So far after my first visit I give it a 5 star. Dr Speck and team can best be described as quirky with a splash of something which could be genius and could be Kra Kra. Dr. Speck was great! I only give him 4 stars because it is after all the dentist so I do not think I could give any dentist 5 stars. It was a very short wait. He was great and actually cleaned my teeth himself. I have only had dental assistants do that before. He was gentle and explained everything as he was doing it. Hi Dentist Seekers, I normally do not leave reviews because “Ain’t nobody got time for that,” (to leave a review or read my lengthy story) but Dr. Speck’s service was superb and I hope my story helps another person. Doctor Speck has been my employer’s dentist for years. After I had an unpleasant experience at another dentist, he referred me to Dr. Speck. My visit with Dr. Speck saved me countless dollars and frustration and provided a great service to me. My previous dentist had a lavish setup, a pleasant staff, and all of the newest gadgets but that previous dentist refilled a filling incorrectly. It had microscopic holes in it, so six months later at a routine cleaning, that doctor needed to refill it again. Long story, I had to go back two more times and that cavity still jolted me if I chewed on that side of my mouth. At the first cleaning, that dentist told me I had four cavities and no enamel on my teeth. He wanted me to buy some paste products for $75 and gave me a quote for the cavities. I decided to look elsewhere for service. I waited six months and went to Dr. Speck. I told him none of my previous woes except I had pain on a certain tooth. He did some magic tricks, sanded something, and I can bite on that side. Yay! He also cleans your teeth himself with a turbo water pick. This could save him overhead costs, but who cares? I felt really good getting special attention. Other dentists only spend five minutes with me to knock around my mouth. I got to ask Dr. Speck questions about my gum health and each of my teeth concerns without feeling rushed! That’s relieving. Once he had cleaned my teeth and looked at my x-rays, he said come back in six months. I said, “What about my four cavities?” He said I had a few spots to watch but no cavities. I asked about my enamel. Turns out the ridges were simply a bit of old glue from my braces years ago. Dr. Speck restored my faith in humanity and the healthcare system. I sleep easy now. Just left the best cleaning/exam ever! I made an appointment to come in with my mother and sister and we were all in and out in about an hour and a half. The deco inside of the building was very artistic and went perfectly with their Montrose location -I felt like I was in an art studio! Assistant Annie and Dr Rachel Speck were both friendly and super efficient. They thoroughly answered all of my questions and left my teeth feeling so fresh and so clean. Because of an accident to the face when I was 4yrs and 7yrs old I have been in the dental chair all of my life I have learned a lot about dentists as I grew up and moved around Houston I can tell you that Dr Frank Incrapera and Dr N Kirk Speck are two who are technicians as well as artists in their craft. Hi fixed my tooth! I had a root canal about 2 years ago and continued to have problems with it. I have the most different and very positive outcome going to Dr. Speck. First off  I like the atmosphere and decor which is not the “standard” dental office atmosphere. The staff I asked has been with him for 20 years. But what Sold me on coming back to Dr. Speck is that the 2 previous dentist did not ever “catch” this over bite I had due to previous dental work and Dr. Speck noticed it immediate and fixed it to where my “bite” is normal again. My wife also went there.

I came in for a cleaning. First time patient. His office was very quaint and very non-dentist. More like a lawyer’s office in a loft which made it seem less scary (although lawyers are scary). He was very gentle and he has up to date technology to clean your teeth painlessly. I recommend him!

Excellent personal care from everyone in the office. I needed deep cleaning, which I thought would take at least two visits. To my pleasant surprise it only took the one visit and the results greatly exceeded my expectations. Dr. Speck and his assistant worked as a team and were thorough, patient and caring. The procedure was comfortable, my teeth look and feel great and I do not feel any after treatment pain or discomfort. They kept my mouth well drained throughout the entire procedure and explained what was going on. One other thing, I observed that they also treat each other with old fashion courtesy and respect, that really says a lot to me. Words of advice, go through the entire email; it has parking instruction and the building access code. Also for your first visit arrive a little early as there is construction going on in the area (11/13/15) and you may need the extra time.

I am a new patient of Dr. Speck. I went in for my first appointment, a teeth cleaning, and I was very surprised that Dr. Speck was the one actually doing the cleaning. I am 24 years old and have never had the actual dentist do the cleaning. It’s usually an assistant. He did a really good job with the cleaning because I hadn’t been to the dentist in two years, so I had a lot of buildup and he got it all.

As a third-generation dentist whose father and grandfather were both dentists in Houston, Dr. Kirk Speck is proud of being able to carry on the tradition of caring for patients’ oral health. He attends numerous continuing educations programs every year to stay knowledgeable of current technology. Patients are attracted to his warm, friendly, and compassionate personality, and he is honored to have been able to care for his fellow Houstonians for over three decades. Dr. Speck enjoys being involved in the community; he is active in the Greater Houston Preservation Alliance, is a recipient of the GHPA Good Brick Award, and enjoys preserving Houston history. In his spare time he enjoys swimming, running, biking, and underwater diving. Dr. Speck is married with two children and resides in the Heights.
