Dr. O’Brien’s office is EVERYTHING I was looking for in a dentist. I am very turned off by “dental spas,” and fancy chairs or extra-fast dental visits. I want a practical and thorough dentist who is honest and gives me options on treatments. Dr. O’Brien is all of the above and he has hired wonderful hygenists who have the same “chair style” as Kelly. During a root canal, a piece of the equipment broke off inside my tooth. Dr. O’Brien immediately explained what happened and then sent me to his endodontist colleague. Because it was a bad luck occurrence, Dr. O’Brien and the endodontist determined I would not be charged for the extra procedure and time it cost me. I am so appreciative of this personal attention. I would immediately recommend Kelly and his staff to anyone new to the Salt Lake area, and his office if very conveniently located–between the medical center and downtown–so it is quick and easy to get to, on a workday.

I’ve been going to Dr. O’Brien and his fabulous crew for years now, and have always been MORE than satisfied. Last night close to quitting time I had a crown come out after chewing on some sticky candy. Shirley, his scheduler, worked me in, no doubt asking Dr. O to stay late so I could get it fixed. Dr. O’BRIEN is the best. We’ve known him for 20 years and even kept him as our dentist when we lived out of state. I tried to find local dentists but never liked them as much. I love his approach to dentistry and his kindness and humor. No hesitation at all giving him five stars. Gail is awesome. Always kind, thorough, and personable. I’d recommend this office to anyone, any day (and do!).

Ehlers Danlos Friendly!!* Dr. O’Brien was extremely knowledgeable and very kind. He listened and understood the challenges people with Ehlers Danlos Syndrome face when having local anesthetic not working. He was very understanding and patient and referred me to an oral surgeon (for further work) , Dr. Nathan Adam’s who is just as knowledgeable. I am so happy I left my previous dentist and decided to give Dr. O’brien a try. My entire family is switching!!!

My three boys, ages 15, 12 and 9, became Dr. O’Brien’s patients about 18 months ago based off a recommendation from a family friend. They (and I) couldn’t be happier. Dr. O’Brien is extremely competent and, just as important, he is both gentle as a dentist and as a human being. My boys love that he remembers facts about them — what sports they play, what books they were reading last time they were in the office — and so do I. Plus, he is skilled at the cosmetic dentistry stuff, too. On top of all of the that, both Elise and Gail are terrific hygienists.

Dr. Kelly O’Brien and his staff are terrific! The hygienists and assistants are friendly and gentle. They’re very good at getting my children (11, 9, and 7) to relax and cooperate with cleanings, etc. The hygienist I see, Elyce, is exceptionally quick and has never hurt me. She is friendly, but if I want to rest rather than chat, she carries on quietly and skillfully. Dr. O’Brien is easy to talk to, and he listens very well. For example, I saw him recently about a rough edge on a back molar–loose filling? chip? I didn’t even have an appointment; they squeezed me in for a 5-minute “look-see.” He immediately identified the problem, listened to my theory about grinding my teeth at night (sore jaw and earache), examined my jaw-joint, and proceeded to arrange a solution. He never acted rushed or annoyed, even though the exam took 10 minutes instead of five. Shirley, at the front desk, is kind and efficient, as well. She seems eager to find a good appointment time to fit our family’s busy schedule. She handles billing issues professionally and asks ever-so politely about outstanding balances. Parking is easy, and the waiting room and restrooms are clean and comfortable. I could not recommend a dental practice more highly!

Needed an emergency crown and was leaving town the next week, so I only had two days to get it done. Every other place told me they were fully booked or had to have me in for a preliminary appointment, but Dr. O’Brien was able to squeeze me in between other patients and make use of their CEREC machine to create the crown on the spot, and even show me the very cool 3D imaging and crown design process. Everyone was very nice and accommodating. For any future dental issues I have in SLC I will certainly contact these people again.

I have been going to Dr. O’Brien for about 3 years. He is extremely gentle and caring. All the procedures he has performed on my teeth are in great shapes. Everyone in the office is very friendly and professional. Elsie has been my Dental Hygenist, and not only she is good at what she does, she is very educated in her field and gives me great pointers with my treatments.
