Since Dr. Markle has taken excellent care of me for over 30 years, it is high time to share my thoughts on my many positive experiences. Last week, as I received my third set of veneers (life-altering decision oh-so-long ago!), what occurred to me is how lucky I am that he is the person who is in charge of that for me. He went to the trouble of creating “temporaries” which were durable enough for me to be on vacation for a month, and then when I sat down to receive the real thing and noticed that they were not quite right, he calmly went about gluing the temporaries back in and ordering another set of veneers. A lesser man would have maybe chalked it up to: “She’s an overly picky Virgo!” but not Dr. Markle. I feel cared for every time I see him. He even remembers each time I need calming down that Sting is what I like to listen to! Veneers are amazing, but they don’t last forever (this set should, however, given my age!). I can scarcely believe that when one of them popped off last year, the day before I had major surgery, Dr. Markle responded to my panicky phone call on a Sunday, and then met me super early Monday morning to glue it back on. I couldn’t have been more grateful. He is careful to assemble a team around him which is gracious, welcoming, and proficient. Both Leslie and Afsaneh know exactly what they are doing. Catrina, the hygienist, is superb. And I want to mention that Jose and Diana were totally there for me as I received my new veneers, comforting and thoughtful the entire time. You will be so happy if you choose Dr. Markle. I know I have always been appreciative! Thank you to the whole team!

I just finished Invisalign with Dr. Markle and am ecstatic about the results! I had braces with rubber bands as a kid so when my teeth regressed, it caused an uncomfortable bite, unnecessary tooth chipping (got to lay off that buffalo jerky), and more…so I decided to take the plunge and commit to Invisalign. It’s definitely an investment, but an absolutely worthy one. Until the unveiling yesterday, I didn’t realize the extent of wonkiness that defined my teeth before. They now look like the perfect version of my teeth and I couldn’t be more pleased with how thorough the doctor and his staff were with me to get it to this place. I travel often so appointments weren’t quite as often as they should’ve been but Dr. Markle and his crew made it possible to work around my busy schedule. I’m very impressed with the progress my teeth made in 6 months (they show you projections at the office) and the talent it takes to personalize the treatment…  I encourage anyone who has a weird bite or just wants to clean up their teeth for vanity purposes to get Invisalign with Dr. Markle…he knows what he’s doing!!

I’m really quite surprised at some of the reviews for this office. I’ve been seeing Dr. Markle and his staff for almost 10 years now and I’ve never encountered anything remotely negative. The office is brightly lit and clean, filled with high tech gadgets patients and staff can use alike – all without being pretentious! I now live in L.A. but still come up to SF for my medical visits and everything. I love walking into 450 Sutter, being greeted by Leslie, the first face you see (super friendly and fun) and then making my rounds with everybody… I know the staff so well and they’re all amazing in their own way… I love the financial guru – Afsaney – who really takes her time to map things out for me every time and explains the payment stuff clearly. I honestly would recommend this office to anybody who wants a great clean – Katrina rocks! – to something more serious because Dr. Markle is skilled and puts you at ease when he works on you. I’ve gotten several referrals from the office and they send me to the best when they can’t take care of the problem. The only drawback is, and I’m sure this is the primary reason for the some of the trash-talking reviews – is that it’s not cheap. YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!! It’s a nice office with nice skilled staff and cool little perks but you cannot expect to get Western Dental or 1800-DENTIST prices here. If you’re not sure then ASK or see if your insurance is covered. I sent a girlfriend of mine to the office for Invisalign and she brought up her budget and they made it work for her. So go to Dr. Markle’s and he’ll make your teeth sparkle!!

Class act all the way. I was a member of the Markle Team for about 41/2 years and only moved on recently to pursue other career opportunities. As someone that was in the office from a new patient’s initial visit, treatment planning, through the final step of a total mouth reconstruction I can vouch for his commitment to providing great dental care for all his patients. Dental insurance will always be an issue. To be able to stay on top of your game and offer patients the best and most advanced technology there is no way a modern dentist can be ruled by the iron fist of insurance. If you want the best, you will have to pay out of pocket. There are multiple payment options. Lots of patients now a days have the option of flex spending or health savings plans and are able to save up for treatments following their initial consultation where they can be given an estimate of their portions. Dr Markle is also committed to education and invested lots of time to train himself and his staff with some of the most advanced countiuing education courses currently available. There’s a reason he has such an established name in the dental field. . .

When I first moved to SF from L.A. I took a friend’s recommendation and visited Dr. Markle’s office for a basic cleaning. I know upscale dental practices – my last one was located on Wilshire and once waited patiently while the doc tended to a grumpy Jack Nicholson who required an emergency visit – and this is right up there. A simple but well-decked out office located in a tall medical building just north of Union Square, this place is truly a pleasant experience…besides the elevator ride up to the 19th floor, that is. 🙂 The front desk lady is very extroverted and the office manager is a wonderful lady, very sophisticated and matter-of-fact. It’s true, this is a cosmetic dentistry so they tell you about different options and possibilities but that’s how they profit. That’s what sets them apart from Western Dental. They will tell you what you need and if you’re too frugal then you take it to offense. Hell, I had my girlfriend come in and she got invisalign which is really working. Visits to the dentist are fun now – the hygenist Katrina is lovely and talkative too. I don’t know why there are so many negative reviews because I enjoy my visits a lot and always leave with a cold mint water. When I recommended a friend I also received a gift certificate. Now doesn’t that beat a cheap orange lollipop?

Dr. Markle has been my dentist for almost 30 years. He is a pro, and the staff is professional, friendly and genuine. Dr. Markle suggested a mouthpiece for my snoring/sleep apnea – which is amazing. Like many women, my lips began to disappear over time – instead of going back to my dermatologist, I decided to use Dr. Markle. I am extremely impressed! Cost was less (more time provided), and no need to return after a few months for more. Cannot say enough about this doctor and his team. I look forward to my visits (!?) NEVER thought that would be the case.

Let me start by saying I have the worst teeth and have been to over 30 dentists in my life and I have NEVER had such an excellent experience. I have soft enamel and whatever the gene is that makes Novocain not work well so needless to say I’m terrified of dentists. My front crown broke off a few months ago and I went to another dentist in the same building who shall rename nameless. He offered to make me a temporary plastic plate with my crown on it for $750 (not covered by insurance) then refer me to their other office (inside a SEARS in Hayward) where they don’t take my insurance at all and wanted to charge me thousands of dollars to fix my front tooth. I decided to wait with the temporary until I could pay for what I thought was my only option. So a few weeks ago the temporary plate broke off the crown and in a panic I remembered my friend had told me about his amazing dentist just after my $750 “solution”. He said the same front crown broke and Dr. Markle worked magic with a post to fix it. I went directly to his website Saturday morning and filled out the new patient form “Help!” and Dr. Markle CALLED me from his cell phone within an hour! Never has a dentist called me from their cell phone in my life! He wanted to find out what happened and schedule the first available time on Monday. I was terrified it couldn’t be fixed or would cost thousands put he numbed me up, drilled a hole, put in a post, and filed my crown to fit in under an hour! Looks like nothing bad ever happened and cost half as much as the temporary plate that broke! Dr. Markle is an amazing dentist and his staff is excellent! Afsaneh was amazing at explaining what I would have to pay after insurance, was very honest about treatment options, and has now gone to bat with an old dental office that wouldn’t release my implant records. Everyone there treats you like you’re family and I’m referring them to everyone I know. My boyfriend went in yesterday for the first time and was blown away by how amazing his experience was as well. Thank you Dr. Markle and staff

Dr. Markle fit me in one day on a moments notice when I had excruciating tooth pain.  Meeting a dentist for the first time when you are in an emergency situation can be very stressful and scary.  I know people that have been going to Dr Markel for years and I trusted their recommendation.  I had developed some anxiety over the dentist over the past few years and he took great care of me.   I’ve never had nitrous gas at the dentist before and it certainly distracts from the anxiety!!  Dr Markle and his staff have been professional and used top notch technology to diagnose and explain what needs to be done with my teeth.  I have a great time when I visit there and actually look forward to it now!  It is a bit expensive and Afsaneh in billing let me know that right off the top, but I feel like I am getting the best care so it’s worth it to me.  Afsaneh also helps me figure out my insurance which is a subject I just can’t wrap my head around.

Dr Markle has been my dentist for fifteen years.   His entire staff is easy to work with. When I have needed addtional work done, Afasani has provided a cost breakdown on what the insurance will cover.   Leslie is professtional and above all very accomodating when there has been a need to change an appointment or get in on a moment’s notice due to an emergency.  Katrina my dental hygienist takes extra steps to insure the cleaning/examination is throughly done, it always feels great no pain. A few years back I did need to discuss an issue that I felt needed to be escalated, Dr Markle listened to my concern and it was resolved quickly and professionally.  This is why the 5 star rating. Thanks Dr Markle!

Great dentist with excellent bed side manner and a very people oriented staff. I felt like more Than just another patient when I went to go see them. My teeth needed a lot of work. Dr Markle gave me a new implant and aligned my teeth. I now have a new smile because of him. He also has a good network. He recommended a specialist within his network when I needed to get multiple implants…which was a much more complicated procedure. Best dentist I ever had.

My little saying when I walk in and out of Dr Markle’s office ….(cue cheesy music and smile) “Dr Markle, will make your teeth SPARKLE!!!” Ok, ok…I know I am a dork. BUT….for those of you who are terrified of the dentist and his sharp buzzing toolage, look no further. Dr Markle’s staff is friendly, professional, patient and excellent at what they do. From the hygenists, to the financial consultant, to the receptionist. Your questions are answered honestly and without hesitation. You never feel like you’re waiting to get scraped and fluridated (is that how you spell it??) I have to amdit, it has been over 6 months since I have been back(eeks!…did I just share too much?? Perhaps…but my teeth are still sparkly)..but not because they aren’t fantastic about reminding you to come in and maintain your pearly whites. The office is hip, modern and I love watcing the videos of those dental makeovers where people with 2 teeth in the back, suddenly get a mouth full of molars.

There are so many players on my dental team, but my journey to jaw reconstruction started here and had it not been for Dr. Markle, I wouldn’t  be recovering with my new jaw and bite now. I’ve been a patient for about 8 years now and it was clear from the beginning that I had major dental “issues”. Having insurance at the time that considered jaw surgery “cosmetic” combined with finances of being a full-time student prevented and delayed the process of my journey to jaw surgery. Dr. Markle was very sympathetic to this and over the course of 8 years, Dr. Markle kept me going until I could start the process During my initial consultation, he immediately removed the residue from previous braces and bands remaining from my first round of braces. To boost my self esteem, he immediately did some modified orthodontic work to close the gap between my two front teeth and was the first orthodontist to identify that my gap would never close without a frenectomy, which he did immediately. The office worked with me on a payment plan. As the years passed he dealt with my dental problems as they arose and continued with gentle reminders, that jaw surgery needed to be done. I always looked forward to my visits to his office. The staff are all so incredibly sweet and caring, and very skilled. I even got a bottle of champagne once on my birthday:) I trusted his office so much, that when I moved to S. Cal for a year I continued to fly back for my cleanings. Having dental work done here is as close to a spa experience as you’re going to get. The environment is serene and lovely. The office has a direct view of the SF bay and this is your view during dental care. Before treatment, you are offered an ipod or headphones for your own mp3 player. The ultimate goal here is patient comfort so nitrous gas is given and used generously until you are on cloud 9! Katrina did my cleanings and always did and AMAZING job!!! Alas, my condition progressed as we knew it would and I had to be referred out. Dr. Markle referred me to an amazing orthodontist well seasoned in jaw surgery cases, who was also financially reasonable. He also referred me to my surgeon, who literally changed my life. I moved on to a Periodontist for my cleanings. During my time away, Dr. Markle stayed in the loop and consulted with the rest of the team as issues arose. Although I hadn’t seen Dr. Markle in a year, I visited him the day before my jaw surgery to say hello and he was the first one to see my new jaw after my surgery. I don’t know who was more excited about the results, me or him, lol. As soon as my jaw is healed and the orthodontic work is completed I can’t wait to get back to his office for the finishing touches and finally getting that million-dollar smile I’ve always wanted. Thank you Dr. Markle and Team!!!!!!!!!!

I first went to Dr. Markle back in 2005 where he cleaned up the splinters left behind from the 4 teeth that I let rot out because of all the methamphetamines that I used to use.  First procedure went perfectly. On November 1st of this year, after being clean from drugs 4 months, I went back to Dr. Markle to have 3 bridges, 10 crowns, two fillings, and one root canal completed.  Of course, Leslie was there in the front office to greet me with a bottle of mint water and she was as sweet as I remember her being from two years ago. Because my work hours are not very flexible, and the fact that my insurance has a yearly deductible of $1000.00, and also the fact that I was really excited about getting my teeth fixed and wanted to get the work done immediately, Dr. Markle was faced with some tough scheduling demands and yet he delivered.  I had a root canal done that very day along with full mouth x-rays.  The following Tuesday I returned to begin phase 2 of 3 phases, and on Wednesday of the same week, the third phase was complete.  All my crowns were placed in my mouth two weeks later; the bite was adjusted on the same day.  And I now can eat tortilla chips again. When I read the reviews from a couple other patients regarding the financial manager, Afsane, and her up-front financial demands, I sort of had to laugh.  Honestly now, I don’t know of any dentist that doesn’t demand payment up front.  This is standard operating procedure.  And if you think Dr. Markle’s pricing is too high…….don’t be stupid, go get a second opinion!  I got one.  The totals from both estimates were almost identical I explained to the staff and the doctor that I was a recovering meth addict but they still treated me with dignity and respect; and they made me feel right at home.   The staff didn’t seem to hold any judgements against me regarding my past. The dental hygenist took time and care in explaining sugar as well as acids are bad for my teeth.  I’ve since begun drinking far more water, I got a sonic care tooth brush (as she suggested) and i use prevident every night to strengthen the enamel on my teeth that have softened over time from using meth and drinking sodas. If you go to Dr. Markle for dental work, when they hand you an IPOD and fit your ears with head phones, make sure you select Dr. Markle’s personal favorites to listen to.  The sequence of songs are a blast and a trip once the nitrous oxide starts flowing into your nostrils.   You may even find yourself laughing a bit while all the work is being done.  Both of his assistants, Kiki and Tina are very nice and attentive.   They might even ask you if you would like to sit up for a second if your laughing becomes hysterical.   Dr. Markle is my guy for dental work, and I’ve been to a lot of dentists in the past.  In my opinion, he is the best.

I first saw Dr. Markle about a year ago on the recommendation of a colleague. I had to get a fair bit of work done: regular cleaning, and then I came back for 2 crowns and got some fillings replaced. They were AWESOME! I didn’t realize how much I hated the dentist’s until I had the reverse experience with Dr. Markle. The staff are all knowledgeable and competent. I could improve on my flossing, I know, but they never make me feel bad for not doing it — they continuously encourage me to take baby steps of improvement. (Hey, it works for dog training… 🙂 )  Instead of scolding me for only flossing x frequently, they say “okay, that’s a good start! now try to do it a little more often.” It’s Psych 101, but better than other dentists have done. Also, they will gas you up with N2O. I’d never had it before, clinically or otherwise, and though it made me a bit nauseous it worked. I didn’t care a fig about whatever they were doing to my teeth; I was totally relaxed as they put in 2 crowns and replaced a couple of other really old fillings. Finally, they encourage you to bring & wear an iPod for anything major; you’re just tuned out, staring out the window at the beautiful Coit Tower / SF Bay views while they do crazy stuff to your teeth. They’re very email-enabled and have awesome technology + good documentation. I’m impressed with how smoothly their office runs. Also, they always make a point to call me by name; I feel like something more than just another bunch of teeth. I agree with the reviewers who mention that you’ll receive a fair bit of pressure to get cosmetic dentistry treatments. They definitely go for the upsell. That said, I’ve known for several years I wanted Invisalign, so it didn’t bother me too much to have them bring it up. (Just got ’em yesterday, incidentally.) Note: Be ON TIME for your appointments. They run like a Swiss train. I’m a chronically late person; if you’re more than about 2 minutes late, they call you to see where you’re at. On the upside, that means that when you are there, you never wait past your appointment time. The elevators in the 450 Post building can take *forever* to get up to the 19th floor; there’s no sorting and apparently no one takes the stairs, so you can stop on 10 or 12 floors out of the 19 up to the office, as happened to me yesterday. Yuck.

After many years of avoiding the dentist, I finally decided that it was time to deal with the anxiety and have things fixed. As it turns out, none of the anxiety was necessary and if I had known about Dr. Markle and his staff years ago, I wouldn’t have waited this long. The entire experience – from the office waiting room to the staff to the procedures themselves – were about as far from what I somehow feared they would be. They were very direct and up front with me. We discussed what I wanted to get out of treatment, what it would cost and how I wanted to proceed. They were very accommodating to all of my requests and needs. Dr. Markle called to see how I was doing after every procedure and when things didn’t go quite according to plan, he was available to talk and when I needed to come in for an emergency follow-up, the response was “can you come now?” Before I went, I didn’t want anyone to notice my teeth. Now I hope they do. I look forward to many visits and can’t thank them enough for what they did

I’ve been going to see Dr. Markle and his staff for many years. I’m not sure what took me so long to write a review because he truly is an artist with an impeccable eye for detail, high aesthetic standards, excellent technical skills and state of the art craftsmanship. You will feel at ease as soon as he greets you because he’s the type of person who will explain everything to you and genuinely cares about your experience–especially your dental health, hygiene, and, the ability to give you the confidence and positive self-image when you smile knowing that you have been served by the best.

After moving to San Francisco, my wife and I were searching for a dentist and we decided on Dr. Markle based on strong recommendations from several colleagues.   We are both very satisfied with Dr. Markle as he is an excellent dentist. I am surprised about the negative reviews posted on Yelp as this was not our experience.  We were told up front what the costs would be, the amount to be covered by insurance and the out of pocket amount.  When additional work was suggested, it was done as a recommendation with absolutely no pressure.  We were provided with sufficient information to make an informed decision. Final costs never exceeded what was quoted. Both my wife and I found the entire staff to be professional, courteous and top notch.  We are both very pleased with Dr. Markle and his practice and would recommend him to anyone who is seeking a new dentist.

I started going to Dr. Markle when I was in in school and had dental insurance through my school.  They took great care me during that time and NEVER tried to “sell” me stuff that I did not need.  And now that I am working, and have no insurance, I still go to them for their attentive staff, great dentistry, and all the latest technology they use.  I am not sure why there is any bad reviews for this office.  I have sent 2 of my friends there and they too love Dr. Markle and his staff.  After reading the bad reviews I understand it always comes down to paying ones bill that upsets people.  But for any thing else we use or buy we have to pay, so what is the problem?  I recommend this office 100%. They have saved my teeth and made it possible with their payment plans for me to get the work I needed done. Just like anything else there are always cheaper places to go to, but if you want great service, kind and professional staff and experience doctor then this is the office for you to go to and know you are in good hands.

I recently changed jobs and was not familiar with a DDS covered by my new plan. I had 3 days of throbbing jaw pain (from a pesky Wisdom tooth) and was able to make an emergency appointment with Markle do be seen first thing in the morning. The receptionist and dental hygienist were very friendly and welcoming. I was seen right away and DDS Markle, after performing a thorough assessment, recommended I had the wisdom tooth removed. It was a simple and quick procedure (35 min) and when it was over I felt incredible relief from my pain. I never felt pressured to get services or treatment I didn’t need and look forward for my follow up appointment next week. Great and kind DDS who I really felt cared about my dental health and what I was able to do with my insurance provider.

Wishing Yelp had 10 stars to give this man! Due to life circumstances, no insurance and an extreme phobia, I’ve not had any dental care in about 25 years! Circumstances have improved dramatically and I now have insurance (and the phobia). I was terrified but in a great deal of pain and the pain won out! Dr. Markle came highly recommended and I understand why… From the moment I first entered his office, his fabulous staff recognized my fear and in a very soothing, but not condescending way, began to reassure me that all would be well. AND IT WAS!  Dr. Markle and his staff have never made me feel embarrassed or ashamed by the lack of care my teeth have received… just very supported and I leave the office feeling like a rock star! I still have work to be done, but it’s getting easier and easier and I’m so excited that finally I will have a pretty smile I can be proud of! Thank you Dr. Markle and staff, your gentle kindness is so appriciated!

I first found Dr. Markle last year after I knocked several of my front teeth out in a biking accident. After getting impressions and having temporaries placed by a couple of sub par dentists, I decided to search harder for a top rate cosmetic dentist and was referred to Dr. Markle. After my first appointment with him I could tell he would be able to restore my mouth to its former look and feel. He made impressions of my mouth, placed temporaries and used very high tech software to show me how my teeth would look when he was done with all the procedures. Being able to see what the final product would look like before having all of the work done was a reassurance I was not able to get from any other cosmetic dentist I consulted with. The remaining appointments with Dr. Markle flew by and a year later, my mouth feels and looks better than ever. I have not had any breaking or chipping and he matched the color of the implants perfectly to my other teeth. He was able to do all of this work with the least amount of pain and minimal cost to me. I would recommend him and his staff to anyone looking to improve or fix the appearance of their teeth. When it comes to cosmetic procedures, you get what you pay for, and Dr. Markle provides the highest quality of dentistry!

I have been going to Dr. Markle for years and feel he is a top rate dentist. Since going to Dr. Markle, I have had Invisalign clear braces ( to correct teeth that moved after I had regular braces as a teenager), whitening, and an implant placed. The implant is flawless, has not moved since he put it in (about 6 years ago) and is not distinguishable from my other teeth. Definitely top quality work. Before going to Dr. Markle I did not know I even needed an implant and he explained very clearly why one would be necessary or my teeth would move again after the Invisalign as they did with the braces. 6 years later, my teeth are still perfectly straight and I owe that to Dr Markle and his team! On a superficial note…the office is beautiful with amazing views of the city and he has very cool up to date technology. He can “show” you what needs to be done to your teeth rather than just telling you. The staff is always very courteous and I have never had any problems with their billing practices.

I am a new patient of DR Markle. Thus far I am very pleased. DR Markel is Personable and Professional. These two attributes are extremely important to me. My feeling, …..Even though ( it is a given) we are conducting business; I NEED TO KNOW, my opinion and my feelings count for something more than just an exchange of money and services. For the work done so far, I am very pleased. The scheduling of appointments is easy and very accommodating. Trust me, This is an honest testimony from the heart. My natural smile was one of my best facial assets. I was given compliments on my smile for as long as I can remember. Because of an unfortunate accident, my teeth were shattered. My smile, confidence, and self-esteem, disappeared overnight. That was the beginning of a “Real Daytime Nightmare”. I never knew the negative impact of sporting around messed up teeth could have on One’s life. The reality of Not being able to chew properly, enjoy dining out or the comfort of being able to engage in day to day conversation can weigh heavy on one’s self-esteem. .More importantly, to have the feeling of shame when smiling, or laughing out loud, is a sad place to live. Since working with DR Markel, and seeing the results of his artistic and skillful abilities, Finally, I am beginning to feel confident and strong again. I am Ready to Live and Laugh out Loud once again In My Life. For that Blessing alone I am Grateful.

I have been a patient of Dr Markle for 25 years and completely am upset about the recent bad reviews. They seem to mostly stem from money issues where the customer did not want pay at the end of their treatment and blamed the office manager for dupping up new charges. I find this very petty and cowardly as Dr Markle and his staff have always handled my treatment and insurance with the utmost professionalism. I guess some people just cannot be made happy and have to yelp about the small stuff instead of the good stuff. I also feel the he is one of the best Premier Provider Invisalign dentists in town as reported on www.Invisalign.com

Absolutely WONDERFUL! I stumbled upon Dr. Markle’s office about 4 years ago when I came here for school. My visit then and up until just recently have been a real pleasure! This says a lot being that I am not one to enjoy going to the dentists office. The professionalism of the staff and the high tech equipment was great! Everyone was extremely polite and were always making sure I was as comfortable as possible!  I have always been afraid or ashamed to smile. I have struggled with poor genetics for my teeth my entire life. Dr. Markle and his staff performed miracles and gave me the most beautiful smile ever! I have never smiled with my teeth for photos ever and have always been teased about this. I now smile with pride and have received so many compliments on my amazing smile. I couldn’t be happier and I have Dr, Markle and staff to thank for this. I HIGHLY recommend this office to anyone! It really is a pleasure to go into the office and see everyone and the work is professional.

I originally wrote this review on 2/6/2019 with a 1 star review. Since then Dr Markle has made enormous efforts to get in touch with me and address my concerns. He did not give me money or offer free services to change my review, we had a sensible conversation where he conveyed compassion and regret while addressing my concerns. I am changing this review because I adore Dr. Markle and his staff and I do want to keep coming back. If you are looking for a great dentist, Dr Markle is your man. Don’t let my one bad experience in 4 years completely deter you. I’ve left my encounter with Afsaneh intact below. As of writing Afsaneh is still the office manager. You should have Leslie manage you account, who is one of the friendliest and nicest people you’ll ever meet. My original review is left unedited below. —- Dr Markle is absolutely fabulous. Leslie is a gem, and all the hygienists and techs are beyond fantastic. Despite that, Afsaneh made me so unbelievably mad today. I’ve been going to this place for years, I had my invisalign done here, had what is approaching 12 cavity fillings, and had a root canal done. I’ve paid out of pocket for things that my insurance screwed me on. I never asked for a payment adjustment, a payment plan, or otherwise tried to not pay the full amount as asked. Prior to today, which was no problem at all, I rescheduled on short notice a total of three (might be two, I’m not sure if Afsaneh was including today) hygiene appointments in 4 years of coming here. I’ve paid this place AT LEAST five thousand dollars in that time. I’m being extremely conservative here because I don’t remember all the bills, but I do remember at least this much. I missed my hygiene appointment yesterday because I was throwing up. I’ve had medical issues the last few months and sometimes I throw up in the morning. I felt terrible yesterday but started getting ready for my appointment anyway. During that process I threw up and I realized there was no way I could actually go sit in a chair and have somebody stick things in my mouth. I called as soon as I wiped the vomit from my mouth, and I was asked if I could come in today at 1pm instead, no problem. I go to my appointment at 1pm and everything is fine until I have to pay. While Afsaneh is showing me a bill estimate for about $2800 for procedures recommended by Dr Marke. Of which about $2200 was not going be paid by insurance. That’s fine, my doctor explained how it was important, and I was balking at the cost but I definitely hadn’t said no. I value my teeth and the health that comes with good dental hygiene. As she shows me this bill, she makes a face and says “We have to charge you for the appointment you missed yesterday.” I wouldn’t normally care, except somehow they had a available slot just over 24 hours from my original appointment at 1pm today. You would think that if they have the availability they weren’t losing money from my missed appointment because I just filled an otherwise empty spot. This is combined with the fact I have spent so much goddamn money here. I tell Afsaneh I don’t think I should pay it because I did the responsible thing and not come in after vomiting, combined with the fact I’ve been coming here for years. There’s also a part of me that resents her for even bringing it up when she knows my insurance is completely screwing me on this new estimate she showed me! For $2800 ***I*** was going to pay. Afsaneh goes on to be so judgmental I am in complete disbelief. She goes to look up how many times I’ve previously “broken” appointments. I detest this language in this context, I’ve reschedule my appointments on short notice for the practice, but that’s not “breaking” the appointment from their end, apparently. She sees its happened before and throws this in my face. She berates me for missing the appointment and patronizingly tells me she’s trying to run a business. I don’t want to make this personal but I’ve seen the jewelry you wear Afsaneh, this isn’t just making ends meet and paying rent. There is a long conversation here I’m not going to rehash, but Afsaneh’s complete lack of bedside manner and human empathy is shocking. She finally cedes when she realizes that I am adamant about not paying for it. I am in complete disbelief, to a point where I finally had enough. I figured out after my last appointment I had a positive balance Afsaneh never told me about. I asked for a refund of the positive balance, and that’s when Afsaneh realized she messed up. She tried to placate me about how she hopes things haven’t “gone to a place” but I’m so mad all I can do is give her a death stare. It is beyond comprehension to me that Afsaneh can berate and belittle me for my conduct in this business relationship and ACTIVELY OBFUSCATE THAT I HAVE A POSITIVE BALANCE. I’ve never burned a bridge with a medical office but if there ever were a time to this is it. I don’t think I’m coming back so long as Afsaneh is here.

I have never felt so loved and cared-for at the dentist. The skill-level, equipment and facilities are thoroughly modern, comfortable and state-of-the-art. The entire staff are highly-skilled, knowledgeable, friendly, and genuinely seem to enjoy what they do! I needed some major work done and it was completed way beyond my expectations! It took a lot less time than I had expected and the results have been amazing. I am driving my friends crazy waxing poetic about my dental experience but it truly was life-changing. I highly-recommend Dr. Markle. I didn’t know going to teh dentist could be this “warm and fuzzy”.

I highly recommend Dr. Markle! He and his team have been extremely helpful in the all around transformation of my teeth and dental health.  I came to Dr. Markle about 5 years ago because I wanted to get Invisalign. I was also dealing with Periodontal issues as well and Dr. Markle came up with a flexible plan to start my Invisalign while also assisting in getting me started with my Perio issues as well.  He even worked with me to get my wisdom teeth out, and that was no small task, but he did an excellent job and has a wonderful “chair side” manner.   I want to personally thank Dr. Markle and all the staff in San Francisco!   I am 100% satisfied and recommend you to any new patients with confidence. Keep up the great work!

The Never Ending Implant Saga (part II)  Once there was a girl who had moved very far away from her family to the enchanting lands of San Francisco. There she lost two of her fake teeth to the dark depths of its sewer system. Lo and behold! Dr. Markle was there to save the day with his wonderful staff and excellent technique. With her new adornment of two new teeth, she then traveled to the desert for further soul searching. Fast forward a year and one half to her mouth full of dismay when her unruly gums and bone were protesting one of the implants. Seeking knowledge of her situation she went to a strange man in the desert armed with pointy metal objects. Alas, her gums and bone had started to retaliate against one of her implants! After a surgery with the addition of more bone, the armed man wanted her first born child and a leg to then do a procedure that he could not guarantee would work (which would then lead to replacing both implants,  requiring payment of the remanning limbs). She, after the barrage of information, and having a breakdown in the parking lot, called Dr. Markle and relayed her predicament. He then called the man in the desert and defended her honor, deciphering the cryptic and expensive work order to reveal the truth; only a bone graft was needed from him. Dr. Markle told the girl that if she could get to San Francisco after the bone graft, he would then fix her implant FOR FREE. Never had she heard such a wondrous thing in all her life! Again, fast forward though the Thanksgiving snowstorm that almost took her and the mighty little trucks life, driving for 17 hours on icy roads though the stormy night to land her at Dr, Markle’s office. He then proceeded to pull out all of the stops in aiding her ailed implant. Within three days she had the damaged implant removed, a temporary retainer made, and a new tooth fashioned, so that she could be back at work in time to avoid the otherwise impeding doom. It felt to her as if the entire building was pulling upon the strings of heaven and earth to help her. Who would do such a thing for such a lowly wandering nobody? Dr. Markle, that’s who. The End (hopefully, anyway) to the Implant Saga Epilogue: I have nothing but the greatest thanks to everyone in Dr. Markle’s office who has helped me through this painstaking journey. No one wishes to be in my shoes when it comes to my teeth, but when it comes to the people I have met, it makes them think twice.

After checking yelp for the highest recommended dentist in the city (and of course having a new, kick-ass insurance plan) I made an appointment from the comforts of my home on the web (why hasnt anyone thought of this before… Brilliant!).  My entire appointment was pure bliss filled with the touches of people who really care and uphold the utmost professionalism.  All of the tools are cutting edge and they take the time to explain everything they are doing.  I actually learned a lot by going to the dentist.   Another huge bonus is that they are liberal with the gas!  wha wha wha!  Bringing a new meaning to Journey’s “Wheel in the sky.”  I literally thought that I was seeing a pin wheel slowly rotating when I was in the dentist chair and to boot I was tripping out to classics from the Eagles and Journey on the ipod they hooked me up to.  Incredible!   I am a huge fan of Dr. Markle and think he is an excellent dentist who does outstanding work.  Oh yeah… did I mention the view..

My (EX)girlfriend found Dr. Markle while watching a segment on KRON. I was skeptical at first, but wanted to give him a shot. I’d been to several dentists over the years…and since I did not have dental insurance, I was worried about the cost. Yes, they are a few blocks from Union Square which makes parking a challenge ($$) but they more than make up for that in service. Dr. Markle (and his entire staff) is the best dentist I have ever gone to. The atmosphere is upscale, pleasant and warm. Dr. Markle himself is a very nice guy. He answers direct questions…directly. I appreciate his candor and expertise. Their equipment is state-of-the-art. (Who doesn’t want to get an email with animation of their teeth?) The woman who cleaned my teeth both times was very gentle and efficient. I always felt very informed of what was going on and what was expected to happen. — Thank you for the gas! I got a deep cleaning and a few fillings done over the past two months. I told them I was sensitive to pain and that usually when I go to the dentist, I have to endure…but I had the most pleasant experience ever at the dentist. My fillings healed quickly and without the usual discomfort I’d experienced in the past. (Man, this guy is fast. And good. Everyone is so very friendly and address you on a first-name basis. It’s true that I’ve paid more than I have at other dentists, but they are so very worth it. You really get top-notch service. When it comes to a dentist (like any medical profession) you shouldn’t make your opinions based on cost alone. Dr. Markle is worth every penny. Even without insurance. I now have Invisalign through Dr. Markle and I never got the “car salesman” pitch from them. They told me the facts, gave me numbers and let me figure out what was best. I never felt any pressure from anyone at the office to do more than I needed or than I could afford. I can’t say enough good things about Dr. Markle and his staff. You will not be disappointed.

I have been seeing Dr. Markle for years. He is a great dentist and really knows his way around the mouth. The office is pricey but you get what you pay for – excellent care. Okay, so now I have to rave about Catrina – the dental hygienist. She is amazing. She is the most gentle hygienist I have ever had. She doesn’t shove her hands down your throat like some hygienists do and scour away at your teeth. She gently and thoroughly cleans your teeth and offers you advice on ways to improve your oral hygiene. She is extremely sensitive and if she sees even the start of a wince, she checks in with you to see what’s going on. I cannot recommend her enough. I am not a dentalphobe but she could calm the most nervous patient. Finally, I want to compliment Leslie who greets you when you arrive and checks you out of the office when you leave. Leslie is amazing! She greets you with a big, beautiful smile and handles the front desk with grace under pressure. She’s helping the patients, handling the phones and computers and manages to keep her composure. She’s a peach! Overall, I have been extremely happy with Dr. Markle and his staff. They have the latest technology and provide great dental care.

Dr. Markle is the best dentist in SF.   Not only that but he was also dentist to the stars around here, like Alex Bennett.   I found Dr. Markle in the yellow pages (and one day when I went in, after I signed in (this was before, when you had to sign in, I did see Alex Bennett’s name there, mind you this is YEARS ago!).   Anyways, I can remember when Dr. Markle had hair and looked like my cousin Mike Novak.  So there was an immediate rapport, he looked like my family. I was really impressed with him.  He’s pretty much had the same staff for years on end.  His secretary has been with him for years, and Katrina the dental hygienist has been with him since the beginning – well since I’ve been going there. Anyways, I got married, to a Brit, who was frightened of dentists, and I kept urging my husband to go to see him.  So we finally had double appointments, and my husband, after a few years of being with Dr. Markle told him that he “trusted” him as a dentist!  Pretty impressive! Dr. Markle always has the latest greatest dental technology, and I think he’s really into that, so, whatever dental technology out there that is good, he’s usually up on it. My last visit (about a week or so ago), he had this small pencil looking camera and “took a tour” of my mouth, and you got to see it onscreen!  Wow!   Of course I’ve been flossing and brushing, and Katrina was impressed I highly recommend Dr. Markle, and though we moved out of the city, I will still go back and as far as I know, we’re going to keep him as our dentist and go back to SF to see him.

I love Dr. Markle and he’s a dentist. Seriously, I am terrified of the dentist. I have to go under anesthesia to have a lot of drilling done. (They were replacing all my old fillings). He is very understating of fears surrounding the dentist and didn’t hesitate to offer to do it while I was out. Apparently I still made weird noises while completely out so you can imagine why other dentists said they wouldn’t work with me. The staff is very nice and sweet and made sure I had a blanket and was warm and watched until my ride got there. When I go for checkups they are understanding and patient of my nervousness, and give you iPods and magazines and a view of coit tower to distract yourself from the unpleasantness. Plus, for more scary procedures you can get a wonderful pill that will knock you right out. You feel all dreamy and relaxed and really really don’t care that you are in fact in a dentist office. It really does take a minute to get over the shock that you don’t care. The less I remember of each visit, the less nervous I am every time I go. Really, they are the best, have a gorgeous office, do beautiful work and really make you feel cared about. Thanks Dr. Markle! p.s. I know there was a complaint about billing and getting refunds, but insurance companies take FOREVER to get through the claims processing. This is one of the reasons dentists and doctors charge upfront in the first place. Once I established my insurance with Dr. Markle, however, I stopped having to pay upfront. They knew how many services I was entitled, and how much was the negotiated cost.

The Dr. Markle Experience – Dr. Markle is my savior.  He has done a lot of work for me in the last four years with great results.  I can actually say I look forward to going to the dentist now.  I schedule my four yearly cleanings in January so I’m covered for the rest of the year.  Dr. Markle’s team is friendly, caring and efficient.  If you are nervous (I know I used to be!) they are very comforting and offer you options, such as “the pill”, music on headphones, and gas, depending on the treatment you are receiving.  Katrina, my Dental Hygienist, reminds me to brush at least twice a day and floss and was so happy when she heard I gave up “cold turkey” drinking soda and Snapple (beverages with evil HFCS – High-Fructose Corn Syrup) that she tried to give gave me *another* free toothbrush. I reminded her that I have the Sonicare so I passed on her kind offer.  On their website, you can make an appointment, pay your bill and view your dental history/records.  Dr. Markle’s team is Highly Recommended!
