewed his patients and described the technology he developed to actually measure the amount of force on each tooth blew me away. I knew from my research and history that what he was doing made perfect sense. I couldn’t call his office fast enough. The days crawled by till my appointment. What a delight to finally meet him! After my initial exam, Dr. Sutter presented his findings and proposed how he would correct my bite. As he explained to me, my trouble went all the way back to when I had those four permanent teeth pulled (which by the way is no longer done); the solution was something as fundamental as having the upper and lower teeth touch in the correct way. How could everyone else be so blind to the simple mechanics he described to me? I was overwhelmed with relief and joy; couldn’t write my check fast enough to get going. My treatment is coming to a close soon…. We are in our final days of slight bite adjustments. I have an even more beautiful smile than I have ever had, but that’s just the icing on the cake. The pain is gone. That’s right, IT’S GONE! I don’t seem different to the people in my life, but I am so different now. I no longer pretend to feel alright, I actually am alright. When I climb into bed at night, I often sit for a while and just soak up the sensation of no pain, no headache, no muscle tightness, no jaw clenching. Only the tinnitus is still with me, like a loyal friend reminding me of how far I’ve come in just a few months. Now that’s easy to live with! My gratitude to Dr. Sutter is immense. He is my hero and I will shout his praises to the rooftops at every opportunity. Thank you, Dr. Sutter, and your wonderful staff, from the bottom of my heart.

I saw Dr Sutter for the first time in January for my oh so annoying TMJ issues. I had already done neuromuscular which helped but not enough. I saw some you tube videos on his DTR treatment. Dr Sutter spoke with me on the phone before even making an appointment…and on the weekend. No doctor ever does that!! I live in WA so it was a 5 hour drive. After 3 appointments my TMJ reduced quit a bit. He is so patient and just the sweetest man. I would highly recommend anyone with tmj to try this out. And to use him as a regular dentist. I adore him and his whole practice.

Over the past few months, Dr. Ben Sutter, DMD and his magnificent assistant Ashley, EFDA, have been assisting me and my oral hygiene. They have completely restored my confidence in my smile and health to my gums and teeth. They are wilfully flexible and do everything they can to make you feel as comfortable as possible. Their time management skills go above and beyond, completing extensive, clean work in short amounts of time. They hold true to thier name “Beautiful Smiles”.

I can’t recommend Dr. Sutter enough! We initially set up the appointment to get a lip tie corrected. After Dr. Sutter examined my daughter he also found she had a tongue tie that had been missed at the hospital. So at 12 days old she was able to get her lip and tongue tie fixed. He explained exactly what they would be doing and the benefits of it getting fixed. It took less then 5 minutes for the laser surgery and She was back in my arms. He then showed us where exactly they fixed it and what it looked liked and what it would look like in the days to follow. We went over the exercises we needed to do to help it all heal properly. I noticed a difference in our feedings right away. She latched on so much better and swallowed less air durning our feeds. Which in return made her less fussy. She still has her moments of going back to the the way she was feeding but we are getting better and better every day. I will say the sooner you can get the surgery done then better off you and your baby will be. It does take some retraining to get them to realize what they are able to do now. If you are on the fence about reaching out to him, don’t be, he is super honest and upfront if the surgery is necessary or not. I can’t thank Dr. Sutter enough for helping us.

I just finished getting a new porcelain crown and 5 veneers (the top front 6 teeth) and am a very anxious person when going to the dentist (or any doctor). Although I was very anxious about this procedure, getting the initial work done, getting the temporary teeth and then 2 weeks later going in to get my permanent crown and veneers, it was the easiest trip to the dentist I’ve ever experienced. Dr. Ben Sutter and his staff are the best. He is very compassionate and understanding when your so anxious about it. On a scale of 1 to 10, (10 being the highest) he is an absolute 20!! The best dentist I have ever had (and I’ve had a few)! I LOVE this man as my dentist and would absolutely recommend him to anyone who is looking for a dentist!! The result is beautiful and I’m so happy with this whole experience.

I came to Dr. Sutter’s office needing extensive dental work. Dr. Sutter and his staff took a long time explaining my options to me and making sure that I understood all of the procedures. They worked in conjunction with other providers to make sure that the level of care I would receive was the same throughout all facets of the treatment plan. I highly recommend his office to those who want quality dental care from an extremely friendly office

Dr. Sutter is a true innovator and a true hero to people who have Ménière’s disease! He cured me of a disease that every other doctor who told me there is no cure. I owe this man my life, without his treatment my life was just existing not living. If you have Ménière’s disease please at least talk to this doctor he can help you because there are no other doctors out there who will do what he can do. If I could I’d give you 10 stars that’s how good this doctor is. Thank you again Dr. sutter for everything you’ve done for me.

Went to Dr. Sutter for tongue and lip tie revision for our son. It was an excellent experience all around. They were able to get us in quickly. All of the staff were personable and great to deal with. Dr. Sutter was super knowledgeable and easy to talk to. I liked that he mentioned some recent medical journal publications that I was able to look up for more information. He is passionate about helping babies get started right. I would definitely recommend For Beautiful Smiles for a baby with tie issues.

I have always dreaded going to the dentist, until I went to see Dr. Sutter, what a great experience. I had to have a crown and a filling done. Dr Sutter and Ashley made it an easy and painless experience. Dr Sutter always as time to chat with you and find out how you are doing and likes to share outdoor adventures. Every one here is amazing and I wouldn’t go any were else. I always leave with a smile and feeling good about the work that I had done. Thank you Dr Sutter and every one that works there. I moved to Dr Sutters’ practice after my dentist had given up on me and told me to get dentures. He has worked with me and my difficult situation in a highly professional, confident and caring manner. He has restored my teeth to better than original and provided me a clear path forward to proper dental health. He has been a both a ‘Miracle Worker’ and an artist for my smile! Highly, highly recommended!

This is a lovely little upscale dental clinic in Eugene-and don’t let the word upscale scare you off price-wise, because the pricing is very reasonable. Especially with insurance! Wonderful staff, very accommodating and efficient. Fasting fillings in the west! 😉 The small extras he and his staff provide make you feel so pampered and cared for. For example, they offer paraffin dips for your hands while you get your teeth cleaned and give you a lemon towel afterward. I appreciate that his clinic uses the latest proven technology to clean and monitor your teeth’s progress. They also explain the science behind everything they do. If you ask, Dr. Sutter will even show you what your mouth bacteria look like under a microscrope. It’s awesome. The more you go to the dentist, the more your teeth improve over time. I went into Dr. Sutter’s office with a mouth full of problems. I went in four times per year to get a deep cleaning, plus a few extra times to get fillings put in. During those four years my teeth and gums became healthier-they bled less, became whiter and brighter, and in general just look good. I even had a wonky gum near the back of my mouth that had been pulling away from the teeth tighten up and return to the correct position with no intervention other than regular cleanings! In summary: This clinic made me *enjoy* going to the dentist.

We went to Dr. Sutter to have my little one’s tongue and lip ties revised at 12 days old. They were affecting his latching and he wasn’t gaining weight. The office was clean, safe protocols were being followed, and the staff was wonderful. He did a thorough exam and explained the follow-up care/stretches I would be providing. The procedure was so quick. I don’t think it was longer than about 3 minutes and I immediately nursed him following. I was extremely impressed, and now at 5 weeks out, I am so grateful for Dr. Sutter and him doing this procedure. My son has consistently gained weight since the revision thanks to a drastic improvement in his latch. Thanks so much to Dr. Sutter and his staff. I highly recommend him for any lip/tongue tie revisions. I attribute much of our success with breastfeeding to having this procedure done!

We saw Dr. Sutter for lip and tongue tie revisions in both of my children recently. Dr. Sutter did an excellent job and made sure to answer any questions and concerns that I had. I was very nervous about both procedures, but was reassured both times and had a great experience. Both of my children had trouble with reflux and latching before the revision, and both problems were resolved afterward. The rest of the staff at the office are all very welcoming and extremely helpful!

I have been a patient at this office for almost 20 years. I have been very pleased with Dr. Sutter and his kind chairside manner. I am confident with my dental visits and the professional care I receive. I was most recently in and had an old bridge replaced; it looks and feels so natural. I also had some implant work done and I am very satisfied how natural my dental work looks and feels. I would highly recommend this office for anyone that is in need of dental work.
★★★★★
Very professional and compassionate. He took time to explain EVERYTHING in detail and in terms I could understand. Dr. Sutter listened to my concerns and was very interested in my comfort level. The office worked with my schedule to resolve minor issues with fit and comfort of new dentures. I am extremely pleased with my results and would recommend both Dr. Sutter and his staff without reservation.

I cannot recommend Dr. Sutter and his team enough. I have had chronic pain caused by TMJ disorder for 10 years. I have tried multiple other therapies and only felt little relief or no relief. I honestly felt trapped inside my own body. I had a hard time committing to any plans without knowing I could bail at the last minute or I had extra pain medicine in case of a bad flare. I couldn’t exercise or do anything strenuous without being almost bedridden for days afterward. I spent full weeks missing work due to the pain. I spent a lot of time feeling depressed, sad, and angry. I had been a working personal trainer who exercised multiple times a day, I was busy all of the time and enjoyed doing so many things when the TMJ disorder symptoms started setting it. The worse it became the more I felt like I was trapped in a failing body, incapable of doing many of the things I loved. Dr. Sutter was recommended to me by another dentist and I had heard some brief information about the option he offered, but never really looked into it. When I met with Dr. Sutter I had experienced almost all of the symptoms associated with TMJ disorder. I went into Dr. Sutter’s office with 20 active symptoms and left after less than a year with 4 symptoms….and those symptoms are not constant. He and his team gave me my body back, plus continue to support my journey to less pain and I can not thank them enough. If you are even experiencing mild symptoms, set up an appointment with Dr. Sutter. It is worth it, do not hesitate.

I wish I could give Dr. Sutter a 20 star review. He is by far the best doctor/dentist I’ve ever seen! First off he is extremely intelligent and explains everything, so the patient can understand. He explains the theology of his DTR practice and how it can effect the entire body. I will gladly fly from Texas to Oregon to come see him monthly. He has helped me more in the 6 visits I’ve seen him, then the last 9 years, that I’ve seen all my specialists combined. I had a severe head injury/concussion in 2013. I started having excruciating nerve pain in my head called occipital neuralgia. It was so debilitating that I couldn’t work. Then in March of 2019 I was diagnosed with trigeminal neuralgia and it was done to me by a dentist in San Antonio, Texas, I was seeing for GNM dentistry. My excruciating pain started after a simple filling. Trigeminal neuralgia is known as the suicide disease, as it is the worst known pain to man. It felt like I was being electrocuted in my face constantly. It was so bad I couldn’t talk, eat, drink or even walk some days. I have tried nerve blocks, medial branch blocks, trigger point injections, botox, dry needling, acupuncture, cranial sacral therapy, neuromuscular dentistry, over 25 different medications and physical therapy for 2 years 3 times a week. I also was seeing an upper cervical chiropractor in San Antonio for 3 1/2 years, 3 times a week and never got out of pain. Dr. Sutter has been able to take away the excruciating electrical shocks in my face and has help my head pain immensely. He has done what 30 plus doctors couldn’t do over a span of 9 years. I will be forever indebted to him, as I never thought I could live a normal life without excruciating pain 24/7. I have and will continue to recommend Dr. Sutter to everyone. Don’t hesitate to see him as you’re in the best hands. He truly cares about his patients and his goal is to make you feel better, you’re not just another number with him. I feel better now then I ever have, since my concussion in 2013. Dr. Sutter is truly an angel on earth, he soul handily saved my life and I can’t ever repay him for that!

Great experience and I highly recommend going to Dr. Ben Sutter. I’m a new patient and am so happy I found them, each and every staff member from the moment I walked in the door made me feel welcome and comfortable. He is knowledgeable, so gentle and I was reassured throughout the process of starting 2 crowns. Dr. Sutter and his assistant, Ashley, explained each step before during and after the procedure. Thank you team Sutter.

I woke up with my face swollen and in pain one Saturday. After calling around to local dentists and not finding anyone willing to help me get out of pain, my roommates mom recommended a dentist that she drives out of town to see. I called Dr. Sutter on his emergency number and even though I never saw him before, he agreed to meet me early in his office the very next day. He and his staff came in early to take care of me and got me out of pain. Even though I needed a root canal, it was one of the most comfortable appointments I’ve ever been to. Dr. Sutter was one of the best ever giving me Novocain. I have to say I didn’t even feel it and It was a bottom tooth (which I know hurts a little more). I felt like I was really cared for during my appointment, and was offered music and a warm blanket that the nurse warmed up for me. Because of this experience, I am a patient for life! Thank you Dr. Sutter and your AMAZING staff for taking such great care of me! If you want great care by someone who goes out of their way, explains things thoroughly, and is pain free, Dr. Sutter is your man

We brought our 1 week old to Dr Sutter to have a tongue tie assessed and potentially a frenulectomy. We had been told he was the only person locally who could perform the procedure with a laser, and after finding out that that the doctor we had initially been referred to in Portland was not contracted with our insurance (and it would take about a month to get in and cost $400 if we tried using insurance and it was denied. If we didn’t even try billing insurance, it could run up to $900), we contacted Dr Sutter’s office. They were able to get us in within just a few days, and at a flat rate of $400 for the assessment and procedure. The whole staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, and Dr Sutter was very knowledgeable. He assessed both the tongue tie, and found a lip tie, performed the procedure to release both all for the initial price estimate and in a single visit. He explained everything he was looking for, showed both of us what the ties looked like (and the difference after the procedure), and exactly what to do for aftercare. If for some reason, further correction is needed, he will do it free of additional charge. We were both so happy with the care, that we are already looking at using Dr Sutter’s office down the road when our son needs a dentist. Highly recommend him!

Dr Sutter took over the dental practice from my former dentist, Dr Vodvarka who had been my dentist for over 20 years. For awhile, both Dr’s shared the practice and I found Dr Sutter to be as good or better at taking care of my dental health. He was very congenial and professional, a great dentist! After a year or so, Dr Vodvarka retired and Dr Sutter became my primary dentist. I found his gentle and careful manner to be relaxing, careful, and professional. My dental health has continued to remain excellent, especially as I am now 76 years old and still have my original teeth. Dr Sutter has replaced some old crowns for me, done a necessary filling, a new crown, and referred me to an orthodontist for a bridge, which his excellent staff have kept cleaned, along with my regular dental hygiene treatments. His staff are courteous and helpful. I also can’t say enough good things about Dr Sutter’s hygienist, Darcy, who has done an excellent job keeping my dental hygiene well maintained and together they are the reason I still have my natural teeth still in good condition! Dr Sutter and his staff are the best dental team in the country as far as I am concerned! Thank you to Tamara, Darcy, Dr Sutter and all the rest of their staff! Sincerely, -Rich Richard F. I was in Dr Sutter’s office for my routine cleaning, and I have to say that getting my teeth cleaned at For Beautiful Smiles is just like getting a mini spa treatment! His staff is awesome and friendly, and the office is warm and inviting. I have highly recommended him to many family members who now go to Dr Sutter. He is just a great personable Dr.

I’ve had both of my sons tongue tie issues addressed with Dr Ben Sutter and his team. The first was 5 weeks old and my second was 4 and a half months old. Both babies had difficulty nursing and painful reflux. Within a week of the procedures I had two much happier babies/much happier households! I can’t recommend the consultation enough to anyone struggling with breastfeeding as i had multiple pediatricians say both kids were not tongue tied “enough” to cause problems. But we experienced difficulty getting a good latch, frustration from baby when nursing, my “older” baby could not sleep long stretches at night because he was never full, and on and on and on. It was a game changer for us. Dr Ben Sutter and his team made us feel so comfortable handing over our precious babies to them and the front desk staff welcomed us like old friends. It was a fantastic experience all around for all involved.

I saw Dr. Sutter and his assistant Ashley for a wisdom tooth removal. I was in tremendous pain and came in to the office last minute. Dr. Sutter and Ashley took great care of me. After explaining the procedure in detail, they made sure I was completely numb and began the process. My tooth was out in less than 10 minutes and I felt no pain. I can’t even compare the differences in this extraction versus another one I had in the past from a different provider. This was top notch care! After the procedure Dr. Sutter and his assistant, Ashley checked in on me numerous times to ensure proper healing. Their care, compassion, and attention to detail was so appreciated. I would highly recommend Dr. Sutter and Ashley to anyone who is looking for an honest and experienced provider.

I just had the best cleaning & most thorough check up in my entire life. Dr. Sutter & his team were so warm and professional. The office was inviting, clean & well organized. With many nice touches (coffee, fireplace, paraffin hand dip, toothbrushes & mouthwash in the bathroom). I have never had a bite analysis but it was really cool & useful to see. The cleaning was above & beyond my expectations and now I have a treatment plan that seems reasonable and well thought out. I’m Happy to have found For Beautiful Smiles. I will be recommending Dr. Sutter to all my friends & family.
