Dr Holyoak and his staff are always so very welcoming.   Starting with Jill at the front desk, all the dental hygienists, the  billing people and of course Doc H.   It is not a common thing to feel confidence that we are in no way might be getting fleeced, encouraged to get unnecessary treatments or more commonly, just being a number in a large practice. Every visit and with every member of the staff at Holyoak Dental, we always have a positive, friendly and competent interactions.

While on vacation my partner broke his front tooth, leaving a gapping space. We called and got a morning appointment. Scott Holyoak and his friendly and conscientious staff were amazing. His tooth was fixed permanently in 90 min and the staff coordinated with his dental insurance to cover more then half the bill. Their expertise and professionalism sets the bar. The office is beautiful and equipped with state of the art equipment and staff. Thank you Dr. Holyoak and staff.

Beware! I went in for a cleaning and was told to keep doing what I’m doing by the dental hygienist. I was in no pain, floss and use fluoride rinse every day. The dentist comes in and says I have 3 cavities that need to be filled and they are visible so we better take care of them now. I pay the couple hundred dollars and proceed to have my entire mouth numbed up. A week later and I’m still having nerve pain in all three areas where I had no pain before. I went back in and he said it looked fine and nothing he can do. That is unacceptable and frankly I question whether the fillings were even needed. He also tried to sell me on a $200 whitening treatment that I don’t need. This feels a lot like fraud to me. I’m now looking for a new dentist to fix this mistake and will not be going back to Holyoak again. I hope others can learn from my mistake and stay away!

I started going here because I needed a lot of work done and I do not like going to the dentist. It has been very hard for me to find a dentist with a schedule that was flexible enough for me. I do not plan to ever go to another dentist again. Dr. Holyoak is a great person as well as a good dentist. Everyone in the office has always been very nice and extremely helpful. I recommend this place to anyone that is looking for the best possible dental experience.

WOW!!! This place is amazing! I hadn’t been to the dentist in 20+ years, that’s scary enough. My teenage son broke a tooth that he had a massive cavity it. After calling around trying to find someone that could get him in the same day…and someone that I could actually understand, I landed back at the same office that my parents took me to, just all new people. What a relief!!! The staff was incredibly friendly and willing to accommodate all of our needs. My son ended up needing a root canal and they even got me in for a cleaning…yay! While I was sitting in the waiting room, very comfortable too I might add, another satisfied patient came out boasting about how happy he was and how great his teeth felt. Impressive I thought, especially when about 20 minutes later he returned with Jamba Juice for everyone. #Happy #BestDentistEver

Great dentist!  I had a tooth break and they got me in the same day…even as a new patient.  Dr Holyoak was veryfriendly, gentle and took care of business.  Tilly, at the desk, is probably the best I’ve ever seen. Glad I found a good local dentist at Encinitas Family Dentistry – so I can get my teeth back in top shiny shape.

After meeting with several other area dentists for my teenage son, we met with Dr. Holyoak to get help with a specific issue.  We needed a tooth extracted from his mouth, and he currently has braces.  Several others dentists who we had met with said it was too difficult, or they did not have the correct equipment.  When we met with Dr. Holyoak, he completed the procedure that same day with no problem whatsoever.  I am now bringing all three of my children to see him regularly.  Highly recommended.

I’m getting my crowns made to order right here, right now! No more temporary crowns needed! Great practice, great staff, great experience! As a follow-up, because I had so much pain afterwards due to sensitive teeth, the staff were nice enough to drop off a prescription for me at my home without making me coming to pick it up which was above and beyond the call of duty and something really rare to see these days, I have nothing but respect for these great kind folks.

My whole family has been going to Dr. Holyoak for years. Just yesterday I had yet another awesome experience (whoever says that about a dentists office). I needed a crown, had no pain at all, and then in just a little over an hour I was out the door with a new crown, never a temporary!!!! Dr. Holyoak is the best!!!!  He is very professional, always friendly, and I never ever had a bad experience!  Its one thing to have an awesome dentist but I always look forward going to my appointments because they also have a fantastic staff.  Each and every one of them, from receptionist to hygenist and everyone who works on my teeth are professional, kind and welcoming, and very thorough.  I wouldn’t go anywhere else!!!!!!!!!

I really appreciated the time and care spent on helping me. I am unusual in that I have long lasting effects from anesthesia. It means a lot to me to have a dentist that is comfortable about working on my mouth without anesthesia. I lost a very old crown and was truly afraid of looking for a new dentist after our dentist of 40 years retired. I am happy that we found Dr. Holyoak.

Yes yes yes. First, the front staff is super sweet and (seem) to love their jobs! If you don’t have great receptionist(s), your practice will not succeed. Well, compared to having awesome receptionists (kind,smiling(dentist hello),energetic…). Anywho, Dr. Holyoak’s assistant is great. Dental hygienist-great. They all have a great sense of humor and super kind. Dr.Holyoak himself is quick and effective and his personality is just the best. I came from Baltimore where the dentist was going to charge me $1,600 for fillings!!!! I moved to California and went to Dr. Holyoak who charged more than $1,000 less. Dentist can scan you in a heart beat if you’re a bit ignorant. Anywho, he’s the one to go to if you’re looking. You won’t be disappointed.

Really stellar in every way.  We’ve been patients here for the  last year, and it has been wonderful.  Agree with other posters that front desk (Kelly) goes over and above to accommodate schedules, and is extremely helpful and knowledgeable about insurance.   Dr. Holyoak is truly one of the most honest, talented dentists I’ve met.  Just yesterday had an experience that confirmed this opinion.  I had a cracked front tooth that my previous dentist told me would cost $6,300 to repair.  Instead, Dr. Holyoak was able to do both front teeth for a small fraction of that cost, and I know they’ll be beautiful.

There hasn’t been ANY dental experience I would care to even write about, that wasn’t in the red somehow, but.. Scott and his team are the epitome of efficient and ooze professionalism, so effortlessly. The new office is great! This place should be winning awards for BEST dental interior, ever!  Doctor Holyoak’s previous place was great too, in its own right, and cozy. But now.. Pff! Now, his new spot feels so polished to me, spacious and puts many (if not all, and I’ve sampled many different dentists from SD to San Marcos, from 99-present) places to shame! From one area to the next, I couldn’t help myself from saying, wow or very, very nice indeed! A Beeeeeeeautiful new location with a relaxing atmosphere and most importantly, clean. Who in their right mind looks forward to a dental visit? Well, your in luck, because THIS is the place! Highly recommended, twice!

I am a former patient of Dr. Holyoak and so glad I was able to make an appointment with him. He was just as kind and special as he was previously. His staff treated me very well and we actually laughed a few times which you don’t hear that often when you are at the Dentist. He will be my dentist as long as he is practicing. Thank you all for treating me special.

So nice to visit a dentist where you feel like you’re more with friends and family rather than a roomful of self-absorbed practitioners. Dr. Scott and the crew, as usual, make your visit enjoyable with the added bonus of making you feel like you are their ONLY patient. Colleen was fantastic in her cleaning duties. I’m stoked to have a dentist that treats patients with class. (Oops! Thought this was a YELP review) All true though!

I’ve had extensive work done by Dr. Holyoak and his team, that required several hours in multiple visits, and will be having more work done as I am able to. In spite of my fears, and limitations in having some of the work done without multiple, repeat breaks during the procedures, the Dr. and his team have been amazing. I can’t emphasize enough how grateful I am for the work done already.

Coming from out of state, it had been a while since I had gotten my teeth cleaned.  I didn’t really know where to go, but trusting fellow yelpers and reviews online I decided to give EFD a go.   I was pleasantly surprised with their professionalism and personable personalities as well.  My teeth were cleaned beautifully and they managed to make the appointment almost fun! 🙂 Thank you EFD for your care! I will be referring my boyfriend Noah to youfor his next cleaning!!! 🙂

Dr. Holyoak is truly the best dentist that I have ever had. He gave me veneers that look exactly like my teeth. I was amazed when he was done. Kathy is the best dental hygienist I have ever had. I feel like I have the cleanest teeth in town. From the time I walk in the door to be greeted by Kelly until I walk out the door , I feel that I have been cared for by top professionals. They are all truly amazing!!! I would not want to go anywhere else.  I gave them all five stars but I would give ten if I could. Other dental offices have treated me like a number but here I feel like a valuable person.

Dr. Holyoak and his staff have exceeded all my expectations. They are genuine, caring, and provide a level of excellent care that is, sadly, very hard to find these days. I can’t say enough thanks to Scott and his team… I had to post this VERY BIG THANK U to Scott coming in on his day off for my “emergency” broken tooth from surfing big waves in Nicaragua.  And of all things it’s my bday weekend with friends and dinners.  Needless to say, I was so sad.   Scott answered my call within minutes and met me right away to repair my smile and bring me back.   Scott you’re one of kind my man!  Highly recommended!  Thank you thank you thank you and I hope you don’t mind the “day off photo” Really a good guy!  Thanks so much!

Very happy with Dr. Holyoak.  He’s not pushy, he’s always happy and upbeat.  After braces, I took our teenage kids to Holyoak for Invisalign retainers.  These are very nice to have to keep the teeth straight and also use for occasional bleaching.  I also had a (minimal) 6-tray Invisalign treatment to slightly move crowding lower teeth.  Very happy with the results. Great regular dental care and nice office.

I can’t compliment this place enough. What a great experience. I am one of the rare few who actually love going to the dentist but Dr Holyoak and his staff are pretty incredible – even for those who fear dentist visits. Here’s why: 1. Easy Booking: It is super easy to book an appt using the online booking system. I never have time to call and this allows you to do it on your own time. It helps you find available times and then sends you reminders and confirmations. 2. Friendly staff: Never have I been in a office that is not only friendly to patients but to each other. You can tell they are a work family and appreciate each other. I love seeing that…esp when metal objects are scraping my teeth. It’s comforting. 🙂 3. Professionalism: These guys know what they are doing. The cleaning went smoothly and I was really happy with the results. I did opt to get a whitening kit but I was going to ask about it anyway. I don’t feel like I was pressured to buy anything or get any procedure done that was not necessary. I am looking forward to my next appt in 6 months with my new white teeth!

Had an absolutely wonderful dental experience with Dr. Holyoak.   He works with care, efficiency, dexterity and skill!  The staff is equally competent and kind.  I was surprised and moved by his follow-up call to find out how I was doing after the procedure.  I was grateful, too, for his generosity in working within my budget for this dental work.  Noteworthy as well is the fact that I have never had much of a wait in their office which reflects organization and respect for patients’ time.
