My first visit was the best dental visit I’ve had. This office has good vibes. Most importantly Dr. Appelle was very knowledgeable and explained everything thoroughly. He is very informative and always more then willing to answer any questions or concerns. I am truly impressed. This office is fast and efficient. I was able to address my previous concerns and felt comfortable. Savannah is awesome! Very professional explained what I was about to have done. She was super upbeat, positive and funny. With my high anxiety I was quickly able to relax. All of the staff is very friendly and made my visit feel personalized. They have gained my trust. Highly recommended!

I had the most pleasant experience with Dr. Appelle’s office, both today during my appointment, and beforehand, coordinating with the lovely receptionist, Lucy. When I first made an appointment on ZocDoc, I had not updated my insurance. She touched base with me and we got it straightened out. Then I had to change my appointment several times, which she was very accommodating about. Lucy is very sweet and friendly and certainly made the process as easy as it possibly could be. Neli did an exceptional job cleaning my teeth and was very honest/helpful about flossing techniques, as well as which toothbrush/toothpaste is best to purchase. I saw Dr. Appelle after my cleaning, and he looked at my x-rays, told me my teeth looked great, and sent me on my way. I really appreciated the fact that this office is not cosmetic–they didn’t tell me all the things wrong with the appearance of my teeth as other dentists have in the city. I am really glad I switched to this office.

Dr. Appelle is much better than my current dentist. He explained very carefully to me to make sure I fully understand my teeth problem. Lots of other dentists only want to use all patients insurance money,but Dr. Appelle cares the patient much more than money. I believe lots of people using other dentists got over treatment due to the structure of dental insurance. Dr. Appelle should be the best choice if you want professional/reasonable treatment and better dental visit experience. He is the best that I have even seen in my life, and his smile is very warm.

I give Dr. Appelle and his team my highest recommendation. I had Dr. Appelle as a dentist for 10 years when I was working and living in NYC. I was offered a job and another city and never was able to find a dentist with the experience, warm bedside manner, and TRUST that I had developed with Dr. Appelle. My teeth have unfortunately been damaged because of my diabetes and history as a bulimic. I have had to have numerous trips to the dentist to save, repair, and fix various issues and problems that developed over time. When other dentists saw my teeth, many recommended pulling teeth and.or other drastic treatments. Dr. Appelle took the time to SAVE my teeth and thereby give me confidence in my dental care, treatment, and ongoing maintenance and repair. Last year I moved from the West Coast to Washington, DC. After some shaky and disappointing experiences with several Dentists in Washington, DC — I decided to return to Dr. Appelle’s care. This was the best decision I made in my entire life!!!!! He continued his honest appraisal of my dental needs and emailed me detailed recommendations of what care was needed now and in the 12 months. Dr. Appelle is the first dentist that I have had that provided me with a written evaluation of my dental needs. After my evaluation visit and cleaning, I returned to have 2 crowns put on my back two teeth. These 2 crowns were permanently cemented today. In summary, I give Dr. Appelle my highest recommendation and deepest thanks. His team is first rate. Prior to leaving, Dr.. Appelle indicated if I have any problems whatsoever with the crowns (due to settling in – which is natural), I could drop by anytime for any adjustments if I felt these were needed.

Dr. Appelle has earned my family’s trust and thanks. Let me explain. I first visited Dr. Appelle in 1995, more than 20 years ago. He is honest, up to date with the latest dental technology, and explains issues and problems with teeth clearly. I like that he provides many options for treatment and explains the pros and cons of each procedure. Sometimes over the past 20 years I have been fortunate to have two dental insurance plans. Dr. Appelle’s office expertly coordinated those insurance plans, answered our questions, and kept us informed of the status of insurance payments. I last visited Dr. Appelle about 1 year ago. I now live outside of Washington, DC but needed a 2nd opinion. I knew Dr. Appelle was the “go to” person. I recall I had an appointment on Veteran’s Day in 2015. There is a military citation in the patient hallway. That citation commended Dr. Appelle for his service in the US Army during Vietnam, where he performed dental surgery, restoration, cleanings, and filled cavities. Some of these tasks were performed very close to the front lines. Dr. Appelle is honest, straightforward, well connected within the dental industry, personable, and flexible. He earns my highest recommendation!

I love Dr. Appelle, for many reasons, not only he’s extremely good at what he does, he’s also very tentative. When he’s with you, you have his 100% attention. He doesn’t rush you Out of his office. He will take time this really explain his procedures. One of my teeth needs crown, second time I went back there he asked me how I felt, I said ” good enough”, he said “good enough” is not enough, had to be just right. I appreciated that he would rather have me go back to him 3 times to make sure that my temp crown fits me just perfect. I highly recommend Dr. Appelle. He’s truly the best dentist I’ve known.

Dr. Appelle is the first dentist I have been to in years that’s made me feel 100% comfortable with my procedure. Context: I am hugely scared of the dentist. I avoided it for so long that I needed to get a root canal. Cue the anxiety! I was so nervous that I almost just got the tooth extracted, but Dr. Appelle assured me it wouldn’t be as bad as I thought. Turns out, it wasn’t bad at all. Whatever he did with the novocaine he did it so well that I felt nothing. I’m a crier, usually, and I barely flinched. They put on lovely music and helped me relax beforehand. On top of this, I need to have my dental work done in a very short period of time due to my insurance switch. Dr. Appelle was more than accommodating and has taken the time to fit me into his busy schedule to get my work done. If you’re a nervous patient, I highly recommend him and his team! They’re gentle, no BS, and kind.

Dr. Appelle and Nelli (hygienist) are professionals. Yes, I’ve had to wait as much as 40 mins to be seen, but it’s a dentist’s office, not a 5-star restaurant, so chill-out with the bad reviews about wait times. The person before you needed more attention and Dr, Appelle shouldn’t be expected to rush. Usually it’s 5-10 mins wait. I’ve had two root canals with Dr. Appelle, and he also had to fix a bad crown that my old dentist had botched, but left in my mouth. Dr. Appelle LITERALLY invented a way to keep a crown secure in your mouth (he has the patent) so he’s a brilliant guy who is very good at what he does. He also cares about his craft, and his patients, because he invests in state-of-the-art equipment to make sure his business is up to date. No complaints with Dr. Appelle or Nelli. Just be sure to communicate pain, discomfort, and anything else directly to them so they can address it immediately, which they will be happy to do. The experience is WAY better than my old dentist, so I’m sticking with Dr. Appelle as long as I work in Manhattan.

just had a follow up Cleaning. GREAT!!!! I was pleasantly surprised by my first visit to Dr. APPELL. From the minute I walked in I was greeted by very friendly receptionists. I had a teeth cleaning with the hygienist. It was the most pleasant experiance. The girl was so gentle and made me feel in complete confort. There was a short wait to see the doctor however, I had a very thorough exam with Dr. Appell. I usually don’t schedule my appointments in advance however I gladly booked my appointment for 6 months. It was a very pleasant experience. They have a beautiful office, with relaxing music and videos, which was quite impressive for a dental office! Dr. Appelle has been nothing but kind, patient, and professional with me for the many years that I have been going to him. Kind, courteous and always helpful. I’ve never had to wait long but as other reviewers have pointed out this is not a fast food chain, it’s personalized care and if something comes up with a patient before you on that day your appointment might run late. If YOU were in the chair and something came up would you want Dr. Appelle to say “Sorry, too bad so sad, gotta run!” Nelli (hygienist) is very skilled at cleaning your teeth and always presents herself with a smile. All in all I am very pleased with Dr. Appelle and the entire staff and will continue to put my dental care in their more than capable hands 🙂

BEST DENTIST EVER! While going to the dentist for an extraction is not at the top of my list, it does become necessary when I am in pain because of my teeth (or tooth). A colkeague at work recommended Dr Appelle, and i was able to get an emergency appountment (that in itself is nothing short of a miracle in this city). I was prepared to wait, since it was a last minute appointment and the nice receptionist just squeezed me in, but i dont think i had to wait more than ten minutes. I was happy to see that the office was beautiful and spanking clean. That made me feel comfortable. I mean, thats how you should feel in a dentusts office i would think I explained the cause of my concerns to Dr Appelle and he listened carefully. He explained to me that the tooth had to be extracted but he would give me a local anesthesia and to raise my hand if i was in any pain from the procedure It wasnt a quick procedure but i dont want to feel anyone is rushing either. Dr Appelle was gentle and thorough and i left knowing that i had put my trust in the right hands. I did raise my hand once and he stopped immediately to i think increase the level of anesthesia. Im not sure exactly what he did but i felt better after that. I was in a bit of pain when i got home so i called the office. He came to the phone right away and suggested i come in the following day if the pain persists. That alone was enough to make me feel better. Sure enough the pain started to subside and now it us early evening on the same day i got the procedure and am totally comfortable I see some of the reviews and while i feel everyone is entitled to their own opinion, i feel my review appropriately describes my experience. And by the way Dr Appelle has a fabulous dental hygienist. A consummate professional, and i can see why she picked that office to work in. Five stars and my gratitude to Dr Appelle and his wonderful caring sraff for making my pain go away. I recommend this office highly

I want to preface by saying that I NEVER write reviews. I almost didn’t go to this office because of one of the reviews I had read about the office and doctor, but I work in the building so I figured let me just go in for a consultation. I could not have been more pleased from the moment I walked in everyone was so nice and accommodating I waited less than 4 or 5 minutes before I was seated and the office is so modern and beautiful. I however am still so nervous, I am terrified of the dentist. In walks Dr. Appelle who looks at my xrays and explains I need 4 wisdom tooth extractions. He right away calmed me and assured it would be painless and it was. When he told me the first tooth was already out I was shocked!!!! I didnt feel a thing! Dr. Appelle is the best dentist ever I cant say enough about him thank you for making it painless!!! I really couldn’t have hoped to find a better dentist. Love Dr.Appelle I found my new dentist!!
