I’ve experienced profound anxiety when faced with going to the Dentist or doing anything dentistry-related. After all, I do my yearly flossing, what more could they want from me? I have some pretty awful memories of my visits to the Chair of Despair and unfortunately, when I got old enough to make my own decisions regarding my oral health (after my mother’s and then the Navy’s lien on my life expired) my phobia kept me away for many years and believe it or not my oral health took a serious turn towards the tragic. I decided as much as I hated to admit it I needed help. Dr. Feinberg was the person I chose to give me that help and I was not sorry that I placed my trust in this man. While the work I was now facing, certainly was no picnic, I was able to get through it easily. I found him to be kind, compassionate, and sensitive to my anxieties. He explained all aspects of the procedures in simple terms and withheld judgment in regards to my messed up grill. His staff is professional, knowledgeable, and most importantly for me, nice!

AMAZING DENTIST AND STAFF! HIGHLY RECOMMEND! I had always hated going to the dentist, so much so that I basically stopped going as an adult. When I went, I felt shamed for not going often enough, and I just hated everything about the experience; the sounds, the smells, the feeling of metal pushing against my gums and scratching my teeth. Then I found Dr. Feinberg’s practice. He and his staff went out of their way to make me feel comfortable, from draping a blanket over me to carefully adjusting the nitrous oxide so that I remained calm throughout the exam and cleaning. I was not made to feel ashamed once, and for the first time in my life, I left the dentist feeling motivated to go to the dentist more often and to take better care of my teeth.

It was time for a dental cleaning and I was really apprehensive because of the Coronavirus. When I arrived the all doors were open so there was no physical contact entering the office. I was asked to use a antibacterial hand sanitizer, my temperature was taken and I was asked a series of health questions before being allowed to enter.
The hygienist explained all the new safety rules and wore a mask and shield. I was very comfortable and left not worrying about having contacted anything. If you want a dentist that is not only very good at what he does, but also very concerned about your health and comfort, then Dr. Feinberg is the dentist you want.

If your looking for the BEST Dentist and crew look no further. I also am a disabled vet. After a dentist that V.A. sent me to a year and a half prior, broke off a file in my jaw bone and it got really infected. V.As dentist couldn’t get it out. They sent me to Dr Fienberg, Hell I will never go anywhere else. He and his staff are very concerned about everything about your needs. From Start To finish. It’s very seldom these days to find a DDS that has it together. I tell everyone about that office. for 27 years i have not had front teeth I had nubbs they put in while i was recovering from war. I don’t trust a lot of people or Drs. for that matter. But he has earned my trust. Just go there he has a Coffee, Snacks, Cold water or soda waters cold. I’ve been going to Dr Feinberg for 4 years and he and his staff have been the absolute best. Here’s why: The office is highly efficient . I have never once waited for an appointment . Dr Feinberg is incredibly skilled. He is a perfectionist. He called me several times after my appointment to find out how I was doing after my root canal. I am finishing up my third appointment in the past week with Dr. Feinberg and his crew today. I had copious work to have completed from the disaster of what was done from other dentists (military) in the past. I came to know of him through 1-800-dentist. I am pleased with their recommendations for him. For me, it’s all the little things that add up to my overall satisfaction. First, his office is clean and professional. I noticed he had a K cup machine, cold beverages, and cookies (yes, cookies) available in tbe lobby. He is confident and compassionate. The way he navigates through his work with gentle authority made me comfortable and confident. You know those doctors that say, “Come on, I am almost done!” when you raise your hand in pain? He is not that guy. My comfort seemed to be of utmost importance to him. His is non judgemental and is not a sugar nazi. I appreciate this about him as well. He gave me a blanket and let me listen to Pandora via headphones. Lastly, he is a master at his craft. No pun intended, but I grilled him about his personal development as a DDS. He conveyed an attitude of a confident lifelong learner. Thus, he fabricated several partial crowns in house because he had developed that skill set though many others still have not. At another dentist, I had to wait a week for a crown to arrive and be fitted. It comes down to this: I was comfortable enough to have fallen asleep several times during my work with him. And…. my wife has a lot of wonderful things to say about his work – that means a lot. My wife is a tough critic. In my humble opinion, Dr. Feinberg is the most practical and sensible choice in dentists here in San Diego.

I started going to De Feinberg because I was unhappy with my previous dentist, and I also wanted a dentist closer to home. I particularly liked being able to get a crown put on in one visit. The fluoride treatments that he suggested have made a big difference with the number of cavities that I now get. Being a senior, I get a discount on my bill and this always makes me happy. I have been happy with the work that I get with this dental office and I would recommend it to anybody looking for a new dentist. I like the staff here and I do not dread going to to Dr Feinberf’s office for treatment. I have been going to this office for over three years and I have seen the same staff, (some of which were pictured on the Yelp web site) for this entire period. After visiting 3 other Prostodontist, I emphatically choose Dr. Richard Feinberg. His bedside manner, his patience while listening to my comments, questions and concerns, and his office staffs organizational skills; knowledge of their trade coupled with their bedside manner was a no brainer. At first meeting Dr. Feinberg, I was deeply impressed with his sincere desire to help me with my issues. I have been to too many dentists that thought they could treat the multiple issues my mouth had, but once they started work found they were way in over their head. Unfortunately the work these other dentists started, was inferior or exasperated my already existing conditions. A recent example would be the following: In July and August of 2013, I was told by two different Prostodontist and a Dentist that I needed multiple teeth extracted, implants would cost $13,560.00. After showing the proposed work and costs to Dr. Feinberg, he assured me the teeth did not need to be extracted, he could save a wisdom tooth (I was told was un-savable), with a root canal and crown. Dr. Fienberg also saved me $3000.00 off of my proposed cost (by the other guys and women) for a final total of $10,560.00. In the interim, while waiting for my oral and implant surgery, Dr. Feinberg made the finest most realistic looking denture one could ask for. The other dentist/Prostodontist’s told me a denture would never work for me pre implants due to the excess bone that must be removed from my gums. Dr. Feinberg proved them all WRONG! Now I can chew food, I have my smile back but most of all I have my joy back. I used to dread social situations but no more!! Thank you Dr. Feinberg ! Not only are you a superb artist, a finely tuned craftsman of your trade, but a fine gentleman whom it is my honor to have met. Thanks again to your fantastic office staff Judy and Sheri !

Dr Feinberg and his entire staff have always been wonderful, kind and excellent at their profession. I’ve been coming here for several years and now my entire family does too. I went yesterday for routine cleaning and exam and as always it is the most thorough and gentle cleaning I have ever had at any dentist I’ve ever been to. I also needed a small filling and the receptionist was able to tell me up front exactly how much it would cost and was able to book me to come back right away for it. FANTASTIC! After being told by another Prosthodontist that my wife’s insurance would not cover any of their $3500 fee, I did some research and found Dr Feinberg through IDentist. He is caring and his staff is tops. I never have felt pressured or mistreated. He is a very knowledgeable Dentist with many years of practice. His explanations of the procedure used to fix my current partial and then make a new one were on the mark. The cost was still rather high, but our portion of it was manageable and the staff helped me to understand the ins and outs of what the insurance would pay. Dr. Feinberg is an amazing dentist! I had broken a tooth with a gumball and had two crowns that needed replacing. I could not believe how quickly Dr. Feinberg fixed everything. He replaced both of my crowns and made a new one for my broken tooth in about three hours! Unlike all the other scary dentists that barely say 3 words to you the whole time. Dr. Feinberg will make you feel like a friend and talks to you like an equal. He sits down and makes sure you fully understand what he’s explaining rather than using a bunch of big words and medical terminology and then expect you to make a quick decision right then and there. He even let me come back for a second consultation (for free!) so I could ask him more questions and see all the different options that were available for me and the costs before I made a decision. No dentist has ever let me do that and not tried to charge me. Finally, once I decided on a treatment route, he fabricated several partial crowns for me in-house and were seated that same day! Many dentists haven’t yet developed that skill set but Dr. Feinberg has and he seems like he’s always up on the latest technology and that makes me feel reassured that I am getting top-notch quality work every time. I would definitely recommend Dr. Feinberg to my family and friends.

Dr Feinberg just replaced an old crown that another dentist put on. Within an hour and a half I was out of the office with a permanent crown. (He uses a computer to make them in the office.) He replaced silver filings several years ago with these and they have held up very well. His shots are amazing since he uses a little one to numb the area first. Sherry, the receptionist is efficient and friendly. She got me in on pretty short notice when I told her my broken crown looked like a fang. Christina , his assistant ,has the best touch ever. She is very calming and gentle. ( She is also a former lawyer from Romania and is very interesting to talk to.) While Dr. Feinburg is working he talks about what he is doing so there are no surprises. He is also very funny. If you are a busy person like most of us are, this one short visit takes the place of two or three required by other dentists that don’t have this equipment.

A WORD FROM YOUR DOCTOR
As a dentist in La Mesa, Dr. Feinberg has been practicing for over 33 years, but has owned and operated the San Diego Smile Center for a little over 12. The San Diego Smile Center offers numerous treatment options as well as general dentistry services to meet all of your family dental needs. When I graduated from dental school 36 years ago, I was looking forward to taking care of the underserved, low income and homeless populations and I fulfilled that goal as dental director of the Logan Heights Family Health Center in La Mesa for 19 years. It was a tremendous but rewarding amount of work to attend to thousands of patients whose dental health we helped to improve and, in the process, prevented further problems. A smile compromised by missing or damaged teeth can affect a person’s mental health by negatively impacting her confidence, job prospects, and self-worth. If left untreated, multiple missing teeth can also impact her physical health leading to an increased risk for obesity, diabetes, and heart disease. It has been enormously satisfying and gratifying to practice dentistry and been able to help people reach their goals for a healthy mouth, lifestyle and longer life. I graduated from the University of Wisconsin with a B.S. in Wildlife Sciences and earned my doctoral degree at New York University School of Dentistry. I continued my education with a General Practice Residency at the Delaware State Hospital and then attended Medical College of Georgia, School of Dentistry specializing in prosthodontics. In 2001, I established my dental practice in La Mesa focusing on comfortable and state of the art aesthetic replacement of one tooth to entire oral rehabilitations. Aside from dentistry, my family is my happiness. I have two girls, Ariela and Ivana, and a boy, Edwin, who help me see the world more clearly. My education at the University of Wisconsin focused on the natural world from meteorology, ornithology, mammalogy, entomology, tree and shrub identification and the interaction of these parts called ecology. I explore this natural world with my children whether splashing in the ocean, watching shore birds, visiting the deep woods or the sequoias, hiking all day to mountain lakes, catching rainbow trout, or riding mules at the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. I also have a close relationship with my mother, who is 91 years old and continues to take care of me some 3,000 miles away. My older brother is a successful folding box designer and printer. They both reside in New Jersey. My children and I enjoy visiting our family and going to New York to see Broadway shows, enjoy ethnic foods (hot pastrami) and skate at the Rockefeller Center on Christmas.
