I’ve been a patient for about 5 years now, and I really love the practice and everyone there! I feel that my needs are well cared for, and I’ve been referred out a few times to specialists when it was needed. I especially appreciate the carefully done Covid prevention protocols in place, and I feel very safe there. Thanks!

Dr. Shults has been our dentist since we moved here from Virginia. All of our family has been under his care and we have been thrilled every time. He and his wife Susan also transplanted a super cool office building to San Antonio. This creativity and investment of effort parallels the service and kindness we have received every time.

I was referrred to Dr. Shults by my cousin and I have been pleasantly surprised.  He is very professional and truly has his paitent’s best interests at heart.  His staff is not only professional and helpful, but also fun to talk with.  The country decor of the office complex belies Dr. Shults’ dental expertice and innovation – all of the work I have had done are excellent.  Dr. Shults and his staff do not let technology get in the way of their primary task of taking care of their patients one person at a time.  I travel a good distance for dental care knowing that he cares for me as a person.  Dr. Shults’ christian faith helps him minister to his patients and community not just “do” dental work.  Keep up the good work!

I’ve always been super nervous at the thought of a dentist visit. First time back in 2002 Dr Schultz was my amazing dentist. Now 20 years later today I sit in that chair with kind staff n that contagious laugh along with his skills helped me out today. The way they broke out my dental plan n my insurance was so helpful to me. Thank you all. So glad to see some staff from way back when.

I’ve been a patient of Dr. Shults and his staff for five years.  I wish I had found him 20 years ago!  The staff members are friendly, professional and caring and treat you as if you were their only patient.  Dr. Shults is a wonderful dentist who is very passionate about his work.  He also makes beautiful dentures that are very affordable!  I recommend him to everyone I know!  Besides being the best dentist ever, Dr. Shults is an amazing man of God who plays Christian music in his office (which he does sing to!) and doesn’t worry that it might “offend” someone.  We should all live our lives by his example!

I took Donna to her Dentist and I love this place everything is antique or Western. Dr.Shults him shelf is a very nice Dentist and he’s employees are the same friendly and very outgoing. This Office is very well kept and extremely clean, well we all know sometimes we go to a Doctors office and the Higen is not like supose to be, but this Doctors office gets a 5+ from me because they deserve it.

Always hated going to the dentist. However after visiting Dr Shults I’ve been pleasantly impressed by his professionalism and demeanor. I would highly recommend him to my friends and family. He followed up with me after my initial appointment by calling me that night to see how I was doing. I’ve never had any doctor do that. Very caring and professional.

Great front office staff and the best dentist in San Antonio. Susan went out of her way to fit me in to the next available opening as I had broken my front tooth. Dr. Shultz saw me and fixed my tooth even though it was fairly late in the day. I have been coming here for years and I’ve always been treated so well and given the best service. Truly fantastic team!

I have an amazing smile which is the end result of my incredible experience with Dr. Shults and his wonderful staff!  There are so many accolades I can put in this review but I’m narrowing it down to one word…FAMILY.   You are not a patient, you are their sister, brother,  mom, dad,  and grandchild.  I’m from Chicago Illinois and I’ve lived in many cities across the U.S. and for the first time I look forward to my dental appointments because I’m going to see family and be well taken care of by people who truly care.

This 75-year old woman is most grateful to Dr. Shults and his staff who have done such wonderful things for me, and I once again want to thank everyone from the bottom of my heart.  My new set of teeth is beautiful and works well!  Oh yes, there was no pain! I am so thrilled!  Of course, going to Dr. Shult’s  office, The Barn, was such a delight every time.  I was just charmed by the rustic appearance of everything, and even sitting in that dreaded dentist’s chair I had to smile (when I could) when I looked out the window: even out there was “country”,  a neat black and white small porcelain or metal facsimile of a cow, just grazing there while I was trying to relax in the chair.   Really, The Barn is  not only a very professional place, but also a fun place. Dr. Shults and his team, particularly Cindy, Liz, and Debbie are exceptional. Ariana, their front desk clerical manager, is prompt, kind, and efficient. The atmosphere puts you at ease immediately. They offer amenities of aromatic lavender diffuser, cute sunglasses, mint chapstick, warm blanket, and neck pillow. They thoroughly explain every procedure and strive to reduce anxiety. I also enjoy and value their servant approach, and soothing Christian music. My husband and I plan to be customers for life!

Excellent dentist, very thorough and explains what he’s doing in your mouth and what he sees on your x-rays. Gentle hygienists as well. The barn is truly beautiful and offers a wonderful patient experience. Much more calming to look up at the exposed ceiling beams than your normal dentist’s experience.

Enter the renovated dental “barn” on Austin Highway – an entire barn deconstructed in Ohio and reconstituted here in San Antonio – and the entire space is an oasis of gentle, caring, humor-filled, but highly professional care. The longevity of the professional staff here tells you a lot about Gary Shults’ support of his staff, all of which extends to the patients in their care. It’s wonderful to walk into a clinic in which you are known, and in which you continue to see familiar faces. I enthusiastically recommend Gary and his practice without hesitation.

I have been going to Dr. Shults’ office for over five years and from the very first visit I felt like I was a part of an exceptional family.  The facility is unique, i.e., designed in a very warm, friendly and appealing manner…doesn’t look like your typical cold and sterile dental office.  His team consistently delivers extraordinary customer service and their technical mastery of dental care is unmatched.  I would love to hang out with them, because they are nice and a fun team, but I understand that they are so busy, which is a good thing.  Although I’m somewhat of a legend in the office, the “fajita man”, when they couldn’t do the work they referred me to another dentist who was equally competent and caring.  I have referred several people to Dr. Shults, because his team is totally cool!  So, if you are looking for a really experienced, compassionate and enjoyable team, look no more…Dr. Shults’ team has it going on.

This is crazy but I finally went to the Dentist yesterday after years and confirmed a back tooth needed to be pulled. There was no pressure…I could do it right then or I had the option of 9:00AM this morning. I decided to wait…I had never had a tooth pulled and honestly it scared me. Dr. Shults is so nice, soft spoken, caring…I can’t say enough. I tend to have a lot of anxiety at any doctors office, not just the dentist. So this morning I went in to my appointment and blood pressure and pulse were freaking out (normal for me). They asked if I would like a little nitrous and I said yes. Let me paint the picture…aroma therapy is in the air…warm pillow is under my neck…soft blanket is across my lap and combination oxygen and nitrous going in my nose. The dentist entered the room quietly and began speaking softly about relaxing and just think you are on your favorite beach, etc. Not in an annoying way, but like a father would soothe his child in the middle of the night after a bad dream. I felt him giving tiny numbing shots, not too bad (it had been 11 or 12 years). Within 2 minutes he said ok, we are thru. And for me to breathe oxygen for about 10 minutes. That is pretty much it. We talked about my next appointment to review all my teeth. I don’t have dental insurance so it’s nice to be given printed bids regarding the next appointment. Try him out. I think you will be happy.

As others have mentioned, these barnyard dental folks truly make going to the dentist a joyful experience. All the barn staff exude a welcoming and affirming positivity, and I long ago dubbed Gary the King of Pain, by which I mean that he is so attuned to the needs and experiences of his patients that pain is never an option under his care. We are longterm patients and have happily remained so, despite our having moved all the way across town into the Medical Center. Hats off to Gary, Susan, Debbie, Elizabeth, Ariana, and Priscilla. My reference to the barn is in no way meant to be disparaging. The clinic space (a retrofitted barn purchased and shipped all the way from Ohio) is a warm and comforting environment, and a joy to behold.

I took my young daughters to see Dr Shults for cleanings and check ups. The office staff was friendly and quickly put my girls right at ease. Our appointment started at the scheduled time, and we were in and out very quickly! I’m glad we made the decision to have Dr Shults as our family dentist.

I have been going to Dr Shults for years. They are fantastic! They’re always friendly and very considerate of your time. You schedule your next appointment before you leave. When you show up for your appointment you go right in. I don’t think I’ve ever waited more than 5 minutes! They even make an effort to see if you’d like the same technician every time you go. As a bonus, the inside of the facility looks like no other dr’s office I’ve ever seen! It’s very rustic and homey.
