Dr. James Hernandez has been our family dentist for over 15 years. My husband and I started going to him when we were YOUNG!!! Now that we have aged my husband has started having a lot of dental issues and combined with Covis we were both reluctant to make an appointment. However we knew we could not put it off any longer. The office and staff were all well protected and we felt safe. Dr. Hernandez I call our “magician” because we were expecting the worst news…but yet again he used his expert dental experience, saved my husbands 3 bottom front teeth, did cleaning for both of us, and we were out in a very timely manor. His prices are reasonable and doesn’t try to talk you into expensive proceedures if they can be avoided. He takes the worry out of going to the dentist. The Richman Family

I would bet money that Dr. Hernandez is the BEST dentist in Los Angeles! He has been my dentist for practically my whole life! Every time I go in, it’s like I’m visiting family. Cindy is the best receptionist and always makes sure I’m reminded of my appointments. Rescheduling is never a hassle! The atmosphere is wonderful. So calm and inviting, with A+ music choices to soothe even the most anxious of patients! (Which hello…right here! That’s me! ) Dr. Hernandez is the nicest dentist and I trust him with my teeth 100%. Dr. Hernandez is in a word: AMAZING! I was a previous patient from 08-12 before I moved to NYC. I’ve recently moved back and was experiencing a very bad tooth ache. Knowing that it most likely needed to be extracted. I called and he remembered me and had me in his office within 30 minutes. This was a week ago Friday when covid was going on and he was the only one working. He made me feel safe, secure, and at ease while he removed my broken tooth. I left an hour later feeling much better and really had no pain. By Monday of this week the stitches had come out and the empty space was good and I felt no pain. I just went back yesterday to get it checked out and it is healing perfectly and he is ready to do some more work. I really don’t plan on ever seeing another dentist. His professionalism, patient care, and expertise are what everyone is looking for in a dentist. I could not recommend him more and truly appreciate him as a doctor as well as a fantastic person! Dr. H has been my dentist for about 15 years. He is a thorough professional, but just as importantly to me, is kind and genuinely cares about his patients. He does my bi-annual teeth cleaning himself, not with a hygienist, though his assistant Cindy is fantastic as well. I have always felt like a person, a friend, and not just a patient, when I go there. He is warm and personable and makes you feel at ease. The thing I love most about Dr. Hernandez is his calming demeanor. Going to a dentist’s office can be daunting for some people, with all the bright lights and big machines. But Dr. Hernandez’ office is beautiful and serene. His receptionist greets you warmly and makes you comfortable. Then Dr. Hernandez takes over and you really feel like you’re in the best hands with him. He is very knowledgable and will explain what he is doing and what is wrong (if anything) and what are the options you have to fix the problem. He is not quick to recommend expensive treatments if you don’t need them. He makes everything seem okay and I would highly recommend him to anyone.

Dr. Hernandez is awesome. I am someone who is terrified of the dentist and he always puts me at ease by being extra thoughtful and explaining everything he’s doing as he does it. My husband has been seeing him for ages and I was finally able to go back after an insurance change at work. He’ll give you all your options and not push extra procedures on you like other dentists. I’ve had dentists try to spread out my visits or try to upsell me on things I didn’t need. Dentists are like mechanics. Once you find one you trust, stick with them. Oh and he came in on a Saturday to see me and my friends because our toothaches were awful. He’s just a really nice guy.

I have been going to Dr. Hernandez for years now. I had a wonderful dentist in North Carolina my entire life, so I was nervous I wouldn’t be able to find one I loved just as much as him…until I visited Dr. Hernandez. From the first time booking my appointment seven plus years ago to my latest dental visit last month, I have never been disappointed with their warm hospitality and great service. Cindy, Dr. Hernandez’s assistant, is so courteous and sweet. It’s nice to visit an office where you can tell the employees actually love what they do. Unfortunately, I’ve had a few cavities that Dr. Hernandez had to fill (I brush and floss, Dr. Hernandez, I promise!). My reason for telling you this is because I am very afraid of needles which are required for numbing the area around the cavity. He promised me that I wouldn’t feel the needle, and if I did feel pain, I wouldn’t have to pay for my filling. Seriously!? The bet was on because I ALWAYS feel the needle. I knew I’d be walking out with a free cavity filling. Next thing I know, he is massaging my gums, and as I’m waiting and bracing myself for him to stick the needle in… he asks me how I am feeling and I told him fine and that I was ready. He then tells me he already injected the novacaine. I was in shock and ecstatic all at the same time. I knew right then and there I had found the dentist of my dreams. If you are new to Los Angeles (or are native to) and are looking for a dentist who is caring, knowledgeable, and patient… this is your dentist. He takes a genuine interest in you as a patient and he and Cindy are just all around great people. Their office is clean and in good condition. You can park in their parking lot for a fee (I think it’s $6.) or find street parking. In all my time visiting their office, I’ve never had a problem finding street parking on the streets behind the office as long as you don’t go on a street cleaning day, which I think is on Tuesdays in the late morning/early afternoon. Give them a chance. Once you go, you’ll be hooked after your first visit. Promise… or I’ll pay for your visit. 🙂

I found Dr Hernandez on Yelp. He had very positive reviews but I wanted to find out for myself. Our past dentist was good, but my daughter and husband did not particularly like him. I wanted to find a dentist the whole family liked and who was closer to home. My husband took our daughter to Dr Hernandez because she was complaining of pain on the left side. I assumed that the pain was due to wisdom teeth growing in since she is a teenager, and Dr Hernandez confirmed that this was true. He recommended that she only get her bottom wisdom teeth pulled and not all four teeth like most dentists do. To me, that was a great sign that he was honest and was not just concerned with making money. My daughter is quite anxious at the dentist office and she was completely comfortable with him. After the consultation with my daughter, my husband told him that the past dentist told my husband he needed a root canal. Dr Hernandez looked in his mouth and said that he did not believe my husband needed a root canal. Again, this was a sign of his honesty and integrity as a doctor. We scheduled my daughter’s wisdom teeth extraction a week later. Prior to the appointment my daughter was very anxious and nervous. During the actual extraction, she was very calm and comfortable. I believe this comfort was due to Dr Hernandez’s demeanor and kindness towards my daughter. He was gentle, encouraging, and all-around a great doctor. The next day I came in to make the payment and he immediately came to the front counter and asked how my daughter was. I also appreciated the fact that he was willing to wait for my co-payment for the next day after my husband got paid. I myself find dentists anxiety-provoking, especially when they try to upsell unnecessary products and services. I will be seeing Dr Hernandez next month and for the first time I do not feel as anxious as I normally would. I highly recommend him! P.s. There’s free parking on the east side of Crescent Heights. Just read street signs to make sure you’re parking during the accepted hours!

Dr. Hernandez has been my only dentist since I moved to LA about 10 years ago. I originally picked his practice due to proximity to work and my insurance coverage. Both have since changed, but I’ve stayed with him due to his professionalism, warmth, and expertise. While my insurance coverage has lapsed on and off over the years, Dr. Hernandez and his great staff have always worked with me on the payments. He’s never pushy with procedures — in fact, when I asked about teeth whitening once, he suggested some over the counter product over scheduling a procedure for me. Said it was almost as good, but a fraction of the cost. That’s a dentist you can trust. The best part is that cleanings are always efficient and as pleasant as a cleaning can be. I can’t recommend him highly enough.
