Dr Bennet Kawata’s dad was my dentist when I was a kid. He was such a great dentist. So I was so happy to find his son Dr Bennet Kawata on West Pico when I moved back to the area. I went in for the first time with an emergency. I thought I would have to get a crown, yikes. Dr Moriguchi took a look and ex-ray and determined I could get away with a new filling. But I think she basically rebuilt my tooth! Plus, I liked all the air vacuuming machines and added precautions used to keep us all safe.

Ben Kawata is a true dental professional. Me and my entire extended family have been going to this location for close to 40 years. My father originally met Dr. Kobayashi (the previous dentist in charge of the facility) during his times at UCLA and we have stuck with the business since then. The office was eventually taken over by the Kawata family (friends of hers) after she passed. The quality has not only been maintained since 4 decades ago, but also significantly improved. Dr Ben uses state of the art technology and I always leave knowing I’m in good hands. My parents go here, I have gone here since childhood, and I’m quite confident my children will also go here.

Dr. Ben Kawata is the best dentist in Los Angeles. “Like father like son.” Our family have been taken care by himself and his wonderful staff for twenty years. My wife first introduced me to her childhood dentist, Doctor Kawata in 2016. I previously had seen several different dentists and had not been satisfied nor trustful of their work. I have trusted Doctor Kawata’s opinion and planning for my dental health. He is not overly aggressive and seems to be more concerned with prevention instead of drilling any “suspect soft spots.” I regularly have my teeth cleaned by Michelle and she is always very friendly, sociable and does a very thorough job on my cleanings and always provides me with sound advice to improve my flossing and/or my brushing. It’s hard to find a good dentist and I am very grateful to have found one in Doctor Kawata and his staff.

I’ve been coming here for 25 years. First time I came here I was a teenager and Dr. Ben Kawata had just got out of college. I’ve since moved to Long Beach and still make the drive out to the west side because this family business is the best. I tried 3 other dentists close by where I live but none can compare to Kawata Dental. The hygienists and Dr. Kawata are careful, neat and professional. During my teens I never feared getting a filling or other dental work because they are well prepared and do things the right way. The numbing shot is painless and the procedure is fast. My mom also found herself coming back since she moved about 1 hour away. Kawata is the best

Dr. Kawata and staff were very professional and have a sweet demeanor to them. I’ve been coming to them for years and their sincerity and great dental treatment is always appreciated. Love the fact that they are bilingual in Japanese and that they are available and affordable. Dr. Kawata is very gentle when applying anesthesia and makes you feel comfortable. I trust him to work on my teeth. The hygienists are so sweet and do a great dental cleaning. It’s definitely your money’s worth and makes you want to come back every 6 months. Whoever needs a new dentist or hygienist should check them out! They are the best.

This little office has a great staff!! I am a fan of Shirley the hygenist! I thought that all hygenist worked like her but when I moved away for a couple of years I realized that isn’t so. I also tried another hygenist in this office and she was awesome as well. I think this office is old fashion in the sense that they love what they are doing and take pride in all their work! They are also kind and most important, very clean! They are definately up to date in that category. I highly recommend

I’m a client of Dr Kawata Dental for a couple of years now. I was referred by one of my friends. Love Michelle! She does her job in a very professional way, fast, knowledgeable, perfect and in general a great person to listen and talk to. Last time during my teeth cleaning I even felt asleep. Did not expected that at all. The procedure is only $115 and you can ask for an exam if like, which would be additional $50. Highly recommend!

I had a VERY gentle wisdom tooth extraction from Dr Ben Kawata, and amazingly enough , he performed the procedure with no pain whatsoever (at the time) haha… Dr. Kawata prescribed a handful of Norco for my relief, due to my busy upcoming workday. I assure you readers, I most DEFINITELY plan to see this dentist whenever I have teeth issues in the future. Staff was great, I was a walk-in and treated like a regular patient. I am painfully afraid of any person caring for my teeth due to traumatic experiences with prior dentists, and I’ll tell you readers this, that viper loving dentist did wonders for my yucky situation.

I have seen Dr. Kawata for more than 20 years…since I was a teenager. I continue to see him despite moving many times. I have even brought my husband to him now. He is very trustworthy and does excellent work. When the work is beyond his scope, such as when I needed a root canal on a molar, he makes excellent referrals. For all the work I have had under his care (cleanings, fillings and crowns), everything has been excellent.

Dr. Ben Kawata and staff are the best dental professionals and we are lucky to be seen by them. Their care is top notch and Dr. Kawata is very knowledgeable and helpful. I took my children to another dentist in Santa Monica whose prices were ridiculously expensive. I brought my kids to see Dr. Kawata and we have been so happy. He is affordable and now he takes care of my entire family! I personally see Shirley for my cleanings and she is both thorough and gentle (a good thing for me because getting my teeth cleaned isn’t too fun!). Shirley makes my visits so enjoyable and the time just flies! I was disappointed to read the review by Jeff A. but I noticed that his other review was just as negative so I think he is just someone who likes to complain. By the way, Dr. Kawata and staff have volunteered their time to the Culver City school district every year, providing free dental checks. My daughter was so surprised to see her dentist at school. What a truly giving dentist. If you are in need of a good dentist on the Westside, look no further!

A majority of our patients as well as our staff have been with us for numerous years. We are compassionate and truly care about your experience as a patient and about your overall health. We use digital x-rays and intraoral cameras so that you can be educated about your current dental status and about your options for treatment. You can trust that your best interest is our best interest. Dr. Ben Kawata was born and raised in West Los Angeles and attended Venice High school. He then did his undergraduate studies at Loyola Marymount University majoring in Biology and then earned his D.D.S. degree at USC School of Dentistry in 1988. He has owned Kawata Dental Inc. since 2001.
