Dr. Whitmer is a long time Bruin, receiving her Bachelors and Doctorate from UCLA, and has since received lots of advanced training in dental procedures.. Dr. Whitmer has has been a resident of Valencia for decades and has the distinction of being the first female general dentist in the Santa Clarita Valley. Leda M. But in addition to checking out your teeth, we also want to determine the state of your gum health, to make sure your jaw joint has no problems, and to perform an oral cancer screening. For child patients, we also look for signs of growth imbalances. By doing this, we can suggest early treatment and minimize the need for orthodontic tooth extractions. Since we really take our time, we've had patients comment that they've never had a really thorough dental exam until they saw us. It make us feel good to hear that.
