I have had more than my share of dental work over the years but nothing compares to how well my numerous experiences with Dr. Nielsen and his staff members such as Meg and Mary Ellen have been. They always greet you with a smile, listen to your questions, stay on schedule, provide high quality work and only give the treatment you need or request. They have reasonable prices and willing to work out a payment plan if needed. Going to the dentist is never “fun” but they have more than found their way to make up for it!!!

I’ve been going to this office for nearly 18 months and haven’t written a review yet because, until yesterday, all I’ve received was regular cleanings and check ups. I’m one of those people you hear about that get irrationally anxious about dental work. Seriously, it starts a couple days before the appointment. For me, the true test of a dentist is how comfortable I feel during more involved procedures. Yesterday, that was some major work to prep for a bridge for my upper back molars. Dr. Nielsen and his staff are true pros. They listened to my needs and made adjustments to their procedures to accommodate my “special needs”. I left in complete awe of how little anxiety I felt during that appointment. As long as I live in Phoenix, this will be my dentist office.

Amazing staff! Wonderful and gentle. I won’t go anywhere else! The staff is wonderful and really took pride in putting my mind at ease. The dentist was wonderful and his skill level was quickly evident. I get nervous and panicked usually at dental appointments but not here. As soon as I walked I was offered a bottle of water and given a tour of the office. We were able to combine several appointments into one and get a lot accomplished in the time I was there. Nitrous is available to help those who need it (me). I didn’t feel the doctor give me injections. He is that gentle! Amazing practice.

I have had what seems like nothing but bad experiences at the dentist from the time I was little. I have had extensive work done and still need extensive work done. Going to the dentist gives me anxiety because I’m so unhappy with my teeth. The people at this office were so incredibly nice. From the front desk staff to the hygienist to the dentist. I don’t have a single complaint or suggestion. After my appointment Janie (from the front desk) even came back and asked how things went and how I was feeling. Seriously impressed with the care, level of knowledge, and thoroughness here. For the first time in forever I feel like I can commit to a long-term treatment plan to get to a smile I want to show off.

This is the most professional and competent dentist office I have used in Arizona. I go for routine check-ups and cleanings. All of the hygienists are very good and very thorough. The dentists are excellent and are very good about providing a treatment plan that works for you on your schedule, outlining what is a priority and what can be done a later. Overall a great practice and I will be going there as long as I’m in Arizona!

Maryellen is AMAZING!!! I enjoy coming in to the office to see her every 6 months. I love her passion and professionalism. She treats all patients with dignity, kindness and respect. I can not remember a dental experience that compares to the care I have received at Life Smiles. I live out of state and had a dental emergency. Life Smiles was able to see me the day I called. The dentist laid out a plan that was long overdue for me. They are trying to work within the short time frame I have while I am in AZ. I so appreciate all of the trouble this office and the professionals who work there have gone to to accommodate an out-of-towner.

I have never had a negative experience at Life Smiles over the nearly seven years I’ve been going there. Kelli is the absolute BEST!!! Hands down, no questions asked! Truly, the whole staff is great – From the front desk staff, to the dental hygienists, to the doctors themselves. They all work together as a team and that results in an exceptional experience for the patients. When I originally started going there, I lived very close; however, I moved years ago and am quite far now, but Life Smiles and the staff there (especially Kelli) are so wonderful that I choose to make the drive there still. Both Dr. Nielson, Dr. Schmidt and their staff try extra hard to make you feel welcome, comfortable and pain free. I’m in a wheelchair and transferring to the extra comfort dentist’s chair is never a problem. There is handicap parking, an elevator and handicap bathroom, too. The dentists are so gentle and competent! They always search for alternatives to making the work you need financially possible. Great personalities and I love the music they play.

Going to the dentist can be a nerve-racking experience, but not at Life Smiles Dental Care. From the moment I walked in I was greeted with a smile and a warm welcome. Kelli, my hygienist, made sure I was comfortable and that I understood what today’s visit would entail. With x-rays, teeth cleaning and a check-up I knew that the team would spot any potential challenges immediately. I usually see Dr. Nielson but today I was introduced to Dr. Schmidt. Dr. Schmidt, much like Dr. Nielson, had an easy comfortable demeanor which would put any nervous person at ease. Thankfully I had no cavities but if I did, I knew I was in capable hands. I had some terrible bonding work on my front teeth done by another cosmetic dentist and didn’t feel comfortable going back to that doctor to fix it. I found Dr. Nielson online with examples of his bonding work. I met with 5 doctors. A few recommended 4 veneers, another said my problem could not be fixed. I decided to put my faith in Dr. Nielson and ended up with a result that makes me want to smile again (and feel like ‘me’ again!) The office is nice, the staff is super helpful. My first visit to a dental office in a while, I understood that I needed a lot done. They got me in quick with almost no wait time! Meg and Akilah(?), or Front Desk, was so kind and caring! They even helped me get in the building since I got a little lost, which was amazing since I don’t see many places do that anymore. Heidi took me back and was understanding of my dental anxieties, along with answering my questions before I had to ask! They are very informative and definitely have accurate knowledge on questions patients may, or will, ask. They are patient and kind, taking in the patients comfort and needs beforehand. Dr. Nielson was not only informative, but gave me various options in case I needed them which I greatly appreciate both location-wise and financially (Front Desk was very understanding in these categories as well)! Hillary is an amazing hygienist who was so sweet and considerate about my comfort! She was amazing in making sure the cleaning was painless and that I was well-informed of what was happening. She let me know what she was doing, showed me how the tool worked before using it, and was amazing in keeping me motivated to brush and floss! I would definitely recommend Life Smiles Dental to anyone who is looking for dental assistance! They are kind, compassionate, and extremely caring to their patients. I had gone to the same dentist office for years before switching to life smiles dental care. At my previous dentist office the hygienist I usually saw left, and I just wasn’t happy with the care was provided any more. I knew I needed to find a new dentist and was overwhelmed by the choices in the valley. I decided I would ask my child’s pediatric dentist offices staff where they go, as I was happy with their treatment and dental work, I figured they would only go to places the provided excellent care. Every single one of the staff I talk to said they themselves go to life smiles dental care. I’ve been going to life smiles dental care for about two years now, and they are professional and friendly, discuss any issues and options with me, their office is welcoming and clean and their appointments run on time. What a great experience I had at Life Smiles! I had a good feeling when I initially called to make my appointment after doing a search for a dentist close to my home.The appointment scheduler was very nice, helpful and clear with instructions. From the minute I walked in for my appointment every single person working there was extremely pleasant and seemed to truly enjoy their job, which says a lot about the management and leadership. The front desk was efficient and informative, the hygienists and assistants were extremely accommodating and professional, and the dentist was very friendly and gave me many options. I never felt pressured into any treatments (as has been my experience at many other dentists) and they outlined all of my options with realistic expectations. I was so impressed that I called my partner on my way home to switch to them and he scheduled an appointment already! I have already told a few neighbors about how great this practice is, and I have NEVER done that before for any previous dentists I have been to. First thing walking through the door I was greeted by the receptionist who was friendly, The office was neat, clean and inviting. Love the rooms with the views of the mountains which made me feel relaxed and at ease. The girl who brought me back to the room was very personable. We got to talking about hiking and just felt everyone was friendly and not too friendly (not forced) The dentist was able to give me a second opinion for my treatment plan which had been done elsewhere. I feel more comfortable about this treatment plan and the room was much more neat and clean and inviting. They seem to care about the quality of their work and knowing the crowns have a 5 year warranty and fillings have a 2 yr warranty gives some peace of mind especially when you know you need to pay a lot of money for dental work. I liked that they had private rooms to discuss your payment plan and options. I will continue to go here.

I smile as I write this because I can as Dr. Neilson is the man. He fixes my crowns that were done elsewhere wrong and all the while keeping my other teeth nice and strong. Kelly keeps my pearly’s white and my gums nice and pink so my breath don’t stink. Heidi does the greatest molds to make sure that those new crowns hold. I didn’t feel like I was looked down on and they didn’t make me feel ashamed about my poor dental health. My 13yr daughter insisted she needed to write a review…I never thought going to the dentist could be a great experience! Everyone was so friendly and welcoming. I was really scared to switch dentists, but I’m so glad I did. The front desk staff were wonderful and helpful. I was given a tour of the office, and was seated in a very comfortable chair. Feeling so welcomed, and being talked through my cleaning made the visit go by quickly! I could even watch tv, or look out at the beautiful view that I could see through the window from my chair. I honestly didn’t even want to get up from the chair! The office and my treatment was luxurious. I was even given a kit with some products that I found very useful. I was really impressed. I have always been very nervous to go to the dentist, but now I don’t mind at all. They have even made me want to take great care of my teeth to make them proud! A WORD FROM YOUR DOCTOR
Dr. Paul Nielson and Dr. Tim Schmidt are co-owners of Life Smiles Dental Care and have a surprising amount in common. Both graduated in three years from Brigham Young University before attending dental school in the Pacific Northwest. Both graduated with honors, receiving recognition in restorative, and implant dentistry... Dr. Nielson graduating first in his class and Summa Cum Laude. Dr. Nielson and Schmidt continue to impact the dental profession. Both are members of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, and have been awarded by the Academy of General Dentistry the Mastership and Fellowship awards respectively. They each stay current by achieving approximately 4-times the required hours of continuing education. In their personal life, Dr. Nielson and Dr. Schmidt are again similar as each is a family man with four children. Dr. Nielson's hobbies include hiking, skiing and mountain biking. Dr. Schmidt's hobbies include music/arts, and escaping to the mountains when possible.
