I have been a patient of Dr. Thomas’s for 10 years now. They are reasonably priced, trustworthy and reputable in our community. The staff is super friendly and runs a tight ship in the office. I love my hygienist, Rosemary, who is gentle, patient, and fun to visit with. I have never spent more than 3 or 4 minutes in the waiting room and am usually out of there in under an hour. Couldn’t recommend this practice enough.

I cannot say enough good things about JIDA!  I had major anxiety about the dentist based on previous experiences elsewhere, so had put off regular cleanings and some recommended dental work over the years. Knowing I was only making matters worse, I decided to switch dentists and face my fears head on.  I found JIDA on Google and took a chance based on positive reviews, and am so glad that I did.  The office and staff are warm and welcoming, and Dr. Thomas is super laid back and puts you at ease immediately.  I opted for IV sedation and he was able to complete years of work in 1 visit, and I don’t even feel like my mouth was worked on yesterday.  What a great feeling to wake up and have all of that behind me!  They even called that evening to check in – top notch customer service that I have never before received from a dentist.  My husband will be making the switch, too!

My family has been coming to Dr. Thomas Weir for years. The care and professionalism of the staff, especially Rosemary, is what I wish everyone could experience during a dental appt. You all deserve 10 stars

Excellent customer service in the office. Dr. Thomas really breaks down what is going on and educate you about all of your dental maintenance and any of your dental needs. He actually takes the time to have a conversation with you instead of making you feel like he just needs to get onto the next person.

As always even during Covid, my dentist office was efficient and made effort to insure my safety, which is very important to a 67 year old asthmatic. Their new ventilation system was very evident, the air and whole office felt clean and fresh; you are there by appointment only, there is no waiting, your temperature is checked and you are offered hand sanitizer as soon as you walk in. Very secure feeling throughout, I have no qualms about going for my cleaning in September. Suzanne Huguley

I had a crown drop out and they had time today to help me! Not only that but they cleaned my dental appliance and gave me all kinds of helpful advice for my crown and teeth. Dr. James Thomas spent a lot of time helping me as he got the crown put back in. Many thanks to a great staff, affordable (out of pocket) costs, superb environment and great work!

Being a brand new resident to Charleston, SC and having the same dentist for over 20 years and same Peridontist for over 10 years, I was nervous about finding doctors who were as good and as knowledgeable. I am also in process of extensive periodontal work, and was uncertain about changing midway through the treatment. From the very first call the team at James Island Dental was friendly, informative and extremely helpful in providing me with all the necessary information and made the transition fast and simple. Doctor Weir took extra time to explain the entire treatment plan, and made me feel at ease and actually excited to have him doing all of the periodontal work. I highly recommend this team for all of your dental and periodontal needs. It’s apparent they love what they do and enjoy helping people.

Written on behalf of my teeth: Thank you James Island Dental Associates for reminding me what a full service caring dental practice is like. My first impression was warm and inviting from the beginning. My second, wow, is this place huge. I believe there were at least nine rooms, each serving a unique purpose. My third impression was how fascinated I was with the technology and focus on preventative care. Along with my x-ray impressions, digital pictures were taken of every inch of my mouth to monitor my teeth and gums with each follow up visit as long as I am a patient. Well done. With detailed explanations and process steps, I was cleaned, educated and given some great dental care advice. This was a long visit, but not from lack of attention but extreme detail to attention. This may not be the inexpensive way to spend a few afternoons, but the care and end result will be worth it.

I love Dr. Thomas. I have anxiety at the dentist, but he is so laid back. I had to have a wisdom tooth out and refill a cracked filling. While doing work in my mouth, he was talking about boating/crabbing. It was like hanging out with friends rather than the usual awkwardness of someone digging in your mouth. Also called me later in the night to make sure I was doing alright. Put me at ease. I’ve correlated some dentists with car salesman but did not experience this here. I found their prices to be reasonable and staff very friendly. Also super fast service. Love them!
