What can I say in yelpspeak, other than 5-stars and “Woohoo! As good as it gets!” I had pondered finding a new dentist for quite a while but the fact that there are SO many out there made things overwhelmingly difficult to say the least. My main issue was that I wanted someone that I could stick with, and didn’t want to play the try-them-out-and-see thing. (For dentists, that is what? Try them out and see if they screw something up?? No thanks!) I also was not sure if I should find one near home in Torrance or near school in Irvine, which made things doubly difficult. After browsing umpteen websites and flipping through the dentists on my endless insurance list, I finally decided on the stupendously wonderful Dr. Huang! The fact that he does cosmetic dentistry and LANAP gum work along with general dentistry was what skewed me towards him over all of the other dentists I had considered. I figured that if I had any serious gum or tooth issues, he could address them without me having to get referred (which would lead to one of my biggest pet peeves, having to explain entire stories and situations all over again from the very beginning!) So I made an appointment on the phone with the SUPER nice and friendly Sandra, and was able to come in pretty quickly. At the time, the office building was in the middle of undergoing a major renovation, but that has nothing to do with my review. Why did I mention that? I have no idea! The staff has always been more than welcoming, and after multiple visits, I don’t think I’ve ever waited more than 5 or 10 minutes before being called in. On my first visit, I expected to be scolded by Dr. Huang for waiting so long between major (read: ANY) dental visits, but no such luck. He’s uber pleasant and truly wants to do whatever it takes to get you up to snuff and on your way. I had already prepared myself for the news that I would need a bunch of level one million major work done, but he actually chuckled at my self diagnosis and told me that things weren’t that bad. He did say that I should really consider addressing my long overdue wisdom tooth extraction situation soon, and I agreed, especially since they were really starting to hurt a lot. After more discussion regarding tooth crowding, gum issues, etc. I asked him if braces would be a good possibility as well since my teeth had shifted so much over the years and were becoming progressively harder to floss and keep clean. He overwhelmingly agreed, and after a couple few quick questions on what I wanted out of an oral surgeon and an ortho (price, insurance coverage, location, etc.) he settled on referring me to Dr. Schell for oral surgery in Redondo Beach, and to Dr. Badii for ortho treatment (since he had offices in both Torrance and Irvine). Perfect!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Both were excellent as well and I am 100% happy with everything that has transpired. Prices are more than reasonable on all services performed, regardless of insurance or out of pocket pay. As far as the actual work performed by Dr. Huang? I have to say he has a very gentle touch that you don’t often find in a dentist, and you can tell that he is always striving to do a super detailed job and to keep his patients out of distress. I myself don’t get scared or anxious at all, but if you do, trust me, this is as good as you are going to get. His super pleasant and occasional mmm hmmm as he goes along is always reassuring, and the bestestest dental assistant in the whole wide world, Maria, is like his extra third and fourth hands! Seriously, folks, I ALWAYS look forward to my visits, including the root canal that I had done on my wisdom tooth ravaged molar! Dr. Huang and his staff are THAT good!
