My experience with Laurelhurst Family Dentistry was outstanding. I will first admit that I have a fear of the dentists office, especially in the time of COVID-19. However, the folks at Laurelhurst made me feel at ease with their kindness and professionalism. Upon arrival, I was greeted at the front desk by Chekah, who was ready for my arrival with my pre-filled out documents in hand. With a warm smile (behind a safeguarded face mask), she handed me a couple of short forms to complete. I sat down and quickly filled out the paperwork. Just a moment later, I was taken into the exam room by my technician, who took pictures and x-rays of my teeth. She was a pleasure to speak with and was very gentle with the procedure. Shortly after the initial imaging, I was seen by Dr. Shen. Dr. Shen was incredibly patient with me as we went over my pictures and x-rays in detail. After discussing my treatment plan, she proceeded to clean and check the overall health of my teeth and gums. It was determined I would need to return a week later to repair a chipped tooth. Leaving the office, I felt such a sense of comfort that my teeth were in good hands. Chekah was waiting for me with my paperwork (and another big smile) once I was finished with the exam. Overall, I would have to say that this is one of the best dental experiences I have ever had. Dr. Shen and her team are a talented group of professionals and I am so happy to say that I have found my new dentist going forward. Thank you to everyone at Laurelhurst Family Dentistry! (I returned to LaurelHurst Family Dentistry a week later to get the chipped tooth repaired and my experience was just as stellar!

Dr Wilma is a great dentist. She is very though and yet gentle. I had a lot of questions about how my teeth are and what improvements I can make she answered them all. A WORD FROM YOUR DOCTOR

Dr. Wilma Shen has clinical expertise in dentistry and is currently practicing at Laurelhurst Family Dentistry located in Seattle, WA. Dr. Shen started her dental training at National Yang-Ming University, Taipei. Subsequently, she also pursued additional dental education at the University of Washington, Seattle. Dr. Shen sees patients for a myriad of reasons, including broken teeth, fillings, root canals, and sealants. As she is fluent in English, Japanese, and Chinese, patients from a variety of backgrounds appreciate having her as their dentist. She takes pride in providing patients with dental care that best suits their oral needs. Dr. Shen holds active memberships in the American Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry, and the Washington State Dental Association. A recipient of various honors and awards, Dr. Shen also believes in serving the community and her countless volunteering work is a testament to this. I believe that oral health is fundamental to overall health. To live a quality life, we need to take care of our appearance, be able to communicate with others and enjoy great food. I enjoy helping my patients smile, talk, and eat—all the basic things we take for granted in our daily lives, but make all the difference. Each one of us sees this world differently. By working with so many unique people every day, I get to see the world through their eyes—a young child who is eager to explore this world full of excitements, a college student who is ambitious yet uncertain about what this world will bring, or an older couple who has a lot to share about what this world has taught them. We all have our special ways to look at this world, this life. It is both fun and inspiring to build a long-term relationship with my patients, getting to know them better with time, and sharing our life experiences. My team and I are caring, attentive, and passionate about educating our patients about all things in dentistry. We want our patients to feel like they are at their dental home—their dental health, their life, and their goals all matter to us. Seattle has been my home since 2013, but I enjoy visiting my family all around the world—my parents in Taiwan, my cousins in Japan, and my younger brother in the Bay Area. When I have free time, I attend Bible study groups, read, watch musicals, take cello lessons, and spend time exploring new places. In addition to being active in my church, I volunteer with the Medical Teams International Dental Mobile Van. I enjoy giving back to the community and offering my skills to those in need.
