I have been with Dr. Kelly since he started in Dana Point, more than 20 years ago. At 81 years old, I have been to many dentists in my lifetime. Never have I ever felt so at home with his staff and had such great care. I have been through tooth pulling and root canals with him. There is no one that I have ever met who does it so smoothly and painless as Dr. McDonough. I have recommended him to many of my friends and they were all very happy there.

My family has been seeing Dr. McDonough for many years. His work has always been stellar. He calls the evening following tough fillings to make sure you are OK. Today I had several front teeth spiffed up. They were ragged and a bit chipped. I had hesitated and finally decided to bite the bullet. They look 30 yrs younger! I’m euphoric and can’t stop smiling! He is not only concerned about fixing the medical portion but the look/shape of your teeth as well. He will explain thoroughly the plan so you understand. My husband is phobic so they have had their hands full with him but he sings their praises. His staff has been there forever and are all friendly, kind and professional. Ask for Terry for cleanings!

I have to say Dr.McDonough always has his patients best interest a heart! My son is home from college for only the weekend and told me his back tooth was broken off. He was dealing with it for a few weeks but it was really bothering him, not to mention the infection factor. I called Dr. McDonough’s office first thing this morning and the front office staff was so concerned and kind ( as they always are when I call). My son was able to see Dr.McDonough today !!! Even though it was the doctors DAY OFF, Dr. McDonough came in to see my son and take care of his tooth today! And now he can go back to school without pain and the potential for a tooth infection (…).

Best dentist I have ever had! For the first time in my life I was offered a lower-cost option for a dental problem. Dr McDonough is professional yet makes you feel welcome along with every staff member on his team. Vicki cleaned my teeth yesterday and did an amazing job – gentle yet thorough. Always pleasant with a skilled dental staff, his work holds up against the test of time, wear and the occasional popcorn kernel. My dental hygienist Shelly is wonderful and so clearly knows what she is doing it really puts me at ease.
I did eventually have Dr. McDonough take care of my one trouble spot with a filling. Everything went totally smoothly and after years in and out of various dentist’s offices around Orange County, there is absolutely no doubt in my mind Dr. McDunough is among the best of the best dentists in the region.

(…) What I love about Dr. McDonough is that he even calls you the evening of your treatment to make sure you are doing OK. He is also conservative and isn’t trying to push you to do unnecessary work as previous dentists have. When I told him I wanted to remove all my old metal fillings he didn’t think it was necessary, but when I insisted, he agreed to do it. I have to say over the past year my fear of dentists is gone. While it’s not my favorite thing to do, I don’t mind going to Dr. McDonough and his team. I have to agree with other comments here about how helpful and great Debbie is and I also am very appreciative for Selfa who assists Dr. McDonough with his treatments. He really runs a very pleasant, upbeat office and you can tell the team all want to be there.

She gave me a tour of the office so I understood the whole practice. The Dr. was great and explained every aspect of what he was going. Plus you can’t beat the view of the ocean from the chair. My hygienist was Sandy and she was helpful as well. She explained everything and let me know what welters I needed to keep better care.

Dr McDonough and his staff are wonderful. Debbie is so helpful every time I call her to make an appointment, switch an appointment, or ask questions about my insurance. She is very knowledgeable and goes the extra mile when I need to know what my insurance will or won’t cover. I’ve had cleanings with all 3 of the hygienists and they are all very good: thorough, gentle, and friendly. Dr McDonough is very attentive, as is his assistant. He listens to my concerns and remembers any special requests from one visit to the next. All of his equipment is clean and up-to-date. After multiple fillings and cleanings, I am very confident in the recommendations and work done by Dr McDonough.
My nerves about visiting the dentist have completely vanished thanks to Dr McDonough and his staff. If you’re looking for a great dentist, this office will not disappoint. The drive from Irvine is worth it!

Dr McDonough is a California native. He grew up in Hacienda Heights and attended Stanford University, graduating in 1980 with a degree in Economics. Upon graduation, he entered the USC School of Dentistry to pursue a career in dentistry. Dr McDonough has 34 years of experience and has been in Dana Point since 1988.
